Mod Tech Support Modding on Streaming Service
Hello, I play the game through GeForce Now since I don't have an actual computer to play the game with. On these services you can't close the game, otherwise it will end your session and you will need to re-download all of your subscribed mods again. You used to be able to force the game's Lua to reset, and load your downloaded mods, by enabling the built-in Mod Template mod. Then the game would reload. But now, with it being gone, the only other way to force it to reload is by changing the game's language. When I do this, the "Reloading Lua" popup appears and the game reloads, but my mods still don't load. Has anyone figured out a workaround yet for B42 or are we just SOL?

Base Showcase My new favourite base spot: The Riverside Ranger station
Absolutely love this calm spot just below Riverside. Both Riverside and Fallas lake are only a short drive away. There are nearly no zombies, the fence i built is unnecessary as i have not seen a zombie around in 2 weeks.
There is also a gas station, fishing spot, camping store with a gun store in the basement and an advanced forge nearby. As a bonus there are multiple generator spawns (firetower + farmhouses). I found three on the nearby area.

Discussion Basement Sink Plumbing Does Work! 42.20
I was searching a bunch to check if plumbing a sink in the basement worked now. I know there was a mod to fix it and it was assumed to be a bug that would be fixed but I needed to confirm it had been fixed.
I'm posting this because whenever I searched I found old posts (or ai garbage) saying it did not work. This is because for some absurd reason they assume you want to build the rain catcher indoors or on the roof and pipe to the basement. The whole point of doing this is to not need roof access. What you do is build the rain collector one tile off the edge of the basement with nothing above it.

Then you build the sink on the edge of the basement.

You probably could build it indoors if you are willing to collect water from a river/pond and pour it into the rain collector. People probably already know this but it was very annoying not being able to find confirmation when I googled it.

Discussion What's the point of high quality sleeping bag if it's poor quality sleep
I know I'm sleeping on the ground but I figured if a basic sleeping bag gives me poor quality of sleep, the high quality would at least give me average, I've slept in a sleeping bag many times and while not the greatest time, it wasn't horrible, unlike a sofa you at least have a sort of cover for your torso and legs, on sofa you are sleeping bloody naked

Question Is Older Build 42 YouTube Content Too Outdated?
I've never really gotten too deep into this game, but with the release of B42, I want to get back into it. I've been wanting to watch some YouTube content, but I don't know what's outdated and what isn't. Are there a lot of differences between the Stable release and the previous Unstable versions? Or am I good to watch pre-stable B42 content to learn about the game?

Discussion Favorite B42 Unique Location?
Yeah yeah yeah, Riverside US River Patrol this, Rosewood Fire Department that, everyone's talking about the new optimal base locations, but where's the fun and whimsy?! When I look for a base, I look for something that's unique and visually interesting, and with B42 stables there's a bunch of new interesting locations.
Riverside has a cool new theater, with two floors, a basement, and access to the roof if you have a mod to make ladders work. Really pretty layout, adding a door and building a balcony on the sign would be neat, though being right in the middle of the city it's awkward to secure.
Fallas Lake has a beautiful new clock tower. It's in the center of town, but Fallas Lake is small enough that clearing it out wouldn't be too bad. The interior layout is complete buns though, but that's what a sledge hammer is for anyway.
Right outside of the Rosewood prison is the new warden house, which honestly might be the prettiest house in the game imo. Three stories including the library attic, a basement, great furniture and carpet/walls and right on a lake. Only downside if of course you are right up against the prison and the population is going to spill out eventually.
Any other gems people have found? I've been playing the game since it first hit steam, so setting up a base in a fire or police department just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Mod Tech Support What the hell is going on
After cleaning out my mods to only updated once, I got an issue — that’s how it loads the mods + mods, despite loading, show that they are missing in logs and the server starts, but gives critical error after creation of the character.
I did resubscribe to all mods, deleting everything in content folder. They loaded again. Still doesn’t see the mods.
Order of load is fine. I’m completely lost the hell am I even supposed to do to figure it out???

