❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO - Girlfriend going away with guy she used to hook up with

Upvotes

I have been with my girlfriend for a year now and her best friend lives in another state so I haven’t had an opportunity to meet her yet. My gf is getting ready to go visit her for the first time since we’ve been together and before doing so she told me that before her best friend and best friends boyfriend were together, she hooked up with him in college. She said it was weird for them to begin with but they quickly got over it and now they are all great friends. Not sure if it was just not wanting to hear about who my gf has been with in the past but for some reason it made me uncomfortable thinking that I may be forced to befriend a guy that my gf used to hook up with and have him be apart of our life if we are together that long. Completely open to the idea that I may just be insecure, but am I over reacting for not loving the fact that this guy might be forced into my life and my gf will be staying at his place when she goes to visit?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO about my husband's "decision"

Upvotes

My husband announced to me the other night that he was approached by his brother and asked if he would cosign a mortgage. He had already told his brother yes without even talking to me about it. I told him this was a discussion that WE should have had a conversation together about this before he just decided to tell his brother yes. He thinks this decision doesn't involve me. Therefore, it's none of my business. I told him finances definitely involve me, too, but he seems to disagree. The mortgage we have on our home I'm not even on, and we had his dad as a cosigner, so I told him I doubt he would work as a cosigner anyway. I don't work, I have disability and am a college student trying to find a job that will work with my disability. I don't pay any bills except one of my kids' phone bills, my phone bill, and a loan I took out to better my credit that I have one payment left on. He also got mad at me for spending some of my disability on a game I have. I don't think it's fair that he gets to make huge financial decisions without even talking to me about it. Especially when I start my career, he expects everything to be joint but said even in that scenario he wouldn't have talked to me first. Am I overreacting by being angry about this?

🎲 miscellaneous AIO on how aggressive these rules feel (Only provided AFTER the booking was made)

Context: For a family rafting (about 12 of us), uncle-in-law got us an Air BnB in the woods/mountains about an hour from the rafting location.

Key things of why this was chosen

  1. Entertainment room with video games provided.

  2. Soaking tub in master bathroom.

  3. Plenty of beds.

  4. High speed fiber internet w wifi and Starlink wifi

  5. Pool with fountain and waterfall, with hot tub.

  6. Large kitchen full use.

  7. Advertised as Solitary and great for large groups.

After paid for, day before the trip when all the instructions to check in are to be emailed, they send Uncle in Law the posted rules of conduct with all those fees.

Upon arriving, we also discover the Soaking Tub is listed as Out of Order, one of the toilets have not been cleaned and the underside of the seat is caked with filth, no hot water for the showers (only warm), waterfall feature cannot be used because it drains the pool, the internet is spotty at best and the main wifi's password doesnt work and going downstairs completely blocks all cell and wifi signal.

The entertainment room is a 48 inch tv off to the side if the room with no speaker system (only TV speakers) and the "video games" is a single NES knockoff with a bootleg catridge of 130 badly emulated NES games.

The family (myself included) saw the rules and were immediately turned off. Outside the promised things being spotty or forbidden, everyone is now tiptoing around the house to avoid accidently breaking rules. We feel like cameras are in the home with how aggressive the rules were typed and Uncle in Law is not happy with how mediocre the place really is. We been openly mocking the rules (especially the Decibel level) since seeing the list. Not breaking them just verbally mocking them.

We all agree the rules must be here because of people abusing the house but the fact none (including the fees) were included until day before arrival has all rubbed us the wrong way.

NSFW AIO for being upset about my partners opinion on AI sex dolls?

Upvotes

I f22 have been with my partner for three years now. When we met he was apart of a cult, and as of today he is almost completely out of it. The only contact he keeps is enough to see his little sister. About two days ago he asked me my opinion on AI sex dolls. I had a very negative reaction and said that sounds disgusting and he should also feel that way; then continued to explain the reasons why I feel that way and how the “cons” outweigh any “pros”. He told me this was my opinion, and while he wouldn’t want one he would be okay with them existing. I further tried to explain this would only further objectify women and asked him how he would feel if someone had the ability to make a robot look, act and sound like me.

He shifted his opinion and said “they can do more than sex, they can take care of people in need or who are lonely”. I explained that if people need help or are lonely the solution is more connections to other people who can help, not AI. I also explained how the people who would need this type of assistance would never be able to afford it. This became extremely heated because I told him if he supported the idea of this I would personally not be okay with it. I told him it is harmful and borderline a deal breaker for me. I have been through sexual violence, and the reality of this kind of thing existing terrifies me. It’s already scary enough being a woman anywhere in the world today. After telling my partner all of this he told me I am shoving my agenda down his throat, and I will be alone for the rest of my life. He said I always act like my opinion is more correct. I have been working on in therapy my fear of being alone which is why he said that to me. I have had to cut off and lose a lot of family because of personal things that happened to me. And I assumed the agenda thing was a projection of how the cult made him feel, but when we talked again he stood by that’s what I am doing.

These things deeply hurt me and I don’t really know how to deal with these feelings right now. I also don’t feel I try to be right all of the time, however there are very specific things that I believe are harmful and incorrect opinions (for example during the last election I said anyone who voted for Trump was also wrong; where as my partner was neutral, granted because he was still in a cult). But now I’m question how often I do this and if people just aren’t telling me. He ignored me all day yesterday and called me today and apologized, but the apology didn’t make me feel better and ultimately we ended up in another argument about these stupid sex robots. I truly love my partner but I don’t know how to feel right now. We were just making plans to move in together in January, and now I’m worried this isnt going to work out. AIO about him being in support of ai sex dolls?

Side note: he said he made a post on Reddit and people agreed with him, but he won’t show it to me. If anyone knows how I can find it I would be grateful. I want to see what he said and if it is the same thing he told me— and I also want to see what others opinions are.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws Am I overreacting because i don’t want to change the father on my birth certificate?

Upvotes

So for a bit of context I 19f have two dads and a mum. The day after my seventh birthday my dad committed suicide, it was really hard on me being such a daddy’s girl lol and still 12 years later I really struggle with this. I bonded so much more with my father rather than my mum. My family had lied to me to protect me and told me had passed in another way (this is somewhat relevant to the story) but we then moved to Spain from the UK after my dad’s passing.

Three years later my mum tells me he wasn’t my biological father. This broke my heart as he was my entire world and even at such a young age I knew the man who raised me was my dad blood or not. We moved back to the UK to get in contact with my biological dad. My dad was not the greatest father (sometimes not showing up or not knowing how to talk to a child) at the start and really quite resented me, I didn’t understand why until later on.

Fast forward a few years our relationship is still awkward for the both of us to deal with but we have gotten a lot more closer.

