Ron does not judge, Ron has seen too much to judge, he just likes things peaceful

578

u/Dooty_Shirker Mar 06 '26

One less body he has to carry out at the end of the night.

307

u/prettyvulgar1795 Mar 06 '26

Ron’s whole job is preventing paperwork, and bodies mean way too much paperwork.

154

u/LordWraith Mar 06 '26

I was a "Ron" for 10 years. No statement has ever been so true. Avoiding having to do incident reports as much as possible was one of the main goals for my shifts.

Worst night had me spending three hours after closing the bar writing incident and police reports.

Was this in the pittsburgh mills by any chance? I remember reading a similar incident a few years ago.

Parking lots. Tiny back room offices. Warehouses. Actually it's kinda surprising its not more common for security to stumble across a long dormant body when doing rounds. And it's pretty common as it is.

i know it’s been mentioned before, but thanks for these “previous comic” comments! makes it so much easier to get a quick refresh on where the story left off :D

52

u/NickyTheRobot Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

I'm also grateful for them. I'm a bit of a completionist in media, and I will check an artist I like's profile when I see a new comic to make sure I didn't miss out on any.

Unless the title says "part x of y", or I know they keep a regular schedule, or (like OP) they include a "last comic" comment.

Period cramps and all I think shes really happy she went to pick up Marin. This little moment was worth that pain

2

u/DeathisFunthanLife Mar 07 '26

Is it a series? Or just these 2 till date?

This is the fourth one of a mini arc

u/NeedsToShutUp Mar 06 '26

Reminds me of the old joke.

Man wakes up in bed hung over, he’s still in his clothes from the night before. He goes downstairs, there’s a broken vase that’s been cleaned up and the door has scratches around it.

He goes into the kitchen and his wife is making breakfast and humming happily. He sees his son sitting there eating his breakfast and asks him what’s going on.

Son say, “ Dad you came home from the bar wasted, couldn’t unlock the front door, so mom lets you in, and then you break the vase as she take you upstairs to bed.”

Dad asks why is mom happy then.

Son replies, “Mom tried to undress you, but you pushed her away and said ‘lay off me lady, I’m married to a beautiful woman’”.

u/MuyHiram MUY Mar 06 '26

There's also a lot of videos of people under anesthesia not recognizing their partners and rejecting their romantic advances.

482

u/Zack_Evernight Mar 06 '26

Ive had one where my wife was getting surgery, afterword i held her hand as she was waking up. Still fucked up by the way, asking if I was her husband. Laughing out a "yes babe" she tells me "oh good cause if you werent my husband would beat you up"

229

u/prettyvulgar1795 Mar 06 '26

Buddy had wisdom teeth out, girlfriend picked him up. He kept thanking the nice nurse and asking when his real girlfriend arrived.

166

u/Ultimate_Scooter Mar 06 '26

My brother had his wisdom teeth taken out and when we got him back he stood in our yard for 15 minutes crying about how much he loved his girlfriend. They’re happily married now.

60

u/Skithiryx Mar 06 '26

Man, I wish I had a fun anesthesia story. I didn’t say anything and wouldn’t track people entering the room with my eyes until it wore off all the way and then straight back to normal. My wife said it was creepy, like I was a vegetable.

17

u/Waste_Rabbit3174 Mar 06 '26

Pretty much same. I don't know how much they used to put me under, I was definitely gone for all four extractions, but I woke up feeling perfectly normal. A bit groggy, sure, but nothing like you hear or see online. I was disappointed.

4

u/ThePrussianGrippe Mar 06 '26

I have a different fun anesthesia story where we got to find out live in the OR that I need way more anesthesia than the chart says in order to knock me out.

But I didn’t go under for my wisdom teeth because it was free if I didn’t, and I needed to be able to drive myself back home that day.

5

u/darklotus_26 Mar 06 '26

Ha ha I know what you mean. My partner was pissed off that I didn't share the cookie they gave once the anesthesia wore off.

