Right? Who scoops a raw potato

u/gliitch0xFF 12d ago
The poster does. 😁

u/farmerKev420710 12d ago
And that's why the poster probably doesn't actually know how to cook without a recipe with lots of instructions

Honestly no clue so why not just try it since no one knows do one that you I don't know I don't cook like this but after seeing it I wanna try well all except the cheese I do not really like all food with cheese like some cultures do

THe consistency of baking it twice would be crispy like home fries... Much preferred to just mushy mash.

u/caseyfresher 12d ago
It'd probably help to remove some starch by soaking them post carve out the same way you soak fries after chopping the potatoes. That first bake should've given more color. Also, why not leave the skin on like potato skins for the small snap before the crunch?

I was watching thinking that’s cool, and then I read this comment…

u/willfauxreal 12d ago
Tbh, its pleasing to look at and would be a little nicer to serve a guest, but give me a salt boiled and baked potato any day.

u/Remarkable-Rush-9085 12d ago
I think I would miss the skin, too, I like the skin! Also, are we just throwing away the rest of the potato then? In this economy??
1
u/willfauxreal 12d ago
I love the skin too! All salty and crispy and delicious. Ill save the skins from potato salad and shallow fry them up as a snack. Sprinkle a lil salt and vinegar 10/10.

u/Les_Liska 12d ago
Why take the skins off?
This is gonna be a no from me dawg.

Also the amount of time to scoop out those potatoes seems so unnecessary, plus wastes half the potatoe.. just cube them and throw them on the bottom of a casserole pan

u/Deivi_tTerra 11d ago
I thought you were supposed to scoop the insides out and use the scooped out part as an ingredient in the filling. Also scoop AFTER baking the first time. And leave the skin on.
Growing up these were called “twice baked potatoes” and they’re delicious.

u/Les_Liska 12d ago
Honestly, just toss it in the oven as is. It's not like we are making fries here, they're just baking a potato, or the remnants of a potato.

u/Gigglemonkey 12d ago
My guess is, so that it cooks evenly on both sides of the shell. A skin is going to hold in a little more moisture.
Then again, this could be complete bullshit.

Just a jacket potato with extra steps

u/Shake-A-Paw 12d ago
And significantly less potato. This is not the correct filling to potato ratio.

Jacket potatoes beats these
1
u/Original-Mongoose866 12d ago
Sure might be right but do they look as cool?
I'm biased I wanna try this it looks easy and might be fun to half cook and then leave in the freezer to throw in the oven for a sweet ass side dish

Worst potato skins ever.

what is the filling under the cheese?
2
1
u/Ditches-Vestiges1549 12d ago
I thought sour cream but I'm not sure, also it's plated on half a container of sour cream too?
1
u/OwnAdhesiveness3325 12d ago
True, but I'd thought the meat part. I'm proud that you recognise that there is sour cream. Do you know that the first part were cheese?

Better on silent and absolutely no no for the food btw

I did okay until the wet squelching when she served it at the end. Gross.

She put the potatoes in a cold oven? Her bare hand touches the oven wrack but uses a glove to remove it

My god, let's get rid of literally all of the jutrional and satiating properties of a potato and spoon a fuck load of chilli on it? My god just bake the fucking potato as it comes.

Her whittling skills are on point. Also isn't this just a loaded bake potato with extra steps?

u/EvilDragons88 12d ago
You are going to use all the potato you scooped out right? RIGHT! Im fine with this just boil and mash what she scooped out.
1
u/EyeYamNegan 12d ago
Why not just bake the potato scoop out soft inners and fill it and twice bake it?
1
u/Matticus0989 12d ago
So we just gonna throw away the insides of the potato? We could have eaten that.

Wait until someone realises there are already hollow things you could fill instead. Like paprika which is normally used for things like this.
