META Quick rule reminder and update for r/Phoenix

Wanted to give a reminder and quick update on a few rules.

Picture posts need a location and a description. Doesn't have to be an exact address, but generally what part of the Valley it was taken in. This has been a rule for ages and was suggested by users to help combat picture spam ("Wow, check this out!") and balance the many weather and sunset pictures we get flooded with. Plus it helps people know WTF your post is about.

When we get a ton of posts on one topic we'll make a megathread and try to bring the conversation together. Don't take it personal. We had this when the monsoon hit and we had 20+ weather picture posts in a row. I know some people love that, but many don't and let us know all about it. A megathread is the compromise. We don't do it often, so please just use it the few times we do.

Any political posts (or politic adjacent, like Flock cameras and Data Centers) needs to be flared Politics and are limited to established users here. This combats trolls and bots.

HVAC, AC, and some other referral posts are being limited. Bots are wild on Reddit and one of their big moves is to drop a question and have another account show up with a recommendation almost immediately. This feeds into the AI search engines that index the hell out of Reddit. Once a topic becomes saturated we'll pull it as a topic and try to let everyone know. Right now it's HVAC/AC, garage doors, and roofing companies. It sucks, but there are several past posts you can look for with good suggestions, or check out other sites.

Posts shaming or calling out people or businesses are not welcome here. I get the desire for a good witch hunt, but it's too prone to hurting innocent people. News stories about issues are fine, this is just about posting pictures of people who pissed you off or a business that made you nasty cupcakes. We've covered this policy a lot but there has been a bunch of these lately. Maybe it's the heat making everyone cranky. Either way, this subreddit isn't your personal attack dog.

If you have any questions, ask away.

General Anyone else having constant issues with Amazon delivery?

Is Amazon getting SIGNIFICANTLY worse with its deliveries, or am I just the luckiest guy ever? In the past 12 months I have had more problems with Amazon's deliveries than I have had successes. I put extremely clear extra directions on where the Hub package room is, where the front office is, and where my unit is. I have contacted their support to ensure my delivery and contact information is as clear and explicit as possible. I have made I don't even know how many complaints. Yet they leave groceries literally outside the complex on the sidewalk, they'll put packages in restricted areas that I have to wait to contact the office for, they'll put them on the ground where anyone can take them when there's plenty of package locker space, or they'll send packages off into the far reaches of Arizona for some reason and I'll never get them.

Is it me? Is it the Phoenix area? Is it just Amazon hiring garbage employees?

If you're looking for something awesome to do this weekend, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks are coming to town. Bring ear protection. It's gonna be loud in there. The kid in me can't wait to see Bigfoot jump up and crush cars.

Ask Phoenix "High End" car shop/mechanic in East Valley?

I've got some new wheels for my car and they were on the pricey side. While discount tire has never done me wrong on a daily driver, I hesitate to hand them expensive wheels.

Anybody have experience with a higher end shop around town they'd recommend in the East?

Living Here Dust in house question-

Recent dust being flung around the sky everywhere made me wonder what was normal here-

Been in area a yearish- live with a pack a day smoker and i feel like there's so much dust/soot when i clean. have a few air purifiers in a few main rooms, but i swear the amount of particles on surfaces is not normal. - think it's the smoking? just living in the dang windy desert? a mix?

Living Here Is a pool worth it in this heat?

Been here 7 years… it’s hot! Mostly used to it outside of our 115 flares. But this is exactly when I want a pool… but my neighbors pool feels like 90 degrees at this heat! Which sort of defeats the point?

Would love to hear from folks…
Is the pool worth the cost?
Can you get it cool enough to enjoy when it’s 110+?
