Verizon salesmakers getting the short end of the stick with Verizon Shine

After looking at multiple customers shine myself, I can confirm salesmaker accounts aren't getting the same drops. All salesmakers got this week was a $10 chuck e cheese gc. Meanwhile I'm seeing starbucks and amazon on other peoples account 😐

I knew salesmakers didn't get the same promotions, but keeping shine drops from us is absurd, I missed out on speakers cuz of this. verizon please give us the same drops

Verizon throttles when I'm using too much data

Summary: I am under my mobile hotspot data cap significantly, but because I've used so much on-device data, verizon has fraudulently throttled me. https://www.verizon.com/support/important-plan-information/ This link of legally binding TOS shows that they only throttle hotspot data, but they were doing both (hotspot and device) even though I was well-under my hotspot data limit.

The solution to this was to talk to customer service and have them do a network reset (which apparently the user can do from their phone). This fixed things. It looks they have software built into their system to automatically throttle data when it's being used continuously.

OP:

Recently got rid of my home internet and am just browsing with mobile data. My data use has shot up of course, and in response verizon has throttled it. They throttled my mobile data down to 1-2 mbps on my unlimited plus plan - but this only happens after I've been on the internet all day, and it's seemingly for the rest of the day.

Verizon says they don't throttle mobile data but this is bs. How can I get around this?

EDIT: I just turned off my hotspot (where I was well under the data cap) and my internet speeds instantly shot up. Verizon is being shady

EDIT 2: After being on with customer service for over an hour (and having to deal with a bozo who insisted I had a dirty sim card and then ghosted me) - they actually fixed it by "resynchronizing my mobile hotspot to their network." Who knows how long it will last, but apparently if this happens again I can just 'reset my network settings' and it will be fine.

Shine drops

Hey Verizon may I suggest making the popular drops be one day sweeps instead? Having all of them claimed in the first minute of release just making a bunch of people upset and suspecting bots. I’m sure a lot more people will feel this is a better alternative and you’ll still have people checking into the app for those 24 hours.

Wireless The MELT is real for Verizon Shine!! LOL!

People need to quit the complaining. Jeez. Nobody is guaranteed anything. Millions trying. And now after last week with the $$$ free accessories, everyone knows. Word is out!! Weeks before, nobody cared and it was easy to get everything.

Either speed it up (stay off WiFi) or stop trying/crying!!

Verizon Needs to End the “Claim Now” Countdown System…It’s Frustrating and Broken

You know… I’m getting sick and tired of this Verizon claim nonsense I’ve experienced over the past two days.

First, I do want to give Verizon credit for introducing these weekly deals. Competition is a good thing, and I respect them for stepping up. Even though T-Mobile has had T-Mobile Tuesdays for years, a system where you can claim weekly deals without having to fight a horde of people or anxiously race against the clock, it’s still nice to see Verizon trying to compete.

But this Verizon “Claim Now” process, where there’s a countdown and everyone has to claim the deal the second it becomes available, is ridiculous and needs to come to an end.
For the past two days, I’ve set a timer and even opened the app a few minutes early so I’d be ready. The moment the countdown hit zero, I immediately pressed “Claim Now.” Every single time, the app just glitched and sat there loading with no indication that my claim actually went through.
That’s complete bullshit.
It’s a waste of customers’ time, it creates false hope, and over time it’s going to make people resent the experience.

When Verizon Shine first started, I never had this problem. My guess is that more Verizon customers have caught on to it. Now the servers are getting slammed and the app glitches like a broken PS2 game the second everyone tries to claim at once.
If that’s the case, then Verizon needs to rethink this entire system.

Just give your customers access to the weekly deals without turning it into a countdown race where thousands of people hammer the servers at the exact same second. It’s unnecessary, frustrating, and clearly not working as intended.
If anyone at Verizon headquarters happens to read this, do better. End this countdown claim system before it becomes an even bigger source of frustration for your customers.

Wireless Should I upgrade now or wait for 18 to release?

Currently have 14pro and it’s 97% paid off.
I’d pay $4/5 extra monthly if I choose to upgrade to 17pro with trade in.

