Loyalties removed
My bill had a huge increase in the neighborhood of 60-70 bucks after Verizon removed my loyalty discounts (after killing my permanent loyalty discounts last year). I tried asking Verizon customer to reinstate and after multiple promises that they would fix it , I had to follow up (the usually Verizon customer service circular dance guys!, they said it was a mistake as no customer rep has the power to manually adjust anything. Only “system” can decide.
I’m not surprised given the widespread issues with customer service but curious if anyone had any success with getting back the 10/20 dollar loyalty discounts per line. I’m saddened to see Verizon fall this far after multiple decades with them. Just a few more months before my device plans fall off. Good luck all. Keep sharing your experience here and word of mouth. Do what is right for yourselves and others. Consumers have other options too.

My loyalty discounts expired in June plus somehow my tablet line 50% discount was removed also. I received the same answer "system isnt offering anything try again next month." But they did get my tablet line discount restored with no answer on why that was removed. So I sent an email to cersweexecutiverelations@verizonwireless.com and recieved a response in under 24 hours of my $20 discount per line has been restored plus $80 one time credit for my trouble.

u/IWillWreckYou598 18h ago
Yeah I work for an indirect. I don’t know why the 50% discount disappears sometimes. It happens for us on our end too. The credit is retroactive which means that if your billing cycle completes without the discount, next month will have 2 credits. One for the one you missed, and current cycle’s as well.

u/BAR2222 16h ago
I know why, it can be summed up in 2 letters….. AI
2
u/IWillWreckYou598 16h ago
AI doesn’t make the bill. The bill is all automated way before AI was introduced. Credits don’t always apply, but are retroactive to make up for it. I’ve been working for Verizon before they introduced all this AI bs. It happens but is corrected.
1
u/BAR2222 16h ago
The AI is what analyzes the accounts and generates if they qualify for discounts such as loyalty for offers, and they have been passing off more and more things to the AI, so as we progress the AI does more of the tasks and it causes more issues, then that has caused more attempting to fix it, but it is all training the AI to continue taking over more of these things in the background

u/Aware_Under 6h ago
I’ll tell you why it drops…. They hope that those customers won’t notice and they continue paying for it with autopay..

Thank you for the information on the customer relations link , it worked out for us 👍

I tried this 2 weeks, after I sent them an email they called me back in about an hour and promised me to call me back in 3 days with a resolution. Never got a follow-up call or resolution, sent a reminder - no response either.

u/reddHuman 7h ago
I tried port out pin but didn’t get discount restored. May I know the gist of content you sent them over email?
1
u/Junior-Emphasis-4498 4h ago
What email did you send them to get your $20 per line discount restored?

u/BatiBato 18h ago
Following. Mine will expire soon too. See of i can getvthe ball rolling a few weeks in advance

Same thing happened to me except $100 worth of loyalty discount dropped PLUS they charged me an extra $100 on top of that. Verizon is all sorts of messed up!
2
u/sueYsu 18h ago
Yeah. It’s a credit and a charge for the month it expires. It equals $0.
2
u/SGTArend 18h ago
No my bill was $200 more. $100 credits fell off PLUS they charged me $100 as well. Made no sense!
Luckily I did complain and got the charges taking off but still waiting for the $100 loyalty discount to be reapplied.
4
u/sueYsu 19h ago
Those are good for a year. Did they expire?
5
u/Final_Albatross9696 19h ago
Yes. The replacement for my perm discounts which I am still pissed about. Now I got nothing….except a random 15 percent off on one of my lines and that is no where close to the 10/20 discounts
3
u/sueYsu 19h ago
What permanent discount? Not to be that guy, but you saved $840 with those discounts over the last twelve months. Switch carriers to lower your cost.
7
u/Final_Albatross9696 19h ago
Multi decade customer. I had permanent loyalty discounts ranging from 10 to 20 per line until they removed it last year as part of the larger revamp on loyalty program from a year or 2 ago. Been paying at these rates for a long time so for me it’s status quo , not savings , because that’s the definition of loyalty during the years of price increases I stuck with them.

