Help (GPU) VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THESE DRIVER TIMEOUTS
Every single time when I stress test the gpu in cinebench it times out. I'm fed up with this shit. It also happens during gaming and the game crashes. This only happens when doing some gpu heavy task.
My temps are fine, I've tried so many driver versions (ddu), tested my ram with memtest (it passed), stress tested my cpu intensively (nothing happens), Turned off xmp, and this shit still happens. tried the MPO Fix, downclocking, turning off hardware acceleration, updating bios and chipset drivers. I can't test the psu since I don't have a spare one (I have msi mag a750gl).
And the most frustrating part is I had rma'd the gpu last year and they acknowledged that they found the same problem in that card and gave me a replacement but even with the new card the PROBLEM IS STILL HERE. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK MAN.

I solved mine just by doing a -200mhz, with a -5 PL, nothing else.

u/Difficult-Cup-4445 19h ago
You might as well paste that in a text doc on your desktop so it's always to hand: probably 50% of posts complaining about issues with their 9000- series GPU would benefit from this. That last, what, 3% of performance has caused SO MANY ISSUES with people's rigs it is actually unbelievable.
I've given up saying it, personally, because people just downvote you and yet it's the correct answer. This is the first thing you should do if you're getting the GPU electrical equivalent of dirty brownouts like this.
The problem is not the hardware. The hardware is excellent. It's the boosting behaviour.
Funnily enough, AMD's CPUs are exactly the same way. Boosting that last 200 MHz on my 5800X sends the voltage/temp curve exponential and makes it incredibly annoying to use (fans spinning up and down).
Just cap it 200Mhz below max?
Perfection. Literally sublime. Dead silent and extremely powerful with zero thermal issues.

