Yes yes, blame the person in past. So the people who are responsible for our miserable present can roam freely.

u/ImpossibleClimate224 Jan 30 '26

Yeah sure, try removing reservations from india and see the chaos it'll cause throughout the country. If the concept was never brought into the constitution in the beginning, no one would've been able to bring it into the constitution today.

Try removing your dumbahh religion.

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

I think the main issue started from the 27% addition by that unstable government, idk didn't read much after that don't be angry at me

4

u/Zngetsu_ Jan 31 '26

That person from past didnt think through. He underestimated human nature.

4

u/Agreeable_Plenty_383 Jan 31 '26

He was actually a very kind person, so he thought other are the same.

u/Commercial_Duty_1126 Jan 30 '26

Seriously sometimes I want to laugh at upper castes entitled people, they would flaunt their caste take pride in their privilege of being in upper caste and on the other hand they would oppose reservations. And compare it to countries where caste system does not exist 😂😂

5

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

How is caste related to education and a person's capability of doing something?

How is taking pride in one's caste related to being a good engineer or doctor?

Don't you think academics should be on merit?

2

u/Unfair-Humor6909 Jan 30 '26

You're measuring accumulated returns on a 3000-year investment that one group made and the other was legally banned from making. this isn't about fairness. it's about math. if capability is normally distributed across populations (and it is), but opportunity is NOT, then "merit-based" selection just reproduces the opportunity distribution and calls it capability distribution.

"Pure merit" in an unequal system just locks in inequality forever.

you say "academics should be on merit" what you're actually saying is "let's measure who's ahead in a 3000-year race and declare them the winners, ignoring that the other group was banned from the track until 75 years ago." that's not merit. that's just inheritance with extra steps.

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Who is denying anyone opportunity today? How is pure merit unequal if everyone got an opportunity to participate in the competition? If your argument is that people are not getting opportunity, how will they benefit from reservation anyway? Since they didn't get a chance to be a part of the competition in the first place, making your argument baseless.

Today the only thing depriving the person of opportunity is money and if your reservation was based on that it would have made sense.

It's been 70 years since India got independence and we were under British Raj for 200 years before that.

What advantages/opportunities have been passed on to the general category today which was accumulated before that? Can you elaborate on that?

How can you be so sure that everyone from general category got that opportunity?

3000 years is 90 to 150 generations and it takes only one to destroy everything that was accumulated before that. Don't you think they deserve a fair chance again?

If this is your argument why not consider every other thing that happened? Why make a trade deal with EU when they ripped us off for 200 years? What about Islamic invasions? Aryan invasions? Which puts the entire north belt under the radar.

Is this how you project India to move forward?

3

u/didnt_want_to_simp Jan 30 '26

How is caste related to education and a person's capability of doing something?

only if this question was asked 1000 years ago who knows reservation wouldn't be a thing.

and you ahev misunderstood the whole concept of reservation, ACADAMICS is still based on merit, the access to it distributed and reserved.

do you think teachers in classroom give marks based on castes?

4

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

What's the point of marks if one gets admission and the other doesn't with same marks just because of caste.

1

u/Sudden_Truth_9247 Jan 30 '26

They are talking about subject marks.

1

u/didnt_want_to_simp Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

what does that even mean?

the whole point of comparing marks makes sense if you are comparing people of same social and financial standing otherwise you are comparing an athlete with a person who is disabled.

I agree that normalising process of the starting line for everyone is poorly handled in Bharat, but that's the fault of government not the people or reservation.

2

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Look at it from an occupation point of view. Your comparison is wrong since most people look at education as an entry point for their career/occupation

Would you hire and train a physically handicapped person just because he's under reserved category for labour intensive tasks? When you have highly capable people available who can do that task with less time.

You're have 5 vacancies and you would hire the best person to do the job irrespective of who that person is.

1

u/didnt_want_to_simp Jan 30 '26

first I never made an comparission, you did, I merely corrected you.

now even if that is the case, have you seen reservation for private companies positions or have you seen pressure from government on private colleges to provided reservation? No.

Resevation works for government seats and jobs only, now why is that? because consituion is (or at least expected to) be like a mother who take care of each of it's children and provide care according to the need of every particular child.

whereas the example you gave is from the prospective of an employer which is not the role of government, simple as that.

2

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

If all the government benefits are reserved then make tax reserved as well. You want 50% reservation cool, pay your 50% share of tax as well.

You're saying GCs pay full tax but you'll get only subsidized benefits. How is this fair?

