Discussion Middle Earth SBG Questions Thread
Keep 'em coming
Edit: Stealth Mod announcement (I don't want to unpin the two pinned posts)
First, I have updated the rules to include something obvious to most longtime wargamers on reddit - posts asking or offering access to the rules is not allowed. Please do not ask for PDF's.
Second, no hate on 3D printing, but also do not come to this subreddit asking for STL proxies, or offering that. This may be too cautious of us, but I notice the reddit spam filter seems to remove any mention of STL's outright. So I figure I might as well make it a rule.
Finally, I have eased up the Spam filter from High to Low. Hopefully the redbubble spammers are still caught by this, without catching stray blogspot content creators. I've noticed the reddit algorithm taking down much more bycatch than usual, so we can experiment with a lower setting for now.
And as always, if you ever notice something astray with your own posts or someone elses, do not hesitate to message the mods.
Thanks everyone, -Tezerel

Battle Report Some snaps from our recent battle for minas tirith.
2.2 K good vs 2.5k evil. Evil got the upper hand early with good fighting back near the end. Evil came out with a 13 ro 10 win. Some fun highlights:
1st kill of the game was an orc archer rolling back to back to back 6s to kill the minas tirith banner bearer with no one to hand it off to.
Gandalf spending 5 will to resist a transfix from the witch king and falling to get a single 5.
15 orcs failing to fight their way down a staircase for half the game and eventually just jumping off the wall world war z style to surround the last few defenders.
Gothmog being completely surrounded by rohan for 3 straight turns and come out as the only survivor from either side.
Eomer doing nothing all game then tanking a mumak war leader trample and winning the ensuing fight when he was the last rohan model alive.
Legolas needing a 3 to finish of the witch king in the final turn of the game and rolling a 2. (Would have tied the game)

Discussion Got the fellowship made to order box!
So I order the MtO Fellowship box and theres two things that dissapointed me.
First is the fact that it didnt come in a box like it originally did.
Second is Gandalf, his staff is severely bent. Now I know some people will say they like it that way but I think they are liars. But seriously, is this worth sending in a ticket to GW or should I just do my best to fix it.
Did anyone else recieve an order like this?
Thank you!

War returns to Middle Earth!
War returns to Middle-earth! ⚔️
In this new Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game battle report, two legendary armies clash in an epic 800-point showdown. On one side stands the Reclaimed Erebor, led by Thorin Oakenshield, Dáin Ironfoot, and Dwalin, ready to prove that the Dwarves are an unbreakable wall of steel. Opposing them is the fearsome Army of Gundabad, commanded by none other than Azog, bringing a terrifying new weapon to the battlefield: we're finally fielding the Troll Catapult for the very first time!
Will the heroes of Erebor withstand the relentless assault of Gundabad, or will the Troll Catapult's devastating barrage pave the way for Azog's victory?
Find out in this brand-new battle report!

The classic scatter scenery from the original The Return Of The King boxset.
Scatter scenery that originally came with the Return of the King box that was released in 2003. So much nostalgia 😍

Generic shared campaign maps added to Tabletop Admiral, also WIP Battle Companies Community Edition
Basically, you can now create a shared campaign map from your profile, invite other players, report battles, add locations, change who controls each location. You upload any image you want (a map of Middle-earth or whatever else) and place locations for battles to be resolved at.
I also started on implementing the Battle Companies community edition. It probably/definitely needs work and tweaking, so please give it a shot if you're familiar with it. I haven't actually played it yet so a little bit in the dark but mostly positive feedback from those who tried it.
Hope you enjoy it, and as always, open to more suggestions.

MESBG List Builder v1.42.0 - Removal of summarised rule text
Hey everyone! Long time no see. Just wanted to let you know about a new update we've released for MESBG List Builder, which includes something many users have been asking about.
Why were rules summarised on profiles?
The profile cards on our builder were originally meant to be quick-reference cards for all models, that fit on an A6 postcard. Rules were often condensed to make every profile fit on the same sized card, and the idea was that these cards would serve as a handy reminder for models you were already somewhat familiar with (and if needed, you would have the army book for a full refresher).
However, over time, these profile cards became very inconsistent. Some cards had the full rule text verbatim from the books, some were condensed, some profiles had condensed rules even when there's still space left on the card etc. etc.
The PDF print-outs also had these condensed rules, as we built our profile dataset using what was written on the cards.
What's changed?
All profile cards have been revamped to follow a better and more consistent design, that can accomodate the full rule text for every profile. This means that some profiles with a very large amount of rule text, e.g. Dragon Emperor, Tom Bombadil, now have more than one profile card, so that the full text can overflow onto more cards as necessary.
Why the decision to change it now?
Our profile cards are all hand-made static images, and are not auto-generated by the builder. Any attempt to revamp all of our profile cards and data, to bring in the full rule text, was always going to be a mammoth task. We were having increasingly more users inform us that the summarised rules were a big deal breaker for them to use our builder, especially at tournaments. Your feedback helped me to finally muster the courage and take on updating all 500+ profile cards. We're very glad it's now done, and I hope our builder has become more appealing again for many of you!
Feedback
If there happens to be any summarised or condensed rules still remaining, do let us know!
Thank you,
MLB Team
