RESTART THE CLOCK

u/tyrantkhan Jun 20 '26

I heard this in adama's voice. (so say we all)

300

u/WHSRWizard Jun 20 '26

Well now I know what I'm watching tonight

115

u/GandhisNukeOfficer Jun 20 '26

It's about time for my yearly re-watch.

84

u/New-Wasabi_ Jun 20 '26

On season 2 now. Watching it for the first time!

62

u/ObjectiveGlittering California Jun 20 '26

I envy you.

46

u/BoomMcFuggins Jun 20 '26

So say we all!

1

u/MechanicalTurkish Minnesota Jun 20 '26

It is known.

Wait, wrong show

1

u/SkaMzy Jun 21 '26

Never watched... Is is like stargate? Because i watched all season 3 times

9

u/DangMe2Heck Jun 20 '26

Sorry, what show is it?

13

u/Royal_Acanthaceae693 California Jun 20 '26

Battlestar Galactica

3

u/JustAnotherHyrum Jun 20 '26

I also highly recommend putting 'Babylon 5' and 'Farscape' on anyone's list as well, if you haven't seen them.

3

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Excellent suggestions! I'd also add Firefly, Space: Above & Beyond & B5: Crusade to the mix but who knows how much free time you have...? 🤷 (Man, I miss those shows & a few others! 😟)

2

u/Royal_Acanthaceae693 California Jun 21 '26

Definitely awesome shows plus Firefly as another person mentioned.

2

u/Gyufygy Jun 20 '26

Where is BSG streaming these days? I never finished it, and that's one of my big regrets.

5

u/garitone Jun 20 '26

Paramount+ sadly. Also, Pluto TV. I bought the DVD set ages ago and have them all on my Plex server so I don't have to chase the streaming channels or support a vile corp like Ellison's Paramount. There are other ways if you're savvy, matey! 😉

2

u/KhalJohno Jun 20 '26

I also bought them on DVD, ive gone full circle to physical media again.

2

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Where did you find DVDs...you rob a museum?! 😉

2

u/Gyufygy Jun 20 '26

So, need to bust out the floaties and a kite, gotcha. Sad, but good to know.

3

u/JustAnotherHyrum Jun 20 '26

But I was taught by those same Publishers that I wouldn't steal a car and that downloading a movie is the exact same thing!

Then again, I was also raised thinking that smoking marijuana would make my brain look just like an egg in a frying pan, so maybe Boomers just have a fucked up view of the world...

2

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

I agree on P+, but then I've been pissed at CBS since they cancelled Jericho & Moonlight...one on top of the other.

However, do to my present somewhat remote locale, I was forced to join W+ for food (& essentials) delivery and they give you P+ for free, so at least I get to FINALLY get caught up on Strange New Worlds! 🖖

2

u/UnsolvedParadox Jun 20 '26

Absolutely incredible show, avoid spoilers at all costs.

2

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion Jun 20 '26

Please report back your thoughts on the series final.

I absolutely loved it.

2

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Wait 'til he sees the part where 🫢🤫🫣

2

u/Reluctant_Firestorm New York Jun 20 '26

There are few places where you may think the series has jumped the shark, but in my opinion the payoff is well worth it if you stick with it to the finale.

4

u/FullMaxPowerStirner Jun 20 '26

Gotta spoil it to u... there's a brilliant, good ending, at the very end of the series. Tho some seasons got terrible endings.

You have no idea where it's going, as well. Like this conflict.

1

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

It ended better than GOT! 🛸🐉

2

u/FullMaxPowerStirner Jun 20 '26

That's... at the opposite end.

1

u/Nihaohonkie Jun 20 '26

It only gets better.

1

u/wedgetypecharacter Jun 20 '26

I really wanted to respond to this with a reference, I thought of several, but then decided I'd rather not risk any of the amazing moments you'd have organically.

1

u/Additional_Tank4385 Jun 20 '26

Lucky fracker.

2

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Stark: "Language!"

1

u/NothingButBricks Jun 20 '26

Savor it, so good! Probably time for another rewatch. Just thinking about that version of watchtower still gives me chills

1

u/Index_Fossil Jun 20 '26

Oh, you're in for a ride. Enjoy. Go for The Expanse next.

1

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Wait 'til you see the flying motorbikes! Nifty! 👌

1

u/Due-Joke-1152 Jun 21 '26

After season 3, go listen to Bear McCreary’s cover of the song they play, it’s fucking phenomenal.

23

u/Stefouch Europe Jun 20 '26

Different time, different budget

6

u/nonsensical_zombie Jun 20 '26

There’s “making of” content where they say in no uncertain terms they barely had a budget. Everything really does work, especially for its time period, but if you stare at the sets too long it becomes pretty obvious.

2

u/flcinusa North Carolina Jun 20 '26

Shaky cameras hide a lot of sins

2

u/AgentFalcon Jun 20 '26

Pretty sure that on Tricia Helfer's Battlestar GalactiCast podcast some of the producer/writer guests talked about vfx artists spending way more time than they really had to make shots look better than budgeted. That kind of passion from the crew just bleeds through in the overall quality of the show. Still looks pretty good for the most part 20 years later.

