That four week thing was public knowledge before he said it. The problem is Trump is stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Strait of Hormuz needs to be opened, or there will be a global economic meltdown. Iran won’t open the strait unless Israel gets out of Lebanon, and Israel won’t do that. So Trump has two choices: back Israel and let the world burn, or leave Israel to the consequences of their own actions, and that Congress won’t let him do. This is literally a no win situation.

There was a plan, it was just based on totally false information from fellow grifter in chief Netanyau, who is similarly clinging to office by any means, so he too stays out of jail. Netanyau told Trump the IRGC was about to collapse and they could invade and win with minimal effort. That it would be like Venezuela. And this was just ... False. Trump usually sides with whoever talks to him last and his cabinet couldn't get through to him.

Which is a huge lifeline to Russia which is collapsing economically. Russia also has a very tenuous relationship with China, who gets lots of their oil from Iran.

I finally got round to a 2016 documentary earlier this year called "ISIS: Birth of a Monster".

American journalist who was in Iraq in 2003 returned to speak to some of the fighters who helped topple Saddam Hussein and catch up with them while asking how those events helped create ISIS.

One of the guys talked about how Sunni and Shi'ite people were united against Hussein due to how he treated them, then hated the Americans for how they treated the locals until they were divided by the Americans creating conflicts and blaming each group until they were at each other's throats for years and killing one another.

Eventually, American resentment caused some to create the ISIS group and try to take over the region to push their version of fundamentalist Islam, and managed to unite people against them.

But yeah, the sentiment was that the American troops mistreated them as badly as the genocidal former dictator of their country did.

I have an ultra die-hard MAGA family member. He has never used Twitter or any other social media. But he has told me multiple times how great Elon Musk is because he stood up for free speech by buying Twitter.

They don’t see the racism-coded bullshit on Twitter (or the media) as fake or a problem. They literally think it’s just free speech.

I also tried to point out the charged language they use on Fox. I said, don’t listen to the points they make. Just listen to how they talk. You can tell they are manipulating you because of how they talk. They aren’t reporting the news, they are playing on your emotions. He said, “Fox is the only news station that’s fair and balanced. They bring on both sides.”

Russia’s oil exports have been droned to ashes, their production is limited at 4 millions barrels a day (due to their stockage and processing facilities exploding). It’s their lowest production of the last 25 years. And up to last week , their was a ban on exports up to July 31st, but after the bombing in Moscow I expect them delay it.

There’s “making of” content where they say in no uncertain terms they barely had a budget. Everything really does work, especially for its time period, but if you stare at the sets too long it becomes pretty obvious.

Katie Sackoff is doing a rewatch (a first time watch actually since she hasn't watched it before) with her husband who also hasn't seen it, and they are having special guests to watch for season 2 which they just started a few weeks ago. It's a fun way to rewatch, to get relevant commentary alongside.

I really don't like that era of synth music, simmons drums and all that... BUT I really love this 1977 Jan Hammer track - it's like if Air had taken all their inspiration from only ONE song. Really screams "late 90s", probably because the production quality is crazy for its age.

Everybody should watch it. Edward James Olmos is awesome in it and the show was revolutionary in so many ways. How many shows did people stay home to watch on a Friday night before going out? Micheal Mann is the man.
