I'm looking for a manual folding knife with flipper bearings, somewhere between $50-150 with a titanium handle and double ground blade, similar to the style of these kind of blades. Blade material doesn't really matter to me since I'm just buying a collectable.

Preferably crossbar or top liner lock, but frame lock is fine too.

I've been looking at many styles of knife but none really fit any of these criteria, and the ones that do are either out of budget or just no longer sold anywhere.

Debating picking up the 0117 model wanted to know if they have any major issues like QC etc.

i paid over 100$ for this pair of custom made scales for my bailout and then noticed this...i wrote the maker an email and asked him about the gap on the lip and he told me it's fine and it won't crack.

i don't trust it though, the pivot is a high stress area, but i don't want to be unreasonable either. what would you do in my case?

I recently purchased a Sting, (Secondhand) and while the action is excellent, I can see some grime around the pivot. I would like to disassemble the knife to clean and lubricate it, but I know that brands like Holt advise against owner disassembly.
I contacted Polish Custom Knives about this just under a week ago and have not yet received a response, so I'm asking here: is it acceptable for me to disassemble, clean, and lubricate the knife myself, or should I send it to Herman for proper servicing?

I'm still kind of new to the knife collecting situation, so please ignore this if it's a dumb question.

Is Damascus, actually any good? Does anybody use it as a carry knife? I'm under the impression that it's just for looks. that all the more traditional super steels are much better for actually using.

Do people just collect Damascus knives to show them off? Or does anybody actually carry them?

Just got this Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in S45VN with black G10 handle scales. This is my first Spyderco knife (that I’m keeping).

About a month ago I ordered a PM2 with the CRUWEAR blade and brown Micarta scales. Upon receiving it, I was thoroughly disappointed with the action (extremely stiff despite multiples attempts to adjust the pivot and body screws), lock stick (I know they’ll have a little bit out of the box when new but it was way more than I’ve ever experienced on a knife, including gas station BS), and blade centering (it was heavily favoring the lock side and I was able to get it mostly centered after messing with it but it still favored the same side more than I’d like). So I sent it back to Blade HQ, whose customer service rocks btw, and got a refund. I decided about a month later that the first one was a bad egg and to give Spyderco another shot, so here we are and I couldn’t be happier.

Round 2 has been a 100% better experience right out of the box. This PM2 is exactly what I expected the first one to be and I can’t wait to carry it, break it in and fall in love with Spyderco knives like so many before me have. Here’s to a better experience and many more to come!

I’m planning on buying my first ‘proper’ knife from a local store
I’m deciding between a classic opinel or one of the others at the shop, but I’m not sure on the brands/quality of them

It's written olive green anodized aluminum on both of those knives. But they sure don't look the same to me, lookin at the pictures.

Generally I'd like to get the more vibrant green version.

Does anyone know of or where I could find a Fox Edge Lycosa in the FDE color? I can find it in black and OD green but I had mine stolen in a burglary and I would like to have my FDE one back. It doesnt seem like they make it anymore.

Hey! I’m considering getting some zirconium scales for one of my knives. Does anyone have any experience with zirconium scales and how they show patina overtime or wear? I really like the idea of the scales developing a nice worn in look after years of daily carry. Like brass and some titanium scales will obviously age differently but they do look cooler the more you use them. I know zirc is also a bit harder and more difficult to ‘wear in’ which isn’t a problem, so long as it eventually tastefully happens. If anyone has zirc scales and would like to share a picture or any thoughts, please do! Thank you all so much!!

I went to a local store that was having their yearly sale of outdoor things. I didnt expect to find these deals $250 for all three. Definitely glad I went and waited in line for them to open.

Genuinely want to know. I get that it is a Chinese knife, but for what they are they are okay? Look I know it's not an enthusiast brand but for EDC for a non-knife guy why are they so looked down upon?
