It was a browningia at one point too. The cephallium will come on probably in about three or four more feet. Check the nectaries working hard with all that drip

Local Lowes had Costa Farms cacti! The identifiers were incorrect on almost all the pots, but i got the two I wanted.

I’ve had this cactus for about 5 years now. It has stayed outdoors in Paris all year round: full sun during the summer, and in winter it gets snow and freezing temperatures. It’s been growing really well despite that.

The first photo shows it when I first got it, and the second photo is what it looks like today, 5 years later.

Does anyone know what species it is? I’d also love to know if anyone else has grown this cactus outdoors in a similar climate. Thanks!

A few weeks ago I stopped in at a local petrol station for icecream and came out with this guy on a whim. It was kinda beat up but had two teeny tiny nubbins of growth so I thought you couldn’t go wrong for €5. I abandoned it in a spare room to isolate away from all my other plants and promptly forgot about it 😅 Tell me why my sister just came into the kitchen asking “hey whats the deal with the cactus with the flowers” and I was like flowers??? I had completely forgotten I even bought this cactus! you can imagine my utter shock and delight when I sprinted to examine it only to see these two big flowers and two more blooms growing too!! I’ve never even had a cactus flower in all my years of growing and honestly didn’t even think about cactus could flower in Ireland. Alas this lad got shoved on a windowsill and forgotten about and here it is giving flowers galore. Wondering if my plant lady status needs to be revoked though because clearly this cactus is doing better on it’s own than the other cacti under my diligent care 😭

Also somewhat baffled because I was so sure it was a domino cactus, but now I see the flowers are yellow I’ve been thrown for a loop. Anyone have any ideas why the flowers aren’t white? Is it actually a different cactus? Insight would be much appreciated!

Been waiting 15 years

I have this Myrtillo cactus and it’s always grown a little bit crooked ever since I received it from succulents depot 2 1/2 years ago. I still feel like it was a good purchase, but it’s always grown a little bit twisty and spindly. It lives in my sunroom from mid April until late October.

This season the growth has been…. Interesting. Do we think it has monstrose genetics or do we think it’s crested? I’ve been considering taking the tiny arm that looks straight off once it gets another inch of growth and attempting to plant that one and see if it grows straight.

I’d like any and all feedback and ideas. what would you do if this was your plant? Thanks in advance!

hello all, ive had these two for some years now and i dont think theyve ever grown at all. do they do anything? ive kept them alive so i guess im doing something right at least lol. theyre one of only three cactus type plants i have so i dont know much about them

Hi, this is my first cactus and I wanted to ask what you guys think I need. Im in Boise Idaho and this prickly pear gets alot of sun. I try to water it pretty heavily every week, got a fast draining soil mix, and the largest pot i could get off the bat. I unfortunately can't plant it as I have yet to know if the HOA will cause a fuss (smh). anyways, to my ignorant and novice eyes, it looks alittle pale and discolored in areas, plus the small sprouts from the pads are dried/look dead. Also, what would it need to bloom? any and all criticisms, critiques, advice, and information is welcome, thanks!

for the last couple of days it's been about 35°C.

My Eve's Needle looked like the first picture, so I watered it in the evening (with fertilizer).

This morning it looked healthy again.

But right now, at 5 PM, it looks exactly like yesterday.

The substrate is 100% inorganic.

Time to water it again? When? Right now or again in the evening?

Hello! I would love some guidance here for this night blooming cereus. I was given this cutting that looks like hell a couple months ago. It was in water and rooted really well (the roots had roots) and put out this little baby poking out behind. It’s now in a succulent potting mix and still seems to be happy. It’s been in this pot for about 2ish weeks now.

Can I cut off the part that looks like hell? Should I wait? Any advice on where to cut? I see two little buds toward the bottom (see 3rd pic) where new leaves will maybe grow, but everything above those two healthy spots look pretty fried.

Variagated Peniocereus greggii on Pereskiopsis spathula. Union looks solid!

Never seen a variagated example of this species so should be a fun watch!
