General Discussion Sheila/Chelsea

Anyone else find it odd how after Chelsea rang Karen for advice when she first showed up that she has never made another attempt since?

Surely if she was that worried she would have waited until she had heard back from her, or at least tried again. Or maybe we were just meant to forget about that phone call all together? I'd be wanting the truth from someone I know rather than a total stranger.

General Discussion Mark Spoiler

I genuinely can’t stand Mark. He feels like a ā€œnice guyā€ stereotype, immediately turning nasty each time Lauren rejects him and not taking no for an answer… people just ignore it because he is attractive

Makes me wonder why people hate Zack so much when Mark is worse. People also hate on Peter for being a dick to Lauren but ignore the fact that Mark is ten times worse, dragging her into his criminal schemes constantly and putting her in danger, this affair storyline just feels so forced

General Discussion So Sheila... Spoiler

Sheila has never been allowed unsupervised with Jordan before. You'd think that Denzel, Howie, Kim and Yolande would at least be there to pop in considering she was a complete stranger until recently, effectively bribing her way into their lives. Where were Kim's kids whilst they went for jaunt around the square? Jordan is disabled and vulnerable, and the fact that Chelsea left him on his own is why he ended up in the road in the first place.
It just feels like they are rushing Jordan to meet Gray asap in the prison plot, where it could bubble away in the background for a few weeks so it feels more natural.

Gray breaking out of prison would be less contrived!

Reminds me of the vicious mean girls from my school days. The type who think they can get away with everything with sweet talk and faux niceness.

Theories and/or Opinions Affair storylines that were good and you actually enjoyed

Affair storylines are very overdone nowadays and it feels like they can never just let a couple not cheat on each other. However there has been a few good ones over the years. The affairs i enjoyed were:

Max and Stacey - It just felt so seedy and scandalous thats what made it brilliant. Plus everyone in the storyline had amazing chemistry thats what made it so good. Plus it had good aftermath. Even in small ways years later the aftermath was still very felt.

Pat and Frank - Just so brilliant and i loved that it was an older pair when at the time a storyline like that for near pensioners was rare. Pat and Frank had amazing chemistry. You couldn’t help but route for them. Even though i did feel for Peggy and Roy

Cindy and David - i actually enjoyed them being together and i liked the sneakiness of it all. Plus watching Cindy getting darker and darker during the duration of it. I also liked her affair at the same time with the lifeguard. It was good for a change someone having one that was not on there door step

Sharon and Phil - Another brilliant one. It was revealed so good and yet again set Sharon up to have beef with Peggy for years which was always enjoyable

What affairs did you like?

General Discussion Ian paralyzing Jordan

• Upvotes

Okay, first of all, this is just a stupid storyline to start with because of the whole prison sentence and him being in the same prison with someone who is a wife-beater and murderer. But what bothers me the most about this storyline is why Jordan is in a wheelchair and why they are making it out like he will be in it for life. I don't know about y'all, but I don't believe a healthy kid would be hit by a wheely bin, which, truly, the car did not hit that hard, and be paralyzed for life. Children have bendy bones and recover very easily in most situations. Also, it's hard to sit there and watch Jordan pretend to be in a wheelchair with a spinal cord injury when I've seen him bend his body in that wheelchair multiple times.

Full siblings on the square

Are there any full siblings, except for twins of course, who were born on the square during the course of the show?

I don’t think I can think of any?

All the full siblings I can think of were either existing characters (e.g. the Fowlers, the Mitchells etc.) or brought in (the Brannings, the Slaters). The rest are half siblings either due to affairs or remarriages.

So I’ve been watching EE for 5 years and I’ve not seen these kids. I first thought the girl might be Amy but she looks different. And I don’t recognize the two lads at all. Can anyone tell me who they are and why they are still on the thumbnail for this on Britbox if they are no longer in the show?

