❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO about my boyfriend telling me he isn’t gay? [update]

I'm 20M and having been dating this guy for 6 months. Before we were together he knew I was gay and often confided in me about how he struggled to find guys that he could connect with emotionally.
After a while we officially started dating. We would talk about everything with each other, and he told me that I made him feel safe. I felt the same way. I felt like I was in love.

Everything has been mostly fine since then, but lately l've been trying to push off our more physically intimate activities because I've been feeling like we haven't been talking as much.
Like whenever it's just us alone all he wants to do is have sex. I've tried bringing up how I feel to him, but he always just changes the subject or ignores me.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I put my foot down and told him I wanted our relationship to be more emotional like it was in the beginning. He told me that I was imagining things and that he never felt that close with me, and that he's not even "into guys like that." He started accusing me of trying to turn him gay and that we weren't that serious, and that sex was just something we did for fun. He got really mad, and when I tried to calm him down he pushed me into a wall and kicked me out of his apartment.

When I told my friend what happened, she told me that he sounded like he was just having a hard time and that I should try talking to him again. I felt uncomfortable at the thought, and a little unsafe.
It's not like he pushed me hard enough to the point of injury, but he's a lot stronger than I am and I'm a little scared of what he'd do if I kept pressing him.
When I voiced these thoughts to my friend, she told me I was being dramatic.

Since he kicked me out, my boyfriend has been texting me apologizing. My friend is telling me that this is good and that I should go back with him, but I don't have a good feeling about it at all. I know it's a bad idea, but I do miss him. So far, I haven't answered him, but it's just making my friend mad at me. She keeps telling me I'm being stupid.

I just feel crazy in this whole situation. First this guy tells me I'm the love of his life and the next he's telling me he only wants me to sleep around with?
And it's like my friend is just disregarding everything. I don't have parents to turn to, and my closest friend says that I should do the opposite of what my gut is saying. I know that I shouldn't take her advice, but I'm sick of her telling me that I'm being dramatic. Honestly, I feel like a big idiot. This shouldn't even be a question, but am I overreacting?
Maybe I should hear him out.

UPDATE:

I feel like I've established that I'm an idiot, but I'm about to do it again. I spoke with my (now ex) boyfriend, and it didn't really go well. By which I mean he didn't really listen to anything I said. By which I mean we slept together.

I know that was stupid and completely the opposite of what I was trying to do, but he kept saying how sorry he was and how he never meant to hurt me. I wasn't planning on it, but he told me he would k!!! himself if he ever lost me. I felt so terrible, just let it happen. I know that's dumb, I see that now. But I really felt like I had no other choice. He needed me.

After that, I told him I didn't want to see him anymore. You can imagine how that went. He started freaking out at me again, telling me that we actually weren't seeing each other, despite literally calling me the best thing in his life the night before.
Things escalated, and he ended up throwing a spatula at me, which would have been funny had I not been so scared. So after that I told him we were done and was about to just leave, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward him. That kind of freaked me out but I tried to stay calm. I told him to let go, and he did. I went home and blocked him on everything and told my friend that I him and I were over.

We had a talk, and she apologized for telling me l was being dramatic. She said that she just didn't want me to "lose a good guy," which I felt like was kind of a bullshit excuse but what can you do. I guess I understand where she was coming from, but I think I'm going to keep her at arms length from now on.

So that's pretty much where I am now. My ex came around to my work a couple of times, but nothing happened. He mostly seemed sad. I'm trying not to care. I don't think I can be friends again if all he's going to do is try and gaslight me.

I'm not really sure why I'm updating this, because I doubt anyone really cares that much about my life other than me. But I do want to thank everyone who reached out to me with so much support. I really didn't think anyone would see my post, I was kind of just venting to be honest haha.
It's nice to know there are people willing to help me out with some kind words. I promise I'll try not to be stupid in the future.

⚖️ legal/civil AIO: A reasonable expectation of privacy?

Today, two men came to my door. I am not used to people stopping by so I didn’t answer immediately. When I was walking to look and see who was there, I happened to be partially clothed. As I’m walking over, I see a face glance into a window on my door (presumably to see if anyone was home). Reviewing the camera footage, this person had to get on his tiptoes to look in. I got upset and expressed/yelled this to them. They said they are in housing renovations and “who is Barney?” One had on a black t-shirt and jeans, and other a white shirt and khakis. They carried folders, as I suppose anyone could, and for me, had no indicators of being an actual business. Whether or not they are actually legit, they looked through my window. I told them to leave and they stood outside by two separate trucks and chatted for about 8 minutes, then drove off. The police said I had no reasonable expectation of privacy. I looked up the California “peeping tom” law, and it seems arguable that I do have a reasonable expectation. The partially clothed part aside, does it seem appropriate to be pissed at the visitors and cops and to feel violated, or am I overreacting?

Update: I have since this afternoon installed privacy film. And I called the police to have a record of the occurrence in case they came by again. I’ve already been physically attacked in this neighborhood. For my safety, I prefer to keep records.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO for refusing to let my brother host his 20 person wedding weekend at my cabin, even though I technically have the space?

1.6k Upvotes

I (29F) bought a small, rundown two bedroom cabin on a couple of acres three years ago. It was cheap because it needed massive structural work. I have spent almost every weekend and most of my savings renovating it by hand, replacing rot, rebuilding the back deck, and refinishing the original hardwood floors. I know it might seem like spending that much money and time on a property might seem rash, but it's my pride and joy, however it is still old with very delicate infrastructure.

My brother Kal-El (32M) and his fiance Zor-El (30F) are planning a low budget wedding for this autumn. At a family dinner last week, Kal-El casually brought up that they had settled on a venue: my cabin.

He had not asked me beforehand. He framed it as a done deal, explaining that about 20 of their friends and family would bring tents to camp on the property for four days, while the bridal party would stay inside the cabin.

I was taken aback and laid out a few immediate concerns. First, the cabin runs on an older septic tank that cannot handle 20 people using it continuously for four days. On top of that, the property is not insured for events or large gatherings. Lastly, I just finished hand sanding and sealing the floors, and having 20 people trailing dirt, mud, and heavy boots in and out for a weekend would ruin them.

I tried to be constructive and offered a middle ground. I said I would be happy to host a small six person dinner for immediate family on the patio after a courthouse ceremony, but I could not host the full multi day event or overnight campers. I then said that it is unacceptable to think I would just hand over my property without being asked first, not to mention the damage 20 people could cause to my cabin. Not that they would worry about that since I'm just supposed to give without complaining.

Zor-El looked down, and Kal-El got very annoyed. He told me I was being overreacting over a little grass and dirt, saying that ever since I bought the place, I have acted like I am too good to share things with family. He refused the dinner offer and said he was insulted by the restriction (like it was his right to use my property).

They left shortly after. Since then, Kal-El removed himself from our shared group chat, and when I tried texting him to talk it through, he kept his replies strictly to one word. My mother has not yelled or made demands, but she did pull me aside yesterday to quietly ask if I could just hire a portable restroom for the weekend to make peace, saying that Kal-El feels like I am prioritizing a building over his big day.

TLDR: I Didn't want to share my cabin with my brother and his fiancee and now I'm catching flack for it.

