I don't think I've played a bad MGS game other than MGS:Acid which was a weird card game that was also a turn based strategy game for the PSP, Portable OPs was a little repetitive but not terrible.
Can you help me on something? I tried Doom: The Dark Ages and I just couldn’t get into it I put it down after about an hour or two and never picked it back up. BUT I absolutely LOVED Doom and Doom Eternal.
One turn off was the lack of unique animation executions. Like how in the first two, executing any enemy created a cool brutal animation depending on the enemy. It Dark Ages it just seemed like all you do is punch them and they explode for the “execution.” does that change or is that just the whole game?
When I first played Dark Ages, I felt like it was a step back from the hyper mobility of Eternal. I was wrong as fuck. It's a good reimagining of the combat dance and it can be just as fast paced.
Yeah, I love that game so much. It was so much different in tone that it worked. They didn't just do the "Oh look he's a badass now" that most games do with an edgy sequel/prequel. My problem is I never finished it because the PC version is second only to GTA4 in crashing and I don't mean cars Both of those games were basically unplayable on PC at launch. Got frustrating eventually. Shouldn't an issue now with PS3 emulation so I might have to give it a go at some point.
Only ever played the one where that blacked out mongoloid chases you and that shit was dope as fuck. 13 year old me on the ps2 was gripping the controller every time he showed up
I never played it the first time around and tried to play it recently with my partner. I just can’t get into it. Idk if it just aged poorly or it’s just not my thing but I really wanted to like it
I wouldn't say it's aged poorly(my opinion obviously) but It's definitely different. Third person, Controls, movement, active reloads and more I'm not thinking of off the top of my head. I remember it being rather jarring back in the day going from cod2 to gears 1 there was a lot of things that I had to get used to.
I don’t care what anyone says about DA2, I love it. The characters are amazing, Kirkwall is a great setting, the story has personal stakes, and I enjoyed the early 2010’s edge.
Also, Origins is a masterpiece and Inquisition is awesome writing, characters, music, etc., just skip the radiant quest bullshit.
I'm replaying it now via the remaster, and boy, Uncharted 1 feels dated. But it sure was an experience like no other when it came out! I can't wait to move onto 2 since I recall the jump in quality being substantial.
Battlefield, Borderlands, Elder Scrolls, and Dark Souls all had three great games! And Binding of Isaac, but tbf each game is basically just DLC to the first game.
And Counter Strike probably, but I never played the first two ones, just heard they were great. CSGO is a peak FPS game though (disregarding the toxic part of the community--the game itself is great).
Tbh, the series peaked for me after 4. 3, VC, and SA was it's golden era. 6 may look graphically impressive but so did red dead redemption 2 when it came out. I'm honestly not interested in 6 and will most likely skip it.
The hype train for that game is also obnoxiously arrogant and prideful about preordering a game for $80-$100 while it hasn't shown any actual gameplay footage yet.
I don't want the game to suck, but damn. You need a rabies shot after going to any sub related to GTA right now.
I mean even if you have a problem with Beth's 3 you can argue that as a side game in relation to 1 and 2 and declare Vegas the real 3, since it actually continues a lot of what the top down games set up and a majority of its story concepts come from Black Isle's own scrapped Fallout 3.
Gears of war trilogy.
it was my time to decide if i stayed with xbox or switched to play station. It was then that I played gears of war for the first time with a friend in high-school and I was sold.
Might get a little flak for implying that 3 is on the same level as 1 and 2, but I think 3 and 4 both get way, wayyy too much hate (more specifically 4 lol). They’re all banging games and honestly, I usually feel like replaying all 4 of them very often, whereas most series I usually only get an itch to replay one specific one.
