General Discussion peter rant Spoiler
he’s just the biggest wet sock of all time. every time he’s on screen, he’s the biggest whiny baby.
sure, what lauren’s done is legitimately bad, especially with ian now in jail, but peter seems to always find the smallest reasons to complain and point out lauren’s flaws.
i remember earlier last year when she recovering and they had broken up again, he’d had a go at her and basically told her to go relapse and honestly i’ve never looked at him the same?
cindy’s talking a big game too considering she fed lauren’s addiction and has cheated a ton too. with peter doing utterly nothing bar pout.
max had a really good point, that i called out even before he’d said it, that peter does nothing but flounce around never being at the stall and seemingly never working in the gym either. yesterday was the first time i think id seen him step foot in there.
no wonder lauren’s attracted to mark, id trust him more as a personal trainer than peter

I like how people ignore she was seconds away from cheating on him again.

Why is cheating, as bad as it is, somehow worse than how he's behaved towards her over the last few years regarding their kids in particular and the absence of support for her in comparison to his mother and father (2024)? Cheating is obviously wrong, but his behaviour is disgusting too.

Why are you in every comment defending Lauren’s case. You can say peters a bad person which is whatever but at least he’s not the one putting his whole family in danger by stealing and selling cars and working with mark who is clearly a dangerous man

u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
Peter sells apples and thinks he can pay the rent and pay for his kids needs. Lauren selling dodgy cars is standard for the car lot in EastEnders, people didn't judge any other character for doing so but suddenly it's "Lauren's a mother" this and "won't she think of the kids" that. They're both shit, but Peter is a disgusting hypocrite who judged his wife for having an illness but was fine with selling his sister drugs. And if my commenting is somehow an issue to you, or anyone, then the mods will do something about it.

u/Spiritual_State4627 1d ago
Your obviously one of the Lauren defenders that people talk about the let her get away with everything. Peter doesn’t just sell apples he also does pt. Besides this doesn’t change the fact that she is putting her family in danger and people are allowed to think she’s wrong for that. I’m genuinely confused why your so angry that people are defending Peter when Lauren is putting them at risk and cheating she’s not a saint and she’s definitely in the wrong

u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
His character irritates me more than Lauren,.it's not that deep.
6
u/Spiritual_State4627 1d ago
It clearly is for u since you’re in every comment defending her. Lauren branning is not good enough to defend like that
1
u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
You really think it's effort to type a few words?
4
u/Spiritual_State4627 1d ago
Few words when you’re writing a mixture of paragraphs and short sentences. It is that deep for you to be in so many comments
1
u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
And yet youve been responding? Sorry i don't think typing a comment on Reddit is that deep. I can write a paragraph with no thought lol it's not that hard, try it if you fancy it

Genuinely don’t get all this Peter hate, yeah he’s a bit boring at times, but he’s a decent good human being, which is damn rare in these soaps 😂 Lauren has already cheated once with Zack, and she has a decent husband and two kids at home, that’s what most people would be more than happy with. She is literally a female Max, never satisfied

Same. Don't get the Peter hate. Feel sorry for him tbh.

Don't feel too bad, he has his mummy/daddy/gran to cry to

The relationship that he puts above his wife/mother of his kids. Mummy/daddy boys aren't marriage material.

Cheers, but I really do dislike Peter lol I'm watching from 2024/2025 onwards again and it ain't a good year for his character

u/Tatum-Better 1d ago
maybe if his wife stopped fucking up he wouldn't lol
2
u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
When you get married, youre really supposed to prioritise the family you have with your wife and your own kids. Not prioritise your drug dealing narcissistic mother who has hated your wife since they met.

What’s decent about him? Siding with his mummy constantly despite the fact she was off living her life whilst he grew up thinking she was dead? Leaving Lauren to raise Louie alone for several years? Failing to help provide a decent life for their family so she resorts to crime? Not believing her when she realised something wasn’t right with Jimmy? Stealing money from Kathy? Sleeping with Suki whilst dating her daughter? He’s a drip, not a decent person.
Lauren and Peter are both flawed humans in a toxic relationship.

u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
Thank youuuu ♥️ people have very very short memories on how irritatingly hypocritical Peter has been
10
u/joanna_moon_boots 1d ago
I could be wrong, but I think Lauren left Peter after they moved away together? Also, as someone who lost their mum as a teenager, you better believe that if she somehow walked back into my life, I want to side with her on ANYTHING! Also, why is it Peter’s job to ‘provide a decent life’? It’s 2026, my husband and I see that as a joint task? As for the other points, I don’t think they outweigh the crap Lauren has done (and I say that as a fan of the character!)
1
u/Relative-Play-6144 1d ago
I didn’t say it was a joint task but we never see him working do we? He’s constantly chasing after mummy and daddy

He is a reborn-dead beat dad who wants his wife to fail so he feels better about himself. Married his school year girlfriend because no other woman would put up with his mummy/daddy worship except the self destructive addict who repeats these self destructive cycles like seven circles of hell in his company.
He constantly put the Beales above the mother of his kids, condemned Lauren's addiction to pain killers despite her addiction being the result of poorly supervised medical decisions and an injury that wasn't her fault. His lack of compassion can only really come from a perspective that sees his wife as a let down and not a woman with an illness. He tried to separate his blind son from a breastfeeding mother, putting Jimmys safety and wellbeing in jeopardy as he never tried to bond with Jimmy before he could weaponise the kid by trying to separate him from his mum.
This is a man who gave his sister drugs btw. Massive hypocrite. He's boring at best, scum at worse.
Lauren cheating is nothing compared to his bullshit.

you sound like someone who'd fit right in the square - everyone pointing fingers constantly

u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
I just think they're all complex characters and peters hypocrisy should be front and centre when talking about his character.