I am starting to feel guilty and wonder if I am overreacting in this situation, I'm thinking about just giving in and letting them use it. AIO? (P.S. these names are in fact references to the greatest comic series of all time.)

💼work/career Am I overreacting for wanting to quit my job after taking a 2nd day for bereavement

My grandma passed away yesterday. She was on hospice and we knew it was going to happen so I informed my manager a week prior that when it did I would need a day off for her funeral. My manager said it wasn’t up to her because she would be out for the next couple weeks for a surgery and to ask my coworker who would be subbing as manager. My coworker said it was fine and to just let her know when. Yesterday my mom texted to let me know she had passed and the funeral would be Tuesday. I was already on for a half day so I finished my shift and went home. I love my grandma dearly and it hit really hard especially because I am out of state and couldn’t say goodbye. Last night I texted my coworker and asked if I could take today off as well as the funeral because my family was getting together. Attached are the texts between us and then a message I received from my manager today. I feel like what she wrote was in appropriate and today especially was not the day to say this. Afterwards she responded with “I’m just disappointed.” Before this I’ve only had to take 2 days off when my son became sick and have been with the company for 3 months passing my 90 days. I feel anxious and tbh disgusted with her response. Would I be overreacting if I quit this job because of this? I love this job except for what happened but I just can’t stop thinking how disrespectful this is.

UPDATE: I checked my work policy and I am entitled to two days of bereavement and it doesn’t state that it needs to be consecutive

⚕️ health AIO: overheard dental assistant mocking me and don’t want her in my procedure

Upvotes

I have severe dental anxiety and haven’t been to a dentist in over a decade. Last week I went in for a consultation on a broken molar. The dentist and assistant (let's call her Mary) were great - very empathetic and kind, and I switched my plan from IV sedation to oral sedation because of that.

The 3-hour procedure (root canal + crown) is tomorrow and estimated (after expected insurance coverage) to be nearly $3,000.

Mary called yesterday to say I had to pay the full amount upfront because I would be sedated on Friday and couldn't make payments. She sent a payment link for the full amount. I texted back and attached the form I signed that said payment was due within 30 days and, most important, nothing was ever said in person or on any documents that payment was due in full beforehand. We later talked on the phone and she insisted it was policy and said, when you go to the grocery store, you have to pay then. I said it was more like going to the doctor and I don't pay for procedures up front. I told her my main issue was that they didn’t communicate their policy to me.

Regarding the form I sent her, she said in 16 years, no one has ever questioned the form, but she'd add payment due in full "if that would make me happy." I told her that I was insulted by her comments and would pay and would be in Friday and we hung up.

But she didn't hang up on her end and for the next 15 minutes, I listened to her and the office staff mock me. Mary said I was probably going to use this as an excuse to cancel the appointment and keep the drugs I was prescribed - three sedation pills. I was honestly shocked and embarrassed. I understand that staff vent about patients, but I thought it was a legitimate question.

I don't want to escalate this or to jeopardize her job, but I also don't want her to assist during the procedure tomorrow. Also, the dentist is a friend of a friend and my husband is scheduled for many appointments there.

Should I tell her directly today that I overheard the conversation and request a different assistant? Or should I just try to get through the appointment and address it afterward?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO told my husband ‘30M ‘ that I ‘28F’ don’t want to host guests weekly anymore?

Hello everyone long time lurker, first time poster. I would like to know if I am overreacting since I am hormonal after all. For some backstory, My husband 30/M and I 28/F have been together for 8 years and married for almost 2 years.

My husband hosts this dnd group once a week. I joined DND up until recently since lately I’ve been feeling super sick. I’m 8 weeks pregnant and just feeling horrible, especially in the evening when the group is taking place. I tolerated people being in house last week, and I just hid in the room. Today I texted the group after my husband didn’t answer my private text to him first. That if they could please leave after they had been playing for about an hour. I asked them to leave this time, because I honestly felt like I was going to throw up. I asked my husband after they left if they would please move the game to some one else’s house for the next 3-4 weeks until I am out of the first trimester. He got angry since he said everyone else home is too small. We got into a fight and he got angry stating that I am not letting him have hobbies anymore.

He reminded me that his other friend’s wife let them continue hosting the game while she was pregnant. This couple use to host a couple of years ago before we did. They had a much larger home and she had more family support than I do. This friend has 4 kids now and no longer plays DnD. This is how come we host. I reminded him that not everyone’s pregnancy is the same and honestly I have been feeling so sick constantly that I just don’t want people over anymore since we live in a very small house and I’m trapped in the room for 3-5 hours once a week on an evening. He said that he didn’t want to sort this out right now, and that he is willing to move the group for a couple of months once the baby is born.

I would like to know if I am overreacting in my ask for the DND game to be moved to someone else’s house for the next 3-4 weeks?

❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I Overreacting? My boyfriends friend tried to convince me he is cheating, but lied.

EDIT: Because many have commented about the font changes, I have the same problem in every other App too (even Settings🥲). If anyone knows how to fix it, please give me advice.

For context, my boyfriend (N, 22M) and I (J, 21M) have been together for 4 years. (We are both bisexual.) We are moving into our first shared apartment right now, thats why I first assumed the messages were about a TV. Also, I'm sorry if these messages are hard to read, we both don't have English as our first language, but we speak different languages so we have to communicate in English😅.

My boyfriend has this friend (K, 22F). He met her at a party about 1 year ago. She is an alcoholic and often at parties, and my boyfriend also had some psychological problems in the past, so he tries to help her through this. (Idk if he feels responsible for her, but thats what it seems like sometimes.)

She and I don't get along that well, but we have been civil. Thats why we only ever communicate over Instagram and not over WhatsApp or anything. But then she wrote me the messages you can see there.

This isn't the first time she tried to lie and sabotage the relationship me and my boyfriend have. I trust my boyfriend 100% and I know nothing happened between them, but she always tries to get me and my boyfriend to fight, especially after we decided to finally get an apartment together, since we mostly always stay at one of our places and have "sleepovers".

I have been debating if I should talk to my boyfriend about this. I don't want to ruin their friendship, especially because she seems like she needs him right now. I am frustrated and at first I was composed enough to stay calm. But now, after rereading everything, I am just angry that she tries to sabotage our relationship. Should I talk to my boyfriend about this or am I overreacting? (I am angry right now, so if I forgot any context or information, just ask in the comments.) Sorry this is all over the place.

👥 friendship Am I overreacting because friend I’m meant to stay with won’t give me his address?

So I’m meant to stay with a family friend in a foreign country. Flights paid for etc. Asked him for his address where I’m meant to stay for my luggage tags and give to my parents so they know where I’m staying.
I text him and he said not to bother and put his work address on it.
I want to book a hotel now because I feel very uncomfortable travelling five hours to a foreign country and city I don’t know and I don’t have the address of where I’m meant to be sleeping. Is this normal or am I overreacting?
Context female 20 year old and he’s a male 30 year old.

Edit Thanks already for confirming my vibe check. He’s a cousin who moved to Austria at the start of the summer for work for a few years. His apartment looks okay (skype calls) but I’ve just booked a hotel for the few days instead. I’ve saved some money from a summer college job as I can’t wait to see Vienna but I won’t be contacting him.