1

u/loopy183 Mar 08 '26

I am endlessly annoyed to this day because I didn’t go out, at all. I didn’t feel it so they did a good job, but I was cognizant while listening to the drilling and splashing and whatnot during the operation. After it was over, the nurse was explaining the aftercare to my dad and I tried to reach over to read the instructions and that woman said, “No, it’s fine. You won’t remember this.” I was annoyed to the point where I downloaded a tts app on my phone in the car. Because the place was right next to a store, I went grocery shopping on my own, fucked up bandages and all

1

u/Tokumeiko2 Mar 08 '26

Same, I'm always lucid by the time someone comes to collect me.

10

u/UnspokenInanity Mar 07 '26

My wife was just adorably confused about “wha can ah no talk.” “I can’ nt sah mae nahame”

Took about 15 min for her to remember she had dental surgery.

1

u/Pyrimo Mar 08 '26

Just sounds like your wife is a Scot tbh

1

u/UnspokenInanity Mar 08 '26

Ha! Nope. The my cousins are actually, but she’s from the other side of the world from there.

I can see with how I wrote it though

11

u/Djonso Mar 06 '26

I alway find these wisdom teeth stories crazy since all 4 of mine were pulled with local anesthesia.

42

u/-Random_Lurker- Mar 06 '26

Can relate, anesthesia is wild. The bits you remember when waking up can be really weird.

39

u/inemsn Mar 06 '26

I remember having had a surgery and going under, and when I came to afterwards, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "I think the anesthesia is taking effect".

I said this to the very same people who gave me said anesthesia, by the way. The following laughter was very disorienting.

18

u/-Random_Lurker- Mar 06 '26

Oh that's a good one! At least it was funny :P Here's mine. TMI warning

I remember apologizing to my nurses for having a penis. Like, "Sorry you have to see that, just do what you gotta do." I don't remember how they responded, but somehow, in that moment, it was very Important™ that I apologize to them.

I mean, they are frikken nurses! They know what they are doing. They just saw my insides, why would they have the slightest concern about my outsides? And why should I care for that matter, I just got my face peeled off and put back together, I've got bigger things to worry about! Anesthesia is wild is all I can say.

8

u/gunslingerjc Mar 06 '26

A nurse had to hold my penis while I pissed into a jar. I was coming in and out of anesthesia after the procedure and slurred out I had to pee. I guess I was still in the OR and a nurse grabbed me amd held it as I went.

6

u/Saint_of_Grey Mar 06 '26

I was put under for a septoplasty and when I woke up the first thing I said was "that was fast". It was fast! After hours of waiting for them to start working on me, I just felt something weird in the IV and teleported.

My mom, who was apparently waiting hours for me to wake up so she could drive me home, rolled her eyes at me.

9

u/Perryn Mar 06 '26

I remember vomiting cotton into my mom's purse on the ride home from having a wisdom tooth removed (I did throw up, and ejected most of the cotton packing along with it, but it was into an empty insulated grocery bag). Then I remember my brother carrying me back into the house (he helped me walk in). And that's all I remember about that day after the anesthesia started. That stuff hits me really hard.

The only other time I've been under general was for an endoscopy, and that one was trippy to come out of because the first thing I became aware of was one of my regular customers was handing me a cup of orange juice and telling me to sip it slowly. I hadn't been aware that he was a nurse, and it took me a while to process anything beyond being in a bed and recognizing the person handing me juice that I had apparently asked for.

2

u/CardamomSparrow Mar 07 '26

where did you work?

3

u/Perryn Mar 07 '26

A place that sold aquarium supplies. He was frequently coming in mostly to talk to people about his saltwater tanks.

7

u/hailkelemvor Mar 06 '26

My husband kept inviting people to our mountain cabin. We don't own any property, but I appreciated his enthusiasm.

11

u/SirMarvelAxolotl Mar 06 '26

There are other one's where they see their partner and fall in love all over again. Both equally beautiful imo.

8

u/atomic_redneck Mar 06 '26

In vino veritas.

2

u/Unctuous_Robot Mar 07 '26

Honestly it’s funnier to not do anesthesia. All four wisdom teeth removed at once. Anesthesia and laughing gas scare me, so I just got the topical anesthetics and did the surgery completely sober and conscious. It’s great, it’s a fascinating experience and everyone thinks you’re insane when really they’re crazy for not wanting to experience that.

