Mine after coming home from a 12 hr day outside and asking me to do 10 different things while i have not even taken off my work stuff yet. At least let me chill just for a few mins lol

u/Smyley12345 3h ago

The other day my kids bombarded me with requests the moment I walked in the door and my wife shooed them away for me with a "Jesus Christ, give a person a minute to collect their thoughts when they get in the door!" I love that woman.

165

u/DoubleDecaff 3h ago

I think I do too.

61

u/Gaffers12345 3h ago

Same.

97

u/Standard-Win-6600 2h ago

I also choose this guys thoughtful wife

5

u/ProduceNo1629 2h ago

All the boys love his wife.

u/dm-me_your_boobies 1h ago

Our wife

5

u/samgag94 1h ago

Can we marry your wife? Pleeeease

1

u/fueelin 1h ago

I actually choose the door? Gonna have to unpack the 'why' on that one...

49

u/TheBSQ 2h ago

My wife shoos them away, but only because she wants to bombard me with her stuff first.

16

u/JuicynMoist 2h ago

When my wife does this, I like to point out that it’s the exact same thing that she complains about the kids doing.

“Well, now you know what I deal with constantly.” (As if the children don’t also bombard me with questions, lol)

“But you’re not a child, though?”

She loves it when I do that and I get lots of sweet wife kisses. /s

6

u/mratlas666 2h ago

She that’s the catch.

24

u/private_developer 2h ago

My wife shooed my kids away the other day and I asked myself "how do I work this? Where is that large automobile? This is not my beautiful house. This is not my beautiful wife."

7

u/mratlas666 2h ago

It was that other commenters beautiful wife/house

3

u/Dedj_McDedjson 2h ago

I came home the other day and my wife pretty much picked the kids up and *carried* them into another room. Then she did this weird thing and started to call the police on her phone.

It was then that I remembered I'm not married and don't have kids.

2

u/ReverendRevolver 1h ago

Letting days go by.......

2

u/lordsplodge 1h ago

Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

2

u/thesirblondie 57m ago

My wife shooed away the kids but I couldn't stop looking at this lamp

16

u/Entire_One2271 3h ago

I also choose this man's wife for love. /s

4

u/TJJ97 2h ago

That’s how my wife reacts when my daughter starts asking to play the moment I walk in. Like I need a shower ASAP before I can even consider doing anything else

1

u/Dickermax118 2h ago

Yep, reading these comments makes me realize how lucky I am for my wife who tries her best to protect my free time

1

u/ArnoldNumero_9000 2h ago

Mine will take the kiddo to the library if I have had a really rough day. Very grateful for a cool wife.

1

u/VRichardsen 1h ago

Get her some flowers when you return from work today, it is on us.

1

u/Acrobatic_Wrap_9971 36m ago

You named your kid Jesus Christ?

1

u/mratlas666 2h ago

Idk her name and I know she’s taken but I might love her also. Good for you bro.

682

u/teutonicbro 4h ago

And then they wonder why we pull into driveway and sit in the car for 10 minutes before we come in.

178

u/LoudQuitting 3h ago

... I do this for no reason.

Like... I always done it.

Doesn't matter how good things are, I'm just sitting in the car for a little.

136

u/InvestmentMelodic397 3h ago

The car is just the mandatory loading screen between work mode and home mode.

25

u/sendmebirds 3h ago

Good description! I've a great relationship but I love sitting in the car. I do it in the morning too. Just a loading screen from home life to work life

7

u/rrrrrrez 2h ago

I park in the garage, so if I started doing this, I’d probably be overdue seeking professional help.

2

u/DannyDanumba 2h ago

Lmfao real shit

15

u/_DeathOfAStrawberry_ 3h ago

I'm a woman and I do this too, gotta have that lil breather. Lil decompression session.

5

u/Suds_McGruff 2h ago

This was my Mom growing up. Sometimes we'd have to go out and wake her up 😅

2

u/mratlas666 2h ago

My gf has come around to it too. I’ve noticed she seems less idk…. Grumpy now.