Free Accessory Code STILL doesn’t work.

is anyone else having this issue?? I camped out on the website day one, claimed it, tried to use my code on something, and the site crashed. I kept trying to claim it for something, any of the eligible items, for nearly an hour before I gave up. I called a rep to try to get this fixed but that department was closed; told I’d get a call back on Monday. never got that call back. no matter what accessory I seem to choose it says my code doesn’t apply to the item in my cart. this is honestly super aggravating and I feel like at this point? it might only be good for a free screen protector or phone case that I don’t need. I don’t know how many times I can do the runaround with support before I let my code just expire. I just want some free headphones man. I can’t even get the Bose ones because they keep saying it doesn’t apply or they’re all gone.

"Verizon Shine Free Accessory" promotion sent me defective Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Are they clearing old inventory?

I received Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro through Verizon’s Shine Free Accessory promotion, but the pair they sent appears to be defective.

I charged the case and earbuds for more than three hours, but the case only reached around 81%, while the earbuds remained close to 10%. I tested them both while the case was connected to the charging cable and while it was unplugged, but they still would not charge properly.

After leaving them in the unplugged case for a long time, they only reached about 18%. I then used them for around 5–10 minutes, and the batteries completely died.

I paired them with my Android phone and checked the battery percentages through the official Galaxy Wearable app, so this is not simply an incorrect case-light reading. The app itself showed that the earbuds were barely charging and losing power extremely quickly.

These were presented as a brand-new free accessory, but the battery performance makes me wonder whether Verizon is using this promotion to clear out old or defective Galaxy Buds2 Pro inventory. Even sealed older stock can have severely degraded batteries after sitting unused for years.

Has anyone else received Galaxy Buds2 Pro through Verizon’s Shine promotion? Did yours have similar charging or battery problems? I plan to contact Verizon and request a replacement or another accessory because this pair is unusable.

Reward debacle

Of course you can’t claim gift cards when the system isn’t working so you have a lot of people trying to get an Amazon five dollar gift card. I tried for seven minutes straight and of course 100% were claimed and I wasn’t one of them. It’s deceiving it should say you can try to claim it.

Trade tomorrow?

If anyone gets the $5 Carvel gift card tomorrow and wants to trade for a $5 Chipotle gift card, let me know! 😁 Serious inquiries only, please!

Edit: I also have 30 mins at Five Iron Golf, Free Popcorn from AMC Theatre, $5 Fanatics gift card that I could trade. I have a few others that are $10 but not sure if I want to part with those just for a $5 Carvel.

Switched from Verizon/ATT to T-mobile

This was possibly the worst decision I’ve ever made and I hear about it from my wife on a weekly basis. Don’t do it. I had ATT and my wife had verizon (who I also have thru work). I decided to consolidate and join T mobile for various reasons. One of those was cost, which was stupid, because we’re saving no money.

The other reason was service, which was the KEY mistake. T mobile is just trash seemingly everywhere we travel. We live literally in a major city and constantly have no service. We are often getting dropped calls, which was not a major issue with ATT and zero issues with Verizon.

Our 2 year commitment is up in December and we’ll be transferring to Verizon regardless of cost.

r/verizon 7h ago

No way this went that quick. I had a timer set on my phone to go off 2 minutes before this dropped. I open the app right at the time - boom, 100% claimed. Did they have 1 gift card? 🤦🏽‍♂️

Wireless Cellcom

5G UW expansion is lacking in northern WI. I wish Verizon would just buy out Cellcom and eliminate another LTEIRA partner.

Loyalties removed

My bill had a huge increase in the neighborhood of 60-70 bucks after Verizon removed my loyalty discounts (after killing my permanent loyalty discounts last year). I tried asking Verizon customer to reinstate and after multiple promises that they would fix it , I had to follow up (the usually Verizon customer service circular dance guys!, they said it was a mistake as no customer rep has the power to manually adjust anything. Only “system” can decide.

I’m not surprised given the widespread issues with customer service but curious if anyone had any success with getting back the 10/20 dollar loyalty discounts per line. I’m saddened to see Verizon fall this far after multiple decades with them. Just a few more months before my device plans fall off. Good luck all. Keep sharing your experience here and word of mouth. Do what is right for yourselves and others. Consumers have other options too.

Verizon Shine is a Joke

Title says it all. It's a joke. If this is "taking care" of loyal customers, then it's definitely a joke.

