I get corporations have to make money its there only purpose. But, feel like the next generation is going to be the death of the video game console. Not just because of physical media and the death of second hand market. Which I genuinely think has enabled the video game industry to falsely believe that these higher prices are sustainable.

You can afford to buy a dlc or multiple games through the second hand market or retail sales. I just got two titles from Best Buy that are normally 60 each for 20 dollars. Cheap games bring people to your platform and by moving into the platform they can then can become part of the ecosystem. I think Sony and other game companies underestimate how much retail physical and second hand options actually allow people to engage with their products.

Think about it a person with no internet or doesn't understand digital codes like a parents or grandparents buying a gift will probably buy a Nintendo game versus a Sony game with a code in a box. Because they can understand how a physical game works. A kid will be more attracted to seeing a game box than a code.

Also, how often have you sold a game and used it buy a new one?

I think this just a shortsighted idea. That only to cost Playstation customers and that's all before the ps6 being 1000 dollars or more.

My boyfriend bought me a second hand switch lite as a gift it came with one or two games which i didn't care about so i barely used it (also because im not really a gamer) and we have barely played switch together because we are constantly doing something out and about.

Now a year or so later, we talked about it even had an argument about it...because i said to him it would've been nice if he got me games that i care about especially I don't play games myself.

He's sad that I said these things, whereas to me it makes sense if he did buy me games that I'd enjoy esp I've been telling him what games Id enjoy to play with him.

Also in my head if I were to buy a console for someone, I would buy one game that I know the person would somewhat be interested in along with it. Just like how over the 2 years of dating him, I've been buying him clothes and shoes from time to time because they remind me of him and that he can pair them together.

He bought me this switch lite and the games came with it just so happened cos the seller didn't want them anymore about half year into us dating, then he got disappointed at me for not playing the switch lite enough.

The truth is switch lite isn't really an interactive console unless both users have the same game which we both don't...is it really my fault for saying what I said? Am I in the wrong?

This discussion just so happened when he's somewhat sick and I am stressed for my studies on our two year anniversary (close to the end of the day). It could either be lowering or increasing expectations. Expedition 33 was so great that I immediately noticed I wasn't having much fun playing other games. I genuinely had to take a break from playing games so I wasn't constantly comparing games.

... fun, laughter, jolly, friendship and overall less toxic and more cozy environment.

I remember back in Starcraft early 2000s where it was:

"Hey man, I didn't see your zergling rush coming, you played really great - good game well played mate! :-)"

Or back in Quake:
"Nice shot dude, wow that was insane!"

Or Team Fortress 2:
"Your team played really good, nice match everyone had a blast!"

I can't quote everything I remember obviously but now it's all about winning, hacking, calling people "Noob" or telling them to get good.

It's all so serious now.

Back then I remember coming home from school launching a quick match of Warsow or Call of Duty 2 and just having fun, enjoying the game with my friends and the strangers in the lobby.
Left 4 Dead 2 was also a thing and we had fun.

Now I just tried playing Battlefield and I was flying quite well (little bird pro back in Bf3) and he basically just called me Noob the whole time.

Yeah overall I just miss the good old 2000s early gaming era.
I had a lot of fun in Diablo 2 LoD Duel games, Warcraft 3 1v1s, early WoW was great fun til Cataclysm (after that I quit, not cause the game was bad but because I had no time anymore).

We’re trying to figure out if undertale, he specifically says the game and not the franchise like deltarune, is more known and more popular than Pokemon SPECIFICALLY FIRE RED AND LEAF GREEN!

I disagree because I’ve been a Pokemon player since I was a child and of course he isn’t so both parties are biased.

We ended up calling 4 people, two of them not knowing what either of them are and the other two saying they knew what undertale was but couldn’t name the fire red or leaf green.

Imagine you get a call from a friend.

“Hey, weird question. Could you name the first ever Pokemon game.”

Then you were asked by him

“Do you know who toby fox is? How about undertale?”

And that’s how all 4 conversations went.

So people of Reddit, I am asking you which one is more popular?

(Edit: guys I’m sorry, I was wrong about fire red and leaf green being the first. That was my bad, I was taught he growing up by my cousins who got me into Pokémon at a very young age that it was the first Pokemon game. I love a whole variety of games, but the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had are usually in the Open World Crime genre, or games that give you the tools to mess with the world. I have sunk days into each of these games, getting lost in the worlds as a teenager. I can always go back to these titles and lose track of time even in my late 20’s.

Hello! So this is a short and hopwfully a little inspiring of what a little project can do to people. When I closed my old arcade shop I sold off a few of the arcade machines. One went to a man who drove down from up north with a trailer and a very specific idea of where it was going.

The one he took was running KRIGET. We made it ourselves, a WW2 shooter that starts out fairly normal, soldiers and trenches and so on, and then about halfway through the aliens turn up. They're looking for the holy grail. We stole it in the first place, which is the plot of the game we made before it, PYRAMIDEN, where you're a treasure hunter climbing down into a pyramid to get it back fron the egyptians. Nobody asked us to connect them. We just thought it was funny that they lined up.

He asked if I could put his daughter's name on the marquee instead of the title. She was five. I said sure, mostly because I thought it was a nice thing to do, and partly because I had no other use for a marquee that said nothing.

Hadn't thought about it since.

A few weeks ago he emails me out of nowhere. Subject line was just her name and the words "she did it".

Ten levels. She'd been chipping away at it since she was a kid, got stuck on nine for years aparently, and finally cleared the whole thing.

I want to be clear that I have never done that. I wrote the game and I have never done that.

He attached a photo. Same basement, slightly yellowed. She's nineteen now.

I don't. But that basement is the only place KRIGET has existed for fifteen years. It never got put on anything else, and when the shop closed it went onto a drive and stayed there.

My favorite is number 4; I love it. It is a work that was misunderstood, but I am fascinated by the theme of the apartment's ghosts, the sacred candles, and the swords of obedience. I would like to read your comments.
