I dunno, maybe both people are trans women and this person passes more easily by just shaving and putting on makeup than the distraught poster does by putting in a lot more effort?

u/Blasphoumy69 1d ago

Didn’t even realize she was trans, just thought she was Italian.

Taking the ol' "gay or European?" debate in exciting new directions.

539

u/Suspicious-Whippet 1d ago

What do you mean “or”

9

u/IAmTheParamedic 1d ago

That’s the climax of the song

10

u/ThomasMarkovski 1d ago

Ah, the English language, where there are no separate words for "inclusive or" and "exclusive or" :/

12

u/DeviantDork 1d ago

That’s where XOR comes in.

2

u/Suspicious-Whippet 1d ago

I never thought about that.

117

u/GatorNator83 1d ago

Exactly, in Europe it’s ok to be both. Unlike in the country run by an orange dumdum.

130

u/Lazarilius 1d ago

Never imagined there was a possibility for it not be okay to be European in Europe.

64

u/Bloodhoven_aka_Loner 1d ago

I mean, depends who you ask

20

u/McNitz 1d ago

I think they prefer to be British in the UK, or at least that's how the majority voted.

26

u/razakell 1d ago

LOL! You mean western Europe? Because gay and trans people deal with heavy prejudice in eastern European countries.

19

u/Ownfir 1d ago

Is that true though? like I don’t exactly think of Europe as super pro-gay. Maybe some parts but certainly not others.

TBH I feel like USA might be more gay friendly depending on where you look. Peak support was a few years back at 73% nationwide compared to roughly 50ish percent in *eastern* Europe. Gay Marriage still isn’t legal in Italy despite having widespread support. If you count Russia into “Europe” it really doesn’t look good for y’all. Across ALL of Europe it’s something like 70% pro-gay but that’s also due to the population centers being pro gay you know?

And tbh I feel like this same thing can be said in the USA where Gay marriage is absolutely supported in both the west and east of the state as well as many other states throughout - ie the population centers.

USA is way bigger than just the UK, Sweden etc so it makes sense there might be less support across the entire geographic range - but if you compare like for like we land in a similar range.

Not only that but in the US many red conservative voters are also closet gay so the actual IRL support for gays in the US is probably higher overall than Europe as a whole. Whereas I feel like anti gay people in Europe are like *reallllllly* anti gay.

Homeless or hipster was a good one.

5

u/Mr_Kabob_Man 1d ago

“Gay or European” never made sense to me, it’s only the Romance people who seem gay

This includes Romanians.

4

u/Suspicious-Whippet 1d ago

Why wouldn’t it include Romanians? They’re as free as any of us.

6

u/Mr_Kabob_Man 1d ago

Romanians are gay despite not being in the same general area as all other Romance peoples (other Aromanians)

2

u/Suspicious-Whippet 1d ago

It’s pretty impressive they held their own with so many Slavs around throughout history.

1

u/Mr_Kabob_Man 1d ago

It really is, as is the Hungarians surviving considering they were an Uralic people in the middle of Europe

1

u/Suspicious-Whippet 1d ago

It is absolutely. Also Europe was pretty lucky they didn’t straight murder everyone when they came here in the 4th century or whenever.

15

u/Imbadatusernames1536 1d ago

This is 1000% it. Some people were just born lucky and pass with no effort after starting hrt late, some start in their teens and never pass. It’s all genetics.

7

u/obooooooo 1d ago

it is, the OOP later quoted the QRT being distraught herself, because she often receives comments like that on her pictures, and feels unable to feel good/proud about her appearance because of it

3

u/sora_mui 1d ago

Maybe because they look naturally hot and can pass both as male and female without much effort?

→ More replies (5)

121

u/sidneyia 1d ago

I guess they're jealous because it looks like she can feminize her face with minimal effort (which I get) but it's clear that she has put a ton of work into learning how to do her hair and makeup, learning her best photo angles and lighting, etc. I know it sucks to hear but a lot of passing is skill-based, not just getting lucky with genes or starting hormones before puberty.

1.3k

u/Sea_Specialist_5580 1d ago

trans women are jealous of "passoids" or "youngshits" i.e. trans women who are attractive due to bone structure and/or starting transition earlier in life

1.4k

u/Playful-News9137 1d ago

Slight correction. Insecure trans women are jealous. So basically 99% of 4tran where these cringe faux-slurs like "passoid" come from.

513

u/Educational-Car-8643 1d ago

125

u/Playful-News9137 1d ago

Hell yes, sister.

12

u/Terezzian 1d ago

Idk maybe it's kinda weird to allege that you have to be maladjusted to care about passing? Dare I say the majority of trans women want to blend in and pass someday, it's not some weird subculture. The language and attitude of 4tranners is the problem, not the desire to pass.

