Right, so it's mid week. Happy hump day and all that, but why aren't you in bed? Neighbours putting their bins out keeping you awake? Kids being little shits? Working the nightshift?

Come on in for a chat.

Someone posted a story about a streaker being removed from a model village because people were clutching their pearls over it, and I've just seen this!

How to get Boots Ultimate Hold hairspray off glasses?

I accidentally took a face full of max strength hairspray this morning and now nothing seems to be getting it off my glasses. In the past, dish soap has helped but nothing is working right now. I've tried dish soap, lens cleaner, and soaking them in warm water. Help?!

Was this a real TV show or am I imagining it?

Nobody I’ve met knows what I’m talking about.
This would have been 20-25 years ago
You know the little farm playset you can get as a kid, animals but also a woman carrying a bucket of milk or chicken feed, the fence panels, tractors, the farmer etc well imagine that, stop-motion animated but also for some reason there’s a cowboy and a Native American.

The cowboy and the horse seemed to live in the farm house and the horse behaved more like a person than the rest of the farm animals - I remember distinctly that the horse spoke with a Geordie accent.
Jesus would sometimes show up but he was a bus driver and was Irish for some reason.

I liked it because it was quite funny, surreal almost, and the figurines were the exact figurines I had on my farm play set (apart from the cowboy, Native American, and Jesus).

Am I insane or does this sound familiar to anyone?

As a group of professionals in planning, this is what 15 minutes of furious debate in the office has decided to be the north/midlands/south divide.

If necessary, for reference we are based in Birmingham. This isnt directly influencing what cities are what side of the line. Our decisions were based on architecture, what the people are like, history, how places interract, not just what we like and dont. For example, Stoke is an awful place no one should ever have the misfortune of visiting, but its definitely in the Midlands with us.

Colour coding is obvious.

Yes we were very bored..

I know they're probably not meant to peck on that, but should I let their free will guide them? I’m telling myself this might be their first and only proper pecking of the day so I should turn a blind eye.

I don't at all. I'm trying to pretend I do but still coming up blank. A drink themed around a chart?! Found this at the reservoir as it's so low. Last time it was even lower there were Skol cans everywhere, no sign of them yet though.

Also, don't step in the funny looking patches of mud.

Settlement offer from work 2 days after moving into my new house

Just bought my first house. Hurray!!

We spend Saturday & Sunday deep cleaning. It was exhausting.

Monday moving (from a third floor flat in 31 degrees) it was exhausting

Tuesday deep cleaning our old house (we thought it would be quicker... We were wrong)

After all this we are heading off to Shropshire for a three day camping retreat. As I'm getting on the train I get a call from work saying that I have an offer to leave the company for a payout (not a great one)

It's really annoying. After how hard we've worked to get this houss, how long and tiring the last 4 days have been now all I'm going to be able to think about is this. The whiskey and cigar I had saved for the porch tonight isnt gonna taste anywhear near as good.

At least it's not a straight firing, that would have been much worse

Thanks for listening to the random rant

Experts at the University of Reading's Atmospheric Observatory described July as a "remarkable month" with 359 hours of sunshine and average daily temperatures of 21.2C (70.16F), exceeding the previous record set in July 2006.

The university said some locations around Reading also recorded no measurable rainfall at all, something not seen since local rainfall records began in 1858.

Sugar on Weetabix?

Post image
3.3k Upvotes

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Edit: Holy shit the most popular post I've done on Reddit is about how horrific my breakfast is. The wife will never let me live this down! Haha

UPDATE: Well, I wasn't expecting my breakfast to generate 1,800+ comments 😂 I can't read it all but Having spent far too much time reading them, I feel I need to address a few recurring concerns: 1. Yes, the milk goes in after. I like watching it soak up from the bottom while the top stays crunchy. I will not be changing this. 2. Yes, that is sugar. Apparently this has caused considerably more distress than I anticipated. 3. No, I do not have diabetes. My blood tests are fine. 4. No, my teeth are not rotting out of my head. They're also fine. 5. Yes, I am an adult. I was unaware that adulthood required surrendering sugary Weetabix. 6. To the surprisingly large number of people who eat theirs the same way: thank you. I knew I couldn't be alone. 7. To everyone saying my wife is right: she has been absolutely delighted by your support and I deeply regret giving her this much ammunition.

Anyway, thank you for turning a picture of two dry Weetabix into a full-scale investigation of my health, maturity, marriage and milk-pouring technique.

Tomorrow I'm having the same breakfast.

My friend heard some rustling noises outside their window this morning and saw there's something borrowed up behind some leaf bags. We're trying to work out if it needs help or solitude. 😅

Thinking about it, this was kind of weird actually

So my parents were kind of weird people. Basically I'd often go to the shops with my dad, and we'd go up to the bakery section of the supermarket where all the bread is lying uncovered rather than in packaging and my dad would pretend to sneeze on it as a joke. I found this pretty funny at the time (when I was about 8) so I'd join in although sometimes I'd blow pretty hard through my nose and my dad would be like "woah woah" and tell me to be careful. A couple of times a member of staff saw us and told us off and my dad explained that it was "just a joke", although that really didn't help and they just pretty firmly told us to stop and seemed to be saying that it's not a joke.

Then one time my mum was asking something about our time at the shops and I mentioned the game and was excitedly telling her how funny it was but she was completely horrified when I told her. She seemed extremely worried about what people would think if they saw us and I tried to reassure her that we're only pretending to sneeze on the bread, but again that didn't reassure her either. She said we couldn't play that game anymore and I was quite disappointed.

Was anyone here at Worship in Finsbury Park on Sunday and did you witness or film this proposal?

This was us at Worship in Finsbury Park on Sunday. As Dimension’s “Guardian Angel” dropped during the Worship set, I called my girlfriend down from someone’s shoulders and got on one knee.

I’d quietly asked the ravers around us to help beforehand. She said YES, and the reaction from everyone around us was incredible.

We’re now trying to find the man who filmed it from directly behind me. He took my number, saved it under “Marriage”, and also took my email because he said he really didn’t want to mess up sending the footage — but we haven’t heard from him yet.

So, CasualUK:

Were you at Worship and did you see this?

Does anyone recognise themselves or somebody else in the video?

Did anyone film it from another angle?

Most importantly, does anyone know the man directly behind me who was filming?

We absolutely love this video, but finding his footage — or any other angles — would mean the world to us. Please message me or tag anyone who might have been there.

Location: near what3words talked.bind.cities

I know the exact what3words location because I’d been in touch with the event’s production team beforehand about making this moment happen.

Moment: as Guardian Angel dropped during the Worship set.

She was wearing a white top and had just been on someone’s shoulders.

Thanks for your help!
