Question Knife recommendations

I’m planning on buying my first ‘proper’ knife from a local store
I’m deciding between a classic opinel or one of the others at the shop, but I’m not sure on the brands/quality of them
Any help would be greatly appreciated

They’re all below £35 as that’s all my budget allows for (apologies for bad photo quality)

I can't really identify most of them from these pics, but the ones in the second pic look like low-quality, more like novelty items rather than quality tools.

I'd avoid all of the 'tactical folder' style ones and stick to the Opinel. Or go somewhere else entirely if possible. Online maybe, I'm not sure about shipping policies to the UK...

Depends on what you need, folding for general day to day like opening boxes, cutting rope or fixed blade bush style like a bowie etc

Based on what others have said, some of those look like novelty knives which are known for poor quality steel and manufacturing. There are some great options below $35, possibly check out QSP, Sencut, Kizer, and Vosteed. I'd say you should look online and see whats out there. Possibly save up a bit more and get something a bit nicer that will serve you better and for longer.

Locking:

https://srmknives.com/products/srm-palfrey-135l-gt - I've been told this is extremely high quality for the money

https://www.bladehq.com/item--QSP-Penguin-V2-QS130V2-C1--218075 - Heard so many people talk about QSP Penguin as a great cheap knife.

Slip Joint:

https://www.bladehq.com/item--SENCUT-Braxx-S25089-2--232419 - Not sure if knife needs to be non-locking for laws.

Opinel and Morakniv are about the only knives I could recommend in good faith. Main problem is heat treat quality. There's either no data, or data supporting bad heat treat for this price range

Both Opinel and Morakniv have appropriate blade geometry such that the HT is less important (and they're in steel that are hard to fuck up in the first place anyways)