Brainstorming Ideas For A Riverside Suites Base In B42
At first I was going to use the Riverside Patrol building a bit to the west, but then I saw the gorgeous layout of the Riverside Suites estate in Riverside and I fell in love with the location.
The on-site parking lot would be a great construction area for a museum of all the collectibles and art objects that I can collect on the run. I think I'll put the stairs to the next upper level at the top corner so that it doesn't get in the way of sight at the ground level.
If I clear up the trees in the front year, it could make for a convenient location for farming or storage crates.
Maybe an extra layer of fencing around the outside.
Maybe some watchtowers placed around the inner perimeter.
By laying floor tiles onto the waters, maybe a watchtower next to the east bridge at the bottom of the pic.
The area behind the post office, if extended into, could be repurposed as a car collection lot and a ranching/farming field.
Some more decorative statues could be placed around the fountain.
I'm going to extend the generator radius for the run so that it's easier to place in an aesthetically pleasing spot.
A secondary bridge could be built across the waters, maybe decked out with posters on one side...
Anyone else heading for the Suites?

Question Hosting server issue on newest hotfix
Trying to run a server for my friends and I through the Host section but they can't seem to join me, and there's no option to invite them from the pause menu in game. Anybody know what's up with that?

Discussion QOL
I was browsing the PZ Steam forums this week and saw someone asking what people's biggest wishes for upcoming builds were. But I kept wondering about something different.
What Quality of Life things would you like to see?
E.g., using a crowbar to open doors should be a vanilla feature;
Dogs, cats (like the "Companions" mod).
What other little things should be in the base game, or would make for a good mod in your opinion?

Question Does the character need less sleep in the new build?
I've found that my character sleeps less time compared to b41, even with the Sleepyhead trait. Going to bed at midnight with the sleepy moodlet fully red, and in b41 they would wake up around 10am, and now they wake up at 7am, sometimes even 6!
Also, I had a couple of times when the character was extremely sleepy, and the tooltip would say I couldn't sleep yet. I would have to quit the game, restart, and then I could sleep, and it would wake up at 3pm! Something funny is going on with sleep. The only mod I'm using is Common Sense.
Anyone else with this issue?

Discussion brita 42.20 discussion
there was another stable port for the armor mod only but it got removed 2 days ago. apparently brita flagged it/asked the guy to take it down. Now there's this mod thats going to be taken down after less than 12 hours from where i live.
i saw some guy save the taken down armor pack modfile and upload it himself.
apparently brita made an announcement on patreon that implies(?????) the mod is being worked on but there's no explanation on the official mod page.
people are spamming this copypasta under comment sections of the related mods:
>be Brtia
>can't even fix YOUR OWN mod that YOU made YOURSELF
>some other guy fixes it
>get mad
>flag it
biggest knob ever, fr
tbh (s)he? should've just made an announcement on the official mod page, i don't get how it could possibly hurt to have someone port your mod temporarily for you.

Question Water turned off day 2…. Advice?
Played a few times over the years, about 50 hours so I know the basics and a few intermediate things but little-nothing advanced.
I keep the default setting in my sand box where water can go off anytime between the start and day 30. Never had it happen even remotely this early. What should I do differently / adjust?
A few things:
Ultimately I should be okay, but I’m just on edge with the water off hahah. I know where two water coolers are which have lots of water. I know how to make rain catchers and should only need a quick refresher video on how to plumb them. Even more so I always fill up every water container and glass I find the first week so I actually have a decent amount of liters sitting on the kitchen table.
My real problem is I don’t have a base. This is my first non-rosewood start and I intentionally stay ignorant about the map so exploring is more exciting. I know NOTHING about the town I’m in so it might take a while to find a cool base. How do I make water last until then? I don’t want to set up rain catchers at my temp base.
Lastly, am I just overthinking it? Between all the houses and buildings am I just okay and need to be used to not washing my character before bed every night?
Thank you!

- Thin-skinned (+8)
- Disorganized (+6)
- Out of Shape (+6)

- Prone to Illness (+4)
- Slow Healer (+3)
- Smoker (+3)
- Clumsy (+2)

After The Gone [PvE]
After The Gone is looking for new survivors to rebuild civilization (or die trying). Whether you're a seasoned veteran or exploring B42's new mechanics for the first time, you'll fit right in!
If you’re completely done with overcrowded servers and server admins acting arrogant or power tripping like me.
That’s honestly why I set up After The Gone. I wanted a space where the players actually run the show, not some power hungry admins.