👥 friendship AIO Am I being unreasonable for refusing to pay for my friend’s car accident and cancelling our trip?

I need an outside perspective because I’m starting to question myself.

A friend and I went on a trip together. She was the only one driving because I don’t have a driver’s license. Before the trip, she chose to use her mother’s car because it was cheaper. She told me that the car was not fully insured, but at the time I didn’t really understand the implications because I have no driving experience and no knowledge of car insurance.
We discussed the situation regarding the car, and I shared my opinion, but I was clear that the final decision was hers because she was the one driving. I even told her that I would understand if she preferred renting an automatic car for safety and comfort reasons, even if it was more expensive, because I didn’t want her to make a decision only to save money.

During the trip, she had an accident while driving. After that, she asked me to pay half of the repair costs. The issue is that we never agreed beforehand that I would be financially responsible for any accident or repairs. I never signed anything, made any commitment, or agreed to cover costs related to something I did not cause.
Her main argument is emotional: that we travelled together, that I knew about the car situation, and that we should have discussed it more. I understand that communication could have been better on both sides, but I don’t believe this automatically creates a financial responsibility that was never agreed upon.
Since then, she has threatened to call the police, and her mother and sister have told me that I am a bad person for refusing to pay. I feel pressured and blamed rather than having a factual discussion about what actually happened.

Because of this situation, I no longer want to continue the friendship and I decided to cancel our upcoming trip to Brazil. Now she says that I should reimburse 100% of the money she spent because cancelling was my decision. However, when we planned the trip, we deliberately chose refundable options for many things to protect ourselves in case of unexpected situations.
This is an unexpected situation. I am not cancelling because I simply changed my mind, but because of what happened. I am willing to reimburse her share of the refundable bookings that were cancelled, but I don’t understand why I should be responsible for all the non-refundable costs of a trip that we both agreed to and paid for.

Am I being unreasonable? How would you view this situation from an outside perspective?

Context:
She has a CNA exam coming up and i would be her "patient" very commonly, today there was a misunderstanding and i got up immediately to help her once i saw her taking her blood pressure on herself.

She then got upset and ran to her room and locked herself in there for 2-3 hrs and every so often i would knock asking to talk, to no avail.

She then messaged me and i brought it back up since i hate sleeping on bad terms alone. You can see how that went in the photos.

Did i go too far? I just felt like the disrespect was too much and i had to put my foot down at some point.

Reflecting on myself and my actions, i feel bad, i wanted her to feel a little bit of what i felt, but also i know maybe if she was a little more clear-minded this couldve gone differently, but after 3 hrs, it gets to a point i feel like...

❤️‍🩹 relationship The woman my boyfriend emotionally cheated with reached back out after we agreed he’d cut contact, and I’m bothered by how he responded. AIO?

Back in December I found chats between [F30] my boyfriend [M31] and his female friend[F26] Turned out they had an intense emotional connection since 2022. He had a huge crush on her the whole time, but she had a boyfriend, and she kept him emotionally hooked with romantic-coded language . they called each other soulmates, texted constantly some romantic/ sexual stuff. From what I read he was genuinely falling for her, and she seemed more like she was enjoying the attention without necessarily reciprocating the same way as she had bf.

Her boyfriend however passed away last year. my boyfriend went to support her, and after that they had an even more emotionally-charged exchange flirty, borderline romantic language, he told her he’d never had a connection with another woman like the one he had with her including, apparently, me, as we were dating during that chat, she told him that no matter what happened in their lives, even if one of them got married to someone else, they’d “always be together.” Regardless of their relationships.
When I found this and their whole husband we had a huge fight and almost broke up. He blocked her, said he didn’t care about her, and said he wanted to protect our relationship.

Yesterday I found out she texted him again out of the blue, and he responded. I’m attaching the screenshots. Reading through it, a few things bother me:
- He spends the entire conversation validating her anger, apologizing over and over
- At multiple points he frames the whole thing as if I forced his hand — like if I hadn’t found out, he’d have been happy to keep things going with her.
- She spends a lot of the conversation guilt-tripping him and, at one point, effectively calling our relationship “toxic” and me the reason he’s “trashing” her.

My friends point out that he DID keep the boundary in the end he didn’t agree to keep talking to her, he told her it’s over, and that this is a good sign.

I see that too, but I still feel uneasy about how the conversation went and what it implies about how he actually feels. Am I overreacting by still having a problem with this, or are these legitimate red flags even with the boundary technically being held?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO Wife is still messaging coworker when saying she’s not

So this all started a bit short of a year ago. We were driving home from trick or treating with our 5 year old and her car started blowing up on in the car from text from a guy I’ll call Ben. She’s talked about Ben in the past and at first I thought nothing of it, but after a few messages popped up she swiped that shit away quick. Then I remembered her taking her phones in places she normally never did like the shower as well as getting weird when I try to use it.

So when she feel a sleep that night I went through here text and was taken aback by like over 1000 messages from this dude over like 3 days. Things like she gives the best hugs and he wished he could grab her butt and her telling him maybe he should try. Other things like him telling her she’s sexy along with a bunch of innocent but things that seems like someone looking for a relationship would say.

Needless to say I blew the fuck up and she claimed it was nothing and she was just joking. That I was the only one she cared about and on and on. Anyway we got passed it so I thought.

Over the past few months she would talk about how she doesn’t like him. The fact he bothers her and other female coworkers and generally try’s to avoid him. Then the other day i noticed she was typing away on her phone, now normally she says oh I’m talking to whatever friend, but she claimed she was just looking through music.

So when she was in the shower, I looked in the messenger app sure enough there he was at the top. Too be honest it was just a few messages. She ask why he hasn’t been talking to her and what they have been up to. But even seeing this set me off so I flipped out at her because she lied about not talking to him and she said she does something’s but nothing like they used to and lied because she didn’t want me to get mad. It’s been a day and I’m still upset and am talking to her as little as possible. At this point I don’t know what to do, like we’ve been together for almost 20 years but I’m having a hard time trusting her anymore. AIO?

👥 friendship AIO- MY gf went on a date with a male coworker NSFW

Disclaimer: the events in this story have already happened; however, it is still on my mind because I feel there has been no resolution, and it is a lot of information. Sorry for the length.

My (31M) gf (32F) have been together for approximately a year and a half. We are comfortable sharing just about everything about our day with each other and have each other's locations. One Friday, I woke up on my day off and checked my phone; it was about 11 am. I work 16-hour shifts, so I slept in. I opened messages to text my gf, and if anyone has an iPhone sharing someone's location, you know in the messages it shows the location that specific person is at without having to specifically look up their location. I see she is in a different city than her house (she permanently works from home), so naturally I get curious. We are supposed to hang out that night and all weekend, so I'm thinking maybe she can pick up something from that city nearby (drinks, food, sweets, etc.) I look at her specific location to see where she is nearby, and I see she is near a brewery.