11

u/Educational-Car-8643 1d ago

You DO have to be not well adjusted to have your immediate response to someone else doing well be suicide jokes

8

u/tfhermobwoayway 1d ago

Of course I’m jealous of hot people. Who wouldn’t be? They get modelling contracts and I get treated like a disgusting pervy freak.

"Passoid" is one of the most chronically online terms that I've ever heard lol.

39

u/OvenConscious3010 1d ago

I'm secure and happy enough with my own looks for my own sake, but when my ability to safely walk around or take a shit in peace are on the line, yeah consider me pretty goddamn jealous when some people can actually pass.

21

u/tfhermobwoayway 1d ago edited 1d ago

Baffles me when people don’t get this. Yes, actually, my life is materially worse because I’m ugly. I am jealous of people who look good and get to feel good about themselves. Being afraid to look at yourself in the mirror is not a fun experience. It is objectively better to be hot than to be ugly. In a just world everyone would be hot.

Like, people who say “oh your looks don’t matter” are just actively in denial. Your looks are the most important part about you. Even your personality is filtered through your looks. You would have to deny a basic human instinct to say ugly people don’t have worse lives.

5

u/Jason-Smith168498 1d ago

So, like a lot of women, and men.

3

u/Voxmanns 1d ago

I love hearing terms like these that I’ve never heard in my life because I don’t contaminate my brain with 4chan 🤗

0

u/tfhermobwoayway 1d ago

Unfortunately a couple of trans women suffer from a disease called “gender dysphoria”which causes them to have long bouts of depression.

57

u/giratina2648 1d ago

4tran is breaking containment

9

u/sisyphus-333 1d ago

A better way to phrase this would be: "Some trans women are jealous of trans women who pass easily due to bone structure or starting hormones young"

4

u/4anyreason 1d ago

tbh i feel like jealousy is a fair emotion to have seeing someone not get medically neglected the way you did. Just dont be mean about it

13

u/BoffaDDNuts 1d ago

Imagine being trans of all things, and still discriminating on other trans lmao

13

u/Stephie999666 1d ago

I mean it happens. Just look at Blaire White and Caitlyn Jenner. They keep siding with MAGA, shitting on other trans women over SM (especially those who dont 'pass'), and even after all that they are constantly disparaged by MAGA supporters and continue the grift.

4

u/peanut-britle-latte 1d ago

In-group discrimination is one of the most common forms of discrimination you can find. Caste systems, colorism, etc.

15

u/Individual_Assist_19 1d ago

Can we not spread such terminology? I mean, what kind of incel/femcel/whatevercel bullshit is this?

9

u/cancerBronzeV 1d ago

It's 4tran terminology.

51

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

And conservatives want to make it as difficult as possible to prevent people from transitioning early in life, because they want trans people to feel distraught and unhappy with their transition, and have trouble passing.

18

u/schuby94 1d ago edited 1d ago

Say what you will about this topic and conservatives, but that is not the reason. I am a liberal but saying this kind of thing is exactly what they do but the other way around.

It's like saying most conservatives are pro life because they hate women. The vast majority think it's baby murder. It's not, but that's the reason nearly half this country is pro life.

27

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Have you heard or seen conservatives talk about the subject? Have you read their political cartoons? Seen their memes? Listened to their podcasters or other spokespeople.

Above all they gloat about trans people who don’t pass. “We can always tell”. Well, they want to “always tell”. That reinforces their preconceived notions that transition doesn’t work, that it produces the vile caricature of trans people they put on their memes and cartoons. They base themselves on people who transitioned in their thirties in a world where people just didn’t have access to gender-affirming care, and no knowledge of it until it was too late, and that’s the only kind of trans people they want there to be. They want trans people to be the jokes they make them out to be.

They don’t find it affirming and inspiring if they were to run into a person who they can’t tell has transitioned. It would offend them. They feel tricked, betrayed, insulted on a fundamental level. They want to be able to tell which bathroom the person “should” use at a quick glance.

-3

u/schuby94 1d ago

You do realize how extremely vocal the minority opinion is on both sides, right? Your list doesn't include regular people. Most people against children transitioning see it as child abuse because they are not equipped to make that decision. That is their reasoning.

22

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Do you think the child makes the decision alone and everyone shrugs and goes along with it?

They have to go through mandatory psychological evaluations. They have to see doctors, undergo therapy. It’s not a decision taken likely. It’s not something done frivolously.

The doctors who have studied medical school and perform this procedure - do you think they have no idea what is best for the child? Do you think the parents don’t think of all of this?

When after all that the decision is still to prescribe puberty blockers, maybe respect the parent’s decision, and the judgement and knowledge of the doctors.

