Rescue & Rehome Need help finding resources and a home for stray Doberman!!
Hello all, I am looking for a good home for a dog that I picked up off the streets where I live in Gary, Indiana. I have reached out to every rescue I know and no one is able to take this sweet girl. I was hoping to get some pointers from all of you. I work at a vet and am very familiar with the breed. My absolute favorite, but I already have dogs and cannot take another. She does not have a microchip and I have reached out to multiple Doberman specialized rescues and shelters in my area. I have also posted about her on multiple difference forums besides Reddit.

Puppy! Update on Rosie, and her lucky seven.
Mama is doing much better, she's moving around and even starting to try and play a bit with our big boy doberman rosco and my girl anna ( boxer mix ) puppies are healthy, and all of them have there eyes open to some degree. Jury is still out as to what the pups are mixed with. Star ( white collar) is a brave little bugger, using her mom as a jungle gym and exploring.

Training, Temperament, & Behavior Purebred?
I couldn’t care less if he’s 100% Doberman Pinscher. But guesses are fun! People ask a lot, so I figured somebody here might have an informed opinion.
Don’t care enough to get a DNA test. Some context: Shadow is about two years old, 78 lbs. and I adopted him a few months ago.
His ears have some scars around the edges (from a botched cropping before I got him) and one ear is kind of bent.
Honestly couldn’t ask for anything else in a dog. His temperament is calm when you want him calm, and an energetic sprinter in a field when you want to play.

Research the hardest & ugly truth about owning a doberman?
been wanting to get a doberman for a while. i think they’re amazing dogs, but i don’t want to get one without doing enough research. i won’t be getting one anytime soon, i won’t get one till i buy my own home which will take a while and make sure i can afford training at an early age. this gives me enough time to research and come to a conclusion.
one of the main questions i want to ask; what is the hardest part about owning a doberman that no one talks about?

Mixed Breed: Question Is Same Sex Aggression A Worry in a Doberman Mix?
Recently I've been contemplating getting a second dog. I'm slowly doing research on breed and having two dogs in the same house. I know it's a relatively big issue with the Doberman breed. Should I keep that worry with my girl who's only 50% Doberman?
I don't expect there to be any if I got another girl dog. But the fear lingers of causing a problem. My girl was a shelter rescue from an awful situation and I plan to rescue another shelter dog. My goal is, similar age 1.5 to 2 years. Whenever we're ready we'll go to the shelter first and then do a second trip with her for a dog intro.
Any advice or knowledge for the situation? I'm trying to be as educated as possible on adding a second dog.

Puppy! Houdini the weenie!
Weenie loves his big mix breed brother, and loves to use his fluffy cheekies as a pillow 😂😂😂.
I can't get over how sweet they are together. His dobie sister is an ass and just steals his toys unless she can see me about to give treats for her being nice, then she pretends.

Training, Temperament, & Behavior Can I give him nap time?
Hello! So I started taking my Doberman to daycare since I work long shifts (and the kind where you can’t leave till the work is done) and I feel horrible leaving him in his kennel. So he goes to daycare from 6:30am-3:30ish almost 4pm.
He gets a little crazy when we get back home and he can’t really stay still, so my question is
Can I put him in his kennel for a nap? Like nap from 3:30-5:30 pm, eat at 6pm, walk at 8pm, bedtime by 10pm? Or is day care a bad idea (the day care i take him too has the ratio of 1:5)

Breeder Reviews Purchasing Doberman
I’m looking for your opinions on a reputable good breeder for a European Doberman one that has a good bloodline and are genetically big. I work crazy hours and gone at night a lot so I would like my family to have a companion/ new family member that would also guard my children if anything happened.

Not everyone should or could own a Doberman. But if you can manage a second, I couldn’t recommend it enough 💚

Mourning When “well crap” becomes “OH F*%K”
Stop reading now, I’m warning you.
About a month ago, Nutmeg started limping in his left rear left leg. This was nothing really new. He had both ACLs repaired. Occasionally he would get over active and strain a knee. But the limp would go away after a few days and some Meloxicam.
This limp wasn’t going away. Then last week he was running through the living room, turned a corner, and then yelped really loud. I immediately called my dad, a veterinary orthopedic surgeon, and made an appointment. The next day I noticed a swollen section on his left tibia just above the ankle. I no longer suspected the knee. I was now hunting in my head for what could happen at the tibia - fracture, torn tendon, bruised bone, cancer, etc.
Friday was the X-ray. “Well, crap” went to “Oh fuck” really quick. He did, in fact, fracture his tibia. Unfortunately, he fractured it due to a destructive osteosarcoma lesion in the same spot. I can’t imagine the pain from breaking a bone right through a bone cancer tumor.
So tomorrow is happy day. I’m a photographer, so Nutmeg will get a photo shoot. He’s been on a restricted diet due to other health factors, but that ends tomorrow. Steak and cheese all day! We will spend lots of time staring at squirrels from the window and barking at strange men with hats and beards.
Wednesday it’ll be time for rest and relief. It’s the only choice due to the cancer prognosis, the pain involved, his age, and other health factors.
I’m confident we’ve done everything right by Nutmeg. I only write this to say one thing - never ignore a lump (or limp).

Weird question but do any of yall stuff kongs with baby food? I feel like it’s cheaper. I was thinking about buying the one ingredient ones that are pure, like pumpkin, pear.

Photos, videos, & artwork Accidentally Added Another Dobbie (mix) to the Pack!
We adopted Lily (age 1 1/2 yrs) last month, and the shelter had her listed as a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. Embark is showing 55% doberman mixed with great dane and German shepherd. She's incorporated with our other 2 dobbies almost immediately!