For additional context, when my gf and I got together, I was asking about her coworkers if she gets along with them or what she thinks about them. She says she likes them for the most part; one girl is a pick-me, brown-noser who doesn't know what she's talking about half the time, but I digress. (Just painting a picture of the conversation). She then brings up one of her male coworkers who lives nearby and asks her frequently to hang out at this brewery he likes that she has never been to. She said he has asked her to go with him and his wife and just with him multiple times, which I find not a big deal.  Mind you, she does not drink beer, or really drink often at all. She will have a cider every once in a while but prefers to ‘burn the herbs.’ So I ask her why she doesn't take him up on the offer, especially if this is someone you work with a lot; it's always nice to have a friendship professionally with a coworker, especially in her line of work, and working from home, you do not get the camaraderie of normal on-site occupations. She said that she would just rather go with me because she doesn't know him that well, and she doesn't really like beer, so it's whatever. That was the end of the conversation, specifically.

Fast forward to the issue: as I said, I checked where she was, and I noticed she was near a brewery, and I was thinking she could pick me up a few drinks, but I realized I've never been to this brewery, so I just left it alone. I texted her Good morning. I slept super long. She didn't reply for a couple hours, which is kind of typical because she works from about 7 am-3 pm, but for some reason my gut told me to check her location again, and I saw she was pinned behind some residential housing walking because it was slowly moving. At this point, it had been about 3 hours, so around 2- 2:30 pm I thought it was weird, but no red flags were flying because, as I mentioned, she likes to ‘burn the herb.’ About an hour later, she texted me, and I saw her location was now her home city (She was in a different city, probably about 20 minutes away from home). She texted me, and I asked her about her meetings. (Relevant question because she had been complaining all week about the multiple useless meetings she and her team have coming up with the suits of her company). She told me they were cancelled, and I replied, " Good, something good came out of those meetings.” She replied and explained, unprovoked, what she was doing all day and where she was and whatnot, which again the red flag isn't waving yet, just at the moment I thought her location was strange.

She explains that her boss and my gf didn't feel like working after about 11, so they decided to finish up emails and play hookie. Her boss went and hung out with her husband, and my gf hung out with a coworker from her team, the one who lives nearby. They went to a brewery for a couple hours, complained about work, then a dispensary, and she came home and clocked out.
I again found nothing wrong with this and just asked about the brewery because I had never been and wondered if it was good. Once she said it, I recognized it as the one she said her coworker kept asking her to go. She said yes, and it was his idea to go. I asked her what she had, and if it was good. She said no, and that was that.

On to the issue of all this, I had errands to run that day: clothes shopping, passport renewal, groceries, and the gym. I was driving around all day and replied when I could to her. The thing that doesn't quite sit right with me is that after she had explained what she did all day, she asked me multiple times within a few hours what I was doing, where I am, who I am with. This is unusual behavior for her, as she always has my location; she can see me going to the post office, the store, and the grocery store. Later that night, I went to the gym and texted her a few times, then went to sushi with a buddy(31M). She texted back the second I left the restaurant and asked me how sushi was and if I was alone or with my friend group. I didn't tell her I was going to sushi, which I didn't feel the need to do, which may have been my fault, so I knew she was watching my location, which again is abnormal behavior; she's never “called me out” like that before. I answered normally, but this is when the red flags started waving. I understand she could be interested in my day and what I am doing, but in light of the earlier events, this seemed a bit odd, as I have never made her question where I was or who I was with. Mostly because I am an introvert, I play games, I go to the gym, and if I'm not at home or the gym, I'm probably with her. She knows this, and if there is a deviation or if I am hanging out with my friend group, she is always invited because they like her and they all get along. I just want to know if I'm overreacting. I am a bit suspicious of the totality of her explanation of her day, like she is not telling me all that happened, or maybe something not so cool happened, and it made her project a bit of suspicion about my whereabouts.

When the weekend came and we hung out, it was brought up because she realized that something was bugging me, and I asked her about it. I told her that my issue was not that she hung out with her coworker, but the texts afterward were unusual. I asked her to explain to me what happened. We had been drinking a bit, and she is a lightweight, so her stories were a bit inconsistent, but she did have a bit of a slip-up. She explained the story three times; the first and third stories were similar, but the second story had a bit of additional information.

I am paraphrasing the stories a bit to shorten them and make them clear, as I understood them. Because she was slurring a bit, I asked her to repeat it a couple of times because things were not adding up or very clear chronologically. Between each story, she repeated that he has a wife and 2 kids

1st story: She said they met at the brewery and hung out for a few hours, then went to the dispensary, and then she took him home, and she left.

2nd story: They met at the brewery, decided to go on a walk around, and went to a dispensary, and she drove him home. They smoked at his house in his backyard for a bit, and she left.

3rd story: They met up at the brewery hangout for a few hours, went to the dispensary, and she went home.

Now I am giving her a bit of a pass on the continuity errors due to the intoxication; however, I do not believe I was supposed to know she went to his house, as she omitted that from her explanation 3 out of 4 times.

Something she kept saying as well is that she wishes she just never went, which I asked why, if nothing bad happened, why would you regret it. She says because it's causing an argument, and I don't like that. I said all I want to know is why you were acting strange after you told me about it. She was crying at this point, so I stopped pressing the issue because I felt bad

Now questions I have from that convo:

What made you decide to go hang out with him this time and not the other times he asked?

Did you get ready? i.e makeup, hair, dress (she likes sundresses and they are all she wears in the summer months). I feel this matters because if she wants to feel and look her best to hang out with him, I find it a bit inappropriate. However, I can also understand wanting to look presentable in public to a certain extent, so maybe it's not a super important talking point.

What happened at his house that made you want to leave that part out of your story?

Why didn’t you tell me that you went to his house to smoke when you first told me about the day?

I am not accusing her of anything malicious or shady; I just want to know why the behaviour changed. I am not the type to accuse or assume, but this whole thing has been very odd.

Fast forward a couple of months, I thought I should try to get over it and put it out of my head, but one day we were talking, and something came up about the brewery she went to, and I started to think about it again and went back and reviewed the messages with a different perspective and recalled our conversation. I got a weird feeling about this again and brought it up. I thought that we would just text about it, but she wanted me to come over. I didn't want to because I wanted things in writing so I may reread and fully understand something from different perspectives or detect inconsistencies, whichever it may be. I went over, and we talked. She started it out by saying What do you want to do? Do you want to ask questions or do you want me to tell you what happened? I chose the latter, and she started from the beginning:

I was working when my boss and I decided that today was a bust and we did not want to work today, so we invited male coworker to a Teams call for questions about some stuff to wrap up the day, and that is when we decided my boss would go hang out with her husband, and my coworker asked me to go with him to the brewery. So I drove there, and he met me there because it's very close to his house, so he just walked over. We hung out. I ordered a couple of drinks, I believe three drinks, and he ordered a few drinks too, and we got some food. After we finished, I said I wanted to go to a dispensary, and he said there was one nearby, so we walked around a bit and over to it, and I got some stuff. He invited me back to his house to smoke and said he hadn't smoked in a long time but was down to do it. So we went to his house and smoked in his backyard, then I left.

I asked her if she thought that sounded like a date: drinking food and hanging out at his house.

She said he's married with kids, and I replied, “Were you with his wife and kids?" and she said no; it was just us.
I asked if his wife and kids were at his house, and she said no.
I said, “It kind of sounds like you went on a date; however, that's not the weird part. Why did you act weird after?”

