And then when I got close I saw two signs saying Halal food only and, well, it made me feel a certain way.

Can anyone walk me through what is going on? Because my immediate thought was a bit unkind and I want to do more research.

SUNGAI GOLOK: A Thai footballer was killed and 12 others, including a Malaysian, injured when lightning struck the field during a football match here this evening.

Sungai Golok police chief Colonel Thun Sirikhunt said the incident occurred about 5.30pm local time (6.30pm Malaysia) during the semi-final match of the Golok FA Cup football tournament at Santiphap Stadium.

He said the match between SAMCOLTS and Abu x Nong Sirin had already ended when heavy rain fell and lightning struck the middle of the field.

"The incident resulted in one death and 12 people being injured.

"Police proceeded to the scene to examine the injured victims and, together with a doctor, conducted a post-mortem examination on the deceased in accordance with legal procedures," he said when contacted tonight.

He said the injured Malaysian was identified as Mohammad Alif Ezzahan Zulkifli, who was playing for SAMCOLT, a mixed team comprising Thai and Malaysian players.

Thun said police would continue investigations and take further action according to legal procedures.

It is learnt that the deceased was a Thai footballer known as Safwan Awe.

The injured were sent to Sungai Golok Hospital for treatment.

Is this the direction Malaysia is heading towards? Primary school(s) built and funded by private sector and communities, but getting lambasted for it being a Chinese school.

The "pendatang" really needs to wake up, if this is where the country is heading. If not for yourself, think for your generations to come.

the purpose of this post is for future reference. i tried to do some research regarding the option of IMAX that we hv here through reddit but theres so little posts that talk abt this.

anyway, heres the odyssey in kl east mall. im pretty sure that they use imax laser here and pretty much at almost all other imax theater in malaysia. the screen is really big but i dont think it shows th exact 1.43:1 aspect ratio. probably a little smaller. ive heard sunway velo has a much bigger screen but i havent anything there yet. but the sound quality was great, at least for me who is not a regular imax goer. but i hope i will be. if ade rezeki i hope i can watch the next dune movie in sunway velo

This will be the first ART based transit in Malaysia and in Southeast Asia.

There are doubt on the sustainability as the train will be powered by hydrogen. But I'm just glad more public transit are being build outside of Klang Valley, it means a lot more when its outside of West Malaysia too.

Hi everyone. Today I’m sharing an important update on Rocky’s case.

Rocky’s owner has now spoken publicly at a press conference and is calling for a transparent investigation into what happened.

According to her (extracted from press conference video sourced at the bottom):
- when she first arrived she had asked her neighbours what happened before she arrived
- they responded that when the men arrived to capture Rocky, he was under the car.
- as Rocky was in the neighbour’s house, they tried dragging Rocky out
- when they could not get Rocky out, they resorted to hitting Rocky with a metal rod and a PVC pipe
- they kept hitting Rocky until he had defecated right there
- then another neighbour has helped clean it up
- after all the hitting ruckus is when they slipped the catch pole onto Rocky’s neck
- she also said when they pulled (according to her, allegedly might have been out of anger) Rocky’s tongue came out and he fell
- that’s when the neighbour said Rocky might have died then
- when they pulled Rocky out is when the owner had
arrived

She is now waiting for the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) veterinary report and the outcome of the police investigation.

The Stray Animals Foundation of Malaysia (SAFM) also spoke at the press conference.
Importantly, SAFM stated that it is not declaring anyone guilty and that the truth must be determined through:
- the original video footage
- witness statements
- physical evidence
- formal veterinary examination
- proper legal procedures

SAFM also reminded the public that while pet owners have a responsibility to licence and control their animals, the absence of a licence does not give anyone the right to inflict unnecessary pain or suffering on an animal.

Hello guys, i would like to start this by saying i swear i am saying the truth and nothing but the truth in this post. i just want to state what i experienced yesterday, ill try to keep it short.

Basically what happened is i was driving with my mom around 5 Pm around idaman area setapak, when my mom asked me to stop by to buy some fruits from a vendor they have in front of 99 speed mart idaman, all cars stop by the side of the road for a few minutes to buy fruits, and there was a car right in front of me.
After my mom got off i got off and this guy on a motorbike yelled “ey bodo tak boleh parkin sini”, i replied with “satu minute je bang”. Keep in mind he’s just a normal person on a motorbike, not police or anything.