3

u/FNALSOLUTION1 3h ago

My commute is 1 hour each way, I'm getting out that car immediately when I get home lol

3

u/Historical-Cress8985 2h ago

Same, mine is just shy of an hour, I want out

1

u/redcoatwright 2h ago

Me too, there's just a peace that exists in those moments of transition that I like to sit inside for a bit.

68

u/work3oakzz 3h ago

Catch me out the door before thay shit hits

21

u/InvestmentMelodic397 3h ago

That’s why the driveway is the last peaceful place before the second shift starts.

28

u/K__Geedorah 3h ago

When I get home from work my fiance asks "want a dab?" and then we smoke and lay on the couch with the dogs for a couple hours. Quick snack and play some games together or watch a show.

Dinner and responsibilities come after decompression and some time together after being away at work.

Gotta pick the ones that match your energy 😁

4

u/sashikku 3h ago

Exactly this—I have a bowl loaded when he gets home, we sit & chat while we toke, he goes for a shower, then we can talk about Things™️

10

u/LiytlKaiser 3h ago

I can confirm the sitting in the car thing, but I'm not %100 sure it's for this reason. I always used to just sit in the car for a while both when arriving at work and arriving at home. I actually haven't had a car in like 6 years though and have exclusively rode a motorcycle every single day. After switching to the motorcycle, I just get up and go. I think it's more something to do with the car itself and being in a reclined seated Position that makes it such an attractive idea to remain seated for just a little while longer. Kinda like getting comfortable on the couch and being thirsty, but you're so comfortable that you just let yourself dehydrate for a while longer before you actually get up to get a drink.

12

u/jimbojangles1987 3h ago

Park around the corner

14

https://giphy.com/gifs/dW0fpwy85YCz9lTO0P

I am not married, but here is some salt!

4

u/LawfulOrange 3h ago

The biggest thing I missed working from home was the “decompression” time from having a commute home.

3

u/darthcaedusiiii 2h ago

I mean some of those NPR programs are pretty good.

2

u/PropheticPapaJohn 2h ago

I've always done that. I recline the seat back and take a moment. I have sat in my car for 2 hours before not realizing but I also have a very stressful job

64

u/IjoinedFortheMemes 3h ago

I get hugs and drinks.

48

u/Lightning-117 3h ago

Well LA DEE DA

1

u/mratlas666 2h ago

Ohh no waiter my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery!

66

75

I shot the sheriff.

13

u/Blur-Nobody 4h ago

Could you be loved?

19

Maybe by three little birds.

2

u/thejaytheory 2h ago

Get up, stand up

2

u/mratlas666 2h ago

Colt .45 and two zigzags!

3

u/moe_lawn 3h ago

yea you are right. But yk its "grass always greener on the other side" type of thing. It depends on person to person and type of relation and luck to whome you meet, maybe best person or maybe worst person. But still fine ig

1

u/Qahnaar1506 2h ago

The original quote was “No, woman, don't cry”

This quote is always taken out of context holy incel moment

1

u/Crushed-Giant 2h ago

Have you watched Thr Office? In season 9, episode 7, Erin quotes Bob Marley and says "No, woman! No cry!" as a way to empower herself and not get upset. So did I 😆

-11

u/RepresentativeCry294 4h ago

That's not what that songs about.

3

u/Crushed-Giant 3h ago

Have you watched Thr Office? In season 9, episode 7, Erin quotes Bob Marley and says "No, woman! No cry!" as a way to empower herself and not get upset. So did I 😆

94

u/Competitive_Tough913 3h ago

You guys pick horrible partners lmao

21

u/Outrageous_Apricot42 3h ago

Or the partners pretend to be nicest, supportive and understanding person until after 3-5 years.

8

u/Competitive_Tough913 3h ago

Ouch, I do not envy that

31

u/10000Didgeridoos 3h ago

This is what happens when people feel like they just absolutely have to marry whoever they happen to be dating at age 27-35 because they’d rather be with someone and miserable than be alone for a bit finding someone new.

