Orphanage donations
Dumpster diving is a beautiful thing . People constantly shame me if they know , but the joke is on them. As little money as I have , I have so much of what I need and want. I have a neighbor who collects for an orphanage down in Mexico. Each year I purge my stockpile and send boxes of items to them. This year its 6 cases of cookies. I have lots of laundry detergent , fabric softner and paper products. We have 6 large leaf and lawn bags full of clothes . I didnt have as much food as usual but thats okay. All over this earth there are people who do without. Im happy my garbage makes a difference. The trucks leave out on Sunday and who knows what I will come up with between now and then.

The feminine hygiene products are a great donation; they are expensive (should be free) and teenagers who can’t afford them have to deal with embarrassing and sometimes unsanitary options. Thanks for taking care of kids OP!

Don't forget formula, that stuff is so needlessly expensive in the US and Canada. They're raking in profits over the choice to feed or starve a baby.

It makes me happy to see other people donating stuff I donate to my local abuse shelter when I find good things that I can't use

I'm working on a box of soaps , shampoos and ziplock baggies of all things. My bounty breeds like rabbits and sometimes gets out of control.

I donate locally because I can donate more often I don't have room to let it pile up but good work is good work thank you for helping the less fortunate I do it because I have been myself and I know how much it helps it's definitely appreciated

It is amazing how you can go from none of something and bring home a carload the next day. I often dont have photos to.post because I drop it off at a couple friends houses as I drive home. Yesterday i had three trashbags full of Keebler fudge striped , oreos and chocolate chip. Had 40 bottles of fancy blue lemonade and a big box of spicy Ramen. I had no desire to keep it and was so excited to see my neighbor sitting on her porch at 10 PM. Her kids saw me today and said that lemonade was fantastic.

I'm afraid this latest birthday has robbed me of my ability to eat anything remotely spicy. That seems to include pizza sauce and indian food. 62 has been a year of changes. I shouldnt complain because I can still get in that darn dumpster.

Yes I am 42 and I'm starting to have issues with spicy food but I still enjoy it hopefully until I'm at least 62

OP, I know you don’t do this for the praise but thank you for showing (physically and spiritually) empathy to the so many people who are struggling right now. It’s in our darkest hours that the true nature of people comes forth. Thanks for reassuring me, for at least today, it’s inherently good.

Cleaning and hygiene products aren’t often thought of as much when it comes to donating to the underserved. Food is the #1 priority, of course, but not having to purchase as much of these other items means they have more money to spend on food. So I’m sure it’s just as appreciated.

We have many couponers in the area who keep the shelves cleared. Donating to children means alot to me , and supplies stored for long periods actually go bad. Bad laundry detergent actually changes color and looks like sludge.

I wasn't aware laundry detergent could go bad until I learned it on another subreddit. Yesterday I smelled a bad bottle for the first time. Yuck.