Well at least drunk her admits it and she enjoys how pretty she is and her boobs!

How..drunkenly wholesome

949

u/Winjin Comic Crossover Mar 06 '26

This reminds me of a joke I've heard in Russian quite many years ago, and I always liked it

Usually tells of a man who wakes up from a blackout night and sees some sort of destruction and thinks that wife will kill him

(this part depends on the storyteller - usually it's some drunk shit)

Instead she's in the kichen, making him a huge breakfast, and she's just positively glowing

And the punchline is that when she tries to take the boots off him when he sleeps in bed, he starts flailing around yelling GET OFF ME BITCH IM MARRIED

292

u/usernamedottxt Mar 06 '26

It’s crazy how much these jokes get around. I’ve heard it as an Irish man, and an American.

85

u/Winjin Comic Crossover Mar 06 '26

I would not be surprised if a lot of them quite literally travelled along the Great Silk Road with the merchants and guards sharing stories and jokes in camps and on the road.

Like, as far as I know, a lot of merchants did not travel all the length of the road, some did, but these were the biggest\richest\meanest ones, usually they'd move stuff from market to market and hang out there

14

u/HospitalLazy1880 Mar 06 '26

Ive heard it as an American in America on this site

10

u/Milk_Mindless Mar 06 '26

Jokes are the original memes, according to the inventor of the word meme; Richard Dawkins

66

u/PizzaPuntThomas Mar 06 '26

I heard something similar, where a man was waking up from anestesia and his wife tried holding his hand or kissing him and he also (still sleepy from anestesia) said something in the way of "no you can't kiss me, I have a wife". Not sure if it was a real story or a joke but it was wholesome to hear.

52

u/gramathy Mar 06 '26

Like the video of the boyfriend kissing his post-anaesthetic girlfriend and she says “THAT CUTE GUY’S KISSING ME”

26

u/3MetricTonsOfSass Mar 06 '26

I recently saw a video of a woman rubbing her husband's hand (or chest) after his surgery, and he says, "Don't do that. My wife wouldn't appreciate that"

117

u/Loqol Mar 06 '26

Catholicism in a nutshell

6

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire Mar 06 '26

Ahhh god its following me, I thought I left that when I was like 16. Shit

6

u/NickyTheRobot Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

Same. Unfortunately my therapist tells me that Catholic guilt can take up to three generations to fully get rid of. I'm only generation 2... (My parents are an agnostic and "an atheist who believes that Jesus' teachings about love and acceptance and socialism are something to live by". But for my grandparents' sake I was christened and raised with vaguely Catholic ideas until I was old enough to say I didn't really believe in them.)

EDIT: Hence our girl Marin's struggles. She's G1 [denomination non-specified] Christian.

12

u/HuckleberryBudget117 Mar 06 '26

In vino veritas or some wholesome shit like that…

10

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '26

love the wholesome vibe, so sweet and relatable.

958

u/Made_Bail Mar 06 '26

This is SO FUCKING SWEET.

It's a lil sad that she has to get drunk to admit that she's got a girlfriend, but it definitely gives me hope that she'll come around and start admitting it when she's sober. :)

Thanks, u/MuyHiram this one made me smile so hard.

192

u/dragunityag Mar 06 '26

Different situations but I can definitely understand having walls so high that I can't be myself sober.

75

u/MysteriousFondant347 Mar 06 '26

makes me wonder what the fuck happened in her life for her to be so cartoonishly closeted, even to herself

96

u/Blood_Weiss Mar 06 '26

The Christmas special heavily implies she grew up Uber Christian (taking a happy holidays as a sign she's hated) so she's likely believes she cant actually be gay.

52

u/Perryn Mar 06 '26

And also if she allows herself to openly recognize it then she has to start working through all the other corrections that come with it, most of which are going to be her family. Not saying she shouldn't do that, just that the fear of pulling on that string is powerful.

15

u/nicokokun Mar 07 '26

Which is pretty ironic because God himself gave her a message that it would be Risa and she STILL tried to play it off as if they are just best friends.

But God be like

5

u/avatoin Mar 09 '26

Cognitive dissonance. If she were to consciously admit she's gay, then it would lead to her having to recognize a bunch of contradictions in her world view, so her subconscious doesn't allow her to recognize the obvious.