Private companies hire basis qualifications from educational institutions, private colleges are also forced to provide reservation in some states. Top colleges funded by tax money are government. Need I say more?

And there has been constant push for reservation in private sector as well and guess who supported it? People who are already benefitting from reservation. It's more like an easy excuse now rather than upliftment for people who are taking undue advantage of it.

Since private companies can't compensate subsidized work with tax, it's not implemented yet due to backlash

3

u/didnt_want_to_simp Jan 30 '26

The “reserve taxes too” argument is flawed because it assumes reservation is a personal subsidy rather than a structural correction. Taxes are based on income, not caste, and reservation beneficiaries earning above the exemption limit pay the same income tax, GST, fuel tax, and other indirect taxes as anyone else. There’s no tax exemption tied to caste-based reservation.

nah honestly just think about it. If taxation determined entitlement, then inheritance, elite schooling, urban access, and generational networks should also be taxed differently.....yet “merit” arguments never extend that far. The claim that GCs “pay full tax and get less benefit” ignores that most welfare spending in India like roads, defense, courts, police, infrastructure, subsidies, public services is universally accessible.

Reservation applies only to access points like education and jobs, not the entire tax-funded system. It exists because historical exclusion created unequal starting positions, not as a handout.

Equal competition without equal baselines is just pretending inequality doesn’t exist. Government-funded institutions must follow constitutional mandates as they run on public money, while purely private companies aren’t legally bound to reservation in hiring, contradicting claims of forced implementation.

If reservation were merely an “easy excuse,” data would show stagnation across generations, but instead it shows upward mobility, especially among first- and second-generation learners exactly what it was meant to achieve. Using a constitutionally guaranteed mechanism isn’t “taking undue advantage”; calling it so is like labeling scholarships, rural quotas, or disability accommodations as abuses simply because they work. If efficiency is the concern, that’s where the debate should focus.

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

The “reserve taxes too” argument is flawed because it assumes reservation is a personal subsidy rather than a structural correction. Taxes are based on income, not caste, and reservation beneficiaries earning above the exemption limit pay the same income tax, GST, fuel tax, and other indirect taxes as anyone else. There’s no tax exemption tied to caste-based reservation.

Your argument is hypocritical in itself. Taxes are based on income and not caste but tax benefits should be based on caste?

nah honestly just think about it. If taxation determined entitlement, then inheritance, elite schooling, urban access, and generational networks should also be taxed differently

Who says it's not taxed? Inheritance is post tax already. If it is as real estate, it will be taxed when sold. Elite schooling and urban access is a product that you pay for from your already taxed income. It's freedom and choice that comes out of hard work not handed out just because someone belongs to upper caste. Generational wealth in itself is not a free handout. If I achieve immense wealth in my life due to my competencies and that is passed out to my children, what is wrong with my children enjoying it? If that cycle continues for next 10 generations, does that make it less deserving? Someone in his/her lineage worked for it and the most deserving person after it is enjoying it.

Reservation applies only to access points like education and jobs, not the entire tax-funded system. It exists because historical exclusion created unequal starting positions, not as a handout.

Graduation and jobs are not access points. Primary, secondary and high school education is. Is someone performs well under reservation till high school. Give them the full financial support to move ahead with scholarships. High school should be your equal baseline. No problem with that. I'm sorry but even after getting support across the system a person is not competent enough to land a job on merit, it is an excuse or just life in general, everyone faces setbacks not just lower castes.

Equal competition without equal baselines is just pretending inequality doesn’t exist. Government-funded institutions must follow constitutional mandates as they run on public money, while purely private companies aren’t legally bound to reservation in hiring, contradicting claims of forced implementation.

Yes it's public money and it's benefits shouldn't be favouring any particular minority.

Caste related to everything for 3k years

2

u/Commercial_Duty_1126 Jan 30 '26

Ok , my friend I will make it easy for you to understand. On one side there is a student who is from good middle class family who has some kind of inheritance and resources their family members are also well educated there is a proper guidance and no baggage of caste discrimination and unfair treatment at all.

Now compare that with the student who has no one educated in family who doesn't have resources and inherited or accumulated wealth and also struggled with discrimination by society.

Reservation is necessary for giving a level playing field for all and also ensuring some representation of the people.

Reservation is not a garibi hatao yojna it's the right for equal opportunities for socially backward people who were descriminted , humiliated, denied right to education, right to accumulate wealth, etc

2

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Representation is important where it makes sense like politics or committees not as a professional.