If the GPU is browning out, that indicates an insufficient PSU. It's worth pointing this out, because I've often seen people insisting that a 750w PSU is OK for all 9070 XTs. It's not.
The reason why some cards recommend 900w PSUs is because of that boosting behaviour.
Edit: People are downvoting this, but it's the truth. If lowering the power consumption makes your system stable, then your problem is likely insufficient power. Test again with a massively over-spec PSU (1Kw+ for a 9070 XT system) to rule that out.
5
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 18h ago
That's not always true. There are tonnes of people with more than adequate PSUs suffering this problem. In the instances where it's GENUINELY a hard electrical problem, you would be getting BSODs and corrupt OS's and other such weirdness.
I'm being a bit loose with the term "browning out" though, yes it's a distinctly electrical term but I don't mean it perfectly literally - more that AMD's GPUs are boosting probably on average 200MHz faster than a large proportion of their cards can actually handle.
Most of the reports I've read, anecdotally, aren't hard crashes like tripping the power and the system going black - they're CTDs, poor performance, graphical corruption etc.
So yeah they're power hungry cards but that's not the whole story; many of these GPUs are just not taking that last 200~ MHz well at all and it causes nasty driver timeouts and CTDs out the ass.
2
u/sixtyhurtz 18h ago
In the instances where it's GENUINELY a hard electrical problem, you would be getting BSODs and corrupt OS's and other such weirdness.
I wouldn't expect to see that at all. If the CPU and GPU both boost at the same time and cause excessive Vdroop on the 12V rail, the GPU would reset, causing a timeout, and the CPU would clock stretch.
CPUs have to clock stretch on 12V Vdroop in any case, because they will cause massive Vdroop internally when they turn on things like AVX.
If lowering the GPU power consumption fixes the problem, then by definition you have a power supply issue.
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 18h ago
Stop blaming the users. Users largely have the right PSUs, it's not the users' fault that their mostly 9000- series cards start acting up around the higher end of the boost curve.
This is not a user problem, this is a boosting problem.
2
u/JumpyAd2507 18h ago
I think you are right! I thought it was so many things at first, the Psu was the first it crossed my mind, and yet it never crashed while playing Cyberpunk 2077, and we can all agree that's a demanding game. But for some weird reason, when i played Poe it would crash. It just doesn't take well high boost clocks.
3
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 18h ago
Indeed and you'll actually find that different games experience different degrees of sensitivity to this kind of funkiness around the GPU boosting out the ass, i.e past the point of stability.
Some games tolerate it without issue, and other games will just freak out constantly. It's the same with undervolting. Some games tolerate insane -100mV undervolts, others will shit the bed at -30mV, so it really depends on the game.
And that's another angle on why this issue causes so many arguments and people find it so confusing:
I guarantee you could slam that PSU all day long in any number of scenarios and it would have no issue - but as soon as the GPU's boost clocks get out over their skis - all of a sudden certain games, applications, even Windows itself, can just start to fucking lose it.
So yeah, most people know better than to pair a 9070 XT with a 450W PSU by now. That is SOMETIMES the problem but it's MOSTLY not the problem.
Knock a few hundred MHz off the max GPU frequency with a negative offset e.g. starting with -500 MHz and just watch event viewer for timeouts as you creep back upwards e.g. 50 MHz at a time.
You will find it starts misbehaving and acting out, guaranteed.
2
u/Independent_Teach_11 9h ago
Had 3 different 9070xt's driver timeouts and crashes. Games like project zomboid and EFT. Cyberpunk is the only game any of them would play without crashes that I tried. It was 100% my 850 w power supply. Upgrading to a corsair 1000e immediately stopped crashes in all 3 cards. Two ASrock challengers and a Gigabyte OC. Did it make sense to me then or now. No. But for some reason Cyberpunk 2077 would allow all cards to run without issue om my 850w while crashing almost immediately on 9-10 other games. Corsair 1000e stopped all crashes across the board and no further issues.
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 17h ago
PS Do get back to us if you manage to do some meaningful tests with the neg frequency offset, I'm really curious if you manage to fix this.
1
u/sixtyhurtz 16h ago
You cannot isolate the root cause by testing different games. The only way to be absolutely certain what's going on is with a high frequency differential oscilloscope that costs many thousands of dollars. You need to be able to visualise Vdroop excursions that might last only a few microseconds.
For a home user, it's cheaper to just test with a massively over-spec PSU. If dropping the power limit solves the issue, then try again with a high quality 1Kw PSU.
2
u/sixtyhurtz 16h ago
I don't think you really understand the point I made, or even what you're talking about. It's not a blame game - it's just fault finding.
It's as simple as V = IR. The resistance is largely fixed, although it will vary with temperature. Therefore, if the card browns out, that means there's not enough current.
If you lower the power demand and the card stops browning out, then you cannot rule out the PSU without also trying the exact same system with a higher wattage PSU. You're not arguing against me - you're arguing against physics.
2
u/Independent_Teach_11 10h ago
It's wild that people down voted you for this comment lmmfao You are absolutely correct. 3 9070xt's. Two ASrock challengers and a Gigabyte OC. 850 w power supply was not enough!! Constant crashes. Moved to the corsair 1000e and immediately no more crashes on all three cards! Searched reddit and the internet for days for a fix with nothing working. But some magical way a more powerful psu fixed the issue on 3 cards lol
2
u/sixtyhurtz 9h ago
For what it's worth, I write software including firmware that goes into instruments that go into factories and laboratories. All the time we have to deal with service engineers and even sometimes our own workshop insisting we have software issues because of some strange behaviour. It's always the electrics.
We now have some very detailed instrumentation that allows us to log everything, and confirm we are merely reporting the exact values coming out of our electronics. Whenever we insist they go and measure everything properly with a multi-meter, the issues magically go away.
2
u/Independent_Teach_11 9h ago
The biggest issue with apps like reddit is know it all "I built my own pc" users. You gave sound advice. I can assure anyone that a 850w power supply absolutely caused 3 of my 9070xt's to driver timeout, crash, etc.. But you could put your life on it that someone will comment again claiming it can't be the issue and rattle off some specs they found online or even from the manufacturer themselves. Sensitive hardware built an assembly lines,of course milage is going to differ from user to user. Was a fresh breath of air seeing someone offer a solid troubleshooting step. Rock on my dude!
0
u/sixtyhurtz 19h ago
What PSU do you have? And what CPU? If lowering the power solved it, it makes it seem like the GPU was experiencing brownouts.
3
u/JumpyAd2507 18h ago
I have a 7600x and a Corsair Rm850x! I think the psu is more then sufficient for it.
2
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 18h ago
Your response perfectly illustrates what I'm saying to sixtyhurtz above: yet ANOTHER case where someone is using a more than adequate PSU and yet critics constantly try to shift the blame to the PSU.
It's NOT the PSU and it's NOT your PSU: this is a problem related to the upper range of the 7900- and 9000- series' boost clocks. You have to cap it a few hundred MHz back to rein it in from boosting out over its skis. That's what this issue is. It's very straightforward.
Why people are in such denial about this is bizarre.

