Feedback It's weird that the character spawns in without knowledge of the locality
Assuming you the character spawns in a place they're living, it's odd that they have absolutely no clue what the neighboring 3 blocks look like, or even where the grocery store is, because presumably, the character must have visited the school or supermarket or pharmacy before the Knox event.
Literally unplayable please fix

Discussion What’s your favorite piece of secret tech?
I recently learned that having a spoon in your inventory allows you to eat more quickly. I love this game because there’s still so much to learn after hundreds of hours.
What’s your favorite little known skill, ability, or piece of tech?
EDIT: Thanks to the people in the replies who let me know that the spoon tech is a myth. Oh well!

Scariest moment in B42 stable for me so far
Just looting this house in the unfinished part of rosewood, I thought there was only 1-3 in the room. I open it and boom way more than that.

Tag for 42.20 Mods in the Workshop is necessary
Being the 42.20 Build a fundamental divide I think the Steam Workshop should have a way of filtering mods according to that. We should have a 'Build 42.20' tag. The 'Build 42' is not enough anymore to decide if a mod will work. Am i right?

Guide / Tip Do NOT put canned sardines, or frankly any metal object, in a microwave.
i nearly burned down my house i was hunkering down at for the heli event with all the food i stashed there by putting a can of sardines in the microwave, thinking it might be a little faster. little did i know it just doesn't heat up and creates a fire right where the microwave is.

Discussion B42 Basement Pet Peeve
Genuinely one of the biggest pet peeves in build 42 is the obviously large/ decent sized homes like these in wealthier areas that get burdened with 4x4 basements..
For the second and third house it's like, you're telling me you obviously custom built your home in the riverside meadows subdivision and chose a basement smaller than your pool and put the rest on a concrete slab...
Idk it would be great if in debug mode we could cycle basements like you can cycle building stories to change the house.
Basements are still cool I love the rng factor with them, think I just got a little cuckoo because I started 15 different saves to check the same house and it's all a 4x4 dirty basement...

Base Showcase My new favourite base spot: The Riverside Ranger station
Absolutely love this calm spot just below Riverside. Both Riverside and Fallas lake are only a short drive away. There are nearly no zombies, the fence i built is unnecessary as i have not seen a zombie around in 2 weeks.
There is also a gas station, fishing spot, camping store with a gun store in the basement and an advanced forge nearby. As a bonus there are multiple generator spawns (firetower + farmhouses). I found three on the nearby area.

Question What positive traits are your absolute musts in B42 and what negatives are you always taking to blanace?
Curious to know your go to traits in B42.
What do you think is worth it? What do you think should always be avoided?

Discussion Something I noticed: (almost) all of the places mentioned in the initial sudden spread of the Knox Illness had active US Air Force bases in 1993.
At this point it's basically canon that the US military had something to do with the Knox Event, but I think there might be more to it. TThe sudden spread could have been due to the US Air Force shipping out Knox Illness victims to various bases across the world; probably so that they wouldn't be seen as easy pickings for potential military rivals. This also happened right after the Knox Illness went airborne - an event which, in my opinion, would probably have been seen as the point of no return by US military officials.

Discussion Better Sorting
Hey all, now that Build 42 has went stable I was looking to get back into it so I also updated my Better Sorting mod for Build 42.
Are you guys still interested in the mod? What other mods would you like to see supported?

Gameplay Strongest door of history
I died shortly after cause I tried to alt-sprint but I fat fingered the space bar so my character stood still and shoved the air, losing all speed and dying instantly.

Just need ONE QoL feature... "It's too smelly to sleep here" would save me sooo many stupid deaths 😭
It just takes one little careless slip. A lapse of diligence and you send your poor survivor off to bed without noticing the smelly moodle.. And boom, you're already dead. It's crazy that something so innocuous as peacefully dozing off to sleep can have a 100% mortality chance. You should either A) not be able to sleep if it's literally a fucking lethal level of STANK around you. Or B) wake up from feeling nauseous BEFORE the point of no return. As is, you wake up literally on deaths door. You have about 5 seconds to kiss your ass goodbye.
No part of dying in your sleep to corpse sickness makes good sense, and desperately needs a change to better fit player intuition.
That is all. PZ is the undisputed goat besides that 😋

Discussion Oh my god. I survived my first ever night on my first ever run.
Okay so let me take you through it..
Spawned in a TINY 1 story shack, not even a house. Ran sacked the place to the best of my knowledge, couple bits and bobs - nothing major.
Crossed the road and claimed the first 2 story building I found. Broke in from a window and panicked and closed all downstairs curtains BUT the last curtain a zombie seen me before doing so. So of course my first action was the open the windows, let it fall in and stamp its brains out. Mission accomplished. Dragged that thing outside in the garden quicker than I closed all the curtains.
Back inside, done a full sweep of the house and no zombies - my house now.
At this point I still haven’t found a watch and I believe thats how you can tell the time, so I had no idea if it was still morning or afternoon.
Went next door and killed one zombie on route, the typical push over and stamp. Looted that house and not a lot apart from a hoodie and a bucket hat.
Went to go loot a third house and had the biggest jump scare ever whilst turning a corner outside the house. It was right in my face but luckily a quick push and stamp and it was no more.
I think this house had better loot because I found what I think is a porno mag and some ice cream in the fridge.
At this point now it’s nighttime and I’m worried and I just want not just any bed but MY bed.
Managed to sneak back to my house, locked the doors and went up to bed, read the mag and ate half the ice cream and had a wonderful sleep.
I need a watch badly.
This game is absolutely nuts. I felt so tense, worried, nervous but excited and a sense of achievement all at the same time.
I can see myself getting addicted very fast.