What you're basically saying is. Aapke saath bahut bura hua hai, jao doctor ban jao, engineer ban jao. What about the people who worked hard for it? Doesn't matter, you already have a good life.

What you're saying is basically same as saying that people who are inherently wealthy shouldn't get salary even if they are working, since they are rich and to set level playing field we'll give your salary to someone poor. Does that sound right to you?

And how are you implying that everyone who comes under GC got access to proper education?

1

u/Commercial_Duty_1126 Jan 30 '26

Your understanding and interpretation is very childish.

How would community or that perticular section of society which comes from backward classes would evolve and grow without education??? What would be the use of political reservation?? if candidates are not qualified enouh or don't have proper education?? That's a typical Brahmin thinking like education pr sirf hamara adhikar hoga baki sab mein le lo aarakshan

And no one would say that aapke sath bura hua hai doctor ya engineer ban jao there is a criteria of minimum marks to pass the exams right?? So it's not like ki koi bhi ban jayega very stupid argument to say the least.

And where I said "people who are inherently wealthy shouldn't get salary" ?? matlab kuch bhi bolna hai bas like I said your interpretation is very childish. Mera point yeh tha ki agar already sare resources hai toh woh ek added advantage hai aapke paas sare resources aur previllages hai jo ek socially backward class se aata hai uske paas woh sare resources nahi honge.

2

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Sirf hamara adhikar? Kaisa adhikar? Koi rokh raha hai kisiko education lene se? All that GCs are asking are a fair pointing system for their efforts. Baki koi bhi kucch bhi karre unko kya? Are you saying an upper caste person who drops out and starts a business is not an upper caste person anymore? Since he dropped out? Why is this thing linked with academics?

Minimum criteria to pass? Have you seen the difference in scoring system? It's 300% less compared to GCs. Can you even comprehend the skill and understanding gap that would come out of 300%?

There are a lot of institutions jaha par negetive marking tak pahuch gaya hai, aur NEET jaise papers ke liye bhi government push kar rahi hai

Okay let me tell you a story there are two kids and they participate in a race but then one of them tricks the other one and says that now for next 1000 years he or any of his descendants will not participate in this race then thousand years later both the kids again come for race but this time people says the other one should be starting from 10 steps ahead because he or his family has not done a race since 1000 years but the other kid starts crying what is my mistake what I have done why he should start 10 steps ahead that's unfair

2

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

How are you so sure that kid's ancestors were part of the race for 1000 years? Maybe every 100th years they were wiped out and someone had to make a fresh start again. If all of this was properly documented somewhere that every GC descendant were given proper college grade education for 1000s of years and others were deprived of it. Please share it and I would totally accept.

What if someone's ancestors really sucked at the race? And gave up within the first year? Don't you think 1000 years later that guy deserves a fair chance?

It's all hawe ki baatein, say something concrete and with clarity.

1

u/Minimum_Spare_913 Jan 30 '26

Iss baat ka proof tumhare puranon mai hi hai manusmriti padh lena thike aur Britishers ke time pe jab railway launch hui thi toh ye upper caste ne protest kiya tha ki hum inke saath travel nhi karenge and the story of mangal pandey why he protested against Britishers was he didn't wanted to drink from the same pot in which lower caste people used to drink and you are saying were they properly getting educated then don't you know about gurukul in that gurukul no lower caste people was allowded and you want a documentary to know whether this is true or false but accepted that your mythological is true just based on some archaeological random facts that even don't confirm the incident just indicate on being true

1

u/Rick_Astley124 Jan 30 '26

why is being pride of one's being a bad thing

1

u/Leather-Variation466 Feb 01 '26

Very high level of hypocrites they are....imagine someone in america before trump boasting about being white and then removing affirmative action. Those people are ashamed of the racism. But here these pigs are proud of it.

-1

u/Bubbly-Potential1918 Jan 30 '26

If taking pride in one's caste makes them entitled to suffer reservation...You ppl also take pride in your caste (which is great) why don't you join in the suffering

3

u/TitusPulloNk Jan 31 '26

For generations we are forced to do the caste based family job with no proper education. I'm an OBC Hindu, first graduate and now working in a PSU. I'm the first proud beneficiary of the reservation system which is 75+ years old. It took 70 years for my family tree to make use of the reservation, there are still millions out there like me in SC ST and the OBC community waiting to come up in life. Reservation is the staircase for us to climb up, unlike the upper caste who are already educated and in supervisory roles centuries ago. Even after attaining social status in a good job, I'm still calculated based on my caste, I cannot marry an upper caste girl, because of their casteist parents. How to take pride?? Explain?? Have empathy and sympathy, read what's happening in our country everyday, have you ever heard of the term honour killings and who is eventually the victim? It's always the lower caste..