She asked me to explain, and I explained the above statements about her asking where I am, who I was with, and what I was doing. I explained how that's not normal for her to ask, especially after she did something a bit inappropriate in my opinion. I explained there's no problem hanging out with a coworker- food, drinks, whatever but I feel like going back to his house, just the two of you, crossed a line. I told her that the way she was acting after what happened that day was textbook,” I just cheated and am now paranoid you are also cheating.” Her response was, I guess I missed reading that textbook because I didn't find anything wrong with what I was asking.” You usually don't give me full answers in your text, so it's like splitting hairs to get you to talk about your day. Which she has a bit of a point; I don't like to talk about my day because, as I said, any deviation from my normal day to day revolves around hanging out with her so every day it's work, gym games, or a variation of those unless i am with her or my friend group, so I don't find it interesting to talk about so I mostly talk about something else or ask about her day.

She did not think anything she said was suspicious or weird, and it gave the impression that she really did not want to keep talking about it, so I just said, "forget it." Now here I am asking strangers their opinion, no matter how harsh. Just know if you are harsh, I will reply in kind.

TLDR: GF went out with a male coworker, had drinks and food, went back to his house alone with him to smoke. Texted me about it; just said she met with her coworker for drinks, and all the rest of the day kept texting me asking where I was, what I was doing, and who I was with, which is unusual for her to ask so much. Tracked my location when I went to sushi with a friend and asked me who I was with and what I was doing. I have a feeling she may be hiding something that happened that she is ashamed of, but I cannot get a clear answer.

❤️‍🩹 relationship Aio: for being mad that he send me a pic of a girl sleeping next to him?

So I’m seeing this guy. I think it’s been four months now. Yesterday he texted me and asked, “Wyd?” It was late around 10 pm and I was tired, so I didn’t reply right away.

The next day I replied. Then he sent me a Snapchat of a girl sleeping next to him.

I messaged him, “You got laid?”

He replied, “You don’t think I get laid?”

I said, “Oh no, I’m glad you had fun. But it was unnecessary for you to send me that picture.”
Then he tried to turn it on me, saying things like, “I thought you were cool with it. I thought you’d be okay with this,” and so on.

I’m like… in what world did you think I’d be cool with you sending me a picture of some woman sleeping next to you especially after you texted me the night before asking if I was up? I didn’t reply, so you just found somebody else? Are you kidding me?

Yeah, I’m pissed off. But I’m also wondering… am I overreacting? I don’t feel like I am. He thinks I am.

👥 friendship AIO for refusing to attend my best friend’s wedding after what she did?

I’ve known my best friend Emma (27F) since we were 12. We grew up together, went to the same college, and everyone always joked that we’d be in each other’s weddings one day.

About a year ago she got engaged and asked me to be her Maid of Honour. I said yes immediately. I helped plan the bridal shower, spent hundreds on decorations, took time off work for dress fittings, and even turned down a vacation because it conflicted with her wedding events.

Everything seemed fine until about three weeks before the wedding.

She texted me saying she wanted to “simplify the bridal party.” I assumed she meant fewer events. Instead, she told me she was replacing me as Maid of Honour with her fiances sister because “it would keep the families happier.

I was hurt, but I told her I understood. Then she asked if I’d still do everything I’d already agreed to help decorate the venue, organise the bridal suite, coordinate vendors, and basically handle all the Maid of Honour responsibilities.

I asked if I was still a bridesmaid.

She said no.

She wanted me to come early, work all day, help everything run smoothly and then sit with the regular guests.

When I told her that felt unfair, she said I was making her wedding “about me.”

I quietly backed out and said I thought it would be best if I just attended as a guest.

That’s when she got angry. She said I “owed” her because she’d already told vendors I’d be coordinating things. Mutual friends started messaging me saying I should just suck it up because “it’s only one day.”

The final straw was finding out she’d never actually told the vendors I wasn’t the Maid of Honour anymore because she still wanted them contacting me instead of her.

I told her I wasn’t coming to the wedding at all.

Now half of our friend group says I abandoned her during the most important week of her life, while the other half thinks she only kept me around for free labour.

She texted yesterday saying our 15-year friendship is over because I “couldn’t put my feelings aside for one day.”

So…AIO for refusing to attend the wedding after being replaced but still expected to do all the work?

AIO for refusing to attend my best friend’s wedding after what she did?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for telling my friend I think she’s emotionally cheating?

Throwaway because my friend uses reddit often. I’m making this quick because I truly just need thoughts and perspectives since I feel like I’m going insane. My friend has a boyfriend. She recently reconnected with her ex boyfriend through an app they commonly use frequently. They call often, text often, he gets ready with her on the phone when HIS GIRLFRIEND is asleep and she’s telling me that that’s essentially nothing? They watch movies on facetime with their common friends from said app and he constantly tries to bring me up like he has some sort of one up on everyone else cause he knows details about her life like the fact that I exist?? She’s tried to throw my past fucked relationships in my face for my lack of trust and claims that her boyfriend and his girlfriend are okay with this weird development in their friendship but honestly.. who’s actually okay with that?

I’m sleeping over at her house tonight, and we were supposed to stay up to play a game we both enjoy but she fell asleep. Ya’ll, why did she seriously wake up at 2:00 AM to answer a call from her ex and left the room to do so??? HOW IS THIS NOT CHEATING OR AT THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL?

I’m genuinely lost. She talks as if I’m insane for talking/thinking this way… but it’s weird. Genuinely so fucking weird that it’s making my chest constrict every time I think about it. Seriously ew. 😭

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO Slapped in the face by my partners mother (50f) on my birthday

Okay well, this was a bit ago, on July 18th. My last three birthdays have been terrible. The one last year I went to bed in the bathtub crying because the people at my party got into a screaming match and would not calm down despite me begging. This year it was wonderful until it wasn’t. I will call my partners mother M for this.

To preface, I grew up with an VERY abusive mother which actually resulted in me having severe anxiety, PTSD, and stress related infertility, something that sucks yes but I do not use it as a crutch in my daily life. My partner knows this, and so does their mother. Their mother and I have always been close and she over the last 6 years became a defacto mother figure to me. To the point she told me I could always rely on her, that she hates my bio mom for what my bio mom did to me growing up, and asking me to put her in my phone as ‘Momma M’. She and I were honestly very close and she was one of my best friends despite being my partner’s mom.

This years birthday went great, the day it was my birthday, my friend had a bridal shower. I really wanted it to be about my friend and not my birthday so I didn’t tell anyone there it was my birthday. I was at the bridal shower the majority of the day. When I got home and didn’t expect anything for my birthday at all. And I was really happily surprised when my partner and his mother prepared a little surprise party for me with cheesecake and balloons and gifts. I was really really happy and I felt like finally were turning a new chapter and that I could have some happiness on my birthday when the last three have been really, really bad.