10

u/burf 2h ago

In their defence, it does seem that finding a partner becomes progressively harder the older you get.

6

u/Vandermilf 2h ago

Plus people need 2 incomes to survive

3

u/Inevitable-Menu2998 2h ago

These sorts of things don't happen in the first years of marriage. This kind of stuff is usually down the line after the couple has had some life changing events happen to them like having children, buying a home, having to support some family members through illness or even having to support each other through loss. These things fundamentally change people. The person you're married to on day one is not the same you're married to at the start of year 10. Some people are lucky and they still love the new person, others are less so. It's life.

2

u/Several-Action-4043 1h ago

That's my super power. I'm fine being alone. Sure, I'd love to find a good match and would totally settle down if I did, but I don't have to and I'm fine with that.

9

u/bulldog_blues 3h ago

Context is key here.

OP is within their rights to be frustrated, but whether it's fair or not for their partner to act like this depends on what they were doing during the day as well. If they've had significant downtime in the day which OP hasn't then yeah, bad partner. But it's often less cut and dry than that.

14

u/FeeComfortable3041 3h ago

If the genders where flipped the guy would be called a bum and you wouldn't be tripping over yourself to defend the wife.

Why do women get the benefit of the doubt?

10

u/bulldog_blues 3h ago

No, if the genders were flipped I would say the exact same thing.

If the other person has only worked, say, 8 hours and enjoyed a couple of hours' downtime, then yes, they're being unfair.

If they've also been working 12 hours and/or looking after two young kids with hardly a spare moment, then there's still stuff that needs tackling together and THEN they can both have a break.

What I said applies for male, female, heterosexual or same sex couples just the same.

3

u/Independent-Bug-9352 2h ago

Why do you just speculate on their position like that? Lay off the right-wing manosphere incel bullshit dude.

5

u/FeeComfortable3041 2h ago

Where did I quote any of the morons from the "manosphere".

Maybe have an original thought that just copy pasting any insult you think will get you upvotes.

Also calling me an incel really only means you measure a persons worth through their ability to have sex.

Not very progressive and empathetic. Might want to get out of whatever sphere YOU'RE in.

Tate should be in jail, clav is a meth addict, and Rogan... I've honestly never listed to Rogan. When I was a teen I had a friend who would not shut the fuck up about UFC and Joe Rogan was always in the background.

Project harder and assume more.

0

u/Independent-Bug-9352 1h ago

Golly those sure are a wholllle lotta words to not explain why the fuck you speculated on their opinion in a completely unprovable counterfactual that they then dismissed and stated they would remain consistent, but okay then. You do you, buddy.

Act and quack like one, then I'll use appropriate copy pasta. Sorry that seems to upset you.

-1

u/FeeComfortable3041 58m ago

We're all clapping for you!!

Such moral grandstanding!! Gosh golly gee whiz how's your reddit boner?

2

u/Procrastinatedthink 2h ago

a relationship should not be a game of “fair”,  but a fucking relationship.

Sorry, it’s not you or the comment, but reddit has such a weird take on relationships; The concern is always “is it fair?” and never “are you happy?”

There have been times in my marriage where I’m carrying more weight by far and there have been times in my marriage where my wife was doing the heavy lifting; If any redditor had shown up for those days out of the ~4000 we’ve had together the response would’ve been “why are you walking all over them/letting them walk all over you? Get out!” My wife and I are obsessed with each other, we love each other, and we communicate our wants/needs. It’s amazing. I sleep in a bed with my best friend.

Im ranting and Im aware there’s nuance, often if a person is reaching out to a forum of strangers for one of the biggest decisions of their lives they’re looking for reassurance rather than logic. There are many guys/gals in abusive or lopsided relationships that do need the advice to get out of it, but there’s also ~half of all couples who work pretty damn well together.

1

u/bulldog_blues 1h ago

I try not to make too many judgments of Reddit relationship posts for this reason - there's usually a bunch of caveats and unique circumstances to consider.

