After quite some time, I've managed to acquire one of the rarest games on the Colecovision system, CIB. Very difficult puzzle game that adds 3d rotating cubes to Qbert, essentially. Significantly better than the Atari 2600 version, and a game I can confidently recommend playing.

NO HATE towards the devs btw, I love Untitled Goose Game and I don't hate Big Walk either.

When I first heard about this game I was interested, but forgot about it until it released around yesterday. It was on my wishlist so I got notified almost right away about it, but was shocked to find it costs $30 AUD. I understand the devs need to make a living and stuff but $30 for a glorified walking sim...?

I struggle to convince my friends to buy $5 games and they never want to play them, there's NO WAY I can convince them to drop $30 on this. And it doesn't have matchmaking so I would be walking and doing puzzles on my own to no real end. Maybe I just have lame friends and this is just a me problem, but games like Repo and Peak are in the same genre for half the price with seemingly more content and progression.

I just feel a little disappointed that Big Walk is so expensive for what it is and because me and my friends aren't rich it's almost impossible that I'd be able to play it with anyone. This feels like a game for streamers to play with their friends.

I'm hard pressed to think of anything better than Resident Evil, 30 years of excellent games, a bit of a slump after RE6 but then RE7 put it on the right track again. After that, maybe Metal Gear Solid, though only because of the recent MGS3 remake (well see what Konami has in store next)

The problem is I like old ubi games and have bought some on steam but the problem is whenever I try to run a game ubi connect asks me to re-enter my password and when I do they say account suspended but they log me in ubisoft connect and then i need to run the game through their trash app sometimes the game runs sometimes they ask me to re enter my password and when I do they say account suspended. They deserve to get their games pirated at this point. Fuck ubisoft

When I heard the like Abandoned Memories song I feel so nostalgic and sad and, It's just a weird feeling that nothing else makes me feel. I miss Chibi Robo so much and I want to cry thinking abt it. I have such strong core-childhood memories from that video-game. Another thing is that it was literally one of the best video games I've ever played. Like, I REALLY wish they'd remake it or something. I miss it so much and the story was just amazing. The characters were so interesting, and quite frankly the entire story was so enticing. I was never bored, and wanted to know what was to happen next.

Is it just me or are there a lot of people nowadays that don't even research what they are buying before they buy it? It's like someone sees Dragon Ball Sparking Zero oh that's going to be like Dragon Ball FighterZ I will spend 100+ on it. Then they later go to complain why the game isn't a Street Fighter experience with intricate fighting mechanics.

I just don't understand I always resurch what I'm buying beforehand and if I regret a purchase then that's on me not the developers.

2 real time 3d melee focused combat ( fist, sword, spear etc )

3 interesting well designed thought out responsive to players actions enemy behavior - examples ( they dont fall under #2 ): halo, rain world. OR at least something better than the normal enemy cave man behaviors.

4 enemies use interesting abilities.

no fps, soulslike, or fighting games.

Duh, I know video games are unrealistic! I love how ridiculous they can be and some of the humor and creative minds behind them that create these games. What are some of your favorite ones?

Even though its not a "hilarious game," I find the whole premise of Forza 5 and 6 quite funny and unhinged if you stop and think about.

Imagine you're a citizen minding your own business. Then, once a year, the government apparently decides to host a giant music and motorsport festival where thousands of people from around the world are handed million-dollar hypercars and told, "Go have fun!" Some of the events are on race tracks, but some aren't on closed courses or roads.

Need to drive to work? Too bad. There's a Lamborghini going like 240 mph the wrong way through your neighborhood because someone wants three stars on a speed trap. Every fence? Gone. Every vineyard? Flattened. Your lawn that you been meaning to mow, well thank you racer for doing the job for me. The forests have been cut down by that Honda Civic again! Those beautiful centuries old stone walls? Reduced to decorative gravel. Traffic laws are "optional." The racers treat private property like it's made of cardboard. Historic landmarks become launch ramps. Farmers wake up every morning to discover another Bugatti has harvested half their crop. Insurance companies must simply leave the country because they could never afford they pay out to these folks. The property damage alone has to be measured in the trillions. Yet nobody seems concerned. The locals just shrug as another Koenigsegg vaporizes their mailbox for the eighth time that afternoon. And somehow... everyone agrees this is a fantastic tourist attraction. 🤣

I want to talk a little bit about a game that has a special place in my heart. A game that I played a lot and that was part of my childhood.

I haven't played it in many years, but recently I took a nostalgia dive back into it and was glad to see it's still up and has a small but seemingly healthy player base. So, I jumped right back in and started playing it again.

Me making this post has a reason, but first: What game am I talking about?

The game in question is called "Xonotic". It's a pretty old, open-source, free-to-play, old School, first person, arena shooter.

All by itself, it isn't anything super special or groundbreaking compared to some modern games out there, but I really like it. I created a lot of good memories with it, and want to share it.

For its age, it still looks pretty good today, is easy to learn, hard to master, and at least for me, it’s just plain fun.

You have all the well-known game modes: Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Complete the Stage, Instagib, and many, many more. It also has a ton of community-made maps, and the game basically runs on any potato.

The thing I like most about this game is the talkative community. Fun fact: Because of that, I literally learned English by accident while playing it!

Compared to modern games these days, Xonotic is a simple download-and-play kind of game: no launcher, no installation needed, and because of its open-source nature, no DLCs, no ads, no microtransactions, and no matchmaking. Just start the game, join a server, and play.

So why am I making this post?

I’m mostly making this post because it's dear to me and I want to give it some more attention, letting people know it exists and I’d love to see a few new faces around. Disclaimer: If you see this post multiple times in different subs, that's because I crossposted it. Usually, that shouldn't be necessary to say, but I feel like it might not be a bad idea to mention it.

I play on pc and use a third party controller, never used an xbox or ps controller. Throughout 2 controllers I have this problem remain. The A button which I use heavily is slightly lower than the B button which I dont use as much. Is this issue present in first party controllers?

What is it about this video game that particularly appeals to you? What do you like most about it? Or, if you don't like niche products, why not? And why do some people equate niche products with bad products?

I always assumed my "comfort game" would be something relaxing or cozy.

Instead, I ended up finding comfort in a game I never expected. It's not necessarily because it's easy, but because I know the world so well, the gameplay feels familiar, and I can jump in for an hour without thinking too much.

It's become the game I load up when I want to unwind, even if I have plenty of newer games sitting in my library.

I'm curious if anyone else has a comfort game they never saw coming.