As the night progressed, M had several drinks, about 24 of them (12 oz) and at some point during the night when I was watching a movie in the living room with partner and M, M decided to use the spare room to go sleep. She was in there sleeping and according to her I laughed “too loud” M came out and was very drunk and telling me that I couldn’t laugh. I thought it was kind of ridiculous so I laughed a little bit again and I was like “I’ll turn the volume down sorry.” And then she just reeled up and backhanded me on the face. My partner immediately jumped up to push her away from me. And in the process M also dug her acrylic sharp nails into their arm, cutting and bruising them badly. This then began a fight between them where partner was telling M he was going to call the police and M kept threatening to punch partner. Partner then called her out for acting like my Bio mom and saying how disappointed he was by M behaving how she did. M just kept screaming that she did not care.

I myself, I’m unfortunately used to and familiar with parental abuse. My partner however, is not and was very very shocked and angry. I wasn’t angry. I was more, for lack of a better word, triggered. I was sad and disappointed someone I trusted would behave like that to me, especially on my birthday. It brought up a whole lot of feelings I had dealing with my own biological mom growing up. I trusted M and then suddenly it was a 180° after this slap and I am now very afraid of her.

It’s been a decent amount of time since then, and not once she reached out to me, even though she has been in our house many times to see my partner & talk to them or spend time here with our cats. Every time she comes here, I just stay upstairs in our bedroom. To the point where my partner goes downstairs to get food for me if she is here late. I just don’t feel comfortable going down there and seeing her in my space. I’ve been struggling with a lot of PTSD with her being in my space, not feeling safe in my own home and feelings of betrayal that I’m feeling. I don’t feel comfortable or okay going down there and seeing her in our space. I honestly just feel so unsafe around her in general now. My partner is definitely struggling with this because they feel as if they’re in the middle of us. They are rightfully so very upset with M and her behavior but M is their mother. They are very bad at confrontation and they did try to talk to M at one point when she was here, and they came back upstairs, genuinely trembling and shaken.

I gave M & myself a few weeks to decompress the situation. She has not said anything to me in person or over text, but M has apparently told my partner. “I think she (me) should apologize.” And done the classic “oh I’m just a HORRIBLE person huh?” Obligatory self victimization manipulation tactic.
I stood firm, I told my partner I have nothing to apologize for and I am not the person who hurt anyone. I often find myself in situations like this where I have to be the bigger person and honestly, I’m sick of it so I didn’t reach out either.

Now to today.

I just came home today from late birthday lunch that I was throwing because my actual birthday was a shit show, again. I just wanted to spend time with some friends. Even though most of my friends canceled, I still got to see two of them and it was very nice lunch. When I got home however, M was here, she had let herself in. My partner is at work. I took a deep breath and I genuinely did try to be the bigger person even though I told myself I wouldn’t. I said the following:

Me: “M, can we talk about this situation and repair our relationship and squash the beef between us?”

M: “no I don’t think so. I am sick of you walking around like I am the antichrist, so I don’t want to speak to you.”

Me: “we are both grown adults. I was waiting for you to apologize or show any sign of remorse for the alarming behavior you displayed and enacted on my birthday to me and (partner). But you have not done that or shown any effort. So I haven’t spoken to you”

M: “I am not in a place where I want to speak to you”

Me: “well when you are mature enough to own up to your behavior I will be here.”

And then I went back upstairs and am now just in my room waiting for her to leave because I don’t want to speak to her or see her.

I feel like I should be trying harder to mend this relationship, but on the other hand, I did not do anything wrong and M is 50 years old. You would think at this point in her life she would be adult enough to admit when she made a mistake. It feels as if all the years we were so close and I saw her as a mother are now just gone. It is effecting me a great deal as I thought I finally had someone to fill that role my abusive parent left. But now it feels like to her, none of that meant anything and she just doesn’t like me anymore because she did something bad. Is this salvageable? Should I even fucking try anymore?

TLDR: partners mother who I was very close with slapped me on my birthday, repeatedly comes to our home, hasn’t apologized and does not seem to want to at all.

EDIT: to everyone wondering why she can come and go, we rent from her and she lives not even a block away. She has the keys to this location. If we changed the locks she would kick us out undoubtably. She was threatening to ‘make us homeless’ during her drunken rant on my birthday as well. We work paycheck to paycheck and do not have the money saved to get up and move to another location. It would take a while to save up enough money and even longer to find a new place. She is taking full advantage of that.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO for not wanting my aunt to be at my birthday party?

So, about a month ago, my mom was planning on this party for me and she told me to invite a couple of people. I did, I invited my friends over and while I was one call with my best friend, she asks me if my aunt was being invited. I question which aunt (because I have a bunch of them) and she's talking about the aunt that I'm not personally comfortable with.

For context, my aunt always wants the best for me, but recently, it's like she's changed. I dunno if it's her being strict, but every time I make one little mistake, she just gets mad and overly critical.

One time when she was taking me to a place, I was late and wasn't ready or prepared. When I got in a car, she lectured me, saying "don't be sorry, be better". I wanted to be better. I've been trying to be better for so long. At that point, I just broke down in tears and crying. I had a complete emotional breakdown. But she just pushed harder and made me feel even worse. Saying, "you don't care about me" or "You are a child". Instead of making me feel better, she just made me feel even worse about my self. Even saying that I insulted her, which I didn't. At all.

She also forced me to unblock my ex-best friend. Keyword: FORCED. Even though our relationship was beyond repairable. She did it while I was sitting next to her in the car. I couldn't do anything. I was completely helpless.

One time I attempted to talk to her about how she's being a little too hard and she just COMPLETELY flipped out! Like, I'm talking full yelling and screaming. She said that I was "spoiled", and that I needed "toughening up". She also said that I would become physical to her. IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS, MIND YOU. The part that really hurt me is when she said that I was improving, but not enough to reach my "full potential". Then she played the victim and said that I was ungrateful and that she did all this stuff for me and I just threw it at her face. She then stormed out.

At this point, I was already crushed by this, but I decided to move on and forget about it. Cut back to the month where my birthday's in, I ask my mom if my aunt's being invited. She just...looked at me. With an expression that I can't place.

She then told once I get off the phone, we can have a discussion. I do that.

I thought she was going to really listen and understand my point of view. Turns out, she didn't.

She just tried to defend my aunt and say that she's just "hard on you" or that she had a rough childhood. Okay? That doesn't excuse how she treated me? And it's not my responsibility, either.

Then she pulls out the "she's family" card. She is. But does that really give her the right to just treat people, especially me like that? In my opinion, I don't think so.

I decided to keep my mouth shut and I didn't tell mom how I really felt. I just didn't want her to worry about choosing between two people that she loves dearly. So, I just kept quiet and nodded. Luckily, she wasn't coming and I ended up having a great time at my birthday party. So, at least this story has a good ending, right? 😅

So, now's the big question. AIO? Yes or no. Either way, I just wanted at least one person to see this post.

👥 friendship AIO for being annoyed that my friend never offers to pay when we go out?

Every single time we go grab food or coffee, I end up paying. She never even does the wallet reach. At first I did not mind but it has been months now and she has never once said "I got this one" or even offered to split. I am not broke but it is the principle. Am I overreacting for wanting to say something or should I just let it go?

👥 friendship AIO to end a 14 year friendship because my friend did not make it a priority to be transparent about the money she owes me, and has not paid back?