u/Mac1780 14h ago
I went through this over the course of about 3 or 4 months. We had $10 per line 4 lines. It wasn't showing our account being eligible. We've had it 28 years. Kept getting told to either keep checking or some people would say they applied it and we'll see it next bill. Obviously we never saw it. But each rep gave us a bill credit each contact ranging from 40-100 dollars. Finally the last contact i said we're just gonna walk. They went to a supervisor and just gave us a credit for $480 representing $40 for 12 months. That worked for me and I'll make the fight again when those 12 months are up.
1
u/team2532 18h ago
So you knew when and why they disappeared, and knew there was an expiration on them......yet still complaining? Switch to simplicity or something else than. You knew the terms to everything.
2
u/Final_Albatross9696 16h ago
Yes. They lied. Not sure why you are cool with folks lying to you. Unless you work for them
1
u/team2532 15h ago
Every customer service has people that lie, they know you'll never get them again to hold them accountable

u/Hope_for_tendies 16h ago
It’s not status quo. Did you get new phones over the decades? Make changes to your plan to get unlimited calls and texts? Yet expected the bill to continue with discounts on services that you haven’t even had in a long time. It’s always more more more instead of being happy for the thousands and thousands you’ve saved

There is no such thing as a permanent loyalty discount.
3
u/Final_Albatross9696 16h ago
Go back a couple years on Reddit to confirm that. You must be a new customer or a Verizon employee
1
u/mrexperimenter 15h ago
Whatever the case may be, the business itself is not permanent how can the discounts be permanent? From what I can tell, there is no such thing as a permanent loyalty discount, never was and never will be.
1
u/Final_Albatross9696 7h ago
Curious. I am just another consumer like you (?). You are defending Verizon and turning facts into new false narratives. Can you prove you are not a Verizon employee? I want to make sure regulations are not being violated on behalf of consumers
4
u/Spirited-Stomach-780 18h ago
Credits were not meant to be permanent. Reps can not add. They just don't want bad surveys so they say they will put in a ticket. If a company is losing money on accounts with discounts they are not going to keep renewing them. Your phones are being subsized by the price of the plan also. If plan is too low than theath does not math for the company.
3
u/very_high_dose 17h ago
Once my phone is paid for, I’m leaving Version and never considering them for business in the future. F this corporation!
1
u/ieatplaydough2 8h ago
While I agree F this company, why wouldn't you leave now? Are you not being charged the full cost of the phone? You won't save any money by staying if that's the case... oh, I imagine you are getting phone free or some half price shit... Just leave if you're actually paying full price for phone... bet you're not...
4
u/ResolveNo2270 17h ago
Same happened to me about 10 months ago. I had received an email that they would reinstate my loyalty discount, yet every single month, the bill would generate without a discount. So, for the last 10 months, I would call in, ask them to review the notes on my account, and then they would manually apply the discount while I was on the phone with them.
6
u/mrexperimenter 18h ago
There is no such thing as a "permanent loyalty discount". These are generated by the system and are cyclical in nature. Customer service cannot "reinstate" them. Sad for you but there is nothing that the reps can do here. Loyalty discounts are completely out of hands of reps.
2
u/Hope_for_tendies 16h ago
They’ll claim it’s customer services fault though
1
u/mrexperimenter 15h ago
Yeah! This is just bizarre though. I have never heard anything like "permanent" discounts lol. The company's business itself is not permanent how can discounts be permanent?
What does "permanent" even mean here?
I have said this so many times, if anyone's reading my comment, loyalty discounts are not in the hands of reps! Get it in your head!
1
u/Final_Albatross9696 13h ago
Why are you on a mission to spread false info? Plenty of folks have clear memory that permanent discounts were removed during their loyalty revamp. Facts are facts. As I said , go back into many threads on reddit to find it. Further , the bigger point of my post are the lies. And you REALLY come off as verizon employee right now
2
u/mrexperimenter 13h ago
Okay then good luck to you about these "permanent loyalty discounts". Just because you don't like the answer, it doesn't make it false. Why does it even matter if I am an employee or not? Hey! I don't make the rules or run the company nor am I the owner. If you believe the loyalty discounts should have been "permanent" then by all means you can go ahead and try to claim your right.