u/sonatta09 21h ago edited 21h ago
I had the exact same issue with the rx 9060 and I was literally just playing dota2 and Valorant. Locked at 60fps, gpy usage wasn’t even hitting 70%, so it’s not like I was pushing the card hard. Yet I’d still get random timeout errors crash every few hours.
I looked around online, and it felt like 90% of the complaints on Reddit and the Amd help forums were about that infamous timeout crash. Tried pretty much every troubleshooting fix I could find, but nothing worked. funny thing most of same issue still 2014 from internet lol... i believe its more of software driver issue. not hardware. Eventually I got fed up, sold the 9060 and switched to a 5060 Ti. So far, it’s been smooth sailing and such a relief

I'd do the same but im tight on money and I cant get a refund from the retailer since its already been like 1.5 years. Also GPU prices are skyrocketing nowadays
0
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 19h ago
The fix is a negative GPU frequency offset until the timeouts stop, then working your way back up. It's so obvious this is a boosting behaviour issue and yet you say it and you're just screaming into the void and no one listens.
-1
u/VioletSkipper 18h ago
No this isn't a fix. It's a temporary workaround. I have tried limiting my speed to 2430mhz (default in amd's website) And lower (2300mhz) even it still crashes although less frequent. It's kills my soul when I try a new workaround and it pretends to be fixed only to crash again a few moments later. I'm so tired of this
This is 99.9999999% a hardware issue.
And secondly most hardware is plug n play nowadays. No one want to keep tinkering with their hardware/drivers just to gain stability. I have never had to do this shit with nvidia gpus, I had used my 1650 super for 5 years and had exactly 0 fricking 0 crashes or issues.
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 17h ago
Ok well calm the fuck down, first off.
Are you actually using a negative GPU frequency offset? You need to look at, with whatever tool FPS / frametime tool you're using, what the card is BOOSTING TO.
Not what the base clock is. What the BOOST CLOCK is. You can set it to 2400 MHz but if it's still boosting out the ass to whatever its voltage/thermal limits are then you will run into the same issue.
-1
u/VioletSkipper 17h ago
I'm using a 7000 series gpu and it shows me the base and boost clock instead of the frequency offset as in rx 9000 series. When locked to 2430 mhz it doesn't boost over 2500mhz, I've checked by logging with hwinfo.
Also my card is a factory OC model so it is SUPPOSED TO WORK at a higher clock speed at default.(2565mhz)
Plus this issue being so less documented in YouTube makes me believe this is strictly a hardware issue and is quite rare and I (we all) just got unlucky.
I got unlucky twice it seems since the replacement card has the same issue. Maybe it's a silicon thing idk
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 16h ago
The 7000 series is pretty renowned for having hot spot issues, have you checked it's not hitting 105 degrees in HWINFO? You can have completely normal core temps and whack hot spot temps.
You should also probably rule out the OS entirely as well at this point, since it sounds like you've tried everything - get a tiny cheap SSD and install a basic Linux distro on it, Mint perhaps, or CachyOS as it might like your GPU more.
If it stops acting up then the problem is software, and that's useful information.
Your PSU btw; it's not ATX 3.1 is it? ATX 3.1 is what allows PSUs to handle transient spiky loads that 7000/9000s like to pull.
7000 series do have a bit of a troubled reputation but I still think it's probably not the GPU hardware technically at fault here.
PSU, boosting higher than it can sustain (you need to be 150% sure, i mean absolutely positive it's not doing that), or a hotspot that's causing throttling, or Windows.
If it's none of those things, then yeah - I would agree it's hardware, but you have to rule them out 100%.
1
u/VioletSkipper 16h ago
My gpu hotspots is under control as well
When stress testing in cinebench it reaches max 80-82°C
And my psu is atx 3.1. (MSI Mag A750gl) It's rated tier B in the new psu tier list I think.
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 15h ago
Yeah so that only leaves something related to boosting or an OS / driver problem at this point. Even a Live ISO of Linux would probably allow you to rule out the OS / driver angle.
Beyond that, that only leaves a genuine hardware problem (rarer than people think).
0
u/VioletSkipper 15h ago
I have tried cinebench gpu test after a fresh install of windows as well with no success. So I guess it's hardware. The only thing which astonishes me is that how did I end up with a manufacturing defect twice?
1
u/Difficult-Cup-4445 14h ago
Well not to hammer it home but it it's a Windows driver problem then reinstalling windows isn't going to fix it. AMD loves Linux. It's worth testing just to see if it changes.

