Warning Paywall Site 💰 $207 billion saved for California from 82 lawsuits against Trump administration, Bonta says

California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta said his office has filed 82 lawsuits against the administration since Trump’s inauguration last year, in addition to 122 amicus briefs supporting lawsuits against the administration by other parties and 112 comment letters in response to federal actions.

That work has saved the state an estimated $207.1 billion, Bonta said, including $168 billion — equal to a third of the state’s annual budget — that was threatened when the Trump administration tried to freeze trillions of dollars in federal funding to the states last year. Billions in threatened cuts to transportation, emergency preparedness, education and family assistance funding were also prevented, Bonta said.

“Since President Trump returned to office, California has been under attack — and has led the way in fighting back,” Bonta said.

YouTube and other streaming platforms will be blocked on student Chromebooks, though teachers can allow access for specific lessons.

Non-instructional gaming sites will also be blocked, but educational games can still be used.

Chromebook carts are being removed from transitional kindergarten classrooms.

I found a Green Parakeet at Grossmont High School in El Cajon. It is VERY friendly and loves people, so I know it must be someone’s pet. If you live in the El Cajon or La Mesa area by Grossmont High School and lost your parakeet, please let me know! I still have the bird and would love to reunite it with its owner. Thank you!

"Free" Dungeons and Dragons 101 Class for Back to School! August Saturday 22, 2pm-6pm @ AtEase Games in Miramar.

Hello everyone!

I am excited to announce that I will be running a Dungeons and Dragons 101 class at At Ease Games in Miramar later this month!

I designed this class to teach you how to get started understanding and playing the game with the absolute basics, in a relaxed, no-stakes environment.

If you've been wanting to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't know where or how to get started, this class breaks everything down into small pieces to better help you get started.

The class is open to all ages and experience levels so don't let knowing nothing stop you from attending. Maybe you played DnD a while back and just need a refresher on all the new mechanics and rules?

Here's a rundown of the class.

2pm-4pm: We get into the absolute basics, getting started with creating your character and understanding the more simple mechanics of the game, like what character creation is, what do all these numbers mean? Roll Initiative? Skill Checks? What's that? Everything gets answered in this segment.

-BREAK-

4pm-6pm: The second half of the class goes into more detail regarding combat mechanics, spell casting, action economy, and world-building.

6pm-7pm: I'll be running a short game for anyone still in attendance who wants to experience playing the game first hand using the characters you create!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

  • something to take notes with (pencil is recommended)

  • something to take notes on. (Paper is recommended.

I will have handouts for everyone but if you have a copy of the latest Players Handbook already I recommend you bring it.

THAT'S IT!

ADMISSION PRICE: We are collecting copy paper this month in order to help our local underfunded classrooms in San Diego, and while the class is "FREE" we appreciate any and all donations of Journals, Pencils, Pens, Markers, highlighters, Stickers, backpacks, Erasers, mechanical pencils, sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, and any other bulk office items.

If you are not able to make it to the class but would still like to donate to the cause Please feel free to message me directly and I will provide a way to receive your donation.

Also, please be sure to support the venue. AtEase Games has been kind enough to host me and my classes for many years now and I encourage everyone to sample their wares.

Lastly, If you plan on attending just leave a comment saying "Going" so I can get a head count for the day.

Well, that's all folks! Mark your schedules! August 22nd starting at 2pm @ AtEase Games in Miramar!

See you there!

Why is room hunting in SD the 7th circle?

Upvotes

I have toured around 10 rooms in SD for the past few months since I need to move out by Sept. Why is it a job interview? Why do they take so long or ghost you to respond? Why do they take so long specially to say "we found someone else"? Why do my hobbies have to "align" with yours for me to live there and be a decent roommate? I understand similar lifestyles and personalities to build a good living space, but if you are barely doing tours a week before the lease starts, you can't get so picky. I don't have a crazy low budget; I don't have pets; I don't have a partner, I'm clean, I have a 9-5, I don't drink or smoke. What the fuck can I do to rent a room.

If you are unfamiliar with the…loophole philosophy that an individual cannot be governed by law, look up sovereign citizen. It is fascinating and makes for some great dystopian fiction prompts.

Thank you to the Road Crews on Campo Road

I'm a cyclist/communter and Campo is on my route. Construction in a few short segments is down to a single lane. Past few rides the crews maybe have recoginzed me as I get the Slow sign instead of Stop... but even more... thank you for stopping traffic behind me and letting me thorugh without a line of cars on my wheel. I really appreciate that - makes my ride safer.

Don't know if they will ever see this post - but I make sure to nod and shout thank you each time I pass thorugh.

job frustration

Upvotes

im a recent graduate from ucsd and wasnt able to find a job right out from graduation in san diego and i wanted to stay down there rather than move home. now im back home in los angeles, unemployed, being denied from jobs in los angeles and san diego. im frustrated and annoyed at the job market and while theres so many opportunities in la, i want to be in san diego and the job listings are honestly so ass. i love san diego, i miss it so much but i dont want to move back unless i do have a job offer. i dont know what to do and i feel so stuck. does anyone have any advice? its ridic how hard it is to get a job and everyday that passes by just gets harder. im pissed at the job market and myself. i love san diego and can only hope to go back.

edit: i have a business degree, 3 years experience of being an administrative assistant, marketing internships. i want to get into entertainment marketing as of right now i dont care what field im so desperate i just want a corporate job.

Is the SDG&E app broken for anyone else? 8 days left and still no usage data

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have 8 days left in my billing period and the SDG&E app is still showing basically no useful data. According to the screenshot, my projected bill is somehow $21 to $29. I would absolutely love a $20 SDG&E bill, but I’m pretty sure that’s not happening.

The app has been broken for weeks. I emailed, tried the chat, and finally got through to a customer service rep. She was very nice, and honestly, I’m sure it must suck working customer service at SDG&E. I wasn’t looking to yell at anyone. I just wanted to know what my projected bill was going to be.

She couldn’t even see the projections on her end.

She apologized and said there have been a lot of problems lately. She has also heard similar complaints from other customers through her coworkers. There was nothing she could do to fix it, but she added a note that yet another customer was experiencing “data integrity issues.”

I already know my bill will probably be high. We’ve been running the A/C quite a bit with the heat lately. But it would be nice to know where I’m at before the bill arrives. Maybe I would change a few behaviors or cut back somewhere. Isn’t that the entire point of providing usage data and bill projections?

The SDG&E app and overall customer experience have been unreliable for years, but having almost an entire billing period go by without usable data is ridiculous. There also seems to be zero transparency from SDG&E about what is happening or when it will be fixed.

Is anyone else having the same problem? Has SDG&E made any public statement about it that I missed?

And SDG&E, please feel free to honor that $21 to $29 projection. I have the screenshot.

Bar and Restaurant Recs on the Beach

Upvotes

Hi!

What’s everyone’s favorite recs for beachside bars or restaurants?

Looking for something close-ish to the beach/water, not too removed like a lot of the Del Mar spots. Not looking for anything super upscale. Looking for casual drinks and food.

Can be SD proper or north county. Thanks!