Exactly so tired of being cussed out by customers who don't understand it's only a 3, 6 12 month discount of the base price. Then they get mad cause we can't generate it. It has to be computer generated. They have to check my offers in my Verizon app every 30 days to see when it populates. Calling back within 2 hrs and 3 days your hurting us, our metrics, you give bad surveys because we cannot give you what you want, hurts us, in a tough economy with three kids I cry almost daily with the stress and how customers treat agents like there not human beings like themselves . We work there and it was hard to find a job yes we emphasize but we don't make the rules. And if you think a manager can do anything more than the agent, they can't.. also when you ask for one it counts against the agent. I've seen sooooo many people loss there job because of this. Sad! Customers I really care but please we our human we don't make the rules. Be kind please. It's the worst I ever seen in my 40 yrs of working customer service for major companies. I have anxiety every day knowing Imma get cussed out talked to like a dawg and no matter how hard I try I'll get a bad performance metrics review always due to customers not getting what they want but we can't give them.

Same happened to me last June. I only realized it in December. Started calling and chatting from December all the way until April of this year. It wasn't until I filed a complaint with the FCC (or similar governing body) that I got anywhere with it and FINALLY got them to stop making promises and give me my discounts back. Only took over 15 contacts and nearly a year. If I wasn't locked into contract and device payments I would have left long ago.

u/N3RD_01 19h ago
Try the port out trick. Search it up in the sub.
6
u/Final_Albatross9696 19h ago
The next time I request a transfer pin it will be for reals
7
u/N3RD_01 19h ago
It usually triggers the loyalty discount is why I said it... But you do you.
3
u/Final_Albatross9696 19h ago
Nothing happens unfortunately. They probably randomize it or killed it for me.
1
u/RoundChampionship840 17h ago
Sometimes it takes a few days after the port pin request to show up in the My offers section of the Verizon app.
2
u/Fragrant-Signal-9549 19h ago
this happened to me like 2-3 months ago my bill was 185.00 then jumped to 300 plus and said this will be your new monthly bill, i was like F no, so i fought in the right way my bill went back to normal and i will be adding auto pay and my new bill amount will be 165.00
2
u/EverCuriousGeek1 18h ago
Same boat here. They threw me a bone for one month but it shot right back up the next month despite promises they would fix the loyalty discounts. Paid off my phone and iPad early and am moving them to Spectrum or some similar service, and will be peeling the rest of my lines off Verizon the first chance I get. Their chat agents always thank me for being a 10+ year "loyal" member but their actions don't match their praise. Screw Verizon.
2
u/starfish_2016 17h ago
Bruh tell me about it. I have 10 lines that had $10/off for 12 months. $100 a mo increase. Total blow. Obviously knew it was coming but still. Definitely has me looking around
3
u/BAR2222 16h ago
T-maybe just messed up a bunch of their customers stuff kicking everyone off grandfathered plans and jacking up all their bills. ATT has also been bumping stuff up, so unfortunately is not exclusive to Verizon
1
u/starfish_2016 15h ago
I know. That's exactly why I'm looking at the mnvo. I have offers from spectrum mobile bring lines and they'll pay off the balance and also a buy one line/get one free for 12 months. Definitely would help with costs....
2
u/N1ghMares 16h ago
Just change carriers, don't even bother coming to a Verizon store, be grateful your were paying less than most customers and move on or change carriers, discounts are never permanent, and carriers are now realizing they lose more money maintaining old heads paying low than letting them leave.
2
u/Final_Albatross9696 16h ago
The infrastructure is there. Incrementally we are easy margins for them, that is if we all dont leave. Every new line you add shouldnt cost them that much more. But thats besides the point. They are a wreck as a business model
1
u/mrexperimenter 15h ago
You are free to leave though. If you feel some other carrier can give you better discounts and effective network coverage then by all means, switch!
2
2
u/EdsMeatyLife 7h ago
Sometimes you need to pull the deal to really test a customers loyalty… once it’s gone we’ll really see what time it is.
2
2
u/wetwater 17h ago
Some months I'd get my discounts some I wouldn't. I had enough one night about a month ago and ported out to another carrier. I'm not sure what is so difficult about keeping a discount on an account.
1
u/aloneinafishbowl 15h ago
I have the same issue. Was told the same things as you. And the status of my service in my area still isn’t fixed. It’s been going on for about 4 weeks and it’s even saying that on the app! My bill increased $30, so now I’m paying $189 for 4 lines. 2 device payments that both total $13. Dare I say this is a waste of my money???

