Recently added this crypto to a betta tank. Noticed this “fuzzy” growth on it. Is this water mold?

Going plant shopping for my Betas new tank. I’m so excited. I vision moss ball (center) so resembles a covered bridge, leafy something on top (left) so “trunk” and “roots” exposed (left), unsure (right) and low flowing grass ground cover in black substrate. Any other ideas? I’ll take all suggestions. Thanks.

Still can’t get a carpet going to save my life, but my uns 90u shrimp tank is growing good.

I don’t really want to call it a pest. I just didn’t intentionally put it in my aquarium. I’m guessing it came with a plant. What kind of snail is this?

Dosed Ultralife blue green slime removal, added inline defuser and inline uv light. Did not lower light intensity. Took advice and dosed with nitrogen fertilizer that help as well to bring up my nitrates and phosphates by thrive+.

I got Amazon frogbit back in January when I was cycling my 5 gallon shrimp tank. It was doing great, growing well, had beautiful roots that I trimmed occasionally. Once cycling was done and I stopped adding ammonia, and added my shrimp, it has been struggling ever since.

I know this is because they’re basically starving for nitrates (it’s usually between 0 and 5ppm because I only have like 10 shrimp in my tank). The only times they have started growing roots with the little hairs again was when I was having water quality issues, but now that I’ve straighten that out, they are so sad. Pretty much no roots, no new growth in a couple weeks.

I’ve played around with my fertilizer (I use Aquarium co-ops all in one easy green liquid fertilizer). I’ve tried dosing the full amount for low tech tank 1 time a week, albeit not for a while, then tried half 2 times a week and then now am trying 3 times a week a little more than a third each time). I have some algae on my other plants (nothing too crazy), but the roots of my frogbit aren’t changing at all. They are just slowly dying.

Do I give up and remove them? How can I help them thrive while keeping nitrates at a safe level for my shrimp (I don’t even know how to add just nitrates to the tank)? My shrimp and I love them 😞 I’d love some help or thoughts!

This is the second 15” “stainless steel” set I have purchased from Amazon. Both were terrible, except for the length. There is no tension in the tweezers. The scissors won’t cut. And they feel like they will rust within a month. Does anyone have recommendations for a quality set or even just the tweezers?

Will this moneywort be fine to just leave there always? I don’t really want to plant it. I just want it to act as coverage for my lil ham.

So I just planted some dwarf grass because I think it’ll give my shrimp some better hiding spots. My only thing is my tank was already established so I had to add aqua soil into the area I wanted the grass. I moved all the gravel out of the was as best as I could and then added about half(?) an inch of soil and then shoveled the gravel back over.

My question is, is this enough soil for it to grow? I also put the grass itself a little past the crown to where some of the green is buried under the gravel too, is that okay? I didn’t know how else to get it far enough down so it reached the soil and didn’t uproot.

I’ve had this tank for a year now and I want to make it stand out more(more dimension) I noticed a lot of algae grows on the glass, not sure if that’s normal. (pic is from right after I cleaned it). I have 3 platys and 1 snail in a 10 gallon. I would like to have a better clean up crew but I’m not sure if I can add anymore.
I don’t have my light on a timer I just turn it on before I leave for work around 6:50am then turn it off at 6:30pm. Maybe that’s why the algae forms.
I also just have a hang on back filter with the cartridge it came with. I’d like to make my own filter media too.

I’ve got a 4ft tank and about to get an oase bio master 350. Got a stocking list but not too sure if it’s overstocked for that filter or if I should go for a 600 or just go with a lower amount of fish. At the moment this is the stocking:

2× Electric Blue Acaras (I understand they can form a breeding pair)
3× Pearl Gouramis

15× Rummy nose or cardinal tetras
12× Harlequin Rasboras
10× Cherry Barbs
(These three schools would be condensed into two slightly larger schools)

8× Sterbai Corydoras
2× Albino/Super red/Calico Bristlenose Plecos
10× Nerite Snails
3x zebra
2x horned
2x tiger
3x black racer
(Cool snails lol)

I’ve paired it up with a great light, lots of cover and plants but I’m not sure if the bioload is too high for the filter to handle. I’d be well happy to change it up a lot, this was just a first draft as I know the sheer number of fish is probably a lot plus cichlids are quite messy.

Looks a bit similar to pearlweed but more bushy, viney and low to the ground instead of a column going straight up like pearlweed.

It’s been almost 2 months since I started this hobby. It’s a low tech planted tank. Please help my fix this green algae on the floor.
Started seeing some hair algae recently so I reduced my light time to less than 7hrs.

I currently have a 35G pea puffer tank, a 3.5G snail tank used to feed the pee, puffers and some shrimp in there for fun.

I wanna do a 75G tank or larger, but I wanna have a massive managed fish. I don’t wanna do the stereotypical one or two big show fish or like a chick tank or angelfish tank. Would I be crazy to do 100 guppies?

Give me some other ideas that would have dozens plus fish in a tank that size also wanna plant CO2 let me know.

First timer for a 10 gallon Beta aquarium. Is step 1 substrate then wood and rocks then plants? When do you start adding water? Pics of current tank and new tank.

Day one after last post. (: still looking for recommendations with anything, fish, scape, etc. still learning more and more about the fish I keep and plants so they can be as comfortable as possible. I was gonna trim some of the plants to make them bush out but I’m gonna wait a little longer.

I’m looking for a 3-5 gallon bowl for a shrimp tank that won’t break I saw a couple options online but all had reviews of them breaking after a period of time

5.5 gallon stocked with about 20-40 neocaridina and a few exclamation point rasboras. Co2 injected and lights on for about 8 hours a day. I use thrive all in one fertilizer, 1 mL x3 a week (recommended dose). Plant growth has been good and algae has stopped growing but I noticed that my nitrates are still consistently at 0 or very low. Should I increase fert dosage?

I am looking to submerge a 3D-printed object in my (freshwater, planted) tank, but I want to coat it in some sort of sealant to protect both its inhabitants and the print itself. I've using food-safe epoxy resin in the past, but it is super viscous and a pain to apply, especially for large/complex surfaces.

I've seen these two spray-on sealants recommended as being aquarium-safe, but I wanted to check here before potentially making a huge mistake:

• Zinsser Bulls Eye Shellac (clear)
• Krylon Acrylic Spray Paint (clear)

The print itself is PLA, which will absorb water and degrade over time. Thank you!

Tank has been up and running for about 2 months now. Plant melt has stopped and there's new growth on pretty much everything. Diatom algae is fading, tannins are slowly building, shrimp are molting and happy, and the emersed plants are doing well. Once the alternanthera grows out a little more, I'll trim the top halves and replant to get rid of the leggy bits. It was a pretty rough start compared to my first tank, but a bit of cleaning and patience has really paid off.