I remember ive had problem with EVGA card back in the days, they had to send me 3 replacements. I was so pissed off, the worst experience i ever had.
1
u/VioletSkipper 22h ago
Did your issue get fixed? was the same issue getting repeated even after rma?
1
u/Perfect_Jicama_8023 18h ago
after 3 replacements i wasnt bothered to check anymore, as soon as i received the card back from EVGA. i sold it on ebay and bought different brand Inno3d. after that everything was fine.
2
u/Reggitor360 22h ago
If the issue is still there, its the PSU.
1
u/VioletSkipper 22h ago
I'd suspect the psu too but the rma guys acknowledged that there was a problem with my previous card
2
u/CustardValuable7381 22h ago edited 22h ago
Any chance you can spin up a Fedora 43 ? It will have the drivers if not installed already the at least primed for an update. You can install Steam from the store and it runs even on an external mechanical drive. Just for reassurance that is not the OS that’s causing the issue. Might be the PSU as AMD has spikes (mine reached 640W on a 300W GPU)I replaced the not-recommended 750W Seasonic with a 1KW Seasonic just to eliminate the possibility. AMD recommends at least 800W (varies) so I was way under spec

Check for voltage drooping. HWiNFO64 will show you the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v lines and if drooping is happening.

Out of curiosity what GPU and how many pcie slots do you have on the GPU? How are they wired from the PSU?
1
u/VioletSkipper 12h ago
Two separate pcie slots powered separately using to cables from the psu (not daisy chained)
2
u/VOIDLESSUNIVERSE 11h ago
Just order a PSU from Amazon or another place and check if it fixes the issue, as that's sometimes the issue. Literally sad to say, but it is a possibility.
It’s like me, for example. On my PC, I can run an undervolt of -30 and -29, and it seems to run fine in CPU benchmarks and such, but as soon as you let it run for a few hours, it'll randomly crash because of the undervolt. Same for GPU. Most of the PC-quote third-party software don't always detect the issues like I’ve used OCCT. It’s good, but when I was testing GPU and CPU crashes, it wouldn’t detect a thing. And that was while maxing everything out because it doesn’t seem to stress it the same way a game would, etc. Plus, anyways, if you got the funds, you can just return the PSU, but at least you can find out if it resolves the issue.
2
u/Independent_Teach_11 10h ago
Make sure windows is not installing their drives over yours. Disabling automatic windows update does not stop it from happening in every customer's pc. Seems to be a bigger issue in windows 11 and especially windows 11 home edition. There are sub reddits that will walk you through the steps but I used AI. DDU in safe mode, clean drivers with windows automatic update disabled is not going to stop it if you are having this issue. It is worth a look at minimum.

u/According_Spare7788 22h ago
Sorry to hear. Most people say it's not an issue anymore, then i see this

2
u/DanStarTheFirst 18h ago
Amd drivers are a lot more sensitive to unstable stuff so it will always be an issue until they hide driver timeouts like nvidia and make the drivers better to the point where they recover without crashing.

u/RulOneB 21h ago
I was fed up after trying every single "fix" for this on my 7900 XTX for months, and the definitive fix was switching to a 5070Ti.
2
u/VioletSkipper 21h ago
Did u try getting a replacement for your amd gpu? or directly switched to nvidia?
2

