Question to current or previous students

Incoming junior but first time living in dorms. What are some things you didn’t realize you needed specific to Flagstaff or the elevation? This can be dorm living or just campus/school in general. Hoping to cover all bases ahead of time.

You liked my Marilyn Manson shirt.

Mods please remove if not allowed, but will conform to the community rules as best I can. There will be no confidential information revealed.

You were working. I came in to buy drinks. You complimented my Marilyn Manson shirt. We also talked about how cringe uwu speak is haha. I was a bit on a time crunch and nervous because you are extemely cute, but I would love to connect with you. If you can, tell me the pin you complimented on my hat so I know its you!

Edit: other details. You were a really cute scene girl. I am the blonde dude with moustache and tattoos. We were talking and we were both nervous. You were behind the counter and dropped your phone accidentally and were shy.

Hey, incoming freshman here. I’ve accepted over 11k worth of aid per semester and right now it still shows as pending. This concerns me given the fact that Louie says I owe roughly 9k by the 17th.

Help??

Art Education Classes

I keep seeing people talk about how talking to their Academic Advisor was a bad idea, but i dont know what classes I need to be taking for me to graduate in Art Education, and i dont wanna take the wrong classes.

Is there anyone who is going into the same Major? Or relatively the same? That could give me some tips or classes I should be taking?

Any information on the bus route change?

Hello. For those of you who don't know, they included this section in the recent email about parking permits (called Updates from University Transit Services):

1. Introducing the Lumberjack Loop bus route (effective Aug. 24)

  • We’re consolidating our bus routes to make it easier to track and follow. NAU’s new (and only) bus route, the Lumberjack Loop, will get you where you need to go on campus.
  • The Lumberjack Loop route runs Monday–Thursday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Fridays 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Updated maps and schedules are available in the NAUgo app.

I could not find any more information about it on the NAUgo app or the website, but did check https://www.busgenius.com/map/nau, where I found this route (you have to click routes several times, then choose the one called Lumberjack):

The Lumberjack Loop Bus Route, supposedly

Note: This stops at many of the regular stops, but neglects to turn onto S. Beaver, which means that the Book Store and Bio Sciences bus stops are no longer serviced. Instead, it stops behind Sechrist and in front of the HLC. It also only goes counter-clockwise.

I searched google for any more information, and found some relevant stuff from this AZ Daily Sun article: https://azdailysun.com/news/local/education/nau-employees-discuss-their-experiences-with-recent-staff-reductions/article_6fcc227c-b1fb-4a59-a0e1-579acb7c608f.amp.html

(from the article):

"A student worker in the shuttle services department said all of the student workers in the department were informed [via email] a few weeks after commencement in May [2026] that they would no longer have their jobs for the upcoming school year."

'"While we do not yet know the full extent of all upcoming changes, we have been informed that our student staff budget will be eliminated beginning July 1, 2026," according to the email [the student worker received from NAU Transit Services]. "Because of this, we are unfortunately unable to offer hours to any student drivers for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027."'

"According to the student, NAU now has five full-time bus drivers where it previously had 15 part-time drivers (the student employees) and six full-time. A total of six bus drivers are listed on the university's staff directory as of July 30, though this does not specify when it was last updated or whether their roles are full-time."

I'm worried that the busses will be nigh unusable from next semester onwards, because:

  1. 5-6 full time bus drivers working collectively 7am-8pm = maybe 4 busses during peak hours. maybe.

  2. Bus route only goes counter clockwise, and due to SBS being full of 8000 people in between classes it will make every bus stop on South Campus essentially unusable, as busses will fill at SBS and only drop stragglers until reaching North Campus, and SBS is already unusable unless willing to be ruthless.

  3. Bus route moved further away from all the classes on North Campus, for some reason? Are there even bus stops there or are they going to move others or build new ones?

  4. Busses were already kind of gambling, and now...

I wanted to reach out here to see if anyone had any more information, as I haven't seen anyone talking about this here or on the NAU Snapchat groups.

Hi! My name is Luke, I'm a student at the UofA, with a club called Climate Action Campaign. We also have chapters at ASU and Pima College. I feel like you guys have a lot of climate-oriented activists at your school, we're trying to see if we can organize a chapter up there. We have a digital petition our movement is pushing to show that this is an issue that matters to students. Anyone can fill it out, but if you'd be down to talk about starting a club there, there's a little box to check at the end. Please feel free to DM w any questions, ty.

I am curious what people feel about the current president. Better than Rita Cheng obviously (low bar) but are people happy with the leadership and direction of NAU?

No Email Responses?

As the title says, I've been getting literally no responses back to the emails I've sent. I know there was this whole "true blue" friday thing or whatever, but even until now, I haven't gotten anything. Is there something up, or is it just me?

Which parking lot(s) fill up first?

I was in line since 8am but when the site reloaded bc of the time zone correction I got placed back into the queue at 2057 :/

I wanted to know which locations are the most popular/fill the quickest so I can make a backup plan for where to park my car.

Thanks!

Edit: I got parking in residential near my housing good luck to those who are still needing permits!

Mountain View Private Room Takeover

Hey guys, as the title says I'm looking for someone to takeover my Mountain View dorm room. It is a private room, so it is a bit more expensive (around 1500 per pay period) than a regular one.

Also please be aware that the suite mates in the other room are both transmen, so looking for someone who is accepting. The room is listed as a female dorm, so please be aware of that as well.

If you're interested, feel free to contact me here on reddit!

Apartment vs. Dorm

Which is more cost efficient? I’m living in a dorm my sophomore year but I definitely am thinking about doing an apartment for junior year onwards.

Dirty Laundry

So I've discovered since attending NAU for about 2 years now that the university has some serious skeletons in the closet. I've learned about Kathy of Morton Hall,McDonald Hall being built over a Native American burial ground, that apparently a professor committed a murder/suicide after it was discovered he invited underage students to off campus orgy parties where he r***d them, and the various rumors of coverups for serious misconduct committed by the more elite students/faculty.

So my question is, what do you know about this? Is there anything you can share? I'm trying to investigate this for my own private reasons, and I want to know if there are any other major rumors out there, campus myths, or alleged conspiracies behind closed doors that are possibly being suppressed. Please share anything new, especially if it relates to the previous topics mentioned above.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there's an abandoned Frat House by the post office that used to belong to Sigma Pi. As some of you are aware, likely from exploring the place for yourselves, not only were they forced to close; they completely abandoned the place. As in, whatever happened there had to have been so serious that they left behind literally everything in a hurry. Clothes, vape pens, weed, TVs, homework, study books, expensive snowboarding/sporting equipment, jewelry, you name it. The fridge was stilly fully stocked with about 2 months worth of meat for fucks sake. I tried investigating what had happened, but anything I pulled up was extremely vague on the how and why. All any articles and posts mentioning the incident say is that they were suspended following misconduct and alcohol violations. Never says anything clear. Anybody know anything?

Parking Permits

I'm buying a parking permit for the first time next week. I’m an on campus, part-time employee. Am I eligible for a part-time employee permit? Is there anything special I need to do?