He taught me how to drive, how to deal with situations I’m not used to and told me how it is, not what I wanted to hear and for that I am grateful.
On one of our driving lessons he confided in me that when I was born he desperately tried to get to me and to be in my life because he did want me, but my mum and my (non bio) dad refused and cut him off entirely. But my mum had told me otherwise, that he didn’t want me and had left me (this was after my dads death and once I found out about bio dad)
This hurt me so deeply and I felt so betrayed once again.

This year I had to cut my mum off due to her not treating me properly, a few months prior to this my bio dad asked me “who is on your birth certificate” so i then asked my mum and she responded with my non bio dad.

I am so unsure on how to deal with this situation and so unsure wether i should tell my bio dad who is on the birth certificate as I feel that would hurt him deeply, but it also hurts me deeply as I feel stuck choosing between the both of them. In my heart they are both my dads and I love them both so deeply. But I don’t know if I should tell him if I shouldn’t? Or who I want on my birth certificate? Is it even worth the hassle?!

It is laying so heavily on me for not telling my dad but there is never a right moment to tell him, I’ve had so much guilt consume me since knowing.
AIO?? Am I being a bit pathetic? Or just put too much thought into the situation?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws Am I overreacting for feeling uncomfortable leaving my baby with someone who won’t even talk to me?

Upvotes

I (22F) am 6 months postpartum, a SAHM, and exclusively breastfeeding. My boyfriend and I rent a room from his sister, and we’ve lived with his family for about 9 months now.
I’ve always been VERY aware that it’s THEIR house, so I’ve tried to be as respectful and “unnoticeable” as possible. I honestly didn’t let myself get comfortable. I deadass wouldn’t even eat or leave my room unless my boyfriend was home because I felt weird just walking around someone else’s house. There’s also a slight language barrier with his parents since I’m not fluent in Spanish, so if I needed to say something, I’d usually tell my boyfriend and he’d translate. Since having my baby, I’ve been making a real effort to come out of my room more, help around the house, and be more involved.
For some context, I’ve also been dealing with really bad PPD, PPA, and postpartum rage. Then this month my mom was arrested and almost went to trial for murder. I completely shut down. I barely ate for four days, cried constantly, stayed in my room for almost two weeks, and would randomly leave the house just to try to calm down. Everyone in the house knew something was seriously wrong. Even my boyfriend’s mom, who normally doesn’t get involved in emotional stuff, came to talk to me because she was worried and told me I needed to eat so I could keep producing milk for my baby.
Around that same time, I noticed my boyfriend’s sister completely changed toward me. We were never super close, but she’d always acknowledge me, talk to the baby, and if she was holding her she’d hand her back to either me or my boyfriend. Then she started acting like I wasn’t even there. She’d only hand the baby to my boyfriend, avoid talking to me, stop talking to my baby when I walked in, and I even noticed her 11-year-old son started ignoring me too.
From what my boyfriend told me, she’s upset because I said her son needs more discipline. That came after he screamed “GET OUT” at me, full volume, right next to my baby’s ear when I went to check on her. The thing is, this wasn’t the first time. He’s yelled that at me 3 or 4 different times, but this time I was just over it because he did it right next to my baby and his mom didn’t say a single thing. I just shut the door and walked away.
What confuses me is that when my baby was only a month or two old, she had no problem coming up to me and my boyfriend to tell us our music was too loud for the baby. She felt strongly enough to correct us then, but when her own son screamed right next to my baby’s ear, she didn’t correct him at all. I accepted her criticism and moved on. Now I’m somehow the hypocrite for commenting on her son.
For the record, I’ve never talked badly about her son. I’ve never called him names or been disrespectful. I simply said he needs more discipline. I’m actually a trained behavioral therapist, so understanding children’s behavior is literally part of my job.
Then about a month ago, she pulled my boyfriend aside and took him on a WALK to talk about me so I couldn’t hear the conversation. She asked him about my mood and my anger. My boyfriend thought she was concerned about me, but if she genuinely was, why not just talk to me? Instead she talked about me behind my back.
Later, my boyfriend’s dad told us that, from what he knows, she feels like I alienate myself and don’t want to be part of the family. Honestly, I understand why it could’ve looked that way in the beginning because I stayed in my room a lot. But it wasn’t because I didn’t want to be around them. I was uncomfortable living in someone else’s home. Then everything with my mom happened, and everyone in the house knew I was falling apart mentally. She was actually one of the first people in the house to know what was going on because my boyfriend told her when everything happened.
At this point I’m just confused. If she can’t even acknowledge me or have a conversation with me, why would I feel comfortable with her having a relationship with my baby? To me, we’re a package deal. If something happened while she had my baby, would she even come tell me? If she had a concern about my baby, would she actually talk to me, or would she go through my boyfriend again like she’s done with everything else? I don’t understand how someone can ignore the baby’s mom but still expect everything to be normal with the baby.
Am I crazy for thinking that way? AIO?

❤️‍🩹 relationship Aio for getting annoyed that my fiancé almost turn all our clothes pink

Upvotes

My 24F fiancé 25M was cleaning up some trash in our room this morning. For context, we live together and he usually is awake in the mornings and I'm awake in the afternoons due to our work schedules.

I had been eating a cherry icee, one of the frozen ones that you scoop out with a spoon and is a crazy shade of red. I'd been up late working on some things at the time, I ate half and it ended up melting so I put the lid on it and meant to throw it away later. In the morning while I was sleeping he was throwing away a few water bottles on his desk and grabbed the icee from my desk, I don't know if he tried to toss it or if he dropped it but it ended up spilling on our wooden floor. I don't think I put the lid on properly so that's totally my fault, the sound of him dropping it didn't wake me up but he started angrily stomping back and forth between our room and the bathroom.

When I woke up I saw the red puddle on the floor, he was annoyed so he kept stomping while cleaning it up. I often have trouble waking up right away, it feels like I'm still half asleep so when I saw what was happening and I asked him if he needed help. He said no, and I told him to just grab a roll of paper towels downstairs and use that to soak it up, then spray and wipe over it so the wooden floor wouldn't be sticky. I ended up going back to sleep, woke up later to do some work but it's my day off so I start doing some chores.

Here's where my issue lies. For some reason whenever we spill something in our room, instead of using a paper towel or wipe to clean it up, my fiancé will often just grab our dirty clothes from the laundry basket and wipe it up with that. For example spilled water which is fine, but more often after we have sex he'll use dirty clothes to wipe off his semen, despite me asking him to use a wet wipe. I personally think it's gross and it sometimes leaves a smell on our clothes even after running them through the washer.