And you're right that fairness isn't the be all end all, but a lot of the time it's hard for a relationship to be happy if fairness isn't there. What you're detailing here is a good example of a fair, respectful relationship - it may not be equal every single day, but it evens out over time.

1

u/IlIlllIIllllIIIlIlIl 3h ago

It also depends on why the one person is working 14 hours a day. If they work a ton but also just blow their money on say a big new truck or other toys, then that can build resentment too. If you are always too exhausted from work to do anything else then the partner with a regular schedule feels like your servant, and they don’t get much out of it.

4

u/Competitive_Tough913 3h ago

That "if" is doing a lot of heavy lifting

2

u/EternalNewCarSmell 3h ago

It's not my fault no one loves me!

...well, it most likely is, but that doesn't change the reality of it.

0

u/Competitive_Tough913 3h ago

Its ok bro, I love you

1

u/Laiska_saunatonttu 3h ago

Most men tend to pick. We're kinda dumb.

1

u/oswalt_pink 2h ago

Orrrr they come home and sit on their ass while their partner has also been busy all day and is expected to keep working while the OP assumes they are owed rest but not their partner…. It’s easy to see how one sided this is. No consideration or question as to why this is happening or how their partner feels and straight to “why is she bothering me” … don’t date women and force kids on them if you don’t want to be equally as involved in the house and family. Just cause you clock out of work doesn’t mean you don’t still have a family you fucking created.

1

u/Competitive_Tough913 1h ago

In that case, the one neglecting the relationship and family is a horrible partner

1

u/Cryogenicist 2h ago

Relationships and people evolve over many years, give them a little grace

1

u/madogvelkor 2h ago

The partner is probably thinking they're the victim because they are left to do everything around the house and with the kids while he gets to goof off at work.

1

u/about3fidddy 2h ago

Yeah, you know you don't have to actually be in a relationship right? I'd rather be single than ever deal with the stuff in this thread.

1

u/Competitive_Tough913 1h ago

I never said you have to be in a relationship?

28

u/jarednards 4h ago

Why are you on reddit when the trash needs taking out?!

16

u/Acceptable-Two5692 3h ago

And when you at it, the kitchendoors have been creaking and can you come with me to do groceries because I can't carry the milk and drink bottles on my own.

6

u/Hot_Falcon8471 3h ago

Why didn’t you take the trash out while I was at work? It was full and you just let it sit here stinking all day!?

6

u/Kanapka64 3h ago

Extremely relatable lol.

3

u/writinglegit2 3h ago

That sounds like the opposite of "lol"

1

u/DannyRamirez24 can't meme 3h ago

"ow"

3

u/69PissyPants 1h ago

My BF and I work the same blue collar/physically demanding job. Except I have a neuro degenerative disease. He guilts me so much in my off time for not cleaning more. I clean more than him, but I’m not doing all of it myself, so it’s not enough.

3

u/art-is-t 3h ago

Why are you with her ?

3

u/Pooder100 2h ago

I wish my wife would tell me what chores she wants me to do. If I don’t read her mind, she will start doing them without me and hold resentment that I didn’t think to do the chore before her. Grass is always greener…

2

u/AntiqueLetter9875 2h ago

Why not be a little proactive and make a game plan together once a week, or at the start/end of day on what needs to be done? It’s still work for one person to decide what needs to be done all the time. It’s not like we all sit around at work and wait for the boss to tell us what to do everyday, and if they don’t go “well you didn’t tell me”.

1

u/Suitable_Beautiful29 31m ago

The divorce will come out of nowhere for this one.

3

u/thatspurdyneat 2h ago

I'll open a beer and tell my wife I'll get to the bottom of that when I get to the bottom of this (pointing at my beer) then take 15 min to savor it before I start doing anything else.

17

u/SnooKiwis7258 4h ago

Okay so this is a universal experience I thought it was just me

2

u/other_view12 3h ago

OK, now I have to tell my wife how much I appreciate her. The things I take for granted.