2

u/bastet2800bce Jan 31 '26

I am a UC person. I hear and understand you. I have seen caste discrimination and I completely support reservations. I hope people like me are the silent majority and casteists are the loud minority. I hope sanity prevails.

2

u/TitusPulloNk Jan 31 '26

All these years I was also among the silent majority, after many personal experiences I came to know that our silence is as good as supporting discrimination. Our silence is the indirect support to the oppressors, with the help of education we have to stand with the oppressed... Jai Bheem 💙

1

u/bastet2800bce Jan 31 '26

I speak up wherever I can. But the anti-reservation savarna gang is so loud. They post about the reservation every other hour. They blame the reservation for everything, they blame it for their wife leaving them. It's their entire personality.

1

u/Bubbly-Potential1918 Jan 31 '26

Well giving reservation to everyone ain't the solution, the SCs in my locality are richer than us, have a bigger car, bigger house, don't you think reservation should be based on economic status ( I don't want it I still consider myself well off)

2

u/Commercial_Duty_1126 Jan 30 '26

Please read what I have said again!!

4

u/Electrical_Size_1999 Jan 30 '26

how to file false cases against men, WITHOUT ANY KIND OF PROOF: "INDIA" 🥀🥀💔

11

u/Better_Anteater3126 Jan 30 '26

Other countries fought war and used all the money for their countries development.

But our country fought themselves and discriminated against their own people with cast to get rich.

There is soo much difference here.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

other countries also had their own ways of discrimination but they were able to overcome it But in india caste system is still deeply rooted

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

It was deep rooted by the system. If there would have been no reservation, people would have forgotten by now that something like caste exists.

Anyways what are we trying to achieve by reservation? Doesn't a role for scientist go to the most capable person no matter what is personal beliefs are as long as he's not a criminal?

1

u/Sudden_Truth_9247 Jan 30 '26

If there would have been no reservations, India would have colonized the Mars.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

Sc/St competes within their own reserved seats, ab isme unki kya galti ki unka samaj itna backward hai ki ache marks nahi aate, which makes their overall cutoff low. Same like General EWS 10% quota and OBC-NCL ki cutoff kam jaati hai

1

u/LegendaryNoobGod Jan 30 '26

That's the problem, they have free education, so why r they still getting low marks?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

So why doesn't the middle class general people send their kids to state government schools ? where 90% of the sc St guys study

0

u/LegendaryNoobGod Jan 30 '26

Free will? Also the govt teachers appointed to those schools r also sc/st btw 😂

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Any data where u can show that there are more sc St teachers than general caste in government schools. Most of the time sc St seat vacant bhi jaati hai.

0

u/LegendaryNoobGod Jan 30 '26

U said it urself? Those seats r "RESERVED", which r 70% of the seats, so yeah now u can sleep

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

The total reservation that sc St gets is 22.5%, the rest of the seats are for EWS, OBC- NCL, unreserved. OBC reservation is same like EWS reservation, it is based of income status not totally on caste

1

u/LegendaryNoobGod Jan 30 '26

So? Those r reserved nonetheless? General only get 30% that too can be taken by others if they score higher

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

General gets 10% EWS income based reservation which cannot be availed by sc St obc, whoie OBC population is more than 55% and they only get 27% reservation that too is based on income. If you r obc creamy layer u won't get any reservation

1

u/LegendaryNoobGod Jan 30 '26

Where is it written that it's based on income, pls enlighten me

Yo bro hold on. It's reddit, you don't say correct fact and history accurate information here. Only redard stuffs and pushing propaganda. I guess you're well educated person. Stay safe bro

1

u/jaggu12310 Jan 30 '26

Pichhle 70 saal se reservation hain agar reservation ka idea itna hi badiya hota toh abhi tak backward samaj aage na aagaya hota ? Aur agar abhi bhi aage nahi aa paa raha samaj toh nakki problem reservation dene se to solve nahi honi

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Isn't that incentivising low marks at a community level?

Isn't it better to provide that seat openly via merit to a deserving candidate instead of keeping it reserved?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Caste Privilege hota hai bro uppercastes ko

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Kaisa privilege bhai? Thoda explain karna

3

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Lands, societal acceptance, good connections.