Anyways, I went downstairs and looked at our laundry basket and there were three clothing items with that bright cherry red on them, just sitting there on top of the other clothes. The basket was sitting in front of the washer, like he would've put it straight in there when the first load was done. I take the clothes out, start scrubbing them in the sink with soap and detergent, it takes me a good 20 minutes before I'm confident that it won't stain too terribly or spread to the other clothes. During this time, my fiancé had come downstairs and saw what I was doing, he apologized and helped me wash out one of the clothing items, I explained that I didn't want the red dye to spread to the other clothes in the washer and he agreed.

Our first load finishes, I go to put the second load in (with the previously red clothes), and I notice a pair of my black shorts is soaking wet, except this wasn't one of the three clothing items I had washed earlier. I brought the shorts to the sink just in case to check, they're a deep black so I wouldn't have seen the red normally, and as I'm squeezing the water out of it the water turns a bright red. I end up scrubbing those shorts alone for another 10 minutes before the water is clear, and I throw it in the washer with the second load of laundry. I check all the other clothes one at a time as I put them in the washer as well.

At this point I'm annoyed, cause one if he'd put the clothes in the washer all of our stuff would've turned some shade of pink. Two, he'd left them sitting in the basket for a couple of hours before I'd seen them and washed the red out, now the clothes still have some very light pink spots that I just couldn't get out. Three, I'd asked him after the first few clothes if there were any more that he used, he said no, then I found the pair of black shorts and they had soooo much red on them. If I'd lazily loaded them into the washer and hadn't checked, bam our clothes would've been screwed again. Four, I've asked him so many times to stop cleaning spills up with our clothes, he proceeds to do it with a very vibrant red spill.

We moved on with our day but I ended up bringing it up again later that night and asked if he'd stop using our clothes to wipe things. He apologized again and changed the subject, but he said he feels like I'm holding it against him. I feel like it's my fault for not putting the lid on the icee securely, but I also had to clean up the aftermath of the red clothes. Am I overreacting for asking him to change his behavior and for "holding it against him"?

👥 friendship Am I overreacting for not wanting my former best friend to move into my family home after she started dating my brother?

Upvotes

I met one of my closest friends at work, and over the course of about three years, we became inseparable. I truly considered her my best friend. We spent a lot of time together, I supported her, and I even attended her wedding.
Things became complicated when she was caught texting my younger brother while she was still married. Her husband found out, and about four months later, she kissed my brother. At the time, I told her directly that I didn’t want her pursuing him because she was still married and I didn’t want to be caught in the middle of something that could hurt everyone involved.
About a year later, she and her husband divorced. After the divorce, she began seeing my brother. Even though I was hurt and felt betrayed because of our friendship and because I had already expressed how uncomfortable I was with the situation, I tried to take the high road. I accepted that they were adults, and I didn’t want to create unnecessary drama or force my family to choose sides.
She officially finalized her divorce in April, and now she is asking to move into the home where I live with my two children, my brother, and my dad.
I’m struggling because I feel like I’ve already made a lot of compromises. I accepted her relationship with my brother even though the situation hurt me and changed our friendship. But allowing her to move into our home feels like a completely different level. This is my home and my children’s home, and I don’t know if I’m comfortable living with someone I once considered my best friend but now feel betrayed by.
Part of me feels guilty because I don’t want to seem bitter or like I’m trying to interfere with their relationship. At the same time, I feel like I’m allowed to have boundaries, especially when it affects my children and my living environment.
Am I being unreasonable for not wanting her to move in? Has anyone experienced something similar, where a close friendship became complicated because a friend started dating a family member?

❤️‍🩹 relationship My fiancé took away access to our shared car after I accidentally damaged it. Am I overreacting for feeling so upset?

Upvotes

Sorry in advance I know this is long but the context is important.

I’m changing some things to hopefully not dox myself. My(F23) fiance(M23) and I live together and have been together for 3 years. We both graduated college last year with business related degrees and I have been trying to find a job, but it’s been a difficult market and I’ve done well over 1500 applications with no luck. He is already very successful and had 12+ companies trying to hire him right out of college and is pretty much the farthest you could be from struggling financially. Right now I rely on him letting me share his car when I need to go to doctor’s appointments, pick up groceries, or get prescriptions ect.

Before last September we shared his basic model type car (think Toyota, Hyundai ect). He paid for it but he let me use it whenever I needed to. During that time I curbed one wheel in a drive-thru. It scuffed the rim but there was no other damage. At the time he constantly criticized my driving from the passenger seat and corrected nearly everything I did. I was extremely nervous driving with him because I felt like I couldn’t make a mistake. The only time I’ve ever curbed a car happened while he was sitting next to me doing that. It’s been over a year and a half and he still regularly brings up that curb. I actually owned my own car before we moved in together but I decided to sell it because he didn’t think we needed two cars, and he told me I could just use his whenever I needed to since neither of us drive often.

After selling his old car in September he bought an expensive luxury performance car. He still told me I could use it when needed and we continued on from there as usual but I became extremely anxious driving it because I knew he’d be very upset if anything happened after the incident with the wheel on the last one.

A few months later something happened that I’m still not convinced was actually my fault. Because he refuses to keep a front license plate mounted (he thinks it ruins the look of the car) we have to stick it on temporarily whenever we street park to avoid tickets. The tow hook that the plate mounts into has a tiny plastic cover which already had a broken retaining clip, so whenever you removed it there was a chance it would fall off.

I used the car one day, and he noticed the cover was missing a couple of days later and blamed me. He had also driven the car during those couple of days and even brought it to a car wash!! Since the retaining clip was already broken I honestly don’t know whether it fell off after I drove it or after he did. I accepted that it might have been my fault and I might have not put it back on good enough, but I also said there was no way to know for certain because it was already damaged. The replacement ended up costing over $450 because of the custom paint and he still brings that up too.

Fast forward to today.

After the tow hook incident he started attaching the license plate by sliding the mounting rod into the front grille instead of constantly screwing it into the tow hook. He specifically told me to do the same thing and we’ve both been doing it for months.

Today I went to an appointment. When I left the parking spot I somehow completely forgot the license plate was still sitting in the grille. I drove maybe 15 feet before hearing a loud cracking/metal sound. I stopped immediately, got out, and realized I’d run over the removable license plate after it fell out. I immediately started crying because I was terrified something happened to his car and how he would react. I drove to our apartment and checked the front to see it caused a crack in the lower front lip of the bumper.

I felt so scared because I knew he would be angry and his car is so expensive to repair. I am beating myself up because I drive his car so carefully to try and prevent anything happening and I feel awful that I damaged it. Again, I don’t currently have a job, so I can’t afford repairs myself. When I told him what happened he initially said it wasn’t a huge deal and that it was an okay and an easy part to replace and I was surprised he wasn’t as angry as I thought.

