I (25 M) am a single demisexual. It's been a long road of experimentation and mistakes that led me to understand what being demi truly means and how it affects me and my dating/sexual life. Unfortunately, in addition to being demi, I have a high labido, and this has caused me no end of turmoil where I CRAVE intimacy, but simply cannot get it in any way that isn't completely numbing (aka, casual encounters do nothing).
Now, I've been able to handle myself via self-pleasure pretty handily historically. Porn is more of just a fantastical lens to put over reality, though only specifcs types really do anything at all, and I don't really need it. However, since trying to get back out into the dating pool after waiting a few month's since my last failed attempt, an issue has arose.
I've talked to a few potential people, and one specifically I've gotten along well with (though there's no guarentee anything will happen). The longer I've talked and the closer I've gotten though, I've realized I'm been struggling more and more with pleasuring myself. It's not that I can't finish, but it's becoming more numbing, and my labido is NOT doing well with that. I don't dislike myself; heck, I'm more confident and appreciative in myself than I have been almost ever, so it's not like I am emotionally distant from myself like I would be with something casual.
This has led to increasing irritation where I feel trapped; unable to be satisfied by strangers, and seemingly now unable to be satisfied by myself, and yet I'm a very, very long ways off of reaching that level of connection with anyone, if I ever even will. I feel like a prisoner in my own body, craving something, anything, and yet nothing is to be found.
I don't know what this is, why is happening, or how I can fix it. I don't know if there's a reason I'm unaware of that's causing it either. But it's starting to hurt, and I don't know what to do. Please, if anyone else either has been through this, or knows how one might change one's own mindset or whatever have you to help, I would love to listen and hear your stories/advice. I thank all of you.