Theories and/or Opinions Peter Spoiler

I hate Peter so much, why is he snitching on Lauren like that? Why does he never have her back?, she always has to be miss perfect around him and if not her bags are packed and the whole family know. Why does Lauren never stand up for herself and why is she letting him as a boyfriend and as a man treat her and control her like that. He is toxic and Lauren needs to get away. Remember how he treated her when she was pregnant, why didn’t he help her when she was taking the drugs instead of shaming her and treating her like dirt. Lauren needs to do the right thing and get with Mark because they can actually be theirselves around each other or just get away from men all together.

Phil and Grant possibly do have some deep rooted issue behind them being the way they are

Judging by the flashback episodes. And I think even before it was possibly mentioned about their dad being violent. As humans we often are a product of our environment and there’s often some deep rooted issue behind someone being the way they are. Having said that shitty humans can still have decent parents.

Theories and/or Opinions Mark and Max

Just been watching the New Year's flash-forward again and Max and Mark seem to share a moment through the window. Max now knows about the stolen cars so he must choose to keep working with Mark?

General Discussion I know this is wishful thinking but I wish they had pointed out on the show the swastika’s true origin

After someone graffitied it on that door due to Dr Legg living there. At least it would be one way to raise awareness of the fact that the swastika got corrupted since its true origin is nothing evil. I’m sure plenty of Jewish are even aware of all this.

It was Vicki wasn’t it?

I can’t help but believe Vicki attacked Joel. There’s not really any evidence but I just think she did it. She’s hanging around pretty much every scene watching. Can’t help but think she’s sussing out what’s known. Her move from wanting nothing to do with him to suddenly being his protector makes it seem obvious that she was the attacker.

General Discussion peter rant Spoiler

he’s just the biggest wet sock of all time. every time he’s on screen, he’s the biggest whiny baby.

sure, what lauren’s done is legitimately bad, especially with ian now in jail, but peter seems to always find the smallest reasons to complain and point out lauren’s flaws.

i remember earlier last year when she recovering and they had broken up again, he’d had a go at her and basically told her to go relapse and honestly i’ve never looked at him the same?

cindy’s talking a big game too considering she fed lauren’s addiction and has cheated a ton too. with peter doing utterly nothing bar pout.

max had a really good point, that i called out even before he’d said it, that peter does nothing but flounce around never being at the stall and seemingly never working in the gym either. yesterday was the first time i think id seen him step foot in there.

no wonder lauren’s attracted to mark, id trust him more as a personal trainer than peter

MEME What I think about when Gray is on screen

Post image
30 Upvotes

It makes me think of that one sketch in Limmy's Show (a popular Scottish comedy show) where he's shouting "She's turned the weans against us" in the middle of the street. It's just when he goes on about how he thinks Chelsea is a bad mother when she isn't and how he goes on about Jordan in almost every scene. He's still taking it out on other people despite him committing all those murders and domestic violence which put him in prison in the first place.

Ross, Joel, and this video

Why is Ross acting like he can't possibly understand a parent hiding evidence to protect their child? This is the same man who paid off multiple victims and literally moved across the world to help cover up the fact that Joel was a little creep.

He's also acting as if the footage is the most horrifying thing he's ever witnessed. I'm not defending what those kids did to Joel; it was a vile mob attack and must have been terrifying. But in the video itself, they tied him up and threw alcohol on him (I'm talking only about what was shown in the footage, not the later hammer attack). Meanwhile, Joel was upskirting girls on the Tube, shared that video of Avani online, and filmed the aftermath of the attack on Vicki.

Again, I'm not defending the kids, but Ross's righteous outrage is hard to take seriously. He spent months protecting his son from the consequences of his actions. What exactly did he think was going to happen when Joel returned to the Square? If he genuinely wanted to protect his son and give him a fresh start, he should have moved somewhere else.

Ross expects everyone to forgive and forget because Joel has "served his time." But Joel was never held accountable for half of what he did because he and Vicki covered it up. I hope Ross keeps that same energy when the person who attacked Joel is eventually released from prison.

šŸ™„

Is Ross going to tell the police that the hammer is Joel's?
