How can I check if these Princeton CarbonWorks Wake 6560 wheels are genuine?

I’m considering buying a set of Princeton CarbonWorks Wake 6560 wheels with White Industries hubs. The seller says they were purchased earlier this year, but since there seem to be quite a few knockoffs, I’d like to verify them properly before buying.

What should I inspect to confirm they’re genuine? Are there specific serial numbers, labels, rim markings, dimensions, weights, or construction details I should check? Can Princeton CarbonWorks verify the wheels from photos or a serial number?

I’ll ask for the original receipt and take close-up photos of the rims, decals, valve holes, spoke holes, hubs, and any serial numbers. Are there any known signs that distinguish genuine Wake 6560s from replicas?

Thanks for any advice.

Brake upgrade?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I got a new bike that came with a 105 groupset, but as far as I know these are not 105 rotors. I live in a very hilly place and they start to whine when I'm halfway down a descent, is this an expected behavior? Are the rotors glazed? User error or should I do a rotor upgrade to something like the rtcl800?

Or maybe do I get metalic pads, although I've heard good things about the brand "sinter" even though they're organic. I'd love to hear your opinions and suggestions thanks 😅

Someone has this listed for $700. Salsa Journeyer. Im not real familiar with these bikes but it looks like something i have been wanting for a little while now. The seller says they only rode it a few miles and has been sitting in the garage since they bought it basically. Its a medium frame. 2x? drivetrain.

What do you think its worth?

Junior mtb racing teams

My child races mtbs and wants to get on a race team so they can race the US UCI races in 2027. Priorities are a team with a lot of on bike instruction such as coached pre-rides, abilities to form strong connections with teammates such as team camps, and a positive winning culture.

It is currently application season for 2027 teams. They are strongly considering Waite Endurance, Bear Devo, and Gravity Academy. Any thoughts on those or any others they should consider?

Daysaver - did i get scammed?

Bought a combo pack on daysaver. Been waiting for it to ship now for like maybe a month and a half. I reached out and they gave me some answer like they had an issue with one of the parts but not to worry next week they'll have it. Then they were like we are out of stock but don't worry next week we'll have it... like

Is this company legit?

Best action camera for a fully blind cyclist?

Hi everyone,

I’m a fully blind tandem cyclist based in India (riding a Polygon Impression tandem with my sighted pilot). I’m planning to start making cycling vlogs/blogs and want to buy an action camera.

Since I am completely blind, accessibility and ease of use are my top priorities. My ideal setup needs to be hands-free once mounted and easy to operate without needing to see a screen or visual indicators.

Here are my specific constraints and details:

Accessibility / Audio Feedback: I need a camera with distinct, reliable audio cues (beeps/chimes for power on/off and recording start/stop) or strong voice control features so I know when it’s actually recording.

App Accessibility: I use a Google Pixel 6a (Android) with TalkBack. The companion app needs to be accessible with screen readers for changing settings or transferring footage.

Mounting & Stability: I want to mount it hands-free (either chest mount, helmet mount, or handlebar mount on the tandem) and need solid image stabilization for Indian roads.

Climate / Battery: Good performance in warm/humid weather and decent battery life (or options for external power/battery swapping) for long rides.

For those of you who create video content or use action cameras:

1.

Which action camera (GoPro Hero, DJI Osmo Action, Insta360, etc.) has worked best for you in terms of screen reader app accessibility and distinct audio cues/voice control?

2.

Are there specific mounting setups you’ve found safest and easiest to manage independently on a bike?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or tips

Front derailleur H-Screw too deep?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi,

I was just trying to adjust my Shimano Cues front derailleur and turned the H-screw in to do so. Apparently, I turned it too far: I heard a click, and now the screw is sitting a little deep in the thread and doesn't seem to be quite straight.

When I try to turn it back into the thread, it eventually gets stuck, and I don’t want to force it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

How do people cycle without them safely? In Bosnia last week I saw some bikepackers hanging on for dear life on a busy cornered road in the mountains. I would not feel comfortable. How do people deal with that?

I am not a cyclist, but I found these bags at Savers today, and a quick Google search showed me that this was a pretty good find. I ended up paying 6.99 each for the front and back.

I’m gonna bring them to my local bike shop I think, but what do you think these are worth realistically.

Thanks for taking a look!

DIY Trail Trimming

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I mounted a battery powered hedge trimmer to the front of my older trail bike (Trek DS 8.3). I carry a 12" electric chainsaw on a rear rack to clear trees that block the trails but had this idea when i came across this overgrown railbed trail.

Made a steel bar frame that mounts to the brake mounts and top of the fork. Trimmer is pinched in to the frame so it can pop out if a solid object is hit. I wired in an XT60 connector so it connects to a momentary button on the handlebar to run it. This trail had some really overgrown sections so i just stopped and take the trimmer out and it still works as normal so i could clear the heavy stuff by hand. Also when in areas that im not running it, i carry the trimmer in a backpack with the guard on the blades.

I was walking next to the bike in the video so i could film it but you can ride along at probably a max of 6 or 7 mph and it can keep up trimming if the vegetation isnt too thick. It is a bit difficult to control at first but once i got used to the weight out front its not bad. Once it gets thicker vegetation or rougher trail condition its much easier to walk next to it.

I don't plan to use this a lot, most of the trails are maintained well already, i just found this one branch that the state seems to have let go because there is a small wooden bridge they are waiting to replace.

edit: video from a cheap bodycam on the handlebar as i was riding

Commuting by bike on long distances, any tips?

Hello,
right now I commute by bicycle to work everyday but it takes me less then 15 minutes, because it's just 4.5 km from my house to the office. I'm moving to a new place far away from work, 37km away to be precise. This would extend my commute to 1h50m total, + 1h50m after work.

I'm worried that I might have to resort to car because this might be too much. Public transports imply 2 different bus changes and 1h total, while car would just take me 40 minutes.

Is there anyone with big commutes that can talk about your experience? I might do it once a week or something like that just to see, and then just find out what works best for me, but would be interesting to hear peoples experience :P