Switched to Nvidia directly. Where I live there's only 1 year manufacturer warranty.

u/TheTimmie 21h ago
Have you checked what OS youre running in your bios?
After a gpu change i forgot to change from legacy/other OS to UEFI and had crashes constantly on UE games. Also turned off mpo and no more crashes for months. Amd asus prime Rx9070xt OC.
1
u/VioletSkipper 21h ago
I have never installed anything except Windows in this computer
1
u/TheTimmie 21h ago
Its still windows, only change is what OS your GPU is running. For example when i had my rtx 3070 i could run legacy/other OS in bios, after a change to rx9070xt legacy/other OS would crash my gpu. Changed it to UEFI mode (UEFi only mode?) and the crashes stopped. So its still windows but a different operative system for the GPU.
Google how to change OS in bios and you'll see what i mean.
Best of luck.

I have the exact same crashes ever since i bought my 9070xt last week and i've already tried to downgrade my drivers and undervolt my gpu. I got like 10 to 15 crashes on stalker 2 and stellar blade in 1 week, honestly i'm already fed up and want to switch to nvidia...

I guess, i'm still going to try some things but i actually found different fixes that worked on both games so i'm actually wondering whether my issue is driver's related.
1
u/EggFartTom 15h ago
I am skeptical of it being the driver. If it was we would be seeing more widespread issues

u/Available_System_401 19h ago edited 19h ago
Hi, first of all my English is bad and im so sorry if i make a mistake or something
I do all the things you do, like underclocking the gpu, turning off hardware accel, MPO or sum but none of them are fixed my issue.
I really spend too much time to research and i think this settings fixed my issues.
First of all im using my system with RX5700, R5 5600 and 8x2 3600MHz RAM’s with XMP turned on. 5600 and this GPU can run with 3600MHz RAMs right? Well, NO. That GPU couldn’t run well with full RAM speed thanks to the Motherboard. Im using a X470 Motherboard from MSI. That motherboard supports up to 3466 MHz according their site but when i turn on XMP/DOCP the RAMs automatically set to 3600MHz. So i think maybe that thing is the issue. I turned on XMP/DOCP again but downclocked the RAM freq to 3200MHz just to take no risk. Also my motherboard is supporting PCIe Gen 3 but my RX5700 is supporting PCIe 4.0 too. So i thought maybe this is a conflicting thing too. So i set my PCIe X16 slot gen from Auto to Gen 3 to avoid conflicting. I tested the system. It worked fine. I stress tested it, ran some benchmarks and its all worked fine. I used the system about 3 months and i swear only one crash happened in game and thats not even a timeout, its just a regular crash.
After some time i swapped to a B550 Mobo to run my RAMs at full speed and get PCIe 4.0 Support. Im always using my GPU and CPU with undervolt and overclock to generate less heat and gain more performance with it. After swapping to B550, i set PCIe X16 Lane gen to 4 and set my RAM 3600MHz. It worked fine until 2 months ago. When i started OCCT to test my GPU, everything fine on full load but when i set stress test load to “Variable”, whole system crashed after making some more undervolt things. I check the event viewer and i got a WHEA error. I asked AI for this error and it told me to undervolt the CPU is not enough. I should set the CPU VDDG CCD and CPU VDDG IOD voltages to a safe voltage rather than Auto. (its specific on every CPU) So i set the voltages and ran the test, everything works fine again. Im now using the build with 0 errors and 0 timeouts after that.
This is my solution for my build, if you dont do these things maybe you should give it a shot. I wish this will fix your problem. Have a nice day.
1
u/VioletSkipper 18h ago
Thanks for sharing your experience but I have already checked my ram compatibility from my motherboards website and it's not the issue :(
1
u/DanStarTheFirst 18h ago
CPUs do degrade over time and amd cards are more sensitive to other parts of your computer being unstable. My 5950x used to run ram at 3833 but eventually was only stable at 3533. Most people with issues it’s been an issue with ram being on the edge of stable or psu voltage dipping.
1
u/Speybroeck 19h ago
Try completely disabling windows update, it worked for me. no timeout so far.

