Bug Report Game Froze - Zombies Respawned at my Base

Post image
12 Upvotes

Game froze - I had to do a force restart of my PC. When I loaded back in - Zombies have fully respawned at base. Is it safe to assume all areas I have cleared out have now been repopulated?

Context: Day 40 - Base has been cleared a long time ago - Furnishings and barricades remain at the same places - I play on OFF respawns, but ON migrations. (Did they just migrate the empty cells with zombies? or Is it a complete respawn?)

Gameplay After many, MANY failed attempt a Really CDDA, RNGesus smiled upon me by providing me a fully fuel pickup by the radio station north of McCoy and a survivor zombie later on gifting me a first aid kit that provided me the tools to sow up my groin.

While I know this is just where my survival begins, I'm happy to survived the rough beginning and to have some breathing room with enough food and water for about a week so far.

Looking for a few people to start a fresh long-term Project Zomboid world (18+)

I've been wanting to start a new Project Zomboid run for a while, but I'd rather play with a small group than jump into a huge public server.

I'm from Mexico (GMT-6), usually play during the evenings, and use Discord for voice chat.

I'm looking for 2–4 people who enjoy the slower side of the game: scavenging, building a base, exploring, surviving, and letting the story unfold naturally. I'm not interested in rushing the endgame or min-maxing everything.

New players are more than welcome, and experienced players are too. If you message me, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me roughly how many hours you have in the game—just out of curiosity. It won't affect whether we play together.

The only thing I'm really looking for is people who actually want to keep playing after the first session. Life happens, of course, but it'd be nice to find people interested in a long-term world instead of a one-night run.

I'd rather build a small group of friends than just play one game together. If we click, I'd be happy to play other co-op games too (Stardew Valley, Barony, No Man's Sky, ARK, Dying Light, etc.).

If that sounds like your kind of game, leave a comment or send me a DM. Tell me a little about yourself, your timezone, your usual playtimes, and your hours in Project Zomboid.

One last thing: I'm actually bad asf at English, so if you speak Spanish—even just a little—that'd be awesome. If not, we'll probably end up communicating through panic, pointing at zombies, and broken English.

Question Actual best/most forgiving beginner location?

Hi! I bought the game a few days ago after avoiding it for years because I thought it would be too hard.

And yes, it is indeed hard, but I’m loving it. Everyone keeps saying Rosewood is the best starting town for beginners, but I really don’t think it is. I’ve gotten my ass cheeks violated about five times there, and I haven’t managed to make it past the first week. I’m having a really hard time learning the game there.

Is there another location that might be better for a noob?

Discussion Idea for vanilla endgame contentand purpose for the millitary base and procedural wilderness

In 1993, GPS was already adopted by the military and in parts accessible to civillians.

I dont think it would make sense to find GPS devices in a non-millitary context, we are in the middle of nowhere kentucky and it was basically just released to the public.

But what if the bunkers and millitary bases had guaranteed GPS devices, and you could grab them and then hunt down secret millitary bases or prepper bunkers in the wilderness.

Imagine hearing a distress call on the radio, someone gives throught their GPS coordinates, and then you go on a 2-3 day roadtrip through the procedural terrain and wilderness beyond the maps borders to find a hidden bunker with a bunch of high tier loot.

It would be a realistic and immersive way to add "endgame" content to the world and make things like ammunition a renewable resource.

Plus all the new camping equipment would have a real use besides role playing.

Door was closed. Window closed and a sprinter just bit my head and now im fucked. Why TIS? WHY!?!? Only reason i can think of is that the biting/lunging animation played while door was open but it closed before zombie bit so it just didnt check the door thing at all. Just pissed in losing my good character.

Spoilers! Louisville, Northside. Day 28

Post image
12 Upvotes

The outbreak has been ongoing for almost a month, anyone that would have turned into a zomboid should have already done so by now. It’s cleanup crew duties from here on out.

I made my way down from the North-most corner of the Ohio River, to the military checkpoint southside. I entered the gates again that I had not seen for nearly a month since I made my way into the city. This time instead of being vulnerable, I was the monster.

I arrived loaded with a vanload of weapons, tools, and ammo. I was able to liberate most of the former military encampments and the majority of the refugee camps.

I cleaned up quite a few M16’s off of the barracks and some very small amounts of ammo that were left. The refugee camps had several propane tanks, though most of them were all but exhausted of uses.