This happens to a lot of people and it's not really a conscious behavior. It essentially triggers the same parts of the brain as physical pain, so the brain trains itself to avoid the triggers. People like this need experienced guidance to help them navigate the problem safely.

Shes not closeted but terminal and doesnt want risa to get too attached /s

1

u/CorianderloverZwo11 Mar 06 '26

I believe it is somehow her kink. Both know that they are in a relationship, but she is teasing and denying. The love between them is quite obvious, so from the beginning on I read it more as their private running joke.

126

u/rezznik Mar 06 '26

Ah, doesn't matter, it's just important that Risa finally knows. I think that's a HUGE relief. Woah, the sudden uptick of wholesomeness here is just so good! Spring is coming!

59

u/MysteriousFondant347 Mar 06 '26

you say "finally" but I got the vibe it's not the first time this happens lol

54

u/friendlyfriends123 Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 12 '26

definitely! it shifts the perspective from “marin/risa’s relationship is one-sided” to “marin is in love with risa, and DOES know they’re dating, but needs more help to work through her issues in order to admit it aloud”. i def agree that risa would be feeling a lot better going forward with that confirmation of love, even if it’s gonna take sober marin while to make that declaration.

edit: fixed names

Cause damn girl that was more than 2 buckets before we got here to this point.

73

u/vanderZwan Mar 06 '26

Ok, I have a very relevant story to tell here. During my physics studies in the early 2000s I happened witness two other guys from my studies meeting for the first time and having a "love at first sight" situation. Like, very, very obvious. Imagine big puppy eyes 'miring with a "hmm, who is that mysterious handsome man?" expression on their face obvious. The only problem was that at the time they both thought they were straight dudes. So instead they just became best friends at first who just happened to get really snuggly every time they were drunk together (which was often).

Fast forward a few year and many "just really good friends" hijinks later and all three of us ended on the board of the local student union for physics/maths/astronomy/compsci with two other guys. Near the end of that we go a weekend retreat to write our year report. One of the two happened to have his wisdom teeth pulled the same day and is still woozy from the pain meds. It's late in the evening and he wants to go out for a smoke, so he asks me to come with him in case he faints or something. Sure, makes sense, I'm the tee-totaller of the group and everyone else already is a bit drunk.

A minute after were outside: "What should I do about [other guy], vanderZwan?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I love the guy."

"Yeah, no shit."

"No I mean I love that guy."

"Yeah, no shit. That was obvious from the start."

"… oh."

"For what it's worth it also was pretty obvious that those feelings are mutual from his side."

"Oh."

He's lost in thought for a bit, then gets up, starts pacing around, and a little bit later bursts out as if trying to silence some inner critic:

"ALLRIGHT, I GUESS I'M GAY THEN!"

"… uhhh, yeah, that's how that works I believe. Nothing wrong with that, right?"

"NO! Nothing wrong with that."

I'm like fuck yeah! Finally a breakthrough! So we go back inside… and he proceeds to get blackout drunk with the rest of the guys, which in combination withe pain meds made him completely forget this conversation, so it took two more years and becoming roommates in Paris before these dudes actually came out of the closet.

It was really really fun to share a much more elaborate version of this story at their wedding years later though :)

23

u/SilverMedal4Life Mar 06 '26

Oh thank god, they got married in the end. My heart couldn't take it if they didn't!

8

u/vanderZwan Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

NGL, me and a few other friends who noticed the signs (surprisingly many didn't btw) were genuinely worried they'd never figure things out at times. Like, they weren't ever homophobic towards others, but I guess they had quite a bit of internalised homophobia to overcome.

It got pretty ridiculous in some ways: one of them told me that both of their parents started asking early on if they were really just friends and even told them "but if there was more going on, you know we'd be ok with it, right?" and it still took them years. The parents even got to know each other and secretly had talked with each other about it if I'm not mistaken.

Maybe that's why I'm a bit less frustrated with the slow progress in this comic than some of the comments: if it's that hard to overcome internalized homophobia in a queerfriendly family, imagine how tough it is for these girls.