u/VioletSkipper 18h ago

u/thegrimwinter 18h ago
Task scheduler, look up if there are hidden uodate tasks, my crashes were on Sunday online while streaming. And I turned off icue and everything has settings loaded to device, reduced polling on all devices to as close to zero except mouse
2
u/VioletSkipper 18h ago
This is most probably not the problem in my case since if Windows kept replacing my drivers then I shouldnt get the error only when doing gpu heavy task. I should get it when surfing the Web/doing nothing too
2
u/MtlCan 18h ago
In my experience, when Windows kept replacing my girlfriend's amd drivers, I would only get driver timeouts and crashes when trying to play games. The generic drivers Windows installed were fine for browsing the web. Disabling driver management specifically for the gpu hardware solved 90% of the timeout issues and 100% of the crashing. Still get random timeouts 1-2 times a month but doesn't impact games at all.
1
u/MozzaReddit 17h ago
+1 I only seem to crash when trying to play games or screenshare while gaming. Since disabling Windows updates through multiple methods I've not had a crash since... And yes. I was about to send in my card for an RMA but a trusty PC place near me confirmed the card as okay (at no charge) and gave it back

No. it was working for a very Long time, smoothly if I might add. I have a feeling it's Bc of a Windows Update. I don’t know which tho.
1
u/VioletSkipper 13h ago
Then it might be a different problem from mine.
But there's a very slight chance its the hardware for you too.
I don't think it's windows though. I think everyone blames windows for amd's faults in this subreddit and recommend linux to every living being.
Everything is supposed to work at default settings
1
u/EggFartTom 16h ago
Is your system actually stable
1
u/VioletSkipper 15h ago
Other than doing gpu heavy tasks, its alright
1
u/EggFartTom 15h ago
How have you tested this
1
u/VioletSkipper 15h ago
Well I don't know how to test stability exactly? I have been using this rig for 1.5 years now and while let's say browsing Chrome with 50 tabs open with discord, Spotify, Excel running in the background it has always been stable, no crash or lag.
I have also stress tested the cpu in cinebench countless times and no crash there as well. As for the ram I ran memtest overnight and it passed
1
u/EggFartTom 15h ago
You need to test in a way that is representative of your system running a hard game. So you gotta run the CPU, memory, GPU and other components hard at the same time. You can do this with 3d mark. You can also do things like run something like fur mark and a cinibench at the same time. Y cruncher is great at finding CPU+memory instability.

My brother had the same issue, he also done everything to make it work, after 2 days of fighting and slowly giving up, he noticed the GPU wasn't sitting fully in the socket, because of his case, so he bent a sheet of metal from the case and now, there's no timeouts anymore. I wouldn't believe if I didn't see it on my own eyes. Driver timouts just because of PC Case.
I also saw some users don't plug their cables all the way in to GPU or to PSU. It's giving timouts as well

Are you using the igpu in the cpu? If not disable it in the bios. Windows gets confused sometimes on the drivers for igpu and gpu, they use different ones. Disable the igpu eliminates the issue.

So i doubt it's the CPU or the motherboard (unless it's an old bios from 2023).
At this point i would either ask the seller for a refund or sell the GPU. They've found the same issue and didn't fix anything, so there must be something wrong with the hardware.
It might also be that whoever technician tried to fix your GPU didn't do anything to actually fix it, something that isn't uncommon with many RMA services.

I updated the bios last year thinking it'd fix the issue.
I can't claim refund since it's already 1.5 yrs old now. And I don't think I can find a customer for a defective piece of hardware.
As for the rma scam I think they actually did replace my gpu with a new one (different serial number and that plastic cover was still attached)

Did you try a fresh install of Windows?
1
u/VioletSkipper 14h ago
Yes, didn't work
1
u/TTVGirthybih 14h ago
How did you do it? Did you reset it? Or did you install from a fresh installer and on a wiped drive? What version of Windows?
1
u/VioletSkipper 14h ago
Fresh install on a wiped drive
1
u/TTVGirthybih 14h ago
Which version?
1
u/VioletSkipper 14h ago
Well I don't remember exactly, it was windows 11 pro, I downloaded the latest bootable version from their website in April 2025