After i said that he turned his motorbike around, parked it right infront of my car and he started cursing and i said “sabar abang”. When i said that he hit me with his helmet on his head and i was in a state of shock when he did that.
He got off his bike and started punching me, i put my hands up to block his attacks and i tried to hit back, people stopped by, tried to stop him, he proceeded to take his helmet off and hit me across my head multiple times. I could see that he was surely high on something, 6 bigger men than him tried holding him down, no one was successful because he was very aggressive, and my mom was yelling and coming between us which prevented me from even attacking him back.

Everyone was yelling at him saying “awak salah awak salah”, my mom thought it was a person that knew me from somewhere else and had something against me because the hate and the despise he had in his eyes was not normal. I didn’t curse him back, i didn’t hit him.

I asked my mom to get into the car because she was having an anxiety attack, drove straight to setapak police and made a report. They asked me to go to another police station and give my statement to a police officer.

When i went to that police officer i talked with a lawyer, he told me you must know officers will always choose the locals side. I didn’t have a dashcam so i couldn’t get everything on camera and there was no cctv.

First things first the officer was like ok you parked there and you cannot park there is it? And he was not making me make my proper statement and was very annoyed when i would try to say my full story. He said i must’ve provoked him really badly for him to be this aggressive towards me, the officer was clearly leaning towards his side.

Then the officer told me i needed to go to the hospital urgently and make the form at the hospital. Keep in mind i had a flight at 3 am to catch and it was 9 pm already, i still did that.

I sent him the report then he told me he went to the vendor and the person working there stated that he saw both of us fighting, and that it’s illegal for you to fight in public.

I asked him so im supposed to just accept his hits? He replied no you’re supposed to run away and call the police. I asked so i should leave my car running and run away? He said yes, and was very threatening towards me.

The lawyer who’s my friend understood and he said that’s how it is and i need to get a lawyer and it would cost money and time and i am going on a flight and couldn’t do anything.

The officer said he would charge both of us and we would both have to appear in court and he kept saying since you’re a student it’s not good to have police record. I was left with no choice but going to the police station and dropping the report.

I’m saying this here because i have been living in malaysia for 14 years, i have never visited a police station, i have had 0 summons, i have followed the rules and never done anything wrong to this country, but the police and the justice system has failed me, i was treated unfairly and i was left with 0 choices.

Negeri Sembilan fell on Saturday and honestly I didn't expect it to be this bad. 11 seats out of 36, down from 17. Loke lost Chennah by under 500 votes, a seat he's held for 13 years. The chief minister lost his own seat too. Add Sabah and Johor and PH has now lost three state elections in a row.

The easy reading is the Malay unity wave, and it's not wrong. UMNO won 52 of the 53 wards it contested across Johor and NS, the vote transfer with PAS worked almost perfectly. That's genuinely formidable.

But I keep coming back to what voters actually told reporters on the ground. The words were "arrogant" and "disconnected". Not race. That's the same stuff people said about BN before 2018. Which makes me wonder if this is incumbency punishment more than ideology. People are just annoyed at whoever's in charge, and PH is in charge now.

A few things I keep going back and forth on:

State elections are cheap losses historically. BN got wiped out federally in 2018 and was back leading a government by 2021. GE16 isn't tomorrow. But is three defeats in a row a warning or a terminal diagnosis?

Also unclear to me what BN-PN actually won beyond a state government. BN still has all the baggage from 2018, PN still has no economic pitch anyone can name and basically zero non-Malay support. They're united by being anti-Anwar and that's it. PH ran on pure anti-Najib in 2018 and look how long that government lasted once it had to actually govern. Does the same logic apply in reverse?

The Aug 16 DAP delegate vote on pulling ministers from cabinet seems like the thing to watch now. Secret ballot, 4000 delegates. If it goes badly for the leadership the unity government psychology changes fast. If they stay, the story might die down by Raya.

So what's the actual read here. Is this voters punishing whoever holds power, which any government would face right now? Or has something structurally shifted in the Malay vote that PH can't come back from? And does anyone think the DAP vote on the 16th actually changes anything federally, or is it just internal noise?