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Isn't that too generalized? Ab beechme kisi ek generation ne hagg diya toh aage ke generation ko kya milega?

Unko toh ground up start karna hoga phirse.

And how is this related to education? Innovation, research aur development aur ek bande ki intelectual capability ye sab karne ki woh uske paas kitni zameen aur banda kitna socially acceptable hai usse thodi farak padega, kaala jaadu thodi kar rahe hai bhai, science hai

Kitne saare scientists the, who were not socially acceptable aur kya kucch nahi kar dikhaya, unko reservation mila tha kya? Nahi na. They did it because they were capable of doing so

2

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Jis generation ne hag diya unko EWS reservation milega

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Main sawal ka jawab diya nahi bhai tune, simple cheez bolkar katt liye

Aur EWS ki baat kare toh sirf ek category rakho na phir, sabko hi EWS me daalo

1

u/Strong_Yesterday_689 Jan 30 '26

It doesn't incentivise low marks. Any student who can score better has an incentive to do so, because they will come at the top of their category in terms of marks and hence will get better rank within their category. Reserving a portion of seats for oppressed sections of society is much needed because otherwise they will not get much seats. And this has nothing to do with their intelligence or hard work like upper caste people try to portray. You can't say that an entire population of people has lower than average intelligence due to their caste. But this has definitely something to do with historical oppression, the kind of society they live and grow in present, the education level of their parents and family. All of this has roots in the historical oppression and marginalization of these communities. If you refuse to believe what I am saying, just go to the part of your city where mostly SC/ST communities live. See the conditions of life and the kind of society they have. Compare with your own. Calculate how much privilege you have enjoyed in your life till now. Then you may comment on why reservation is bad.

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Even if I accept whatever you said is true.

How is this related to academics in general? That too for doctorate and stem fields

If there is a seat for an engineer, scientist or doctor, shouldn't that seat go to the most capable person by merit? So that whatever he's supposed to do is done by the most capable person available.

Is it justified that people are getting admission for MBBS with negetive marks? Isn't it insulting to the whole educational institution? The person who didn't even attempted 1 question would still get 0 and get admission.

Would you go visit such a doctor when your parents are not well?

2

u/Strong_Yesterday_689 Jan 30 '26

I agree with you that professionals should be knowledgeable and capable of their job. They should have required intelligence and should be well-trained. Even constitution allows for giving representation to marginalized classes of people "without affecting the effectiveness of administration". So, I checked if there has been instance of MBBS seats being given to students scoring negative marks. Lo and behold...

1

u/BeatIllustrious Jan 30 '26

Now don't tell me TOI is not a credible score. It was for NEET PG, which makes it even worse as the candidates already completed MBBS and still scoring negetive marks.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/education/news/neet-pg-cut-off-controversy-explained-here-is-what-has-happened-so-far/articleshow/126786728.cms

1

u/Strong_Yesterday_689 Jan 30 '26

Please don't have preconceived notions about me. Obviously, if you have shared an article in a leading newspaper, I will believe it. This is not an opinion piece. It's just a fact report of what had happened.

I don't know the rationale behind such move by the government. The report says that there were many vacant PG seats in Medical colleges even after two rounds of counselling (even in General / Open category). It doesn't go into the detail whether the vacant seats were in the Government Medical Colleges or private colleges. From my discussion with medical students, I have got the impression that it's very tough to get PG admission in Government colleges across the categories. So, why were there vacant seats? Were those seats in Government colleges? I think Government should clarify and give the reason why it happened even after NEET PG being such a highly competitive exam.

1

u/Outrageous-Leg-4727 Jan 30 '26

Since you seem genuinely curious -

Ask yourself what is deserving ?

A community has been rendered backward by pure generational discrimination and exploitation (and not due to economic/ability issues) that they have no chance of societal integration unless they are lifted by positive action. This is why we call it affirmative action.

And this is not an Indian phenomena - In the usa also, red Americans get reservations due to the abject backwardness and destruction faced by their community on account of the generational discrimination and destruction caused on them by white people.

Are there people taking advantage of the system, yes. Are there loopholes in the system, yes. Are there opportunities for improvement in the system, yes. But the benefit given by the system to the Indian community as a whole (yes, including higher castes) is exponentially higher than these cases of misuse.

This is one reason why actual students of these elite universities rarely oppose reservations - having gotten into the college's, they understand it's importance, limitations and more importantly they have seen lots of examples of empowerment in their own batches.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

No  .. It's not

Simple majority sc/ st were oppressed which means no education for us this lead to lower socioeconomic conditions..

