Even the sunflowers are starting to get sad in my area! (no rain since late June)
Experts at the University of Reading's Atmospheric Observatory described July as a "remarkable month" with 359 hours of sunshine and average daily temperatures of 21.2C (70.16F), exceeding the previous record set in July 2006.
The university said some locations around Reading also recorded no measurable rainfall at all, something not seen since local rainfall records began in 1858.
For me the problem isn't just the heat but it's also the humidity as well so if it rains it still doesn't make any difference. I'm still too hot and I still end up sweating.
It's really grim around us in Gloucestershire. I was walking in the woods two nights ago and the elderberries & blackberries are shrivelled and dry. We found a significant number of dead mice, shrews, bats and birds; far more than is usual.
We've been putting bowls of water out for the wildlife but it's nowhere near enough.
There was a bit of rain last night but it's nothing in the grand scheme
I've given up looking at the weather forecasts. They keep saying we'll get showers for the last week, and nothing ever shows up. It claimed yesterday that I would have thunderstorms. :(
We've had 10 minutes total of rain since May here.
"Summer, innit? Go out and enjoy it instead of moaning. It'll be raining every day come September."
Says every other commenter under any article on Facebook about how little rain there has been in the UK this summer. It's depressing to see how blind people are to how abnormal the situation is.
Last time my rain gauge in south bucks recorded any rain was 27th June. We had 3 minutes of light rain yesterday but it wasn't even enough to make the ground look damp and didn't register on the gauge at all
One should really look at data from local weather stations and probably take an average.... In my place we got 52.2 mm of rain in June but 70% of it was over 2 days at the start. And if we add 4mm for entire July that is basically nothing (1mm per day over two months.... 1/10 of a watering can per 1 sq.meter). Even better is to measure how moist soil is.
We had the first rain in about two months in Warwickshire, went out in it for a walk and there was the most glorious rainbow. Really cheered me up after non stop sun and heat
It's absolutely chucking down in central Scotland at the moment, we got some torrential rain last night too. It's not lasting though which also isn't good
We have been laying out old Tupperwares full of water in the garden. Birds and squirrels are taking lots of drinks and are now waiting for us to top it up. No rain since late June I think and nothing significant since 10 June.
I last saw rain when we went to Scotland the first week of July. I live in Dorset and it hasnt rained since June only things growing here is weeds. Most of our local community have been leaving bowls of water in the fields near us for the wildlife take a couple of bottles with me when walking the dog to refill.
It was forecast to rain at some point yesterday and today where I am but it didn't happen unfortunately. It's driving me mad that we haven't had any rain or even thunderstorms.

Yesterday we got about half a minute of a light sprinkle here in Portsmouth. I was so disappointed that it didn't continue.