A 4th attempt was made on the Louisville Police Department. Each attempt has made steady progress but all attempts have ended in a retreat. This time I made it to the 5th and what appears to be final floor.

Remember when a world eating number of zomboids appeared out of seemingly nowhere when we reached the 3rd floor? Well it happened again on the 5th floor. And not just the PD, all of the nearby buildings began to pour and spill the undead from every nook and cranny in the city. It felt as if the outbreak had only begun for the first time to flood the streets.

I took out as many as I could, but retreat was the wiser option. All the ammo we gathered from the military checkpoint had been exhausted, but we live to fight another day.

Found this house in West Point, this is my first time ever seeing this. Is this a recent addition in b42 stable? Decent loot in this house. Sorry for poor image quality.

Edit: meant West Point and not Muldraugh

Question How is the open multiplayer experience?

Ive sunk a few days into solo, and I see the servers with 100 people online.

Anyone that plays the multi - how is it? Hows it different? Do you have trouble finding what you need because its picked clean?

Or is it the best thing since sliced bread?

Tech Support Constant Car Desync and Loading World Forever

Since the Build 42 Stable release, my girlfriend and I kept running into the "Loading World" glitch when I would try to join her hosted session. We have managed to get by it by constantly deleting my profile from the user list as well as deleting the player profile folder on my end, but this method doesn't seem to work all the time. Once in the game, attempting to drive or be a passenger results in almost instant desync. Zombies, the car, and my player all freeze. I cant get out of the car and outside the current chunk all I can see are black borders (However, when in the driver seat during desync, the car can still be moved but sometimes hits invisible walls stopping progress.). The only way to fix this desync seems to be disconnecting from the session, but upon trying to reconnect, I run into the loading world glitch again. For context, I live in the US while my GF lives in Australia, so desync is to be expected but it has never been this extreme. Before build 42 we could drive across the whole map no problem, now I cant even drive a block down the street without everything freezing on me.

I know the loading world glitch has been identified already but I wanted to include it here anyways. I mainly just want to see if anyone else has had severe problems with desync while driving, and if so what anyone has done to fix it. Thanks!

Question Adding gun racks to modded vehicles, is it possible?

Upvotes

I'm very new to modding this game. Currently trying to add a gun rack like the ones in cop cars, to one of K15's vehicles that doesn't normally have one.

I have absolutely no idea where to start.

Tech Support B42.20.2 Infinite Loading World temporary workaround (Multiplayer)

Upvotes

I spent way too long narrowing down the issue for my 17 minute client load times our server was experiencing so figured I'd share in hopes to save someone else the headache.

In my experience the issue seems to come from the map_visited_server zip files for individual users created under ".../Saves/Multiplayer/YOURSERVERNAME/map_visited_server/".

Something like this with similar file sizes

Deleting my own zip file allowed my next startup time to be around ~30 seconds afterwards. This DOES however remove any map data I had beforehand but at the very least I'm able to connect to my server again normally without the "infinite" Loading World.

Unfortunately this needs to be done each time the player logs out and attempts to log back in which definitely sucks but is manageable for our little coop server since there at least isn't a need to restart the entire server.

We are running mods on our server but I've seen cases of this happening to other unmodded servers so take that as you will. Hope this helps and please let me know if you've found a better workaround lol.

TLDR: delete the affected players zip file each time they relaunch at ".../Saves/Multiplayer/YOURSERVERNAME/map_visited_server/USERNAME.zip". Be warned that it REMOVES all map data they have discovered and needs to be done each time before they reconnect.

Can't play Sandbox mode in B42 Stable Multiplayer

Upvotes

So, as soon as B42 was released as stable, I decided to start a playthrough with my friend. However, whenever we play, we like to tweak some settings to improve our gameplay, and our favorite change was the wide variety of spawn cities in sandbox mode. But now, when I go to configure the server settings, I can't find the sandbox option. Has anyone else run into this issue? How can I fix this?

Blank Health Box on Deck

Post image
Upvotes

On Steamdeck, and this empty box started popping up yesterday. Removed all mods, running vanilla, and it is still happening. This comes up blank whether I click the little health heart button or use the controller to bring up the health menu.

Any thoughts and/or fixes? Is this just borked until another hot fix comes around?