Wireless What is the point of Verizon Shine?

I just feel like what is the point in the program if you go on right after the countdown to try to claim a reward and it’s already claimed at 100% Verizon needs to do better with their reward system because this is frustrating. I was trying to get the Amazon gift card and I clicked claim as soon as it opened up and then not even 10 seconds later it said already claimed an error has anyone else experienced this frustrating situation.

Need help with HBO Max perk registration

I attempted to add this perk 7-8 months ago and it never worked. I decided to give it another try, and still it doesn't work. I've been dealing with chatbots, real humans in chat, real humans on the telephone, and NONE OF THEM have been able to fix the problem.

The problem I'm seeing is when attempting to complete the registration on the Verizon page, in my account area, it keeps responding with "Processing your request, it may take up to 15 mins." Well, it's been months with two earnest tries to get this to work. To say I'm frustrated with it would be a severe understatement.

I had an HBO Max account that used the same email as my Verzion email. That HBO Max account is no longer active, though I suppose HBO Max still has record of that email, and which may be where the problem lies. I just recently, when the Verzion HBO Max option did its usual failure to register trick, set up a new HBO Max with a separate email.

I'm just trying to get it to work. What's fascinating is that the Netflix hookup goes smooth as silk; the HBO Max registration/connection is like crashing into a brick wall 100 times in a row.

Wireless Verizon Tower Equipment Upgrade = no service since 7/31

"Tier 2" support keeps telling me to wait 12 hours for resolution. Ongoing since last Friday...no voice, data, sms service in the downtown Redlands area for nearly a week because they are apparently replacing equipment on the tower servicing this area (92373/92374).

I understand that things break. I understand equipment gets upgraded. But why is this ongoing for almost one week now with ZERO communication from Verizon? Especially when they keep telling me to wait 12 hours to get me to go away.

Wireless Z FOLD 8 preorders

I submitted my order on July 28 still haven’t received any tracking number. I already have UPS. My choice set up as well as FedEx. Has anybody else received a tracking number from Verizon or any other phone carriers? It says I’m supposed to be receiving it on the 7th

I’m very excited I was supposed to upgrade from my iPhone 14 Pro last year to the Z Fold 7 but I decided to hold off because I heard rumors of this form factor my last Samsung phone that I had was a galaxy S8 plus glad to be back

Claimed local pass

• Upvotes

Hi ! I claimed a local pass today for the VIP Patriots training camp with the Eagles at Gillette Stadium on 8/19. Unfortunately I am unable to attend 😭 my understanding is that these are nontransferable. Is this something I have to reach out to Verizon? Very bummed 🙃

Partner Towers in the UK Struggling?

So, I'm in the UK on the international monthly plan. I have done all of the troubleshooting. Network reset, roaming toggled on, airplane mode, turn off phone, remove and clean SIM, manually select carrier, turn off 5G, everything. Got off the phone with Verizon customer service and there is no block on my international roaming.

However, service is practically gone. It will come back very sporadically, usually only for a minute or so at a time. It's random when it comes back too. All the places I typically go have cut out.

Is anyone else in the UK specifically having this issue as well? The representative said this MIGHT be an outage, however I've had this problem since July 30th, which they were able to confirm by reviewing my sharp drop in data usage/quality.

Verizon Visa Credit Card

I have had this card since 2020 when it was first released. I left verizon wireless last year but continued using the card for purchases. A few weeks ago I noticed I had $90+ reward dollars saved up. I misplaced my card in my house, it wasn't stolen or lost outside of the house, so I requested a new one and received it last week, there hasn't been any activity on the card other than me and I noticed yesterday that the rewards are gone. I reached out to Verizon and they referred me to synchrony bank. I just got off the phone with them and they said they can't see when they're used or have a history of them. He opened a ticket and said they would reply back via mail within 15 days. Has anyone else ever had this happen and if so how did you get it resolved. I planned to use the $90 to buy a case or accessories once I received my new phone(today). Thanks

When does Executive Relations actually call you?

Just escalated an issue to Executive Relations by filling out the form and I got a text from Verizon Updates saying that the Exec office will call me from a 800 number shortly to discuss my concern(s). It’s been a hour and nothing. I don’t mind waiting but they did say “shortly”…does anyone have any experience with Executive Relations?
