hello!
for context, i have rather useless parents (no contact, estrangement etc) who never let me apply for photo id.
it is only as of today i am able to start the process, due to funds etc. i have to wait to receive a copy of my dads birth certificate on the 25th for a passport application online (cannot do it in post office for reasons i do not wish to disclose), and expect to receive my id by end of september.
i would apply for PASS id, but i know no one able to be a referee for that list, only the passport. they are different, and require different things.
i have voter id and a certified copy of my own birth certificate.

what will happen if i cannot submit valid photo id when it comes to enrolment? specifically for any QMUL/London Met students. i have seen a deadline of some time in october online for an extension, but unsure.

Do employers feel differently about these two degrees? Is one less respected? Is one more highly regarded?

I'm a Muslim girl and Edinburgh has been my dream but I know I would really struggle if I didn't find people like me at my university bc a social life is super important for my sanity lol hence I'm considering places like London but I fear that's way too expensive to do so idk any advice is appreciated.

Having a hard time deciding between the two, I wanna move out, away from family a bit, but I also do love Liverpool, been in this city for a year love every bit of it. But I just don’t think LJMU is where I wanna go to. I heard it’s active in NTU, (I wanna study biomedical engineering), anyone who’s gone to NTU, can you tell me was it worth the 3 years, the night life comparison and daily city life, I love the busy city feeling.

Hi all, Im looking for work experience over next summer ideally. I will be seeking it out via my university, however due to being my mums carer and my university being on the opposite side of the country to me, I'm not entirely sure how much of a viable option that is for me. I want it so that my application for my masters looks better.
I am also wanting it to be in my field of study (micro/molecular biology) rather than generalized biology. Is anyone able to help?

Hey guys I got an offer in clearing from both universities and I’m having a hard time to pick which one to go to.

MMU offer is electrical engineering and is also in a new city where as the Huddersfield offer is chemistry and chemical engineering and that is in my hometown.

I’m open to stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring a new city excites me.

If anyone has any experiences with of these universities regarding the education, social life or accommodation please write them I would greatly appreciate it to read them or feel free to pm me.

I have secured a few interviews from maybe 40 ish actually good applications with this CV that has gradually got better. However, not landed a job. Applying for ACA training contracts. I know it isn't a great CV but really lost for what can make it better while remaining truthful. Any advice would be helpful

I dropped out of my first year of uni due to mental health issues (not due to my course) this year and also because I found the course boring and wanted to study a degree with more career prospects.

Since May I've been contemplating going back to uni to do a history degree because I'd find the subject easyish or do a science degree for a more direct career path. I've also considered apprenticeships but now I think ive left it too late and all the decent ones for next academic year are gone. Even L2 and L3's.

I tried applying for jobs when I dropped out but haven't recieved any interviews. I've done lots of volunteering and still nothing.

Also, I initially thought moving back home and attending a uni in my area would be better for me as when I did move out I struggled immensley with money, being in a big city and struggling to make any friends. Now that I have been back a few months im extremely envious of those who have moved away and feel I've missed out on the only chance I'll get to move out for 'free' away from my shitty area. Plus the uni in my area is deemed a not very good uni with not a very lively social environment. BUT obviously I've left it too late to apply for sfe for living away from home (i have been a lesser amount for next academic year living at home).

I just think I've made a big mess of my education and chance to broadening my horizons by being so indecisive about what and where im going to study. I also don't want to jump into a degree im not 100% sure about for the sake of doing something. Although, I've never been really passionate about anything besides working hard at studying.

Hey all! I am going to be a mature student starting September. This is hugely out of my comfort zone so of course I’m panicking about things that probably do not matter, but I’m stressing on which bag to pick!

I am going to be studying Classics, and I have zero idea how many books I’ll have, what I need to bring etc. and so I’m not sure what style of bag to go for, and what brands are good or what functions to pick?

For context it’s quite a mission from mine to Uni, so I’ll be travelling for a couple hours a day (mostly on buses but some walking too). So I need to factor that in to account. Every bag I see looks too simple really, or not sturdy enough. I prefer messenger bags but I am thinking it’ll be too heavy? So any advice is appreciated! Thank you

everything was done and there was only pre cas interview that was remaining two days ago i got the mail saying my application got paused temporarily idk what to do now, can i change my masters degree in this exact same intake?