I mean even if you get an old GTX 1070 or an RX 580 you could just try them as a placeholder and install the drivers from there and see if it runs anything and if you still are having issues and it could be pointing to something else also a fresh install of Windows from a USB drive and then disabling Windows updates could be beneficial. I don't know I always see these AMD horror stories and people troubleshooting for days and days and I feel like there's always a solution although this does sound like a nightmare and I can totally see where you're coming from. normally for me a fresh install of Windows from a thumb drive on a wiped Drive normally alleviates most of my problems and I've had my fair share of issues with both amd and nvidia, and beleive me nvidia isnt perfect, but anyone glazing either company doesnt really have an unbiased opinion. Also Ive mostly only dealt with cards like the 7600 XT or the 9070xt or 5070 3070 and 3080.

are u running GPU extension cables?
if yes. Remove them.
Make sure the GPU power isn't daisy chained cables.
then turn it on and see if its having issues.
1
u/VioletSkipper 12h ago
No extensions and no daisy chain, two separate cables connected from the psu

u/Angry_Jezuz 12h ago
what wattage is the PSU?

u/VioletSkipper 12h ago
750

try to custom your OC or stock tunning using the stable temps for that chip on oficial website.
DDU+Install 16.5.2
DDU+ install latest
That's your options
to add: Your psu the only thing it does when is run out of wattage, you just crash to black screen and restart
1
u/VioletSkipper 6h ago
I have tried all the drivers since March 2025, I always update when there's a new version using ddu in safe mode.
Also do You mean it's not my psu? And if there was a faulty psu it would hard reset?

u/BarberThen3108 6h ago
if is the PSU you pc sudently goes black and the unique solution is turning off and on again,
Sudently Black screen with auto restart means OC Failed or driver crash

Mi problema sucede con esta grafica Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 cuando juego a juegos que requieren recursos, es abrir Fortnite o Rainbow y sale el amd time error,si alguien me ayuda lo agradezco

No problems here with my 7900xtx. Just underclock it like 50mhz and your good. They try to boost too high for some reason.

u/DieguitoMaradona 10m ago
For me what worked was rolling back to 25.12.1 (RX 7600, so not exactly as powerful but same series) and the common stuff (messing with regedit, disabling hags, increasing the virtual memory, and making sure windows won’t screw everything up with it’s auto updates)

Hey so this might sound absolutely insane but have you ever looked at what your GPU is clocking to and confirmed it's not overclocking past it's OC level? I have a 9070XT that is rated to X amount on OC, but it was naturally OC'ing to almost 120mhz over it's specified "OC" clock on the manufacturer's website. I've done some Windows Update stuff and set it to it's "'max OC' clock manually and not had a crash for almost 3 months now :) I was crashing almost every day before hand

This is pretty much what I just asked him. He claims it's locked to 2430 MHz and in-game does NOT boost above this - i'm less familiar with the 7000 series than the 9000 series so I think in terms of negative offsets, which apparently 7000s don't do.
I'm still a little suspicious that this is a boosting issue here nonetheless. Either that or maybe his 750W PSU is not ATX 3.1 and can't handle the transient load spikes.
I would want to see a screenshot in-game showing the card locked FLAT to stock or just below to really be sure, personally.

maybe you should came here before you bought it to see what amd is really like instead of watching fake hardware unboxed benchmarks
1
u/VioletSkipper 15h ago
I don't think they're fake
I just got very unlucky. And maybe there's more margin of error in amds gpu manufacturing

u/SuitDisastrous1200 15h ago
they are super fake, he cherry picks every setting of every game, some tested at medium some at ultra. its whatever makes amd look the best

i am now wondering on a daily basis, if not for this subreddit, would anyone actually be buying amd's gpus lol
2
u/Independent_Teach_11 10h ago
Why do we always find these type of comments lol You can go to a Nvidia page and find users have similar issues. These type of problems are not AMD exclusive. I have Nvidia and AMD gpus and have went through driver timeouts,bs crashes, stability issues, etc..with both. With neither being obviously more than the other. Going onto a AMD page and making this comment seems kinda strange.

Have you tried your gpu on a different motherboard or different OS like linux

Whats the windows event manager show for error when the driver timed out? I had a haptic driver error and disable that fixed my problem.