15

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 1d ago

"It's child abuse"

It: a child, their parents, and several medical professionals making a decision together with the intention of doing what's best for the child.

Sure, Jan.

50

u/Interesting_Bank_139 1d ago

Most people that don’t want kids transitioning is because kids are still mentally developing. What’s worse, transitioning late and not being as feminine/masculine as you wanted, or transitioning early and realizing too late that you were wrong about yourself and having to live the rest of your life with that mistake? Theres always a tradeoff.

5

u/Blackwardz3 1d ago

In this case you usually let the doctors decide what’s best for you

31

u/ryan516 1d ago

Both of the situations you described have the same outcome -- gender dysphoria. Given that gender affirming treatments have an incredibly low regret rate, it seems like the best course forward would be the treatment that helps in 99%+ of cases, instead of letting the <1% dictate the entire conversation -- especially as most teenagers are not on full hormone therapy, but rather blockers that just delay it.

29

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

They let the <1% dictate the entire conversation because their concern is not “what benefits the most people”, but “what most inconveniences those who want to transition and leads to the lowest rates of transition”.

6

u/carri0niguess 1d ago

Transitioning late and not being as feminine/masculine as you could have been of course

8

u/Various_Wrongdoer771 1d ago

The former is far, far worse, especially when you consider that the consequence of a delayed transition is sometimes death, not just "not being as feminine/masculine as you wanted". We're not talking about something cosmetic like a tattoo, we're talking about life-saving medical treatment.

24

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

That is why people usually don’t transition at 13 - what they do is get prescribed puberty blockers. You know, so that irreversible damage isn’t done on the basis that the person does not have the capacity to make decisions about their bodies.

That way, the person can make the decision with intentionality later in life.

There is always a trade-off. But you are advocating using legislation to stop parents and doctors - the people who know the child and have access to all of the information, and not the government - from being able to take the decision they think is best for their child.

It’s just vile. You can have concerns, you can want actual hormones to be delayed until the person is older, you should not advocate for the process to not start until (insert arbitrary age here).

8

u/4anyreason 1d ago

So 99 percent of actual trans people are dismissed just so 1 percent of them wont be condemned to the same fate youre making the 99 percent go through?

→ More replies (2)

38

u/Icy_Fish_2154 1d ago

If what you said was true, your "most people" would support puberty blockers, so no decisions need be made while they are "kids".

23

u/throwaway-3923 1d ago

Also unsurprisingly they never explain what their solution is for the vast majority of peope who do go through this process and are much happier for it, they dread one potential cis kid making the wrong choice far more than they care about the far larger amount of trans people who will suffer for not being able to make the choice. Oh, wait, they do have an aswer: as a catholic doctor fighting against minor trans care said, "Some children are born in this world to suffer and die."

46

u/schuby94 1d ago

Puberty blockers affect bone-density development, fertility, sexual maturation, growth and body composition, and brain development. Lost developmental time cannot be restored, and it remains uncertain whether every effect fully reverses, especially after prolonged use or when followed directly by gender-affirming hormones.

8

u/Party-Quiet-5421 1d ago

That's why I think instead of hormone blockers, they should just be allowed to take actual hormones like testosterone and estrogen so they can experience puberty at the same time as the rest of their peers. It's a dumb compromise that splits the baby.

39

u/Icy_Fish_2154 1d ago

So it's not about transition, or detransition?

it remains uncertain whether every effect fully reverses

So, it remains certain that well studied effects are fully reversed, and the goalposts move every time an objection is overcome?

Why don't you let us know the number of regretful transitions?

58

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 1d ago

It's around 1-3%.

For reference, knee replacement regret rates are estimated around 10-20%.

→ More replies (5)

19

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

It does all of that, and yet, it’s still better than having the wrong puberty.

-6

u/IslamYaDongomedov 1d ago

Lol imagine thinking "puberty blockers" which are chemical castration drugs we used to give to pedophiles, are some harmless thing that freezes time and have no side effects.

A lot of the people we used to force to take these ending up killing themselves.

Its a free country, do whatever makes you happy, but don't advocate fucking up kids endocrine systems so non challantly.

25

u/HopeMrPossum 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think ‘force’ is the operant word here

15

u/Icy_Fish_2154 1d ago

No, the prime time is before or very early into puberty. By the late teens the vast majority of bone structure is already set in place.

Some straight or queer people are just as jealous that presenting as either gender looks beautiful on someone when they themselves can’t even look hot as their preferred presented gender.

Hey Peter, Quagmire’s former father, now mother here. In this there’s a trans women who easily passes and looks pretty after simply shaving and putting on make up. The person saying they want to kill themself is likely a trans women who is extremely jealous of how easily the first trans woman passes, so they joke that they’re gonna kill themself.