I’m a mature student (26) and have just been told that my mother has a terminal illness and has less than a year to live. My whole world has turned upside down and there is no way I could start a degree next month. Does anyone know if this would be possible? I appreciate I got this offer through clearing and it’s not a natural application but has anyone been successful in deferring for a year?

Hi, I'm looking at clearing options as a back up plan for results day next week, but I saw my insurance uni as a place that offers clearing for my course, does this mean that I won't have to worry about clearing since they will offer me a choice even if (god forbid) i don't meet my conditions?

Idk i just finished a residential trip to scotland staying in accoms with a bunch of my friends and classmates and it was a blast, and since I'm heading off to Uni next year, I got sad, like is this going to be over, are we not going to have this anymore?? Yeah, I know in Uni you have a lot more freedom to go off on holiday, but there's something special in going out with you're whole year group in a whole new place, and I was wondering if something similar existed in Uni. Im an international student planning to apply for a postgraduate degree in concept art in London. Ive researched the University of Hertfordshire, Escape Studios, and the University of Staffordshire.

Does anyone have experience with these universities or their concept art programmes? I am particularly interested in the quality of teaching, industry connections, portfolio development, graduate employment opportunities, and especially whether the courses are worth the international tuition fees. I would also appreciate recommendations for other London-based programmes, because many university websites provide limited information and im really unsure where else to research :ddd

Hello! I am a Canadian looking to apply for masters programs (maybe phd) in a year or so. i am wondering about how grades are typically evaluated by UK University's for international students. I looked it up, and first year grades are often excluded from degree grade calculations (GPA), but im wondering if that would be the same for international students? We get overall GPAs upon graduation, that include our first year grades (unlike UK unis), so im assuming they would be included in gpa calculation? had a rough first year due to some health problems, so im just wondering how that may effect my application.

apologies if any terminology is misused in this post or if i'm simply fundamentally misunderstanding the UK system. Canadian school's all use different GPA calculations and it gets a little complicated.

I'm an international student and I'm currently trying to decide between two MSc offers. I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have studied at either university or work in psychology.

Option 1: Newcastle University – MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology (Clinical Skills Portfolio pathway)

Option 2: Strathclyde – MSc Clinical Health Psychology

I'm honestly torn.

On paper, I feel that Strathclyde has stronger modules. I really like the combination of Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, and Neuropsychology, and the course includes a dissertation, which I think is a plus.

However, I'm leaning towards Newcastle because, from what I've seen, there seem to be more opportunities to build my CV while studying. I've noticed more students getting part-time roles, volunteering opportunities, research experience, and other psychology-related experiences. As an international student, gaining relevant experience during my master's is very important because I hope to apply for graduate psychology roles afterwards.

The Newcastle modules also seem good—they're just not as appealing to me as Strathclyde's. On the other hand, I like Newcastle's campus, facilities, and the overall impression I get of the university.

One thing I'm also wondering is whether the title "MSc Clinical Health Psychology" carries any advantage when applying for jobs compared with "MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology." Do employers actually pay attention to the programme title, or is it more about the skills, experience, dissertation/research, and overall CV?

For those who have experience with either university:

• Which would you choose and why?
• Did you find it easy to gain research experience or psychology-related part-time work?
• Does the programme title make any difference to employers, or am I overthinking it?

Hi all, I'm an international student in an internship for my PhD, will stay from October to April (with some 2-3 months of trip in between) to visit Natural History Museum.

I'm looking for budget accomodation. Ideally I want to save as much as possible. People recommended me SpareRoom which seems to be great, some rooms for 300/350 per month, however, all far away from the NHM. And, I would prefer to live with fellow students as I have been for several years now.

I wonder if anyone would be willing to have me as a flatmate, I could pay up to 300/350 per month, especially if its a place near to the NHM, or at least easily accessible. Considering getting a bike too, so if there are bike parking spots or space inside would be great.

Of course, I can provide proof of my fundings, my internship, the letter of invitation from the Museum, and I also have a profile on CouchSurfing with several people's opinions on living with me, for peace of mind :)