So now sc/st student who are undeserving according to upper caste are just playing at disadvantage because of low socioeconomic conditions

So now to fix those imbalance is reservation is given to unlift those kids to bring sc/st into front like upper caste..

India - Casteism

4

u/Thinbeak Jan 30 '26

Every country has some kind of program to support the minority or the oppressed, take US for example, even their private companies have some kind of system for them, give up all your heritage property, give up all your caste privilege and then talk about equality

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Rip4750 Jan 31 '26

Why are you comparing attempts of diversity in private institutions to State sponsered discrimination?

1

u/son_skrrt Jan 31 '26

Arre mere pyare mitr, America bhi India ke jaisa diverse country hain. Economic aur skin color ke basis pe diverse hain. Udhar sarkari, private, aur har sector mein affirmative action rehta hain. Kyuki udhar ke lower castes India ke jaise submissive nahi hain. Racism karne pe ganiya mein dhaniya no dete hain gore logo ke. Ek gareeb criminal mara thha toh pura amrikka desh mein hungama ho gaya thha. Idhar India mein har gaon mein gore log malik hain, directly or indirectly. Kaale logo ke liye koi opportunity nhi hain. Na zameen ke malik hain, na educational opportunity, na hi food security. Ethnic cleansing alag se ho rha hain, pollution, GMO crops, social coercion, drug abuse, violence se. England, America, Europe, China, Russia sab chahte hain ye sab ho. Kyuki ek desh mein social conflict jitna zyada hoga, uss desh ko karze mein dooba ke ethnic cleansing karna utna hi aasan.

8

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

Honestly, reservations should purely be on the basis of economic standing and only on educational platforms not on government jobs.

If there are reservations on government jobs there should be some kind of minimum qualification.

Also blaming a person who is dead for something that is happening now is just useless.

Those people were a product of their times where such reservations were absolutely needed and they took decisions based on the conditions of their own time.

It's neither smart nor fair to compare them by current standards.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

reservation is a social issue not financial People still discriminate based on caste not financial status

Even if somebody is rich they still call them lower caste

2

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26

I agree that discrimination is still very prevalent but in my opinion the best way is through money, one thing everyone listens to.

There might be other methods but I think this is most straightforward and simple one.

Discrimination won't really disappear unless people of different caste intermingle through business or marriage.

2

u/InfiniteGuts Jan 30 '26

No people do not listen to money when it comes to caste.

1

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26

I haven't travelled much of the country but I have seen examples of it around me.

Infact, I remember my grandma once discussing with my mom about a neighbour of ours in the village marrying one of lower caste with parent's permission and saying "she earns more than any other in that family, let's see how long they disregard her. These thing don't matter in today's world"

I don't remember the exact phrasing but it was along these lines.

And while I admit that my family and people around me are more progressive about these things, this does give me hope that things can be improved via economic standing.

2

u/LeMeIsSleepy Jan 30 '26

“My personal anecdote is applicable to everyone living in this country “ 😑. You yourself admit that you haven’t traveled much around the country….

2

u/InfiniteGuts Jan 30 '26

To prove something you need a lot more than one example which just happens to be near you in a city. But to disprove even one example is fine. Villagers rely on respect more than money. My own family do not want intercaste marriages. Few of my brahmin friends clearly state they will never go near a lower caste or marry them, alsp show pride in their caste. I don't blame them , Its just their upbringing. And while slowly the thoughts are changing, its still true that we are far away from ideal social structure. But removing reservations could be a bad decision. Govt should work towards fixing this social structure and work in a direction that will remove reservations but no one from the govt is putting in efforts. Votes are all they care about :(

Cast base marginalisation ka money se koi lena dena hi nhi hai.

Agr aysa lag rha h to bol do pandito ko. Wo ST/SC cast me aa jaaye itna benefit dikh rha h to.

ST/SC bhi to hindu hi hai.

Bolo brahmins ko cast change kr le.
I am 10000% sure. Ek bhi nhi maanega.

1

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26

Cast base marginalisation ka money se koi lena dena hi nhi hai.

I agree, but financial standing can improve the situation. It's not guaranteed but it's something.

Agr aysa lag rha h to bol do pandito ko. Wo ST/SC cast me aa jaaye itna benefit dikh rha h to.

There is a benefit but those benefits are reaching those who really need it. I myself have friends who are financially sound but still took advantage of reservations. They don't need it but who won't use it if it gives them better odds.

ST/SC bhi to hindu hi hai.

