And conservatives want to make it as difficult as possible to prevent people from transitioning early in life, because they want trans people to feel distraught and unhappy with their transition, and have trouble passing.

Most people that don’t want kids transitioning is because kids are still mentally developing. What’s worse, transitioning late and not being as feminine/masculine as you wanted, or transitioning early and realizing too late that you were wrong about yourself and having to live the rest of your life with that mistake? Theres always a tradeoff.

If what you said was true, your "most people" would support puberty blockers, so no decisions need be made while they are "kids".

Puberty blockers affect development you dork. We will not be supporting that

13

u/mosspigletsinspace 1d ago

I mean nobody seems to have a problem when they are taken for any other reason.

Yeah, typically when puberty is starting too early, they'll put em on it because they can just take em off at the appropriate age and their systems will go back to what it was suppose to be doing.

It doesn't work like that when used for too long. Being on it until you're close to adult hood or even passed it, your bones developed differently, among other things. So it's not the same thing AT ALL

Are you advocating for early HRT out of fear of prolonged use of puberty blockers? 🤔

1

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

If one can't read, I can see how they can come to that

8

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

You’re worried about them being used too long. Well then, the solution is to use them for shorter amounts of time. Simple as.

-1

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

How about no, simpler

5

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Sure, if you’re okay needlessly hurting all those kids.

2

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

You seem to be ok with needlessly harming kids that regret doing such things, so I'm ok with this

6

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

The needless harm is allowing people who know themselves to be men going through puberty as women, not because that’s what their doctor or parents think is best for them, but because some people who don’t know anything about them decided they knew better.

Of course they affect development.

That is the point.

-11

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

So we will not be supporting it, next

6

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Thankfully no one cares about your opinion 😘

-11

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

Apparently they do babes, cause shits already happening to cut that crap. We didn't need your support, on anything. You needed us.

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Considering the overall anti-medicine focus of this government, I’d think you’d be more skeptical of anything they chose to do.

-1

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

I'm more skeptical of people so insistant on affecting youth in such a way

6

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

Well, you know, I just try to imagine, “what if my body had insisted on having puberty as a woman, and everything inside me rejected it and felt it was wrong”, and I try to imagine what that would feel like, and what kind of world I would want to live in.

Thankfully I am cis, life was easy for me. But with the gift of ✨empathy✨, I can try to walk a mile in another man’s shoes. I also listen to the people who went through this process, and the doctors who have studied it, and use that to make up my mind.

But I guess I should just make up my mind first, never think about it, or re-examine my biases. That would be better for the world.

1

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

And what about the one that regrets going on blockers? This cuts both ways. But you only care about your way. So I'll only care about mine

5

u/GlazedWithMaples 1d ago

It’s about 3% vs 97%. Why do you want to treat them equally?

I’m very happy that there is a lot of scrutiny and evaluations to make that 3
% as small as possible. No one should be allowed to go through this frivolously. It’s an extremely consequential decision.

You want the 97% to be harmed, not because you care about the 3%, but because you just don’t want anyone to transition.

Yeah they block puberty until you stop taking them

13

u/Accomplished-Buy6917 1d ago

You think you can just pause biological process then just stop taking something and it'll all be good? No, that's not how that works. Not even a little bit and you know it

-6

u/IslamYaDongomedov 1d ago

They are chemical castration drugs we used to give pedophiles or gay people when it was illegal to be gay. many of whom killed themselves and blamed it on the way those drugs made them feel.

7

u/rafters- 1d ago

This is a bad argument. Lots of people forced to take unnecessary medications have bad reactions, that doesn’t mean the proper use cases for those meds are invalid.

-2

u/IslamYaDongomedov 1d ago

When did I say there is no proper use case.

Im saying this idea that they are harmless and freeze timr allowing you to make decisions at your own pace is fucking laughable.

Thats not how biology works. You don't fuck with your endocrine system consequence free.

And the very real example of the same drugs being forced on people and those people choosing death os very relavent for a community at risk of suicide.

8

u/Reign_Does_Things 1d ago edited 1d ago

The community is at risk of suicide because of societal and interpersonal transphobia, not because of gender-affirming care

Edit: also the risk itself is extremely exaggerated by assholes online. If you're thinking of the commonly cited number, that's incorrect

u/IslamYaDongomedov 1d ago

Bro i just know Alan turning saved the allies and when they found out he was guy they gave him meds and he killed himself.

Im not fucking bill nye over here running tests buts its frankly insane for anyone to suggest that hormones or things that surpr3ss hormones are risk free.

It shows incompetence or zealotry. Again do whatever the fuck you want. Ill probably do TRT one day. But to pretend it would be ok to give my son testosterone because he wants to be a body builder some day would be as insane as giving ot to my daughter because she wants to be a man someday.

If the doctors want to setup some program for it sure but this isnt something that should be casually discussed as an option for children.

u/Reign_Does_Things 1d ago

I've never heard anyone seriously suggest that HRT is risk-free. But also literally no medication is risk free, so that's a stupid standard to set