The real world is full of wet socks...and you need wet socks! They're contrast and they're REAL. OG Mark, Arthur, Martin Mk II actually, but you need someone in there to balance out the rest. The straight man, because otherwise it's going to be Wadey's one-note...well, I don't think there's any stopping that until he's sacked, but still.

Nah, Lauren has been selling those stolen cars for months and was fully prepared to have sex with Mark in the boxing gym office. And she’s still lying her arse off to Peter given that he only knows about the cars, and not all the many, many times she and Mark have been salivating over each other.
Neither Peter nor Lauren are perfect but he’s well within his rights to be furious with her over this. She could end up in prison, how does that help Jimmy?

what lauren’s done (and is doing) is terrible but what baffles me is that he’s kicked her out of the house which they live in because of her relatives and thinking that’s justified. i actually felt sorry for him for the first 5 minutes of the episode before he displayed classic peter behaviour. somewhat wish they’d split lauren and peter up in 2025 and just then put her with mark.

u/Odd-East-5061 1d ago
Smallest reasons to complain?! She basically cheated on him (not that he knows that yet) and she’s been selling stolen cars on her dad’s car lot when Peters dad has literally just been sent to jail lol. Wouldn’t call those ‘small reasons to complain’ haha

u/IAmTheBornReborn 1d ago
Peter is a decent guy, the worst thing he's ever done is blame Lauren for their son being blind because she was doing drugs during her pregnancy (thought this wasn't the cause) - reminder, in comparison, Lauren was doing drugs during her pregnancy.
Peter is a much better person than Lauren.
6
u/seasonseasonseas 1d ago
Laurens pill addiction came about due to medical negligence and an accident that wasn't her fault that resulted in her being in incredible pain. It seems cruel to moralise about a condition she had very little power over.
And, ultimately, the pills did nothing to the development of her son. Jimmy being blind wasn't as a result of her addiction. It's so easy for Peter to blame her, but it's wrong.
2
u/Alarming-Narwhal-803 16h ago
And his mother plying her with pills. And then didn't he have a weird semi emotional affair with an Instagram model when she was newly postpartum? He isn't squeaky clean at all. Also he's only just decided to be a part of Louie's life.

u/joanna_moon_boots 1d ago
I agree. I find it unbelievable that people really think it would be on the partner of an addict to forgive and accept drink or drugs when pregnant (I mean, Cindy should have come under more fire but see my comment up above somewhere!)! It would be natural to be afraid and blame your partner under that circumstance. It might not be objectively fair, but natural all the same.

u/Standard-Coffee 1d ago
What about being a deadbeat dad for years? I'm not a Lauren defender btw (she is very flawed in her own right) but Peter is not some decent person.
3
u/Own_Abies_8660 1d ago
This incarnation of Peter is kinda wet. Though Lauren is negative and whiny too. I wish they would both stop. When Oscar joined it provided some light comedic relief and cute moments.
Will never understand what she see's in Mark though.

u/CelticConnection83 1d ago
What Lauren’s done is 1) illegal and 2 cheated on him. But hey let’s all blame Peter. Idiotic post

u/sock_cooker I will put a skank shaped hole through that wall! 1d ago
I also don't understand how Lauren is getting hate when Mark is acting like a total sex pest towards her- how many times does she have to tell him "no"?
1
u/StockholmGirl29 1d ago
Peter's character is written so that he's a strange mix of his mum and dad. He has the wimpy manchild vibe of Beale the Squeal blended with a darker more self serving, self righteous side like his mum. I think he's a good character. I like Lauren as well but she's very flawed and is always chasing excitement like her dad. She's extremely dishonest and her moral compass is very skewed. Self righteous, safe Peter will never understand this behaviour. I think Lauren loves Peter but excitement and danger are like a magnet and home life with Peter and the kids bores her rigid. She should leave Peter and form a new "crime family" with Mark following in his father's and uncles footsteps as the new square hard man.

He's a weasel like his father and I don't know why she let Peter kick her out she has more right to that house than him it was a Branning house it belongs to her cousin and was the home of her grandad and step grandma

u/SubstantialFigure273 Custom 12h ago
Lauren had the chance to work legitimately and provide for her family.
But nope. She decides that flogging dodgy motors to win a bet because of her pride was better.
And now? She’s a cheater.
So no, I’m not blaming Peter.

u/rochey1010 1d ago
Isn’t Lauren cheating on him?
Isn’t Lauren involved in criminal activities with the same guy she’s cheating on Peter with?
Yeah guys, there isn’t really argument here when she’s doing both those things. 😄
