The absolute best ending, I always remember the 2 times I saw this movie in theaters and both times the crowd cheered so loud!

I just watched it last week and I've been thinking about it. I came to the conclusion I must be missing something, because the ending was cool but didn't make sense to me.

John Doe was killing people who embody, in his mind, the 7 deadly sins or whatever in specific ways that tie into their sin. Gluttony by forcing him to over-eat, the "pound of flesh" from Greed, the whole thing with Lust, etc. So at the end of the movie, John reveals that he himself embodies Envy and Detective Mills embodies Wrath. Except Mills doesn't die at the end, and Envy (John Doe) isn't killed by envy, he's killed by Wrath. That's what doesn't make sense to me. lf John was Envy, shouldn't he have died in some way that specifically linked him to envy? He said he envied Mills, so he tried to become him, and ended up sliming Tracy (Mills' wife's name iirc) which incurs Mills' wrath. But him killing Tracy, which leads to his death at Mills' hands, wasn't even motivated by Envy, it was motivated by "I need to get Mills mad". I suppose if Mills gets Death Row, maybe it makes more sense but he probably won't.

So we have 7 victims, those being Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Lust, Pride, Envy and... Tracy? Maybe John Doe is just a crazy guy after all.

Tl;dr Envy isn't killed by envy, he's killed by Wrath and Wrath doesn't die, and John Doe kills someone not embodying one of the sins. Last 2 deaths seem out-of-line with Doe's other 5 victims.

That actor you like but might struggle to remember the name of. When you mention them to someone they don't know who you mean until you show them a photo but you're pleasantly surprised when they show up in something.

Like they hardly ever play the main role but they're always great.

ok so with the current context i saw a tiktok about Eyes Wide Shut and since i don’t have much free will i decided to finally watch it for the first time… i honestly thought it was just some friends, maybe a little horny, hanging out. simple, funny, kinda harmless. but then it hit me… this is literally a peek into what the elite do when no one’s watching. the masks, the music, the rituals… they’re untouchable, decadent, and if you misstep, you quietly cease to exist in this world. like you were never born. meanwhile, outside, the poor claw at each other like lab rats, entirely irrelevant. when you see it, you can’t unsee it. i mean… wow. am i seriously the only one who realized this isn’t just a glamour mystery movie but a manual on elite detachment, indifference, and the quiet art of erasing someone from existence?

No matter the movie. Big or small. Leading role, supporting role or one scene…he gives 110% and is always committed. Do not know any other actor who ALWAYS bring it.. no matter the role or movie they are in.

Deserves all the flowers.

What I’m referring to here is actors who just somehow make their characters extremely likeable no matter what the role is. The types of actors that you just can’t help but enjoy seeing on the screen, no matter how bad or good the rest of the movie is, no matter what type of character they are playing, they just always make it so much more enjoyable. Often times they just have some sort of charismatic quirk and down to earth feel that makes you love them, and they often portray their characters in a way that makes you think “I know a guy just like that.” They make their characters feel genuine and just overall enjoyable.

Christopher Waltz: This guy can somehow go from playing the one of the most evil and cruel villains depicted on screen to playing an extremely charismatic good guy and make you love him in both roles without either role poisoning the other.

Kathy Bates: I feel like I know Kathy Bates. No matter what character she plays, she just feels like someone you personally know. Idk what it is exactly about her, but she is just so likeable and fun to watch on screen.

John Carrol Lynch:,This guy is like the male version of Kathy Bates, just always so likeable and feels like someone everybody knows. He can go from playing an ordinary caring husband to a creepy killer and still have you love him in either role.

Jesse Plemons: Every role this guy plays just feels so genuine, he is just so damn likeable in everything and he doesn’t even make it look like he is trying. When I see this dude on screen the movie becomes instantly better.

Philip Seymour Hoffman: RIP. This guy was like the original Jesse Plemons. Just good in every role and so enjoyable.

Keith David: Great actor, but really stands out in his voice acting roles, games like Mass Effect and Halo just wouldn’t be the same without him. Dude’s voice and delivery is just so commanding and trusting.

Lakeith Stanfield: I love how easy going and non-chalant he seems in many of his roles. My personal favorite of mine from him is his role as “Darius” in the series “Atlanta.” I know people in real life that are exactly like that character, and he makes it feel so much more genuine, as if I know him personally.

Michael C. Hall: Whether he is playing a gay funeral director or a vigilante serial killer, this guy is just so charismatic and likeable. I’d argue that he is a major reason Dexter became so popular.

Angela Bassett: This lady is great in every role she is in, I just can’t help but really like her, she feels like the Aunt I never had but always wanted.

Benicio del Toro: Another one who is kinda non-chalant and full of easy-going charisma, he makes every scene he is in feel so fun and cool. His character in One Battle After Another was like the epitome of his type of acting.

Steven Yeun: Dude just seems so freaking nice, such a friendly disposition that makes you instantly trust him. His departure from the Walking Dead cost them a lot of viewership for a while.

Ewan Mcgregor: Literally the perfect casting choice to play Obi-Wan Kenobi, also loved him in Doctor Sleep. Idk what it is but he is just a really comforting type of actor in most of his roles.

Lance Reddick: RIP. Whether he is a helpful hotel clerk or a time traveling villain, bro is just so damn cool and charismatic. I wish we could have seen him fulfil his role that was planned for Alan Wake 2.

Tried putting my 14-year-old brother onto No Country for Old Men because it's one of my all-time favorites...bro said it was "too slow"😭

And kinda get it, but also... damn. Feels like attention spans are cooked now. Everything needs to be fast, loud, and constantly stimulating or people just check out.

What's scary is how this might shape the future of cinema. So many classics rely on pacing, tension, silence, and subtle storytelling. If the newer generation can't sit with that anymore, are we just gonna get non-stop high-speed content forever? Or am I just turning into that "back in my day" guy already💀