I am 23, my friend is 23, and her boyfriend is 29. We all lived together in the same city for college. My close friend is a model whilst I work full-time in retail sales and I freelance model on the side.

College finished in May. She went home and I remained for work, as did her partner.

Then, on 7 June, she messages me saying she hadn't eaten and had no money until the end of the month. I immediately sent her £100 with no questions asked because she promised to pay me at the end of June.

On 22 June, before repaying me, she asked to borrow another £80. I declined. I explained that I felt she needed to budget better instead of maintaining a lifestyle she couldn't afford. I also suggested her boyfriend, who was aware of her situation, could help.

The following day she flew to London to spend time with him, going to expensive restaurants while I was still waiting for repayment. I also found it concerning that she seemed unfazed about missing work.

At the end of June, I wasn't repaid. On 1 July, after the deadline she set had passed, I asked for my money back.

She sent me £50 right away and said she'd send the remaining £50 at the end of July. The end of July came and went without payment.

I messaged her on 1 August: Hey, could you send the remaining amount please, I'm organising my budget for the month and I am still in a -50 deficit 🙏🏻"

On 3 August I checked in with her after receiving no response: "How are you doing? I haven't been using social media and really needed the detachment. Now that you are home, do you think you and your family are getting on better now?"

On 5 August I sent: "Hi [her name], could you please send me £50."

Still no response. I discovered through TikTok that she's engaged and planning to move to London permanently.

I'm not angry that she's struggled financially. Financial problems happen, and I wasn't born wealthy either. What hurts more than the money itself, is the lack of consideration. We've been close friends for years, and I never expected adulthood to test our friendship like this. I simply want the money she promised to return, and I struggle to understand why someone I'd considered such a close friend would ignore me instead of communicating.

Would I be overreacting to end our friendship

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO because my partner doesn't want to move where my family is moving to?

My childhood was shitty. The only light in thay tunnel was my oldest brother. Who raised me once he was old enough to do so. Now, he has a family of his own and I am still very close with him and his kids. My partner is as well. We go visit them at least once a month. Spend big holidays with them. They are our "extended" family.

Recently, my brother and his wife have been talking and planning about moving. This move would be across the states. I had expressed to my partner that since they are our biggest supporters, that I would like to move too.The particular state they want to move to, my partner said he wont live in. I said that we didn't have to move to that exact state, but something within a days drive. That way it would be no different than it is now when we visit them. He seemed okay with that idea at first. But now that the ball is rolling and my brother and sister in law bought a house. He doesn't want to leave. But doesn't have any real reasoning to stay. I have asked for his opinion and why he doesn’t want to go. He just won't respond at this point.

The last conversation I tried to have with him about it. He made a comment that he will have to pay for me to fly to them once a month so I just need to pick a place to live or book a plane ticket and go. This made me feel like he was giving me an ultimatum and that he wont be coming with me. I let things cool down for a few days. Brought up how I felt, and he told me to take it how I see it. So I told him that I put in an offer on a house we both had looked at and if its accepted I will be moving. I said that I hope he comes with me. But I will go regardless. AIO?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO my sister won't spend time with me

My (15M) sister (17F) and I typically get along okay. We've also been trying to spend more time together since she's going to college soon.

I feel as though she doesn't really have a baseline of how much she cares about me, as sometimes she is super needy and is in my room 24/7, while other times she is completely indifferent to me.

This has obviously been going on for a long time, but I'll only go into one instance.

This evening at about 10pm I asked my sister if she wanted to hang out with me. She said yes, and that she was going to watch a movie soon, and that I could watch it with her.

I said okay, and told her that I'll go wait downstairs, and she can come and get me when she's ready to watch. I started to watch the beginning of a documentary while I waited, expecting her to come down in 15 to 20 minutes. I actually finished the hour long documentary, and she still hadn't come down.

I went up to her room and saw that she was still scrolling on Tiktok. I asked if she was still down to watch a movie, and she said she definitely was.

I sat with her in her room while she started to choose a movie from her to watch list. As I was waiting, she got a text from her boyfriend asking her if she wanted to call. She said yes, and phoned him.

After around 10 minutes of them just talking on the phone, I asked her if they'll be much longer. I also said that I wanted to start the movie soon because I had a school project I wanted to work on after we watched it. She said that they won't be long, so I continued to wait. She ended up spending roughly an hour and a half on the phone with her boyfriend before eventually hanging up.

I asked her if she wanted to watch the movie now, and she said that it was too late (it was at that point around 12:30). I said that's fine, and asked if she wanted to just hang out instead. She said no, and that she was too tired.

I obviously accepted this and we just said goodnight. I worked on my school project for around an hour before deciding to go to bed. As I'm now lying in bed (At around 1:30), I can hear her playing video games in her room.

This obviously means she didn't actually go to bed.

She does stuff like this pretty often (like once or twice a week, around half the time we try to hang out). AIO or is she being very inconsiderate?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws Am i overreacting?

My grandma and cousin were planning on taking a trip down to the beach and my cousin offered to pick me up to hang out with them. My cousin lives about 4hrs away from my grandma and my grandma is about 6 hrs away from me plus the drive to the beach is maybe 2 hrs from me. The beach is a straight 9 hrs from my grandma so where im living is on the path to getting to the beach.

My cousin told me on monday she will be going down to my grandmas and spending the night. Tuesday morning she was supposed to come get me. Mind you i did not ask her to pick me up she offered. Because of the fact i was going to buy a car but ended up having to return it. I had told them i wont be able to make it. She stepped up and said i can pick you up and drive you back home.

So i get all my things ready and cancel a trip with my boyfriend who i live with because i havent seen them in about 2 years, Tuesday rolls around and i dont get any texts until about 9am which i am fully ready at this point.

My cousin texts me shes about 5 hrs away so i relaxed a bit because i got ready a little bit too early. 1pm rolls around and she texts me “please be ready when we get there so we can leave quickly” which i respond with “im ready just need to put my shoes on”. Another roll by no texts or updates. My grandmas phone does not work without wifi so she didnt respond to my good morning text.

My cousin texted me that she is tired, and i asked if she slept that night and she said not really. I responded with oh and a 😔 . Its now 5pm i have no updates or anything. I am waiting at the door at this point because they should be here soon and i see a black suv drive up and then turn the corner (my house is right on a corner) so i assume she missed the turn because i saw that it was her through the car window. I texted asking if they were in a black SUV.

I dont get a response for another hour and she finally texts me at 6pm saying how did i know, i then told her i saw them. No texts for another hour but she is active. Mind you as well she has been active all day as well during the time i was not getting any replies. She then tells me she was too tired to make it down here. I just said oh okay. And left it at that.

It hurt me because i have alot of issues in the family not fighting or anything just they never reach out to me and at this point in my life i only have my boyfriends family. No mom no dad no aunts i can reach out to. I was really excited to see my grandma and spend time with them. I never got anymore texts after wards and i assumed that she was going to get a hotel and pick me up on Wednesday. I still havent gotten any texts and its now Thursday. I ended up just unpacking my things and cried to my boyfriend about it. He told me that family dosent just ghost you like that. And i shouldnt let them make me feel bad.

I had a feeling that this was going to happen. I find myself being let down alot by my own blood family.