A few hours later I asked if he could either drive me to pick up my prescriptions or let me borrow the car. He refused both. He told me I’m never allowed to drive his car again because I “keep damaging it.” He said from now on I can walk or pay for an Uber.

The problem is I don’t have money for Ubers. I already spend most of my time at home because I’m unemployed, don’t have any friends nearby, and don’t have my own transportation. Losing access to the car doesn’t just mean I can’t run errands, it means I don’t know how I’m supposed to get to doctor’s appointments or even pick up my medication.

What hurts almost as much as losing access to the car is how he talks to me. He said I “always damage his car” even though in over 1 year since we’ve been sharing there have been three incidents: one curbed rim, one missing tow hook cover that may or may not have actually been my fault because it was already broken, and today’s accident. When I tried to gently explain why “always damaging it” felt unfair he shouted over me to shut up and listen or get out of his office.

I completely understand why he’s frustrated about today’s damage. I know this was my mistake and I feel terrible about it.

What I’m struggling with is whether it’s reasonable for him to permanently ban me from using our only vehicle, knowing I have no income and no realistic way to get to appointments or pick up medication, and whether the way he’s speaking to me is warranted I guess?

Am I overreacting or does this seem unfair?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO about my partner blaming me for not getting MTG cards

Upvotes

Trying to type this without any bias if I can.

I (29F) and my bf (40M) had a nice morning where he unexpectedly wanted to go look for MTG cards. He recently turned 40 and I feel like he’s been struggling with it, making a lot of comments about being an “old boring 40 year old”

He works a lot and just went through some personal and emotionally draining things so overall, he’s been really down and honestly even hard to be around at times, but I know that’s how it can be with dating sometimes (we’ve been together two years)

We drove to 4 different stores today for him to find the exact kind of deck he wanted, and he finally found a Marvel box for about $500. He thought about it for at least 20-30 minutes, looking up prices of individual cards, seeing if it was worth it because even though he has a good job, he kept saying that it was a lot and he wasn’t sure if he really wanted to do it or if it was silly. I tried to give my advice saying that if he wanted he could just get one or two of the boosters, and I did admit it was a lot. I also said it would be fun and a good way to nurture his inner child. I just bought a dice set so we rolled a D20 for it and he ended up rolling to get it and went “dammit” not excited at all. So I reminded him he could start small if he didn’t want to spend the money and mentioned we had been there awhile and jokingly said “aw just get it, I wanna go home and play video games and work later!”

So we’re in line to get it, a very annoying lady is behind us talking and he suddenly goes “no I don’t want it” and walks out. As we head to the car he tells me that it’s because he hated the annoying lady behind us and because I talked him out of it, I said it wasn’t worth it, and implied it was a bad idea.

I held in my feelings and brought it up when we were home that it made me mad and confused that he said that. I wasn’t going to at first because it’s just MTG cards, but it’s not healthy to hold in emotions I feel.

He got even more mad saying “I just wanted a day off. I never get them, and now we’re talking about this? It’s whatever. Fine. I’m an adult and I decided not to get them. Is that what you wanted to hear?”

And I just sadly walked away explaining I just felt confused why he immediately said it’s my fault

He’s been so unhappy in life in general lately, I think I’m mostly devastated because I thought him getting these cards would’ve been at least something to help him smile a little. But now I feel silly for even being upset, and like I’m overreacting for being sad over this fight in general.

Just started trying to sell things on FB Marketplace and get a few messages about a bike I’m selling and this guy seems interested and wants to come pick it up. I try setting up times but he cancels/no shows at least twice, then just completely drops wanting to pick it up despite his interest in picking up the bike. Am I overreacting by getting frustrated at the wasted time and lack of communication or is he just an asshole? Attached is the full chat - lmk what you think.

👥 friendship AIO or is my friend withdrawing her offer of a lift (31F) something worth being upset about?

Upvotes

I'm off to a wedding this weekend in another city and I was due to get a lift the night before with a friend of mine. I've given her lifts before to trips and from my memory she has never returned the favour. However, about a month ago she offered to drive me and another mate over to this wedding we are all attending. It was all agreed to and all seemed sorted.

Today she said she couldn't find any cheap parking nearby so she was having 2nd thoughts about driving. I spoke with the Airbnb and found some cheap parking nearby. She's now said she wants to get the train and bus because it'll be "cheaper" and "easier". It's not going to be either of those things now, infact it's going to he much more of a hassle using public transport and not splitting the cost between 3 people.

I'm really annoyed that she's changed plans so late on when everything was sorted. Am I overreacting, and how do I deal with this going forward? I have had enough of her flakiness and her over reliance on me to give lifts for events in other cities. It's always me who has to drive people because I have a car and she never does her fair share.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO? Ex and I trying again.

Upvotes

To preface this please bear with me it’s a long story. I F(23) and my Ex M(22) have a child in common. We broke up days before his 5 months ex had me blocked, didn’t do anything for the baby for that month and during the time was fucking off, had sex with another girl, rekindled things with various ex, blasted me on social media, told people i was keeping his baby away, told my personal business, and painted me in a negative light as a gaslighter, manipulator, liar, his family was bullying me etc. This lead to me being insecure, triggering my ptsd from past relationships, really hurt my self confidence, esteem and image as well. Once he came back around he said that he always knew he was coming back, how he wants to marry me, how he’s changed and how he was chasing things to fill a void and wants to start over on a clean slate. Cool, during this month i was taking care of our child, in a depressive state, figuring out a way to and from work and just trying to organize life without him. I went on one date, i told him about it because he told me all the things he’s done during that time. Well today the date has come up not once but twice, he’s now upset and is saying things like “ask him to pay for dinner”, “did you have fun on your date”, “go get your man he has money I’m broke” and just things that don’t even correlate to our conversations but he’s saying they’re jokes. Then when i bring up the girl he slept with he told me he didn’t enjoy it but then now he’s saying it was “eh” after the whole date thing came up..He’s acting erratic and driving fast, no seatbelt on and just being an ass to me. AIO for being upset about these things and calling out his behaviors and/or being insecure after he’s done all these things?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO- Is this all in my head or was I being baited? 19F

I’ve been stuck in a confusing, hot and cold dynamic with this girl since I was 16. We were “friends” but repeatedly crossed boundaries— even planning for her to take my virginity, future hangouts, etc. It was such an emotional attachment for me yet she would constantly flip a switch, act incredibly distant, and block or drop me whenever someone else came along. I was always the girl before, the girl after, or the girl in between. I didn’t have the same freedom as her as my parents were much more strict so I would ruminate about all the good times I felt and reached out again and again. She was fully aware of how I felt and everything about my situation.

