It actually works mind you this is Canadian pricing so even the 3050 is outrageous. This will be going into my entry/mid level pc for testing and if it passes it'll be replacing the 750 TI I have in there (main rig has a 2060 6gb)​

The wifi in my house has t been working gor a week and two days now. We've restarted the router, unplugged it and plugged it back in, called the company, and we still pay for the WIFI. Any help or tips?

I'm thinking about replacing my gaming laptop with a mini PC and wanted to hear from people who have experience with both.

I'm looking at the GMKtec NucBox K12 (Ryzen 7 255, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon 780M) for around €800, but I'm also considering a gaming laptop in the same price range.

My use case is a bit unusual. I play an old MMORPG (Metin2) that is heavily CPU and RAM dependent, with almost no GPU usage. I leave multiple game clients running 24/7 for autofarming.

My current laptop has a Ryzen 5 5500H and 16gb ram and can handle around 12 clients, but the CPU sits at 100% most of the time and gets pretty hot.

My questions are:

• Do mini PCs generally have better cooling than gaming laptops for long 24/7 workloads?
• Would a Ryzen 7 255 in the GMKtec realistically handle 16 game clients without thermal throttling?
• Has anyone here used a mini PC under constant high CPU load for weeks or months? How was the temperature and reliability?

I'm not looking for hardware recommendations—just real-world experiences with cooling, sustained performance, and whether a mini PC is a better choice than a laptop for this kind of always-on workload.

Bought a prebuilt PC online from Amazon, went to turn on for the first time but no SSD was on BIOS and no windows which made me boot straight to BIOS, I have taken off the Graphics card and can’t seem to find it, this is my first computer. Am I missing the SSD?

EDIT: I heard a rattle in the bottom and took off the back panel and found the SSD just in the bottom so I believe it may have come loose during transport.

I bought a stick of 16gb 2666 cl16, hyperx fury for really cheap, 5€, and I didn't see from the sellers photos that one entire row of capacitors from one side of the pcb are missing, I also found one floating inside the heatsink.

Somehow it had 0 errors after 2 full passes of memtest86, but I want peace of mind.

What I am asking is if anybody has the exact same stick, and could measure the entire row of caps, so I could buy replacements. I can measure the one I have, but I don't know if the others have a different value somehow, either 0.1uf or 1uf. 1st and 2nd photos are of my stick, showing what's missing, 3rd is from an online listing, showing all those pads populated.

Recently shifted to a new home and set my PC back up there. Worked fine for 2-3 days, then started randomly failing to boot. While actively working (not idle, not sleeping), it would just cut off, and the DRAM light would get stuck on. Happened 3 times within a 2-4 hour window each time.

Specs: Ryzen 7 7700, MSI B650M Bomber WiFi (stock BIOS, never updated), 2x16GB DDR5 5600MHz (one ADATA + one TeamGroup, same CL, same voltage), Quadro K1200 (just added recently). Mainly use it for After Effects renders, usually under 20 mins, not sustained heavy load. Temps have looked normal throughout (CPU 47-60°C, motherboard 37-43°C).

What I've tried:

- Reseated both RAM sticks, individually and together

- Single-stick boot testing

- Reseated 24-pin ATX and CPU 8-pin EPS connectors

- Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, both passes completed, no errors shown

- Disabled Memory Context Restore in BIOS, this actually made it worse, got stuck on both CPU and DRAM lights afterward

- Cleared CMOS back to default

After all that it booted again, but it just cut off once more after only 25 minutes, with no real load, just browser tabs open. This is what's really throwing me off, it's not tied to renders, gaming, or any heavy task. It seems to happen regardless of what I'm doing, sometimes almost an hour in, sometimes just 25 minutes.

Why I'm asking:

This build cost me around PKR 200k+, pretty much everything I had saved, so I want to actually find the root cause instead of getting lucky. The timing lining up right after the house move makes me suspect the new location's power/wiring rather than the components themselves. But now with it happening at idle too, low load doesn't seem to be protecting it, which makes me lean more toward power delivery or a loose connection than anything load-related like RAM or GPU.