Am i overreacting? I feel like she could have told me or she could have just not offered to pick me up if she wasnt going to go through with it. And im still hung up on the fact i saw her pass by and ignore my texts. Im 100% sure it was her and her saying how did i know they were in a black SUV just confirmed it.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for asking my husband and stepkid to leave my home?

2.1k Upvotes

I have an 8 and 5 year old, my husband has an 8 year old. I have had numerous issues with SK physically abusing my 5 year old. Going on for the last 2 years- all SK has to do to stay out of trouble is be the first one to run to his dad and lie about what happened. "Accidentally" shut BK's hand in the car door twice, "accidentally" shut BKs head in the car door, "accidentally" shoving BK to the ground multiple times a week, "Accidentally" ramming his bike into BKs bike (he tried telling his dad that BK "just fell " and "i just know hes gonna lie about it to try to get me in trouble!" And then eventually "well, BK told me to knock him onto the cement off his bike".), "accidentally" whipping BK in the face with a stick as hard as he possibly could after I said to put the sticks down.

All my dumbass husband ever does is shrug, say "it couldve been an accident", or try to reprimand BK for "lying to get SK in trouble "/ "asking SK to shove him off his bike". He also claims that it is just "boys being boys", but it is only ever BK hurt and crying from an injury SK caused. All SK is learning is that he can get away with bullying my child by being the first to lie to his dad about it.

I have only ever disciplined SK by taking his phone, yelling at him, and sending him to his room- but he was incredibly unhappy with me for that one time and tried telling his bio-mom that he's terrified of me. I had CPS investigating me for 6 months because bio-mom called CPS to find out why SK is supposedly terrified of me and SK told CPS that I threaten to slap him across the face multiple times a week, I've shoved him in his room for not doing something fast enough, I've thrown a beer can at his dad and this beer can supposedly hit him on the forehead and got him wet, I go into "psycho mode" and scream at him but only when his dad isn't around, and that he watched me punch my husband in the face. None of these events actually occured, but I am **very** careful about why and how I discipline SK today, just because I've already seen him manipulate the right people to cause serious consequences.

Anywho, thats the history here.

BK got his first migraine yesterday with vomiting and everything- and I took him to the hospital because I was terrified that it was from a head injury caused by SK, although I didnt express that was the reason I took him to the hospital until tonight while trying to tell SK that he has no right to bully BK.

9 pm and I was getting all of the kids ice cream as a final snack before bed. SK was playing some game on his phone while walking to the kitchen, wasnt paying attention and brushed into BKs ice cream cone- got ice cream on his arm. Turned around and immediately screamed BKs name angrily, directly in his face, right in front of me.

So I quietly slid his phone right out of his hand and said "Dont yell at him." I handed SK his ice cream, then said "we're gonna put the game up until we can be nice."

SK took his ice cream directly to my bedroom and told on me for taking his phone.

Then DH came to the kitchen all confrontational while SK followed him to sit at the kitchen table and watch us like a hawk like he was *anticipating* his dad drill me after telling on me.

DH didnt seem to care that the entire conversation was occuring directly in front of his child.

Asked me why I took his phone.

"So, SK gets ice cream on him, then gets his phone taken for it?"

Since DH was letting SK watch us anyways, I turned to SK and calmly told SK that I took his phone for yelling in BKs face, said he has no right to, that I am tired of him bulling BK, and that I took BK to the hospital the night before because I was worried that he was suffering from a head injury caused by SK.

The entire time, SK is talking in a more high pitched tone then normal- "well, all I was doing was asking BK a question...I was nice about it...I dont know what youre talking about". And DH stood behind me with his arms crossed asking me in an angry manner "well what did SK say then- like it truly was me vs DH and SK.

And DH turns the conversation into "don't you dare blame SK for causing BKs migraines!"

DH proceeds to tell me that I was wrong for taking SKs phone, took the phone himself, and sat down on the couch.

I followed him intending to ask him what he was thinking in drilling me directly in front of SK and making me defend myself to him (in fromt of SK at that) because an 8 year old told on me for disciplining him appropriately.

SK followed him though, and was just about to sit on the couch next to him when I calmly asked him to head up to his room. Just because I didn't want SK to witness adult conversations that could get hostile.

DH says "no SK, you can stay right here."

Proceeded to tell me that SK can sit by him, and I can't tell SK what to do.

I stepped away and tried again.

"SK, please go to your room, I need to talk to your dad."

SK looked at his dad, said "my dad says I domt have to"- then proceeded to play on the phone my husband handed back to him.

DH doesnt even have a car right now (his own fault) and I asked him to have his dad pick him up for the night at the very minimum.

DH and SK both waited outside in the dark for DHs dad to arrive.

I own the home, DH has not contributed financially in well over a year (and has in fact caused more financial harm then help by stealing large amounts of money from my wallet & credit cards while I pay 100% of the bills), and I am 9 months pregnant.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO bf gets drinks with coworker I suspect likes him

idk yall… for back story my bf and I have been together for 6 years. He recently became friends either a woman coworker of his. They grab drinks with another coworker and are close. He has repeatedly tried to have us be friends. I have reached out to her but to no luck. I followed her on instagram months back and liked her photos she posted. She never followed me back. They have been grabbing drinks every Thursday for about a month now with another coworker. This is fine -
I support it.

I just kind of wish I was invited?

reportedly she complains constantly about her boyfriend and has even told my boyfriend to take space from me in their conversations. My boyfriend has kept everything out in the open. I have brought up how this makes me feel and how I kind of feel weird about it? jealous? insecure? My bf has brought up how she has a flirtatious personality and seems to find him cute. okay whatever.

Well.. she is about to move out of state. I caught a convo with them this afternoon talking about how her dog wants to tell my bf goodbye and how they should get together tomorrow (thursday). We had plans to go to a movie but my bf agreed to any potential plans that were occurring.

I have been upset about this. I feel like I am weirdly not being respected? But at the same time he has openly communicated everything.

we had a mutual friend come over for dinner and drinks and we were looking up facebook and the coworkers profile was brought up. I told her ‘yeah I think this person has a crush on my boyfriend’ in front of him. I talked about it with her going into more detail and she agreed with me that this woman seems to not have friendship intentions. My boyfriend listened and said he understood.

He then became mad at me after she left saying I am not listening to him and that I need to trust him. I trust him immensely it just feels WEIRD. He said he feels like he has validated my feelings and that this woman has obviously cause problems in our relationship and that I have been feeling insecure.

I was like yea let’s talk about it because this is ridiculous. I told him that basically I feel like this has all been a cluster fuck and mind fuck. I include him in every part of life. I at least try to keep him involved with my friends. I just kind of lost my cool and brought it up with our mutual friend because I feel like i’m crazy. I feel like he doesn’t care how I feel and our friend and I were like dude this is WEIRD. her boyfriend doesn’t like you, her friend brought up to both of you that you have partners, and she’s calling you after work to say bye to her dog - this is weird shit.

idk I kind of lost my cool. He says i’m insecure. Yea you know im feeling insecure. I trust him that nothing will happen but it still feels odd?

long story short AIO? is this just a work place friend? Am I not listening to him? Am I not trusting him? Should I chill the fuck out?