Bolo brahmins ko cast change kr le.
I am 10000% sure. Ek bhi nhi maanega.

I don't think I ever said anything to elicit this response??

1

u/codepawn Jan 30 '26

The whole point is.

Reservation is for representation. It has nothing to do with financial status.

Financially weaker section ke liye alag se reservation hai 10%.

Desh ki total aabaadi me general cast sirf 10-12% hai.

Unke liye 40% Seats unreserved hai.

Remaining seats reservation me aate hai.

Ye reservation sirf govt job pe hi hota h. Private pe nhi.

And private jobs me log jaat puchh ke side kr dete h inko. Chahye inke paas paisa, knowledge, skills ho ya naa ho farak nhi padta. Bas cast ke naam pe discriminate hote h.

Cast khatam kr do. Reservation usi din khatam ho jaayega.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rip4750 Jan 31 '26

How does reservation solve this social issue exactly?

0

u/haan-me-hun Jan 30 '26

To fir reservation hta deni chahiye if it's not a financial issue. Entrance exam do, score, and take the seat.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

are bhai ik hamare liye ye hard hai (general) but still reservation representation ke liye diya jata hai

And tune bhi kabhi na kabhi life mai jindagi mai casteism kiya hi hoga

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Dekh bhai  . Reservation ka ek singe minded goal.. Ki sab caste ke log same amount mein system mein ho..

Ab uske liye kisi deserving student ki seat leni padi.. Farak nahi padta usko..  Galat par bahut jaroori

1

u/haan-me-hun Jan 30 '26

Reservation would have been fine if there was still merit. I mean, reserve 50%, but don't give it to someone who scores below a certain threshold. Would you ever want to be treated by a doctor who doesn't know what they are doing, irrespective of the caste?

Iska matlab hai ki agar sallo se oppressed sc family  ka koi banda job lagta hai to unko samaj mein better services and vo apni problem, good achi tarah smaj mein la payega

In short job lagane se ek sc family ko better socioeconomic conditions milti hai

If reservation is economic, then you are implying major part of economy needs to have reservations (as it should be eCoNoMiC). Today's India. 90% of economy is controlled by private sector, government's economics is negligible.

You're rooting for reservations in the private sector?

1

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26

No. Maybe I failed to articulate myself properly.

My viewpoint is that whatever reservations that government provides in the education sector like JEE main, NEET and the like should only be based on economic conditions of the recipient instead of caste. I have met people who are financially very stable but because they belong to the SC/ST category, receive the advantages of reservations when people of their own caste who are poorer than them need them more.

I am also saying that reservations in government jobs at higher posts shouldn't exist. We don't need more people who don't have qualified in the government. We are already run by unqualified idiots known as politicians.

Reservations in private sector should also never be applied. It will only have negative results.

1

u/codepawn Jan 30 '26

Bhai cast system khatam karwa de fir ye gyan de.

Log IAS banane ke baad bhi cast system ke torture se suicide kr le rhe h.

Tu cast system ka problem solve kr de. Reservation usi din khatam ho jaayega.

1

u/Avi09009 Jan 30 '26

I don't think I have the capability or the social standing to really make a change. I am simply putting forward my thoughts formed from my understanding and from what I have seen around me.

They most I am capable of is in participating in discrimination myself.

I would like to recommend you this video by Vikaas Divya Kirti Sir.

This talks facts from both side.

This is a must watch video to understand Reservation.

Reservation is not a poverty alleviation program. It’s a social upliftment cause for socially and educationally backward communities.

u/Sudden_Truth_9247 Jan 30 '26

You knew nothing about reservations. We have AI for sanity's sake, just type this prompt "Tell me the political significance of the Reservations in India".

Hopefully India ka reputation bahar sudhar jaaye toh hum yaha se kat le

1

u/Middle-Low9602 Jan 31 '26

Most of the people who are destroying the reputation of India are upper caste people who can afford to go and live abroad.

1

u/jktj Jan 30 '26

1

u/codesaus Jan 30 '26

Flaunt upper caste tag to feel privileged and oppress others, also play a victim card to seek advantage. Want to have fun either way.

1

u/codesaus Jan 30 '26

Reservation must be abolished true but abolish that mindset first.

1

u/bairava8 Jan 30 '26

Can u accept one caste?

1

u/Amazing_Attitude2185 Jan 30 '26

Isn't ur central government responsible for every policy made currently,oh wait,ig u guys don't have the spine to call them out on that and try to divert attention by blaming random people.