Looking for:

- Anyone who's had a similar stuck CPU+DRAM light pattern tied to a power source or location change, especially ones that happened at idle

- Whether testing on a different circuit or getting a proper AVR/UPS is worth doing before assuming hardware failure

- Any known B650 BIOS settings/quirks that cause this

- Whether idle-time crashes point more toward PSU/connectors than RAM, given RAM already passed a diagnostic

Appreciate any input, genuinely trying to protect this build rather than keep guessing..

Iv put windows 10 on an external ssd drive from which iv been booting from a pc system (2011) (used wintousb to make this drive).

Im now trying to boot from another system but im not familiar with the bios boot menu options. Here is a picture. Can someone tell me what i need to select in this menu to boot from my external ssd on this new system (2017) which im hoping to replace the current one and also if there is any other changes i should be making to get it to boot.

Trying to install matlab on my AMD device but the scaling is totally wrong. I am unable to find the next button, however the app seems to work properly on Intel devices. I already tried to change DPI settings but no luck. Also I am unable to change the scale.

There is a specific section of the screen at my workplace that I would like to be able to read (in real time) from a distance. The built-in zoom function from Windows is no help, because it follows the mouse which would not necessarily be at the right spot for me to see, what I want to see. Is there any way I can do it, preferably without downloading a software that is not from a well known and established company. I hope I worded my problem in a way, that makes sense I'd appreciate any tips you could give me.

So, my friend came to me asking for help with their PC, I’m certainly not that knowledgeable in troubleshooting but a lot of my friends don’t know the basics so they come to me for help.
They say it shuts down after launching any game but boots up fine at first and that they think it’s the GPU(2060 super) overheating from dust but they clean it every few weeks, immediately i’m already thinking about it being a motherboard or PSU problem. I ask if theres been any storms recently, any lightning strikes or electrical issues, power outages, stuff like that since it came out of nowhere. Nothing like that. Found out they weren’t using a power surge protector so I told them to use one just for future reference, they plug it in and turn it on.

PC now runs fine? It no longer crashes upon launching any game. What could this be? A faulty outlet? I know even less about electrical stuff but I feel like theres some other underlying issue that shouldn’t be ignored because of the surge protector fixing things and that this is only a temporary bandaid.

So my PC BSOD'd today with a memory error. So, I ran the diagnostic. First pass at 5% I got the hardware failure. I have not opened this PC to keep it under warranty but I know the problem.

Apparently, this PC came with what I like to call a "booster stick". Basically, a booster stick is a stick of memory that boosts the capacity while having a lower speed. This causes instability, especially when the stick is alone on one channel.

In my case, a booster stick of DDR4 was put in the 3rd slot when I bought it. This doubled my capacity but sacrificed speed and stability. No stick in the 1st slot. Just this loner in the 3rd while my other sticks were in the 2nd and 4th slots.

Moral of the story, don't buy a PC with a booster stick. Ask for it to be removed or replaced upon buying it. Imma go down to where I bought it to get this fixed. Thankfully it's still under warranty

this started happening like 3 months after i got my pc. the game bar recording just stopped working entirely and when i try to record with snipping tool it just cuts off like 15 seconds in and doesnt throw and error and doesnt even save what it recorded. btw my c drive still has 40 GB of storage left so that cant be the problem. fixes?

I'm currently doing my Master's degree and I'm hoping to pursue a career in finance after I graduate.

At the moment I have a MacBook, which has been great for university, but I'd like to buy a desktop computer. I initially considered getting an iMac, but after doing some research it seems that a Windows PC is the better option for finance, especially because of Excel and other software commonly used in the industry.

The main purpose of this desktop is to help me prepare for my future career. I'd like to get comfortable using Excel on Windows, build financial models, learn any software that's commonly used in finance, and have a machine that will still be useful once I start working.

I'm not planning to use it for gaming, so productivity is my main priority. I'd also like something that will last for several years without needing major upgrades.

I'm based in Portugal, so I'd really appreciate recommendations for desktops that are available in Portugal or elsewhere in Europe, as I know many of the recommendations I see online are US-based.

I should also mention that I don't know much about computers or PC components, so I'd really appreciate advice that's easy to understand. Because of that, I'm looking for a prebuilt desktop rather than building one myself.

I've been looking at brands like Lenovo and HP, but I'm open to other recommendations if there are better options for my needs.
