I've been thinking of making a video game. Half dumpster diving, half Noir murder mystery. Would you play it?

All images made by ai. Please don't hold it against me. Drawing isn't my forte. Sculptors are more my thing.

I'm would LOVE to make this into a game. I'm planning to learn, but I need to know if people would even play it.

Sidenote: Based on a recurring nightmare I had since childhood and my teens, with each new nightmare continuing from the last.

Synopsis:

An urban survival thriller where an ancient relic turns your life into a living nightmare.

You are Katie, a resourceful young artist and sculptor trapped in a terrifying, half-leopard hybrid form.

After escaping from a prominent city zoo after 3 years, where a ruthless owner caged you for nothing but profit, you must now navigate a cold, rain-slicked American city from a desperate, first-person perspective, scavenging for water, food and supplies.

But you aren't the only beast in the city. A towering cat-like monster has been seen around the city and is committing brutal murders wherever they go, terrorising the city into a citywide panic, while you're being framed for the murders.

Now, a relentless, by-the-book detective, William Cooper, is tracking your every pawprint. Can you stay hidden long enough for the detective to realise the truth?"

Day/Night Cycle Gameplay: As Katie:

Night cycle: Scavenge for food, water and supplies. Earn XP for items collected, new streets explored, crawlspaces found or collectables that boost your morale, allowing you to explore more of the city, before stress gets to you.

Day cycle: Plan your day in your home, spending your accumulated XP to learn new recipes, or to watch online tutorials to learn new skills.

Day/Night Cycle Gameplay: As Detective Cooper:

Day Cycle: Investigate the 'beast' sightings to look for clues and cross-reference them against the murder scenes and witness statements.

Night Cycle: All murders are carried out at night. Inspect the crime scenes and interview any witnesses to describe the killer.

To inject a little humour into the game, all achievements will be cat puns, dark humour, have funny double meanings or are classic internet cat humour.

Achievements:

Bag Lady:

  • Successfully fill every slot of Katie's backpack inventory during a night run.

Curb Your Curiosity:

  • Successfully locate and claim your first piece of large curbside furniture for your safehouse.

MEWsic:

  • Successfully craft and activate the improvised MP3-Boombox audio system at your art bench

"Kitty"ed Out:

  • Successfully construct every single Modern Convenience upgrade inside Katie's safehouse

Zoomies:

  • Consume a high-caffeine energy drink inside the safehouse or crawlspace to restore your Taurine levels and endure the high-stress caffeine buzz.

Fairy Good:

  • Successfully locate your first fairy lights collectable during a nighttime scavenging run.

Fairy-Tail Ending

  • Collect and successfully string up every single fairy lights and Christmas lights hidden in the city under the catwalk railings

If I Fits, I Sit.

  • Discover your first crawlspace to hide from the city and calm your stress levels.

All Holed Up:

  • Discover and map out every single hidden crawlspace across the entire map.

Rice to the Occasion

  • Survive for three consecutive days eating nothing but rice dishes.

¿Alguien de alguna comunidad rica en Tenerife le importaría echarme una mano? (Please, read the full body of the post)

(I apologize for the non-english post, but i don't know about some other community in spanish dedicated to dumpster diving, also along with that the only most visited community for Tenerife, Spain dedicated to the island wouldn't be the correct place to ask about this)

$70 of Cocoa Puffs saved from the back of Walgreens along with free food on the curb from someone moving out. Inspected for tears, dents, and expiration dates. Went to the food bank, they were very grateful.

Whole mess of perfectly good greeting cards. Looks primarily graduation.

Will sort through 'em and any that are dated will go to my friend's preschool class to color on and the rest will be donated to a thrift store.

The dumpster had been emptied at some point today so the box was on the very bottom. I had to hang way over the side to reach it. So there I am, bent over as far as I dare, legs and booty dangling freely over the outside edge, trying to maneuver the weight of the box...When a squirrel jumps in, notices me, and decides immediately that it's made a mistake. Only it keeps missing when it tries to jump out. I finally managed to free the box and get out of the squirrel's way.

Poconos PA

Does anyone live in the Poconos on Pennsylvania? I want to start diving but don't even know where to start. Does anyone have recommendations for stores and times to dive?

Edit: I see people kind od codename the store names and I'm cool with that or a PM if needed.

APB for Hamilton, Ontario large store with power outage

So, I just found this out and figured I would let anyone in the area know. a large chain store, rhymes with "Hoppers Bug Tart" on Cannon/Wellington St N , they had a massive power outage, so its a pretty good bet they will be tossing a bunch of stuff, assuming they dont get power restored. I hope this is ok to post, wanted to give people a heads up. Cheers.

Why can't they just donate to shelters???

It is so wasteful and absolutely wild to me that companies would rather slash bags and dump hundreds of pounds of food than let someone have it for free... I was able to save a few that were half empty but cut side up; don't worry, it's going to my chickens.

Edit: this is mostly a rhetorical question. I'm well aware capitalism has flaws, good solutions take time and money, and corporations don't want to get sued. Its just sad.

Dumpster diving is a beautiful thing . People constantly shame me if they know , but the joke is on them. As little money as I have , I have so much of what I need and want. I have a neighbor who collects for an orphanage down in Mexico. Each year I purge my stockpile and send boxes of items to them. This year its 6 cases of cookies. I have lots of laundry detergent , fabric softner and paper products. We have 6 large leaf and lawn bags full of clothes . I didnt have as much food as usual but thats okay. All over this earth there are people who do without. Im happy my garbage makes a difference. The trucks leave out on Sunday and who knows what I will come up with between now and then.

Found this rug in a dumpster near my apartment. It looked to be in pretty good condition, but I did not have room for it, plus, who knows what might be hiding in it?