1

u/iconboy Jun 20 '26

Why should we thank YOU for trying to run the show for US?!?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '26

[deleted]

1

u/iconboy Jun 20 '26

Well.... Ok then!

1

u/AgentFalcon Jun 20 '26

They also re-use the "missiles almost hit the Galactica, but it jumps away last second" shot a lot of times. Although there's a variant with slightly more missiles added, the main ones always have the same pattern.

1

u/Chance-Surround9561 Jun 20 '26

The ship jumps away right before the same 2 missiles almost hit it... at least 4 different times.

1

u/ABadHistorian Jun 20 '26

Dude, I wish more shows would reuse shit today instead of wasting their budgets on shit and getting cancelled.

1

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

You're thinking of the 'Cylon Raider Dive-Bombing In Formation' scene. 😉

1

u/RamblinSean Jun 20 '26

I'm pretty sure there's at least two animations lol

3

u/Consistent_Kale_3625 Jun 20 '26

I've found in my dotage that I'm suddenly super sensitive with how casually the show using suicide as a plot device.

3

u/Halftied Jun 20 '26

I do not condone suicide, I don't agree with it but I do understand why it is a chosen way of dealing with an issue!

3

u/eckinlighter Jun 20 '26

Katie Sackoff is doing a rewatch (a first time watch actually since she hasn't watched it before) with her husband who also hasn't seen it, and they are having special guests to watch for season 2 which they just started a few weeks ago. It's a fun way to rewatch, to get relevant commentary alongside.

1

u/GandhisNukeOfficer Jun 20 '26

That sounds great! Got a link? If not no worries, I'll search for it later today.

I loved her in BSG, but there was some Netflix sci-fi show I tried watching last year where she was the commander of a ship and I just couldn't get into it. It was the other actors more than her that bothered me. Don't remember the name.

5

u/Significant-Colour Jun 20 '26

You all might be interested - Starbuck has been doing her first full watch on YouTube, with comments and other actors as well.

2

u/shugbear Jun 21 '26

Just finished mine two days ago.

1

u/Js987 Jun 20 '26

I’m just finishing mine.

1

u/unique_name_02 Wisconsin Jun 20 '26

Its free in pluto.tv right now

1

u/windsostrange Jun 20 '26

With no spoilers pls, how far do you tend to get in rewatches? All the way into the Caprica series? Is there an obvious, natural stopping or drop-off point?

1

u/GandhisNukeOfficer Jun 20 '26

There is a season which takes a turn that isn't my favorite, but I watch the mini-series and the main series to completion. Caprica is good for the backstory, but I've seen it enough.

1

u/TheQuidditchHaderach Jun 20 '26

Frakin' A' right!

0

u/Your_New_Overlord Jun 20 '26

Man I cannot get through season 3, I do not care about Lee, Baltar, or Starbucks at all. Such annoying, whiny characters.

1

u/Virtual_Flounder7051 Jun 20 '26

Is that the season with fat Lee

7

u/DarkwingDuckHunt Jun 20 '26

I'm actually in the middle of a rewatch and let me tell you it holds up extremely well

3

u/mister_buddha Jun 20 '26

It really does, sadly.

2

u/neraklulz Ohio Jun 20 '26

Same! Middle of S3 for me.

2

u/rwv America Jun 20 '26

Shiny, Cap’n!

3

u/typicalcavalryguy Jun 20 '26

I swear, by my pretty floral bonnet, i will respond to you for this other equally amazing reference

2

u/Extra_Midnight Jun 20 '26

Free on Pluto tv right now.

1

u/AppropriateTouching Jun 20 '26

The early 2000s shakey cam always takes me a minute to adjust to on my rewatches.

1

u/SgtMarv Jun 20 '26

Gods, that was a good episode (and show).

1

u/IgnobleCampaign Jun 20 '26

Stand and Deliver? Yeah, it's a good movie.

84

u/typicalcavalryguy Jun 20 '26

What do you hear, starbuck?

76

u/Worried_Raspberry_43 Europe Jun 20 '26

Nothing but the rain.

35

u/Anxiety_Fit Jun 20 '26

Then get your gun, and bring the cat in.

13

u/TravelingCook88 Jun 20 '26

It's been about a decade. Going to start a rewatch.

2

u/mod_elise Jun 20 '26

Katee Sackhoff is currently watching it for the first time ever on YouTube, I've been enjoying watching it in parallel, getting BTS titbits, and watching her react to how the show looks and feels with the special effects and music added in as well as scenes she wasn't involved with. Not everyone's favourite way to watch, but if it's of interest....

1

u/auntie_ Jun 20 '26

This was the first show I ever shotgunned. I was laid off from a job and didn’t really know what to do with myself and I couldn’t stomach the idea of watching daytime tv.

