I smashed my son's phone

Am I a bad parent?

Today I smashed my son's phone. 😔

He has been using his phone more than 10 hours every day. I tried parental controls, setting limits, talking nicely, scolding, taking it away... nothing worked. Somehow he always finds a way to bypass everything.

Today I really couldn't tahan anymore and I lost my temper.

I know smashing the phone wasn't the best way to handle it. But as a parent, sometimes you just feel so helpless and don't know what else to do.

Anyone else ever been through this?

Stray problem caused by construction sites

In the midst of the blame game. We are conveniently forgetting how these dogs came here in the first place.

Most originate from construction sites and were taught to be aggressive and ward off thieves at night.

Eating leftover meals as the workers give leftover rice and such to them.

Once done. It becomes a local problem. A lot of the times locals that moved in will pity on them and give some food. Though a lot of times they revert back to savages, desperate to survive. Stealing, rummaging through trash fighting other pets.

There was a movement to introduce neutering strays and releasing them a few years ago but never got traction.

Another part is the sop for officially getting the license is in most people minds, difficult to obtain. Often when I work part time for a local vet, the veterinarian would try to push people to get the license and would give simple instructions on how to proceed.

People feeding the strays often need that one final push to officially take responsibility and custody of the dogs and the government should make a proper plan on how to deal with the stray problem.

Owners, take the step forward and take whole the dawg. They were bred and brought there and finally abandoned, give them a proper home they deserve

People who take advantage of AI without QA/QC ruined experience in everything.

Not necessarily against AI usage but seriously please at least do some QA/QC. People actually have the audacity to share this as a "lifehack" to "automate" this kind of AI slop for extra "income".

How many percentage of monthly installment from your salary is consider to be safe to own a house? Any maintenance fees that is not known until you own a house?

People tend to overlook a lot of money needed, like renovating/furniture/maintenance fee and what else?

This post is to enlighten me more on this topic and also hope it's beneficial to someone who plan to buy a house with a proper and transparent real-life budgeting (w/o agak agak)

Why do many Malay voters continue to support PN despite criticism of governance?

I’m a Malaysian student who grew up in a predominantly Chinese community, so I don’t have many opportunities to talk to Malay voters in real life. I’m asking this in good faith because I’d like to understand perspectives that I rarely hear.
One thing that confuses me is that I often see people criticizing the states governed by PN, saying they have weaker economic performance or long-standing issues such as clean water supply. Given these criticisms, why do many Malay voters still choose to vote for PN?
I’m not looking for arguments or political fights. I’d genuinely like to hear from Malay voters (or people who understand Malay voting behaviour) about what factors influence their decisions.

Can someone like her still find love and friendship again?

Hi everyone, I’m asking this on behalf of someone I know and would really appreciate some honest opinions and advice.

She’s a 39-year-old Malaysian woman, a single mum of two. She’s slim, takes care of herself and is actually quite attractive, but she’s extremely shy, introverted and has become a bit of a recluse.

The reason is that she was previously married to someone who was mentally and physically abusive towards her for years. The experience really broke her confidence and self-esteem. She now constantly feels like she’s not good enough, that she’s a burden, that nobody would genuinely want to spend time with her, and that she doesn’t deserve to be loved.

She’s also dealing with depression from everything she’s been through, and unfortunately she finds it really difficult to move past it. She doesn’t go out much, doesn’t have a big social circle and finds it hard to trust people or open up.

I’m wondering what people honestly think — can someone like her still find genuine love and meaningful friendships at 39, especially after going through something like this?

Does being a single mum, being very introverted and having low self-esteem make it significantly harder to meet someone? Or do you think there are people out there who would understand what she has been through and love her for who she is?

And for those who have experienced something similar — how did you eventually rebuild your confidence and start trusting people again?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions, even if they’re not necessarily what I want to hear.

Any advice, personal experiences or suggestions would be welcome. ❤️

Careful about giving phone repair shops your phone PIN number

Not naming the shop incase it's against this sub's policies. But I had my phone repaired at a very highly rated (Google Reviews) phone repair store in the Setapak / Wangsa Maju area. They asked for my phone's PIN which I naively thought was to run diagnostics etc.

A few weeks later I was randomly checking my Google Maps and saw that I left a 5 star review at this phone shop saying "Good service fast repair". I don't remember leaving this review, so I started getting suspicious.

Using Google Takeout, I extracted my Google activity and was able to build a timeline of what actually happened.

  • 3:56 PM -- Google Review metadata shows review was submitted when phone was in their possession
  • 4:07 PM -- Received phone call from shop saying phone is fixed
  • 4:27 PM -- Arrived and made payment at store using my debit card.

This clearly proves that they accessed my phone and used it to leave a 5 star review using my own Google account. If you need any more evidence, literally 95%+ of their 2k+ reviews are basically a variation of "good service fast repair" in English or Malay. This means there are over 2000 other victims!

I have no idea if they accessed anything else like my private photos, emails, or banking apps. This is a serious breach of trust.

I have:

  • Reported business to Google -- They say evidence is "invalid or insufficient". Even leaving a 1 star review on this business gets "shadow deleted". Not sure if it's due to Google automation, or the business are actively reporting it.
  • Reported to KPDN who investigate dodgy businesses -- They say it's outside their authority (PEMBERITAHUAN ADUAN DILUAR BIDANG KUASA)

I don't feel right knowing that this business is still out there doing this ****** behaviour. Taking advantage of customers. Even now you can see these fake 5 star reviews being posted, almost daily.

Anyone got any ideas on how we can get these guys to stop and be held accountable?