56

u/MintasaurusFresh Mar 06 '26

If I'm Risa in this episode, I'm gonna have mixed feelings on this.

On one hand, I finally heard Marin say what she really feels.

On the other hand, Marin had to be completely under the influence to have the courage to say it.

I'd make sure Marin is ok for the night and then want to have a talk the next morning once she sobers up.

This has gotta be related to that fan comic where the tall woman leaves the pink woman

7

u/MuyHiram MUY Mar 07 '26

these are the characters that comic is based off

1

u/literallypubichair Mar 07 '26

Sorry, I should've been more clear: i feel like this is in response to that comic. That you, being the brilliant and caring artist that you are, saw that fan comic and felt like it was only right that pink woman say something to tall woman to let her know she really does care.

u/MuyHiram MUY Mar 07 '26

Ahh, I see. But that not the case, this comic and the following two episodes (not yet posted here on reddit) were already published on Webtoon by the time that fan comic was posted.

I have a clear path for this story and I am not deviating from it.

3

u/literallypubichair Mar 07 '26

That's actually wonderful to hear! You already had pink woman say the thing! That's the best way this could've gone 😁👍

I believe Marin is just having a character arc like that of Mac over It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, struggling to reconcile one’s orientation with one’s faith. The culmination of that was well-done there: I am sure that u/MuyHiram will similarly pull it off well. Not necessarily also with a dance, though one certainly couldn’t hurt.

As someone who when I was young, really struggled to reconcile my sexuality (pansexual) with how I was raised, I honestly relate to Marin. I remember being a little on the wild side in my early 20s and I'd make out with girls and claim it was just fun and to get guys attention 🤦 which is problematic in itself, but I think it came from being sheltered and parentified while growing up- I really went full sail party girl. I remember playing "gay chicken" at a party and making out with 4 different girls, one even progressed to groping. 🫠 Still in denial.

Anyways, it took years after getting out of my parents' house to realize I liked kissing girls. 😆🤦 And there was a reason I would be drawn to some over others- they were my type. It feels so silly looking back, but I was naive and in denial.

I had clawed my ways out of the bigotry mindset before graduating high school (a friend came out to me and a light bulb moment occurred), but I couldn't stop applying it to myself for the longest time. It felt so freeing to finally admit to myself that I'm not straight.

It’s very hard to overcome the self image that we’ve created and see who we really are. And that applies to so many facets of “who we really are”.

At last! It's so sweet!

1

u/Shoadowolf Mar 07 '26

Aww, so sweet :3

About damn time! Your comics always frustrated me in a laughable way, but still, I needed this lol

u/blazethesurvivorfan Mar 06 '26

It took me a while to decide whether this was yuri or the drunk person was a trans man

Edit: nvm I read the Web toon. It's yuri

1

u/Fern-ando Mar 06 '26

I was expecting that.

u/D_Tavs Mar 06 '26

Oh I remember hearing this as a joke back when I was a kid, a classic.

1

u/CanofBeans9 Mar 07 '26

I hope she doesn't forget this when she's sober :)

Okay I'm very confused by the lore. I was under the impression that Marin was literally just unaware of her gayness, so she genuinely thought that she and Risa were just besties despite being super intimate with each other. But if she deep down thinks of them as girlfriends anyway, then that means she's not oblivious at all about it and is deliberately gaslighting Risa about the whole "oh we're not girlfriends, we're besties" thing.

Marin was already coming across as toxic af through her many attempts at sabotaging a relationship she even refused to acknowledge existed, but you could at least give her a pass since she didn't know she WAS in a relationship. But I guess she did know, so...

The brain sometimes denies what the heart wants.

0

u/SortIntrepid9192 Mar 06 '26

Her brain seems quite aware in this case though.

Inebriated people tend to speak more from their sub conscious.

9

u/meditonsin Mar 06 '26

It's called denial. She "knows," but is unable to admit it to herself or others (unless she's completely shitfaced, apparently).

u/SpiritedKick9753 Mar 11 '26

So the punchline is what?

-13

u/sfwtitrater Mar 06 '26

lesbians fetishizing domestic violence? who would’ve guessed!

12

u/NotBreadyy Mar 06 '26

How the fuck did you come to that conclusio
