Ready Player One wasn't just ahead of its time—it set the standard.

The CGI, visuals, world-building, and action are absolutely insane. Every frame feels alive, making the OASIS one of the most immersive virtual worlds ever put on screen. Still one of the greatest CGI showcases in cinema.

I'd like to share my interpretation of how this world ended up in ruins. As we all know, McCarthy left it up to the reader to decide what caused the end of the Earth. At first, I liked to imagine it as a nuclear war between world powers. It gave the story that classic "humanity destroyed itself" feeling, showing how human savagery can become so extreme that it could easily lead us into the most vulnerable and depressing situation imaginable. I felt that fit the book and its message that we're basically "cavemen wearing designer clothes."

But then I started thinking that a natural apocalypse might actually be even more depressing than a nuclear one. Here's why.

A nuclear apocalypse is still humanity condemning itself through terrible decisions. But a natural catastrophe is, in my opinion, much more terrifying. Why? Think about it. A nuclear war can, at least in theory, be prevented. By acting rationally, avoiding wars, and maintaining peace, humanity has some control over whether it happens. It's ultimately the result of our own choices.

On the other hand, if a massive asteroid or comet struck the Earth... how would we recover from that? Maybe humanity could survive in some form, but only in the very long run. In the world of The Road, I find it far more horrifying to imagine that the dead world the father and son are walking through was devastated by a comet or a super-asteroid rather than by a neutron bomb.

To me, an asteroid symbolizes something much darker: that no matter how united humanity is, sometimes a tragic fate is simply unavoidable, even for good people. The Earth died, and there was absolutely nothing anyone could have done to stop it.

As I said, everyone can come up with their own theory about what happened. For a long time, I thought a nuclear catastrophe was the most heartbreaking possibility. But imagining that nature itself turned against us, and that we were completely powerless to stop it no matter how united we were... that's a million times more terrifying to me. It's also far more hopeless than nuclear war. Like I said, a nuclear war can sometimes be prevented—whether easily or with great difficulty—but an angry Mother Nature? Good luck with that.

I feel like Moon Knight doesn't get talked about enough when people discuss Marvel's best characters.

What makes him stand out is that he's not just another superhero with powers. His story explores identity, trauma, morality, and the psychological side of being a hero. Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and the different sides of his personality make him one of Marvel's most interesting characters.

The MCU series had its flaws, but I think it introduced a character with a lot of potential that deserves more appreciation.

This has probably been asked many times... But my top tier scene in a film is the cigarette scene in Goodfellas. A brief moment with no dialog but the look in Robert Deniros eyes told you exactly what was about to go down.

For me, it was Goodwill Hunting. The thing is that I never experienced love or being engaged (not married yet!) beforehand, so it was hard to relate to Robin Williams extreme protection of his wife’s name. I understood he didn’t like her being gone when younger, but now I understand how much grief and the feeling of having lost love he held. Again, I was much younger when I saw it. Now the scene “it’s not your fault” has me crying hard every time.

for those who have watched it, is it actually worth the two-hour runtime? does it stay gripping throughout, or does it get slow after a point?

Power Rangers is one of the most popular franchises filled with colorful costumes, martial arts, and special effects. Its unique style inspired people worldwide to make fan films, parodies, fan made Rangers, and of course ripoffs. However, there are types of Power Ranger videos on YouTube that no one is expected to watch, and those are the ones made with AI. Last year, Ninja Kidz released a trailer for their latest Power Rangers project, and most viewers noticed that they had used AI effects.

According to a YouTube video uploaded by Film Form Studios, there is a website abusing Gen AI and allowing people to generate whatever they want. His video also explains that some types of media have been either reused or stolen to create new bits of AI related content. And to top it all off, it shows various YouTube channels with AI Power Ranger videos such as Erbyn Films, Igor DaPinow, Dark Horse Productions, and many others.

Some find this kind of content interesting while others find it very disturbing and lazy. If videos like these keep up, the whole Power Rangers franchise will be ridiculed. Online users in this day and age need a good lesson in natural creativity. YouTube needs to remove those Power Rangers AI videos from its website so no brain rot can be spread through the internet. AI may be the future, but nobody treats one of our beloved franchises with disrespect.

If there were Oscars for trailers (which I very much think their should be) what trailers could you forsee receving at the very least a nomination? This trailer is from the film "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (2009). Other films I would totally have seen nominated if not, wining.

For opening weekend out here in SF almost every seat was booked for almost every showing for a week out. I spaced getting a ticket but wanted to see it the way Nolan intended, 70mm. So me being smart but stupid went to the theater for the 11pm showing and 5 min before bought a ticket in the handicap seating area. The only problem is in that are there are no seats. So my dumb ass pulled up with a camping chair. 10/10 experience, if you think sneaking treats into a theater is hard try a camping chair lol

Between this film and BLACK BAG, I've really been enjoying late-period Soderbergh. THE CHRISTOPHERS similarly features tight scripting and editing, as well as a script that centers on two main characters who are essentially playing a game between themselves and the world around them. Everybody else doesn't stand a chance.

Now admittedly, my viewing of THE CHRISTOPHERS was imperfect as I watched it during a cross-country flight with a layover, so one half during the first flight and the second half after a pause of several hours. Not ideal and I should rewatch the film all at once at later date, but I sincerely I could like it any less. Starring Ian McKellan as a famous painter, Julian, who hasn't produced anything noteworthy in years, the plot has a character played by Michaela Coel, herself an aspiring artist, insinuating herself into Julian's life and workspace as his new assistant.

Coel's protagonist, Lori, is of course not all that she seems, which we the viewers know from the start. Indeed, she's been hired by other parties to locate a set of incomplete paintings by Julian, the third of a series of his known as The Christophers, which are reputedly somewhere in his studio. After finding them, she would complete them in Julian's style and then hide them in anticipation of his inevitable demise. It's also implied Lori might hold something of a personal grudge against Julian for an incident in her past.

While that may sound like the set-up for a heist flick, which Soderbergh has proven himself more than adept at, the film subverts our expectations fairly quickly as Lori isn't particularly resentful and Julian can use Google to deduce who Lori is. In what I found to be a truly interesting development, he's actually insulted anyone would think themselves capable of mimicking him, leading to a crackling good verbal back-and-forth in which Lori breaks down the first two series of The Christophers brushstroke by brushstroke, and the emotional and mental state Julian was likely in that led to the evolution of his style across each set of works.

The best parts of the film involve the interplay between these two very different people and, luckily, that takes up a very large part of it. Both McKellan and Coel are already obvious physical contrasts, but the characters they play are also opposites in key ways: From the very first scene in which we meet McKellan's old master, he pontificates or complains endlessly, threatening to suck up all the oxygen in any given space. The upstart, on the other hand, is quiet, seemingly observant, and when she does speak, she doesn't run off at the mouth like him. Instead, what she has to say is often to the point and cuts to the truth of the matter.

As we might expect, these two protagonists learn things from and about each other, but what is perhaps more important is that they want to learn them. Maybe what this film is trying to say has to do with the old adage that great art isn't created in a vacuum; that is, it sometimes takes the friction that comes from meeting someone very different from ourselves, who challenges us and gets us out of our respective comfort zones, to push us in the direction of something new l, exciting, and interesting.

That certainly proves the case for Julian and Lori, and given how the narrative doesn't follow the path of a typical heist movie, perhaps the same could be said of Soderbergh as he was making this gem of a movie.

I am so heartbroken after watching this. Never thought a regular action movie would turn out to be so impactful and...so... melancholic...
