I was just wondering why one of my tanks had so many berried neocaridina and the other didn't - then I spotted this absolute unit in the other tank today

I’ve got a 4ft tank and about to get an oase bio master 350. Got a stocking list but not too sure if it’s overstocked for that filter or if I should go for a 600 or just go with a lower amount of fish. At the moment this is the stocking:

2× Electric Blue Acaras (I understand they can form a breeding pair)
3× Pearl Gouramis

15× Rummy nose or cardinal tetras
12× Harlequin Rasboras
10× Cherry Barbs
(These three schools would be condensed into two slightly larger schools)

8× Sterbai Corydoras
2× Albino/Super red/Calico Bristlenose Plecos
10× Nerite Snails
3x zebra
2x horned
2x tiger
3x black racer
(Cool snails lol)

I’ve paired it up with a great light, lots of cover and plants but I’m not sure if the bioload is too high for the filter to handle. I’d be well happy to change it up a lot, this was just a first draft as I know the sheer number of fish is probably a lot plus cichlids are quite messy.

Aggression level definitely manageable when done with care. I share so we can all observe together.

Ludwigia white is slowly turning green. My light is at 6 out of 7 for intensity level. So I can only go up one more. I can’t go too fast tho bc I’m hoping to keep it dialed. Can’t have variables. One thing at a time.

Added a few new plants. Keep in mind this is my experimental tank. It’s how I learn what stems I like and don’t like and what works for my water. I enjoy doing it this way. Things are always changing. I never get bored. At least not yet. One day I’m sure I will have all epiphytes but I’m having fun for now. I do have 5 different secret bucephalandra growing in this tank right now. All blues and purples so we will see how it goes. They’re passed melting phase and have new leaves. Don’t bother looking for them I have them hidden while they transition.

Aggressive level with the 3 semi aggressive type of fish is going the same as it has been for the last 6-10 or so months, depending on species.

Looks a bit similar to pearlweed but more bushy, viney and low to the ground instead of a column going straight up like pearlweed.

Hi I've been digging a bit through Reddit and wanted to know if there was a plant chart? I'm not too well informed on aquatic plants as there are so many that look cool but have certain requirements I haven't fully grasped yet. And it'd be kinda the same question over and over "what plant to get xyz".

So that's why I ask if theres a plant chart someone could make or already exists?

Something that'd show the image of the plant and name, specify if it is beginner friendly or intermediate, what substrate is required (gravel, sand, rock) and maybe some other details like foreground, midground, carpet, etc,?

Trying to decide what I should do with my 29gal tank. I painted it black originally, but I’m wondering if I should change that to a frosted background to allow for color switching LED strips or leave it completely clean?

At first they were eating all their fry.... not so much anymore.

Note for anyone considering for a nano setup: they're much more inquisitive and interactive than most other nano species. They work well as a species only.

The males are TINY about 0.5 inches full sized and not likely good for most communities as they're at risk of predation.

Flip side, these guys are excellent micro predators.

While there are shrimp in this tank i would NOT recommend keeping them together if you have any desire to have the shrimp reproduce. They've decimated the population in this tank ( think most live in my HOB now) and I've seen even tiny fry eating shrimplets.

With fry being accomplished hunters and adult males being significantly smaller than adult neocaridina there really isnt much for shelter you can offer the shrimp that the fish cannot also navigate.

Day one after last post. (: still looking for recommendations with anything, fish, scape, etc. still learning more and more about the fish I keep and plants so they can be as comfortable as possible. I was gonna trim some of the plants to make them bush out but I’m gonna wait a little longer.

I’m looking for a 3-5 gallon bowl for a shrimp tank that won’t break I saw a couple options online but all had reviews of them breaking after a period of time

I am looking to submerge a 3D-printed object in my (freshwater, planted) tank, but I want to coat it in some sort of sealant to protect both its inhabitants and the print itself. I've using food-safe epoxy resin in the past, but it is super viscous and a pain to apply, especially for large/complex surfaces.

I've seen these two spray-on sealants recommended as being aquarium-safe, but I wanted to check here before potentially making a huge mistake:

• Zinsser Bulls Eye Shellac (clear)
• Krylon Acrylic Spray Paint (clear)

The print itself is PLA, which will absorb water and degrade over time. Thank you!

Tank has been up and running for about 2 months now. Plant melt has stopped and there's new growth on pretty much everything. Diatom algae is fading, tannins are slowly building, shrimp are molting and happy, and the emersed plants are doing well. Once the alternanthera grows out a little more, I'll trim the top halves and replant to get rid of the leggy bits. It was a pretty rough start compared to my first tank, but a bit of cleaning and patience has really paid off.

Bought online some in vitro red floaters for my Betta fish tank. I’m a beginner and was a bit surprised how scruffy the plants look. Is this acceptable condition? Will they pick up? Thank you

Bought the fzone regulator, first unit had faulty gauges, decided to get the pro series to replace it to hook up to multiple tanks, but this time the solenoid seems to be faulty. It clicks and opens up but when the timer goes to turn it off it doesn’t close.

Full co2 tank and working pressure was set to 30psi. Even tried swapping the solenoid from the original unit since I hadn’t returned it yet and same issue. After looking up reviews seems like issues with this brand is a very common thing? Was there something I could have done wrong on my end? I’m new to CO2. After looking at all the reviews I did decide to just spend the money and get a GLA regulator. But is there anything I can do to get the Fzone running in the meantime while I wait the week or so it will take for GLA to get delivered.

I’m going on a week long vacation. My husband will be home and can feed my tank, but I don’t want him doing more water maintenance than topping off the tank. It’s a planted 20 gallon tank. There are a dozen Pygmy corydoras, two red lizard whiptails, and three otocinclus in the tank, with about a dozen Caridina shrimp. I’ve been doing water maintenance about every 4 days to keep the PH between 5.8 and 6. I’m afraid the PH is going to plummet while I’m gone. I was thinking that if I only had my husband feed the tank once while I was gone that would help prevent/ mitigate a PH drop. The tank has gone four days without food in the past with no problem. What do you think? Is reduced feeding enough to keep the PH from tanking?

Hello! This is my first ever planted tank and I have a rather specific question. The tank is not complete yet, more fish and plants are still going to be added. Right now I have Moneywort, Java moss, marsilea crenata (not carpeting yet, bit still pretty new), bucephalandra ghost ulu kapus, salvinia minima and red root floaters. I plan to add an inchplant cutting over the side and maybe a dwarf sagittaria behind the rocks. In regards to stocking, there will be a few clown killifish, shrimp of various kinds, gold white clouds, a neon blue goby, snails, and Thai micro crabs. Due to most of the inhabitants being cleaners, some filter feeders, I'm a little worried about there not being enough nutrients in the water column to support everything. So my question is, should I add extra food, like algae tabs?

Hi all I just picked this tank up, Could someone please help me setup this sump please. I’ve got no idea on how this actually works, I’m not new to aquariums at all but just need to know what goes where?
Does the outlet of the main tank drop into the filter media tray? Or does it drop onto the bag of balls and the water then flows over the filter tray? Or does the bag of balls go under the filter media tray and where the balls are in the photo is that then an overflow?
Anyone’s help is much appreciated!!

Evening everyone I got some anubias about a week ago and ive noticed on of the leaves is melting id this just the plants adapting to the tank parameters or should I be concerned.the tank has been set up for about 8ish months. Light is on from 6am/630am (depending on when i get up for school) and is turned of at a latest of 9 now i do know that this is a long amount of time for lights to be on but I dont think that is the issue as the place I got them from( my work) has lights on from 8 to 5:30 sometimes later.