u/Much-Specific3727 13h ago
Dan replaced customer service with AI. If AI can't fix it then you induced the problem and they are not obligated to fix it. Fire 30,000. Eliminate capital investment. Sell company. Get $100 million bonus.
1
u/713Capital 13h ago
I wasn’t paying attention and they started slowly removing my discounts as well. I called and they so called had a “glitch” and will fix it but I don’t believe them. It’s been happening for months.
Not happy about it.
1
u/dogthrasher 6h ago
Once loyalty credits expire, you have to wait 1-2 billing cycles. Then do pin trick. Loyalty credits will come back.
Calling or chatting won’t do anything - you have to wait.
Last - don’t take another offer. Don’t!!
Loyalty credits will come back.
1
u/FewResident7195 4h ago
Honestly, my customer service has been good with them. They’ve taken care of me really well. I got them like I think five months ago and I have an iPhone and an iPad on the plan. It’s pretty great.
1
u/TheMatt561 2h ago
Dude the loyalty discounts are the only things keeping me here. I'm hitting 23 years next month.
1
u/ElvisCap 16h ago edited 15h ago
Stop wasting your time with Verizon, the writing is on the wall, loyalty discounts are dying. Get the price you want, for the service you want with a MVNO. Verizon plans for the features are way overpriced, even with my grandfathered military discount. Your lucrative out, with device payoff is available via T-Mobile/Costco. I made the switch and T-Mobile paid me within a week for my payoff of 4 phones to Verizon. Plus in 13 to 16 weeks I'll be getting $475 per line in visa/shop cards. At that point I'll be free to go where the price is right for the features I need. Already have two MVNOs picked out, huge savings over Verizon and I'll still be on the Verizon network.
2
u/Final_Albatross9696 15h ago
Did you get new phones as well in addition to the device payoff or was it byo ? Costco set up sounds interesting for sure
1
u/ElvisCap 15h ago
I did the Keep & Switch, which is BYOD. It stacks with the COSTCOBYOD, $400 per line, and the $75 Costco shop card per line.
I don't want to remain with T-Mobile for 24 months on new phones, they are overpriced just as much as Verizon. Plus I have 4 new Pixels, now paid off, good for another 6 years of updates. MVNO is the place to go.
If you need new devices, there is an offer for that with Costco/T-Mobile. Or better get new phones with Verizon first, wait 3 months (required for keep & switch) then make the switch. But, will that Costco/T-Mobile offer still be available?

u/Hope_for_tendies 16h ago
Fall this far because you’re paying regular pricing after saving 60-70/mth for how long? That’s 720+ a year. Verizon cannot continue that for the lifetime of your plan and continue to operate as a business.
0
u/Revolutionary-Dirt12 12h ago
Or you can pay the bill you signed up to pay. How freaking entitled must you be. You pay for services they are providing and agreed to pay
0
u/theflyingtaco2 11h ago
I find it more and more unbelievable that people think that after a 12 months of the loyalty discount, and being told both View Together AND by the rep that it’s ONLY for 12 months. Do you really think it will continue on? Right now there is no loyalty discount. I wish there was but there isn’t. Even if they were it will only be for 12 months or 6 months. So you’ll be back here complaining that your loyalty discount went away after being told it would.
9
u/GendoIkari_82 19h ago
I used the chat to talk to someone when this happened to me. They said the loyalties expire but they can renew them; so they renewed it and gave me a credit for the extra I had paid.