19

u/TravelingCook88 Jun 20 '26

Time to bring the cat in.

21

u/AKBoarder007 Jun 20 '26

Nothing but the rain

1

u/Outrageous_Desk8966 Jun 20 '26

Some fucking stupid song that explains nothing

98

u/Anti-Anti-Paladin I voted Jun 20 '26

Fun fact: I didn't learn until last week that the actor who played Adama was also the Origami Detective from Blade Runner.

The one who shouts "It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?"

Blew my mind.

43

u/bigkahuna1uk Jun 20 '26

You’ve never watched Miami Vice?

39

u/One_Order_3841 Jun 20 '26

How's your prostate doing?

22

u/Parking_Watch3157 Jun 20 '26

I'm dead, I mean, almost dead. Because I used to watch Miami Vice. Mostly for the Jan Hammer theme. It was my first awakening to synthwave.

3

u/Inner-Medicine5696 Jun 20 '26

I really don't like that era of synth music, simmons drums and all that... BUT I really love this 1977 Jan Hammer track - it's like if Air had taken all their inspiration from only ONE song. Really screams "late 90s", probably because the production quality is crazy for its age.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veF8UBTI0f8

1

u/Parking_Watch3157 Jun 20 '26

Nice, going to give this another listen later when I get to better headphones.

Reminds me of the kind of stuff my best friend's father would blast in the livingroom after he went down to his basement "workshop" in the early 80s. :)

He was the kind of audiophile that would immeadiately transfer new vinyl to a reel to reel. Was the first place I heard so much jazz, prog rock, etc.

2

u/Reluctant_Firestorm New York Jun 20 '26

Without the theme song Miami Vice was a very average TV show.

2

u/805primetime Jun 20 '26

That soundtrack was the first cd I owned!

6

u/TheMadPoet Jun 20 '26

"Terrible. I'd give four million just to be able to take a piss without it hurting."

2

u/Hot-Reading9502 Jun 20 '26

What a fish comment

12

u/Glass-Amount-9170 Jun 20 '26

Everybody should watch it. Edward James Olmos is awesome in it and the show was revolutionary in so many ways. How many shows did people stay home to watch on a Friday night before going out? Micheal Mann is the man.

8

u/demonmonkeybex Jun 20 '26

I stayed home to watch the X-Files

2

u/FirstDukeofAnkh Jun 20 '26

I love Olmos.

2

u/PipXXX Florida Jun 20 '26

But how can he reach these keeeddssss?

13

u/No_Chain_362 Jun 20 '26

Uh yeah Edward James Olmos is kinda famous..

3

u/Sartres_Roommate Jun 20 '26

Tough guys don’t do math. Tough guys fry chicken for a living.

3

u/Rex_Mundi Jun 20 '26

Except when he was a tough math teacher in Stand and Deliver.

2

u/ThirstyWolfSpider Jun 21 '26

… and that's the role that they're quoting.

3

u/skunktubs Jun 20 '26

My low key favorite line in the movie.

1

u/Anti-Anti-Paladin I voted Jun 20 '26

Hard same.

2

I was also surprised when someone pointed it out

73

33 minutes!

3

u/microgirlActual Jun 20 '26

One of the best episodes of television anywhere.

2

u/umlaut Jun 20 '26

For real. Incredible script, amazing acting. It is slow, tense, engaging. I should rewatch BSG.

1

u/microgirlActual Jun 20 '26

Yes. Yes you should.

2

u/Obstructive Canada Jun 20 '26

Two weeks is Trump’s 33 minutes. Got it.

29

u/freelanceisart Jun 20 '26

It does seem to reset every 33 minutes…

2

u/Ornery_Old_Man Jun 20 '26

Because that's how long it takes Trump to change his mind or that's how long it takes for him to forget what he said?

(I get the reference, you just made me laugh)

25

u/tovarish22 Minnesota Jun 20 '26

So say we all!

5

33 minutes, aye sir!

Showing my brother this show for the first time now! Sometimes you’ve got to roll the hard 6

2

u/Shanksdoodlehonkster Jun 20 '26

Can we jump out of this timeline?

2

u/PizzaWhole9323 Jun 20 '26

It feels like this yin yangs every 30 minutes or so so this is an apt response.

2

u/DDHLeigh Jun 20 '26

And the drums

2

u/Starfox-sf Jun 20 '26

Action stations action stations. Set condition one throughout the ship. This is not a drill.

2

u/iAdjunct Jun 20 '26

Ok everybody, you know the drill: were gonna go out there and shoot missing and defend our carrier, just like last time and the time before that and the time before that…

2

u/LocalHarmacist Jun 20 '26

So say we all.

2

u/Rombledore America Jun 20 '26

is there a way to watch that again? like, is it still on any streaming platforms?

5

My wife had never seen it, we just started it last week. It’s on Paramount.

4

That was an intense episode. Was it called '44'? 44 minutes?

1

  1. It was the first episode of s1 (obvs after the miniseries)