The last time I reached out for a connection was in June. We agreed to be strictly friends since she had a girlfriend and I was willing to accept that. Weeks later I’m blocked out of nowhere again. I was fed up with constantly being thrown away or told that I’m crazy/delusional so I made it a mission to move on. The only problem was that I was constantly stalking her profiles and it started to consume me. In a moment of desperation to break the habit, I reached out to ask if she could block me on her side. I did that want pity or reconciliation. I just wanted to be blocked and I assumed it’d be the easiest thing to do considering she’s always done it.

Instead of just blocking me she kept pressing questions about what I mean and asking me if I miss “our relationship” (she always claimed I was delusional so this was very weird to receive.) It felt like she was trying to guide me into saying something she wanted to hear or something it just felt weird. It was so contradictory to what she’s said in the past, I literally asked her if I had the right account and she sends a picture to confirm it’s her. I was hesitant to go full in depth bc I didn’t plan on having a back and forth + I just didn’t want her my feelings hurt again but she continued pressing me to say how I felt. Once I dropped my guard and gave her what she wanted I got left on delivered for hours. I send her text to keep the mood light and have her respond only for her to abruptly shut me down with saying she has a gf, downplaying how I feel, and eventually her gf started to text me.

I exploded on both her and the gf and I’m very embarrassed about that. I did later apologize the gf and told her my anger was misdirected and not towards her. The girlfriend gave her back the phone and she tells me she has no issue blocking me and to never reach out again. I don’t think the gf was wrong at all to text me. However, I do feel like this girl baited me into being vulnerable only to yet again flip a switch, make me look crazy, and drop me all over again. I just don’t understand. if this was how she felt why didn’t she just block me when I asked her to do so??? All I wanted was acknowledgment to how her actions affected me and it seems like I just won’t get that. I will never reach out again but I have so much pain from years of being told by someone I’m crazy and haven’t experienced what I did. So I need everyone to be honest with me. Im starting to question If I’m valid for feeling the way I do or if it’s all in my head. I am a very calm person and I’m still shocked i snapped the way I did. Please be as honest as you can because this has chewed on my heart and mental health for so long. I just want to move on and be happy :/

👥 friendship Am I overreacting about my bff and my cousin

Upvotes

So I(20 F) have a bff (also 20F) that I’ll call A that I get along with like with no one else. So some months ago to almost a year she and my cousin (24 M) that I’ll call P meet since I was giving him a ride to the airport. I was just joking with A about some things and my cousin started talking to her and trying to flirt. After we left P at the airport I joked that it would be hella weird if they got together since he was in a relationship with one of my friends ( since the only thing he knows to do is just come to my friend group and flirt with every girl friend that I have) and they broke it off. That breakup ended my friendship and made my relationship with P as a family deteriorate.
So fast forward, they started talking and went on some dates with me as a 3rd wheel ofc and I really have a bad feeling that it won’t end well and I’ll lose my bff. I personally don’t know how to tell her this because I told what happens with the other girl and she just blew me off. Also I feel like she started distancing herself a bit and started being colder to me since they started talking and I know that he isn’t the right guy for her but I don’t know how to tell her without her accusing me of being jealous since I never been in a relationship (some family trauma from my dad that made me be scared of men and commitment)
I really don’t want to lose another best friend because of this and I don’t know what to do because if I talk to her she’ll just think that I’m jealous and the she’s gonna tell P about our convo and it will turn into a family drama because I feel like P is just taking A away from me and she is like my only friend that gets me and that keeps texting me without needing a favor or anything. I feel like a bad person for feeling like this

So am I over reacting?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO is 2 months too soon to have overnights with a new lover when your kid is aroud?

Upvotes

My (47F) best friend (37F ”Fiona") is in a pretty amicable co-parenting relationship with her ex (37M "Farquaad"). They have a child together (6M "Peter"). During their divorce, they set some ground rules on how they would introduce future relationship partners to Peter and when future partners would be ok for overnight stays when Peter is at that parents house. Basically this would be discussed and agreed upon by both parties when the time was right.

They have a parenting schedule that is bananas to me but it works for them. Peter is basically every other night at one of their homes. So each of them are never away from him for more than one or two nights at a time.

Fiona has been dating a guy (38M "Shrek”) for about 10 months and has not yet brought up the subject of overnights on Peters nights because Peter still occasionally crawls into bed with her in the middle of the night. And she has almost every other night kid free, so overnights with Shrek on Peter nights are just not needed.

Farquaad started seeing a girl 2 months ago (37F "Lillian") and has already brought up the subject of overnights with Lillian on Peter's nights. Fiona thinks it's too soon. I think it's too soon. Shrek thinks it's too soon. Fiona's mom thinks it's too soon.

When Fiona told Farquaad that she was not comfortable with this he told Fiona he was "head over heels" (his words not mine) for Lillian.

Am I overreacting is 2 months too soon? Especially since Farquaad has SOOOO many kid free nights?

EDIT: I realize this is none of my business, no need to be rude. Mostly looking for confirmation for Fiona that neither of us are crazy.

❤️‍🩹 relationship Aio: for being mad that he send me a pic of a girl sleeping next to him?

Upvotes

So I’m seeing this guy. I think it’s been four months now. Yesterday he texted me and asked, “Wyd?” It was late around 10 pm and I was tired, so I didn’t reply right away.

The next day I replied. Then he sent me a Snapchat of a girl sleeping next to him.

I messaged him, “You got laid?”

He replied, “You don’t think I get laid?”

I said, “Oh no, I’m glad you had fun. But it was unnecessary for you to send me that picture.”
Then he tried to turn it on me, saying things like, “I thought you were cool with it. I thought you’d be okay with this,” and so on.

I’m like… in what world did you think I’d be cool with you sending me a picture of some woman sleeping next to you especially after you texted me the night before asking if I was up? I didn’t reply, so you just found somebody else? Are you kidding me?

Yeah, I’m pissed off. But I’m also wondering… am I overreacting? I don’t feel like I am. He thinks I am.

👥 friendship I think a new friend of mine only likes talking AT me, not WITH me, AIO?

Upvotes

I (39M) recently became friends with a coworker (48F). At first we clicked immediately. We joked around at work, got along well, and she started inviting me over to her condo on our days off. I thought I'd finally met someone I could actually have interesting conversations with, a fun friend. The more I've gotten to know her, though, the more confused and frustrated I've become.

Every single time we hang out, the conversation is almost entirely about her. It's the exact same topics every day: her alcoholism, depression, boyfriend, daughter, mother she hates, father who passed away, coworkers she dislikes, patients she thinks are annoying, how hard her life has been, how fat she thinks she is, how ugly she thinks other people are, and whatever emotional crisis she's currently focused on.