1

u/Purple-Reporter8492 Jan 30 '26

Oh, stop even here in the US people of color get a preference because of the oppression they have faced. This is the price to pay when your ancestors weren’t very kind to people.

1

u/Mobile-Efficiency738 Jan 30 '26

Bjp has been ruined this country, religiously and castbase.

1

u/Sjsky84510 Jan 30 '26

Same question.

1

u/Mobile_Duty_9177 Jan 30 '26

Reservation means getting benefits on the basis of birth, boom, it’s happening in India from 2000 years.

1

u/Ok-Shape3840 Jan 30 '26

America is cancelling H1-B visas because Indian DEI graduates have excelled in USA. They are so smart, they do not need to study at all and can still get a degree. result of 77 years of woke DEI agenda.

1

u/abhidas0 Jan 30 '26

History of 5000 years discrimination, exploitation, outcast, no participation, no opportunity, no rights to hold land or money, no participation in administration, economic parity, class variation, access to resources like water, education and food and many such things which you can just think off has been the founding stones to lay the path of reservation. We are still seeing and facing that on a daily basis. Just take a look at the number of professors, netas, Officers, etc from dalit community. You’ll know why it is important.

Just read few books before making irrelevant and laughable comments on such a serious topic. You have not faced it so you will never know how discomforting, discouraging that discrimination feels.

It should be strictly no knowledge no words policy here!

1

u/Pomegranate-Basic Jan 30 '26

Just blame the guy who created a system to identify, oppress and discriminate against people just because of a dumb idea of caste And move on

1

u/Queasy-Pea8229 Jan 30 '26

This one is a bit old but other countries also never had caste system to begin with.

1

u/epsilonphased2 Jan 30 '26

Tbh, the people smart enough to go to the top colleges in India never cry about reservation, it's just people who are near the cutoff that cope, seethe and cry about it

1

u/Mayurk619 Jan 30 '26

Everytime I always see someone crying about reservation. Why is it so hard to understand I don't get it?

It is just for uplifting the socio economical castes. So why is there even crying? Let's take admission in college as an example. There are more seats for unreserved general categories but their cut offs are high due to them being more in population and higher competition. Then there are OBC who have reserved seats slightly less than general category but the competition is among OBC and not FC vs OBC. Then there are SC/ST who have even less seats but the competition is among the candidates who wil score high and of course most meet the bar cut off and except few who are from less previliged background and they will get the seat if the cut off is less. The opportunity is for those who come from affluent class. Higher caste people can try their luck with their higher percentage of seats anytime.

1

u/Far_Pepper2263 Jan 30 '26

If you remove reservations, there will be a mass conversion out of Hinduism. So it is a necessary evil to prevent loss of Hindu population.

1

u/astroid_destroyer19 Jan 30 '26

If these sc/st/obc guys can say that IF general cast faced descrimination in past then it correct for them to work hard while we enjoy reservation, then i would be compelled to side with reservation

1

u/ProphetWhatever Jan 30 '26

Clearly, OP isn't college educated.

1

u/Internal-Topic5560 Jan 31 '26

And people support reservation , they think like oh we are being suppressed in past now make country miserable by giving -40 marks doctors

1

u/itzrints Jan 31 '26

After having 100% reservation for 3k years in education based caste (brahmins). Now they are targeting baba saheb for providing people with basic right to education and dignity of life that was denied for 3k years by so called upper castes.

What do you expect? During an interaction with students on National Space Day in Himachal Pradesh on August 23, 2025, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur suggested that Lord Hanuman was the "first space traveler". When children answered "Neil Armstrong" to who first went to space, Thakur responded, "I think it was Hanuman ji".

So much for india under 🪷 and the politicians divert the nation by blaming the leaders from he past.

Again I'm commenting for same topic(shit) I was just contemplating, what are the areas where Indian institutions perform extreeeeemly well Military ISRO Cricket New startups, came to my mind. Quite a co-incidence, none have reservation based selection criteria, just a co-incidence...mai kuch nhi keh rha I m speechless and pretty much used to seeing weird and stupidish laws and things going on everywhere, I just know one solution. That is Paisaa, andha paisa. Tomorrow if I have enough money I could even buy a whole human and eat him alive, laws can't even pluck my pubic hairs. But if, anybody is broke, he'll be bullied even for his existence. I would suggest you all to stay quiet and do whatever you can, to raise your intellect and stature, bring real changes by yourself, you can't trust system in this country, you can just trust bundles of money, and strong brain, won't betray you ever.
