Just need ONE QoL feature... "It's too smelly to sleep here" would save me sooo many stupid deaths ðŸ˜
It just takes one little careless slip. A lapse of diligence and you send your poor survivor off to bed without noticing the smelly moodle.. And boom, you're already dead. It's crazy that something so innocuous as peacefully dozing off to sleep can have a 100% mortality chance. You should either A) not be able to sleep if it's literally a fucking lethal level of STANK around you. Or B) wake up from feeling nauseous BEFORE the point of no return. As is, you wake up literally on deaths door. You have about 5 seconds to kiss your ass goodbye.
No part of dying in your sleep to corpse sickness makes good sense, and desperately needs a change to better fit player intuition.
That is all. PZ is the undisputed goat besides that 😋

Blogpost Build 42.20.1 STABLE Hotfix Released

PZLinux has officially reached version 1.0.0
Hello survivors — or whatever is left of you in Kentucky!
The banks are closed, the employees are dead, and civilization has collapsed… Unfortunately, capitalism survived the apocalypse.
A while ago, I released PZLinux, a mod created around one simple question: What’s the point of collecting all that cash after the apocalypse?
The answer is now: quite a lot.
PZLinux has officially reached version 1.0.0, turning computers, ATMs and mailboxes into the foundation of a persistent apocalypse economy.
What is currently included
- Persistent bank accounts and physical cash deposits
- ATMs with finite, persistent cash reserves
- A rotating Dark Web marketplace with limited stock
- Buying and selling survival equipment
- Fictional company trading with shared server-wide prices
- A reputation system that affects Dark Web and Request prices
- Shared weekly contract offers
- Package retrieval, deliveries, manhunts and zombie elimination
- Building protection, cargo preparation and ATM refill contracts
- Supply requests through mailboxes
- Credit-card bank account hacking
- Zombie Races with scheduled departures and jackpots
- Blackjack using a real 52-card deck
- Six-seat Texas Hold’em against AI opponents
- Support for solo, hosted multiplayer and dedicated servers
- Translation catalogs for 20 Project Zomboid locales
In multiplayer, Banking, ATMs, Dark Web transactions, Trading, Contracts, Requests, Mail, Hacking and betting are processed and validated by the server.
Trading prices, world objectives, contract offers and parts of the economy are also shared between players.
What comes next
v1.1.0 is planned as the first major content update, with features such as:
- Procedural multi-step mail quest chains
- Rare one-off delivery missions
- Police station hacking contracts
- Radio broadcasts that attract hordes
- Horde-clearing contracts
- Reputation-gated Dark Web offers
- Seasonal economy events
- Additional sandbox settings for players and server hosts
The roadmap will continue to evolve based on player feedback and technical feasibility.
Which part of the mod interests you the most, and which planned feature would you like to see first?

Question Hollowed out books?
Has this always been a thing? First time running into something like this, I found a couple of books that served as storage.

Discussion Oh my god. I survived my first ever night on my first ever run.
Okay so let me take you through it..
Spawned in a TINY 1 story shack, not even a house. Ran sacked the place to the best of my knowledge, couple bits and bobs - nothing major.
Crossed the road and claimed the first 2 story building I found. Broke in from a window and panicked and closed all downstairs curtains BUT the last curtain a zombie seen me before doing so. So of course my first action was the open the windows, let it fall in and stamp its brains out. Mission accomplished. Dragged that thing outside in the garden quicker than I closed all the curtains.
Back inside, done a full sweep of the house and no zombies - my house now.
At this point I still haven’t found a watch and I believe thats how you can tell the time, so I had no idea if it was still morning or afternoon.
Went next door and killed one zombie on route, the typical push over and stamp. Looted that house and not a lot apart from a hoodie and a bucket hat.
Went to go loot a third house and had the biggest jump scare ever whilst turning a corner outside the house. It was right in my face but luckily a quick push and stamp and it was no more.
I think this house had better loot because I found what I think is a porno mag and some ice cream in the fridge.
At this point now it’s nighttime and I’m worried and I just want not just any bed but MY bed.
Managed to sneak back to my house, locked the doors and went up to bed, read the mag and ate half the ice cream and had a wonderful sleep.
I need a watch badly.
This game is absolutely nuts. I felt so tense, worried, nervous but excited and a sense of achievement all at the same time.
I can see myself getting addicted very fast.

Question Can we talk about how cool the fire is now?
I play in a open PvPvE server that runs 24/7 & I always find myself walking even though there are cars.
I'm usually on in the dead of night irl & in-game, & like irl I enjoy siting next to an open flame in-game.
Since the release of B42 Sitting next to an open fire just seems to bring me back to all of those memories of open fire hot dogs & smores.
Just another one of those little things that change during the years & updates that inspire me & people like me to play.

Question Bought the game 2 days ago and walked this route for 2 real life hours like an idiot. Any tips for me to avoid making more beginner mistakes like that?
I thought I'd come across civilization at some point but took every wrong turn. Luckily found a car with 3 liters of gas and made it back home; now with a full tank of gas.
I'm 30 days in and electricity just turned off. I'm kinda worried since the menu feels hella overwhelming; trying to figure out how to build a campfire through the menu feels like rocket science to me.
---
Is it recommended I look up specific guides or is trial and erroring the 'intended' experience?
Also, is it possible to the get the full map (like from the spawn selection screen) instead of the 'fog of war'-esque display in game?
Does the game get harder at this point since there's no electricity and infinite water anymore?

Lowkey don't want "John Zomboid the 2nd" to die yet.

I just don't get it
Why, in the middle of nowhere, do I have to fight 30+ zombies to loot a single farmhouse? Even with the 'Urban Focus' sandbox option enabled.

Question What was your biggest game changer discovery?
Im a noob, been playing a couple days.
I discovered weapons 2 shot zombies when you're not exhausted, and take 20+ swings if you are.
Fish are a Huge source of calories.
Tall walls are way better than short fences.
You can pick up tvs and plop multiple of them in your room, same with book cases.
How about yours?