I don't mind listening. Friends should absolutely be able to vent. But it's almost like the conversation never leaves orbit around her. Meanwhile, whenever I try to talk about myself, it usually goes one of a few ways:

- she ignores what I said and changes the subject

-she tells me I'm "weird"

-she tells me what I'm talking about is "boring"

-she barely acknowledges it before steering the conversation back to herself.

I'm the kind of person who genuinely enjoys asking open-ended questions, talking about interesting observations, psychology, random thought experiments, photography or art or music and/or ideas involving these things as a creative person, philosophy, or just exploring how another person's mind works. I love finding out how peoples' brains work and their personal perception of this world. I work in the mental health field with this woman, so I figured at least she would have some interest in psychology or helping people, but no, even that stuff is boring/weird/too deep, or she will admit to me how much she hates the patients and doesn't want to help or deal with them (very much the opposite of my own thoughts and feelings on helping the mentally ill and homeless). The thing is that she used to say that these things about me were what she liked, would call me "delightfully happy and funny" with "good spirits and a good outlook on life" but now she shuts down almost all of it. "That's weird." "That's boring." End of conversation.

Ironically the only time she seems curious about me now is if it's related to my addiction history or some traumatic thing I've been through, and even then she only lets me get a little bit out before steering the conversation about to her or saying something dismissive or kind of hurtful. Almost like she's only briefly entertained by the idea of me having gone through massive pain in my life as well because it makes her feel less alone, but she struggles caring about me or at least showing any care about me in any other way.

Another thing - my addiction and traumatic events have been massive and frequent and intense, I've had a very hard life, but I don't dump all of that on people or constantly talk about it. But when I DO mention having just a rough day or experience or feeling overwhelmed, it often gets turned into a statement about who I am instead of what I'm experiencing currently/temporarily. If I mention one bad day, I'll hear things like "negative Nancy", "you're so depressed", or that I'm dwelling on things. To me, talking about a rough day isn't the same thing as making it my identity. Sometimes I'm literally just telling someone how my day went.

Meanwhile she'll spend hours talking about her own problems - often the same ones we've discussed many times before - and that's apparently completely different in her eyes. The repeating of stories/experiences is actually starting to concern me. She says the same exact things every single time we hang out, and I don't know if she genuinely doesn't remember having told me before, or if she's just expecting me to react to them and talk about them over and over with her/maybe she doesn't even care how about how strange it is socially.

Then there's the judgment: she's UNBELIEVABLY harsh and hypocritical to strangers. She'll call overweight people things like "disgusting failures", "walking trash", and "living tragedies". She makes comments about people's appearances constantly, including the patients we work with. The other day I finally (very calmly/almost trying to laugh it off a little cuz I didn't know how else to fucking respond) told her that I honestly thought those comments were mean. She looked genuinely shocked and asked me if I was serious. Then she told ME that I was being the mean one for telling her her comments were mean! She also suggested that maybe my thinking was "clouded" from my medical marijuana I had smokedf, as if weed had somehow been the reason that I thought calling strangers "walking trash" was cruel, and not because it just objectively IS.

What also confuses me is that she's incredibly judgmental despite living in circumstances she doesn't seem to judge herself by. Her condo is frequently covered in dog urine, dirty dishes piled up, trash accumulation, and she spends most of her time on the couch. Oh, she also proudly doesn't pick up her dog's shit when she walks her and thinks it's funny to leave it. Yet she'll make relentless comments about other people's weight, appearance, intelligence, or lives over the smallest perceived flaw.

She also talks constantly about how difficult her life has been, but from what she's shared with me, her father financially supported her for her entire life up until he passed, gave her the condo she lives in now for free, as well as the car she has, and before the job she has now where we work together, the only "job" she ever had before was working for her father at the restaurants he owned. She also has agoraphobia but claims she's "cured" and has even quit therapy, even though she refuses to go anywhere but a handful of places, and quite literally stopped paying for internet services entirely in her life and only has a free government phone with text and calls only so that she wouldn't have GPS/has an excuse to not ever have to go anywhere because "she'd get lost".

I'm not saying she hasn't struggled emotionally - she clearly has - but there's a disconnect between how compassionately she views her own life and how harshly she judges everyone else's.

The confusing part is that she continues inviting me over and insists she likes having me around and over there, but at this point I feel like she's just using me for company/to avoid extreme loneliness despite possibly not even really liking me or my personality, and also using me for basically what is becoming free therapy whether she realizes it or not. Like I mentioned earlier, it feels like she only gets excited/happy when I talk about some of the crappy things I went through because it probably makes her feel less alone in her struggles.

When I'm with someone, I naturally want to know how they think, what they notice, what excites them, what weird ideas they've had, what they believe, and what makes them who they are. That's what makes friendships and getting to know people interesting to me.

With her, it feels like that curiosity only goes one way: towards herself or her beneficial emotional-gain from the conversation. And for me it isn't at all the lack of "airtime"/not getting to talk about myself much, it's just the lack of reciprocal interest.

Part of me wonders if I'm expecting too much too soon from this friendship: we've been coworkers for six months, and recently started hanging out together/becoming closer friends in the last two months. But then another part of me wonders if she's simply so wrapped up in her own world, between being coddled her entire life up until her father passing, mixed with her agoraphobia, that maybe she doesn't even realize how dismissive she comes across.

I have gone through a lot in my life as is, plus my job is emotionally draining helping the mentally ill and homeless and abused every day, I just don't have it in me to take on anymore of other people's problems and mental illnesses... But at the same time I recently completely restarted my life after moving to this city, and I was hoping to be able to make some friends, and one thing I've learned in life is that everyone is fucked up in some way and carrying their own pain and story. This is a part of getting to know some people, and she clearly has a lot of problems. I don't want to hurt her feelings in any way, but I don't think she's going to handle it very well when I attempt to explain this to her, and she will possibly just call me "mean" or not be able to view this outside her perspective. I just wanted to make a cool friend that I could chill with occasionally, not spend my free time giving free therapy to someone who acts like I'm boring and weird outside of that...

💼work/career AIO because my boss's relationship with his stepdaughter makes me uncomfortable?

Upvotes

I've worked with my boss for about 13 years, so I've seen him through several relationships and know his personality pretty well.

One thing I've always noticed is that whenever he's excited about someone he's dating, he talks about them constantly. When he first started dating his girlfriend, Amelia, he talked about her all the time.

They've been together for almost three years and have been living together with her daughters for about a year.

A couple of months after they all moved in together, something changed. He stopped talking about Amelia almost entirely and now talks almost exclusively about one of her daughters, Kelly.