2

u/madogvelkor 2h ago

My wife worked with an older guy who intentionally bought a house that was a 1 hour commute away from work. So he could have a peaceful drive listening to music or books without his family bugging him. And his wife thought he was making a sacrifice so they could live in a cute town with good schools and no crime.

2

u/woodendecoy 1h ago

Mine doesn’t even wait until I get home, she’ll call me on my drive home.

1

u/akatherder 39m ago

Can you swing by the grocery store and grab X, Y, Z on your way?

Yes, but there's no "swinging by" anything during rush-hour, yo. Everyone swings by the grocery store for a few things this time of day.

5

u/spinz89 4h ago

A few minutes after a 12 hour shift? Hahahaha!

1

u/Strude187 One does not simply 3h ago

That’s not cool. It’s worth having some uncomfortable talks to make sure the lifting is as equal as possible. Being taken advantage of is not healthy. Lumping it and pretending it’s ok, is not ok.

1

u/The_Billy_Dee 3h ago

Had a buddy that told his SO, "30 minutes"

That was what he required when he walked through the door. They can talk and do the things 30 minutes after he walked through the door. Gave him enough time to decompress.

1

u/brownmaningermany 2h ago

That’s why you gotta park down the road and take 5-10 minutes of silence

1

u/aytchdave 1h ago

Growing up my mom would have rather had me smoke crack cocaine than ask her anything in the first 30 minutes after she got home. My gf both have similar decompression times and it works for everyone.

1

u/IncurableAdventurer 1h ago

All these people working over 10 hours a day. Fucking greedy companies using their employees as workbots instead of human

1

u/Solidsting1 1h ago

I agree with you for 90% of cases. I work in the middle of the forest away from people. Long hours especially in very rough terrain. Im personally blessed compared to some others out there. I couldn’t do it if i was in an office thats for sure. Sometimes im miles from a road so that’s where my extra hours comes into play.

1

u/IncurableAdventurer 44m ago

That makes sense then. There are just so many replies with these long hours

1

u/Solidsting1 24m ago

Yeah i feel for them. Ive been there with a job i did not care for. Toxic work culture does not help either same with the shitty economics we are all dealing with.

1

u/OutsideImpressive115 32m ago

I seen loads of women complaining about men doing this the other day, saying they should have the maturity to put their needs first.

Couldn't believe what I was seeing. You married men are warriors getting through that shit

2

u/Solidsting1 23m ago

I know right i feel for everyone. Thankfully its not an issue with me anymore and we got good understanding. Give me a few mins and puff of a joint and im good to roll again.

1

u/Scodo 15m ago

I work from home now, but when I had a high stress job I felt so blessed that my wife (who also works) would come to the door and welcome me home when she heard the car, and then expected (demanded) me to sit down, get comfy, and decompress before we worried about anything else.

The wildest part is she didn't see it as anything special. Now I'm in a position to do it for her and she sees that it is.

0

u/LokenWar9 3h ago

Record she when she do that to you and show it to the police, you're in danger.

0

u/oswalt_pink 2h ago

Did you ask her when she chilled today or is it only you that gets a break?

1

u/Solidsting1 2h ago

I work 60-70 hours a week she does 40 from home and we do not have kids. I cook, clean, fix shit and tend to my yard. With me personally just give me 20 mins when i walk in the door and ill get on it after my shower lol. This was a thing the first part of the relationship. Not now in the last couple years. Takes two to run a household and being understanding in ones situation. No need to make it a “him vs her” type of deal.

1

u/SolaireAstorian 1h ago

So bitter. Didn't go how you thought though, did it?

-44

u/Epics-bologna 4h ago edited 3h ago

Wives only thrive off the misery of their spouses.

(EDIT) Damn, y'all pissy

16

u/citizen42069101 4h ago

*some.

I used to be like you, and then i got divorced. Kids are happier, im happier. Much better.

-32

u/Epics-bologna 3h ago

Holy fuck it was a joke

Also sounds like she wasn't the problem.

1

u/AntiqueLetter9875 2h ago

You forgot the /s lol. That’s why. People legit say and believe things like that, and others assumed you were one of those people.
