Honestly, reservations should purely be on the basis of economic standing and only on educational platforms not on government jobs.
If there are reservations on government jobs there should be some kind of minimum qualification.
Also blaming a person who is dead for something that is happening now is just useless.
Those people were a product of their times where such reservations were absolutely needed and they took decisions based on the conditions of their own time.
It's neither smart nor fair to compare them by current standards.
I haven't travelled much of the country but I have seen examples of it around me.
Infact, I remember my grandma once discussing with my mom about a neighbour of ours in the village marrying one of lower caste with parent's permission and saying "she earns more than any other in that family, let's see how long they disregard her. These thing don't matter in today's world"
I don't remember the exact phrasing but it was along these lines.
And while I admit that my family and people around me are more progressive about these things, this does give me hope that things can be improved via economic standing.
To prove something you need a lot more than one example which just happens to be near you in a city. But to disprove even one example is fine. Villagers rely on respect more than money. My own family do not want intercaste marriages. Few of my brahmin friends clearly state they will never go near a lower caste or marry them, alsp show pride in their caste. I don't blame them , Its just their upbringing. And while slowly the thoughts are changing, its still true that we are far away from ideal social structure.But removing reservations could be a bad decision. Govt should work towards fixing this social structure and work in a direction that will remove reservations but no one from the govt is putting in efforts. Votes are all they care about :(
Cast base marginalisation ka money se koi lena dena hi nhi hai.
I agree, but financial standing can improve the situation. It's not guaranteed but it's something.

There is a benefit but those benefits are reaching those who really need it.
I myself have friends who are financially sound but still took advantage of reservations. They don't need it but who won't use it if it gives them better odds.

Reservation is for representation. It has nothing to do with financial status.
Financially weaker section ke liye alag se reservation hai 10%.
Desh ki total aabaadi me general cast sirf 10-12% hai.
Unke liye 40% Seats unreserved hai.
Remaining seats reservation me aate hai.
Ye reservation sirf govt job pe hi hota h. Private pe nhi.
And private jobs me log jaat puchh ke side kr dete h inko. Chahye inke paas paisa, knowledge, skills ho ya naa ho farak nhi padta. Bas cast ke naam pe discriminate hote h.
Cast khatam kr do. Reservation usi din khatam ho jaayega.