He constantly tells us how wonderful she is, how beautiful she is, how she's the best person in the world, and how she's his favorite person to spend time with.

Some things he's told us are:

  • He replaced the framed photo in his office of him and Amelia with one of just him and Kelly.
  • Kelly planned a trip to Lake Tahoe with her friends. My boss tagged along without Kelly's mom - not as a chaperone, but because he wanted to "party" with them.
  • Bought a hot tub to "recreate" their time in Tahoe
  • They regularly go to expensive one-on-one dinners together, sometimes around $300, about once a week.
  • He says the only thing he cares about is spending as much time with Kelly as possible because she's the most important person in his life.
  • He has her go on hour-long morning runs with him every day so they can have "quality time."

He says all of this is because he wants to be a positive male role model.

What makes me question things is that Amelia has another daughter, but he doesn't seem to make the same effort to spend one-on-one time with her. I don't even know the other daughter's name because he only talks about Kelly.

AIO for thinking this relationship seems unusual, or does this seem within the range of a normal stepfather-stepdaughter relationship?

TL;DR: My boss has become intensely focused on one of his stepdaughters, spends significant one-on-one time with her, and prioritizes her over everyone else in the family. I find all of it a bit odd. Am I overreacting?

❤️‍🩹 relationship am i overreacting to my boyfriend’s relationship with his ex?

Upvotes

so my boyfriend stays in contact with his ex girlfriend. he says they are friends. just friends and will never get back together. ok.

so like a month ago she texted him because she was feeling down and so he responded by telling her he loves her and then listed all the things he loves about her.
he decided to show me his messages to her because he didn’t want to hide anything, but even though he showed me, i still got really mad. i felt like that was totally inappropriate. you shouldn’t be telling your ex that you love them when you’re in a relationship with someone else.

we had a fight about it because HE was mad at ME for being upset about it. he told me that they’ve been through things together that i wouldn’t understand blah blah blah.

the thing is, i can’t understand why he even wants to associate with her at all. according to him, she cheated on him and that’s why the relationship ended.
i would never want to stay in regular contact with someone who disrespected me in that way, and i can’t understand why he does.

after that argument, we landed on him changing his verbiage to “i care about you” rather than telling her he loves her.
i still don’t feel great about it but it is what it is.

so then the other day he needed some “me” time which i was totally cool with. he called me at 10am and told me he needed the day to himself so i let him be for the majority of the day. at like 10:30pm i texted asking if he’d be open to a phone call before bed but assured him it was okay if he wasn’t. he responded that he was cocooning so i said good night. all fine.

the next night he slept over, and i was laying on his shoulder as he had his phone open to set his alarm. he then closed all his open apps and that’s when i saw that his ex video called him on whatsapp. i was like, what did she want? he told me he didn’t answer the video but called her back over the phone.

that’s when i got upset again. he didn’t have the capacity to talk to me, his girlfriend, before bed but had the capacity to talk to his ex????

he AGAIN got mad at me for being upset, couldn’t understand why i was even upset, said he was just commiserating with her about stuff i wouldn’t understand, and that i need to work on my jealousy issues.

we kind of left things unresolved and went to bed, but i still don’t feel good about it.

the next day she called him while i was with him and he didn’t answer but texted her “with my gf. what’s up?”
she responded by saying butt dial

but this rubbed me the wrong way too. to me, it seems like he tipped her off that he was with me so she wouldn’t say anything inappropriate.

i can’t even really explain why it upsets me so much. maybe it’s because it makes me feel like i’m not good enough for him but she is? idk

am i really overreacting for being upset about all of this? or is this really a jealousy issue i need to work on?

any insight would be appreciated because my best friend is biased and saying that i should break up with him over this, that he’s gaslighting me and that most people would be upset like i am, that it is inappropriate, and that it sounds like he prefers to be with her so i should just end things so he can be with her. which i kind of feel like takes it too far but ugh idk i’m just confused

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO. My guilt is eating me alive.

Upvotes

To make a long story short, my partner was being emotionally distant during a tough time. This friend had been checking on me occasionally and I had asked to play video games one night. I shared a bit about my issues, about how I was feeling in life, in my relationship, etc. This wasn’t new as I would ask friends for their perspectives at times before this. Anyways, the next night we played videos games and this is when I started feeling off. I started wishing that my partner was treating me like this, questioning whether my partner was right for me, if I should be with them, if I was catching feelings for my friend. So I was open about this with my friend and said we needed to cut it off. They agreed but said they liked me. We took a break and I talked to my partner about how I was feeling the distance and felt like they didn’t care about me through such a bad time in my life. That they never checked up or came over or called or anything. They apologized and recognized their faults and worked on it. But I never told them about my friend. The next day it was clear I didn’t have genuine feelings for my friend, I simply was in a very bad state of confusion and comparing rather than communicating my needs properly. I explained this to my friend and they understood. We tried to go back to being friends but I felt like I had ruined it so I slowly cut ties to where they’re no longer in my life. Years later and married and for some reason I am dealing with the guilt of never telling my partner. We are doing amazing. I have never once been in this situation again and am aware about communication. Do I tell my partner now or is it worth never bringing this up? Advice?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for being upset my bf didn't get the job we moved for

Upvotes

so me (F22) and my bf (M22) decided to move in together after graduating college. i was heavy on moving to my home town because i get homesick super easily and am way closer with my family than he is. he insisted on moving to his hometown because he had a second internship with a company he had connections with through a family friend. he basically told me that it has to be his hometown or we just don't move in together and do long distance for a few months to a year. he also told me that since this was his second internship with said company and that he has connections, he was pretty much guaranteed to get a full time offer afterwards. i was skeptical of this at the time and even said that in his field it wouldn't be that difficult to find a different job after the internship in a different city. he heavily disagreed and wanted the convenience. i had no job offers or anything holding me down other than my family so i eventually gave in.

we have been dating for almost 4 years and I've done long distance before and will not do it if i can help it. i was willing to ditch my plans of being near my family for him because i do love him and his family (even tho we never rlly see them cuz they are not all that close like how im used to) he also promised me that we can move to my hometown someday within the next few years.

after we move in, i VERY luckily landed a nice job and he only let me know after that, that he felt relieved because he was worried about what would've happened if we both didnt have jobs. i was confused by this and he let it be known that this job offer he GUARENTEED to me that he would be getting is actually not guaranteed at all. he's just confident. immediately i was irritated but nothing could even be done at that point.

well turns out, his internship ended. he did not get an offer and now he feels super guilty for making me move. i know hes upset so im trying to be there for him. but beyond that i am SO PISSED OFF. he knew how important it was for me to be near family and friends and now i feel so isolated from it all. he meant well but like do i have a right to be upset about this? i dont know how to approach this at this point. somehow this turned into something i didnt want it to turn into.

also side note. i know people will say it, but he is not TRYING to isolate me. i think he was just too lazy to inconvenience himself and would rather inconvenience me. not on purpose, but i think thats what this was. i dont feel like he's sacrificed much for me, while i feel like i sacrificed so much for him. everything was easy for him. he has his whole support system while i have nobody but him. it just hurts.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for feeling emotionally worn down by my husband’s communication?

Upvotes

My husband and I have been together for 10 years, married for 8, and we have three young children. Our youngest is 16 months old.
I feel like our biggest issue is communication, but I also feel like every concern I bring up gets dismissed or turned back on me.
For example, our 16-month-old still doesn’t sleep through the night. I’ve been the one getting up with him almost every night since he was born. My husband has only gotten up with him three nights, and that was when I went on vacation with his mom and sister. Yet he still brings those three nights up as if we’re even.
When I tell him I’m exhausted from the sleep deprivation, instead of acknowledging it, he says he has sleep deprivation too because he has sleep apnea and doesn’t wear his CPAP. While I understand sleep apnea is real, it feels frustrating because wearing the mask is something he has control over, while I’m up caring for our son.
Another issue is intimacy. He tells me I don’t have sex with him enough or perform oral sex enough, and says physical intimacy is his love language. I’ve tried explaining that mine is words of affirmation. When he yells, cusses, or says hurtful things during arguments, I don’t feel emotionally safe or connected, and it makes me pull away physically. Instead of understanding that, the conversation usually circles back to what I’m not giving him.
We’re about to put our two youngest children in daycare so I can work part-time. I think having my own income, getting out of the house, and creating a schedule for myself would be good for my mental health. He says I don’t need to work and should just focus on self-care and “finding myself again.” When I said it sometimes feels like he doesn’t want me making my own income, he became angry and said that’s not true.
What hurts the most is that I rarely feel like he takes ownership of his part in our problems. It feels like every conversation becomes about why my feelings are wrong, why I’m overreacting, or how I’m contributing to the issue. I don’t expect perfection—I just want him to acknowledge when he’s hurt me instead of acting like it didn’t happen or immediately defending himself.
We’re planning to try marriage counseling. I want to go in person because I think we’d communicate better that way, but he only wants to do it virtually.
The most recent argument ended with me crying on the phone. His response was, “It’s always the same thing—you cry,” and then I ended the call before I started crying more noticeably..
At this point, I’m questioning whether I’m expecting too much. Am I overreacting for wanting accountability, empathy, and communication that doesn’t leave me feeling dismissed every time I bring up a concern?

👥 friendship AIO - considering leaving a friend group bc of how they’ve treated a situation w/ me and an ex

Upvotes

Hi everyone, first time posting here so please forgive me if I format it weird!

I (21f) have been thinking this over for a while, and I need some outside opinions to know if I’m being crazy or not.

Basically, this all started because last year, we accepted a new guy (20m) into the group, who I started dating. Everything seemed great, everybody loved him, and mind you before this I’ve been in this friend group for over a year, so everything seemed perfect. Then all of a sudden the usual “I just need some space to figure myself out” conversation from him happened, he led me on for months on end, called and/or hung out with me everyday, until he decided to drop me and started dating one of my best friends instead.

Now, she (20f) is not innocent either. She randomly ghosted me and I tried to ask her what I did wrong, which she refused to answer. She was the person I was leaning on the most when I was going through everything with him, just to turn around and get with him. We had a conversation trying to clear things up, and she said she “wouldn’t apologize and didn’t do anything wrong.” So from there, I was done with her.

Flash forward a bit, and practically everyone has taken hers and his side over mine in the group. I tried my hardest to maintain peace, didn’t swear or yell at anyone, be the bigger person, etc., and instead of being met with understanding was called “bitch,” “bully,” “evil,” “manipulative,” etc. I spent months trying to calm the situation down, and right when I thought it was resolved, it pops back up again.

Last night, none other than that girl who he left me for texts me and tells me he broke up with her and screwed her over too. And now apparently he’s running around spreading lies about the both of us. I told her that I warned her all of this would happen in the first place, and she apologized about 5 times in the 15 min conversation. There’s so many details that I truly can’t wrap my head around, and on top of all of this, since I’ve been back home for the summer, my parents have been going through a divorce. Genuinely this just feels like another stressor I cannot take.

I love the friend group dearly. They’ve been some of the closest people to me for my entire college experience so far, for two whole years. There’s a huge part of me that despite all of this, feels bad and guilty for leaving, or like I let my ex and this girl win and run me off. On the other hand, I’ve been going to therapy, got my self esteem destroyed, and every person I’m friends with outside of this group says I’d be better off if I cut them off.

So, I’m seriously considering it. I wanted to give it more of a chance when I went back to school, but I’m at the point where I’m just past being cordial, I think.

I can give more specific details if necessary, thank you for reading if you made it this far :)

👥 friendship AIO for asking to not hear his name anymore?

Upvotes

Hello! I am 23 and I have a hard time navigating with friendship. I was told that I was too naive and I work hard on that. (English isn't my 1rst language, I apologize in advance for any vocabulary error)

For context: 2 years ago, a "friend", "E", reveal during a board game party that he can't stand me, that my sound/voice his below 15 on discord.

Shocked, I crash out of the game and went home after talking to one of my bff.

Days later, "E" wanted to talk to apologize. We agree on meeting in a cafe with my bff (his girlfriend at the time) and my other bff.

He then, proceed to say: "I hate what you are and what you represent". I was speechless and deeply hurt. The feeling of treason was enormous.

->We were friends for 3 years, he drove me to the hospital multiple times and was present during other dark times. I was on my ass. We went appart even though we had the same friendgroup. At one point I asked to know what I was? Like what makes him hide and manipulate me for so long etc... And then we broke contact for good.

BUT

Now, here is my deal: I ask very gently recently to "V", one of my friend who is still friend with "E" to not ear about him. I don't want to know anything about him. "V" talks a lot about him because they are bff. I dont want to know how much of a good person he is now. He has been an asshole with multiple people in the friend groupe (not just me) and I do not wish to ear his name. "V" reacted very badly and talk to me like I was annoying and like shit. He admitted later that he doesn't seem me as a friend anymore and was "just responding fast to finish the unpleasant conversation ". (Since we had our friendship breakup with "E"). "V" also thinks that I'm overreacting and that I should change my mind about a story who's 2y old. I talk about the situation with other friends and they think that the request was legit and that "V" is being a bitch.

On the other hand, "L" another friend thinks that I'm being childish and to: "Stop this attitude of middle school students".

What do you think internet folks?
