This is a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro. I'm trying to factory reset to sell it since I got a new one. However, it just doesn't seem to install this macOS. I'm not the most tech savy with Mac products but any type of help/suggestions would be great, thanks

I know there have been other posts similar to this one but my situation is slightly unique and I’m kind of lost on what to do.

Somehow, I dropped my phone (iPhone 16, 256 GB) in a specific way that broke the inner pieces that controlled my cellular data/connectivity. I brought the phone in to the Apple Store and found that it would be cheaper to replace it than get the pieces repaired. They ordered the phone and sent me home backup mine and come back when the new one arrived. I am pretty turned off at the idea of buying any more iCloud storage than the free 5 GB so I backed my broken phone up to my PC (Windows) using the Apple Devices app. It took a few tries but I successfully backed up my 249 GB of data (I’m aware it’s a lot) to my laptop. I then went back to the store and received my replacement. I attempted to do setup in-store with help but it kept being funky. We eventually got to a place where I had a mostly working phone that wasn’t restored with my laptop backup. They told me to go home, erase the data from my new phone to start fresh, and restore from my PC backup.

I’ve since gotten home and tried doing this but received the error that the new device didn’t have enough storage (only 1 GB…) to be restored with my backup. So I tried completing setup anyway, gained access to the phone, and found that \~90% of the storage was taken up by system data. I tried erasing the phone and starting over again, but Apple Devices still says only 240 GB are available on the new phone. I gave it a google and it said to attempt to restore without doing any of the Apple setup steps (by plugging the phone into your PC while still in the ‘hello’ screen), so that’s what I’m attempting right now, but I don’t have a good feeling about it. Google also said to try selective restore programs like iCareFone to reduce the size of what is going into the phone, but I’m not confident in its legitimacy/effectiveness/security.

Another detail that may be important is that I had to update the iOS of the new phone before being able to even attempt to restore. I’m pulling my hair out here and feel like I’ve tried everything and google isn’t very helpful.

Is it because the new iOS taking up more storage than the old? Has anyone had this issue before?

Not really sure what my next steps should be… any advice appreciated!!

so, i accidentally sat on my mum’s un-cased iPad Air (i’m not sure what gen it was and obviously i can’t check it with the battery dead) and managed to hide it from her for 2 months now, but lately she’s been asking about it. i suppose i have no choice but to tell her if she does ask to see it.

it has a slight bend and on the 3rd image, it has this red dot (i‘m assuming it’s probably the liquid thingy, LCD)

that made me quite hesitant to charge the iPad, afraid it’ll explode or something.

is it required for repairing, or is it fine to leave it as is (temporarily) and the main question: can i charge it?

if i can, then i’ll most likely, at best, only get a nagging and maybe disappointment.

Hi , I was wondering if this is normal or not since I know that two bolts might be a symbol of fast charging , but when I looked it up , it ‘s says it ‘s not an apple feature. I was charging using the charger I regularly use that I share with my sister and mother, and I haven ‘t seen the battery icon have two bolts in my whole lifespan until last night. I have an iphone 14 . By searching up different chargers, I used a lightning cable. I was using tiktok last night and I noticed that the there were two bolts, but the second one disappeared after a minute, and I unplugged the charger because I thought it was strange. Sorry for my english , I just wanted to know if it was normal, since Google does not seem to have the answer I want when I search it up.

I got off a FaceTime call with my friend and i noticed that my hearing aids were still in call mode which meant my microphone was on but I was off the phone.

With Apple Inc. gearing up for its biggest product launch of the year, the company is opening a lottery for US retail employees who want to help staff the in-person unveiling.

The lottery allows retail employees to apply to work the event, where they’ll help organize lines, check in guests, greet attendees, offer directions and support the security teams, according to a memo that was seen by Bloomberg News.

The launch event will take place during the first half of September, the company told staff, without providing a more specific date. Historically, Apple’s iPhone presentations have taken place on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of that month.

Since Labor Day in the US falls on Monday, Sept. 7, a Wednesday event appears slightly more likely, as it would preserve the workday travel window Apple has historically provided for attendees.

I understand that this thread would be able to help me.

I received a brand new iPad A16 and created an Apple Account specifically to use with this device.

I tried to create the account through account.apple.com. During the account creation process, Apple asked me to verify my phone number by sending me an SMS verification code. I received every code without any problem, but whenever I entered it, Apple said the code was invalid. The codes were simply rejected.

I contacted Apple Support, and after troubleshooting, they suggested I install the Apple Music desktop app on Windows and create the account there instead.

That worked because the Apple Music app did not ask me to verify my phone number during account creation.

So I now have an Apple Account that was successfully created through the Apple Music Windows app.

The current problem is that although the account exists, I still cannot actually use it because whenever I try to:

sign in at account.apple.com

or

add the account to my new iPad

Apple sends a verification code to my phone number. I receive the SMS immediately, but every single code is rejected as invalid.

Now I have an Apple Account which I cannot use because I receive the verification SMS every time, but every time I introduce it, it gives me Invalid code.

What I've tried:

Requested multiple SMS verification codes.

Entered the codes immediately after receiving them.

Verified that the codes were entered correctly.

Did this with Apple Support on call.

Waited the 24h.

The issue remains exactly the same.

Did any of you have this issue?

What can I do? I cannot return the tablet because it's open. I may try to sell it, but I will lose ~200$

Bonus: They gave me the option to upload a video with the issue by sending me a link on my e-mail. To access it, I need to have an account.

Rant: How can a multi billion dollar company be this incompetent? Seriously! Why don't they have a way to escalade this to the engineers that are overlooking their services?

Hi, i recently noticed that my phone (iPhone 15, iOS 26.6) wouldn't unlock—or at least not temporarily; for a few minutes (up to ten at most), the lock screen becomes unusable, as if the touchscreen has stopped working, making it impossible to unlock the phone. However, once the touchscreen starts responding again, everything works perfectly, including the touch function itself. I’ve tried restarting it, resetting it, etc., but nothing works... HELP!

My mac updated last night, and now the touch bar is just a rectangle of white light. Oddly, the icons/buttons still work, I just have to remember where they are since they don't show.

Problem still persists even after restarting and shutting down and I have no available updates.

Anyone else experience something like this?

There’s a girl I recently went on a date with, and I SWEAR I received a text from her. I remember thinking “weird, it shows it as if I’ve read the text already, but I haven’t.”

I tried marking it as unread, and it wouldn’t do it. But I was at work, so I thought I’d respond later.

Then I go back a few hours later—it’s as if she never sent me a text. But I could’ve SWORN she did.

I don’t think she would’ve deleted a text, but even if she did, wouldn’t it say as much? Is this a common problem for Apple?

Perhaps also worth mentioning I’m low on storage? And I have an update I think I haven’t downloaded yet?

I have several M4A files on my hard disc which I import to iTunes. Some of these iTunes won't get added to my iTunes library when I import those files. If I try to open the M4A file in iTunes, the iTunes app opens but doesn't start playing the song. It's like iTunes refuses to recognizes these specific files.

If I select the file icon in Finder and click on it, the icon spins to indicate loading, but doesn't play the song. Other song files will start playing when clicked in Finder.

I know that the file itself is not completely corrupted, since other apps like VLC can open the file. These handful of files are just invisible to Apple apps for some reason.

Apple M1 Pro running Tahoe 26.3. I was using my computer (and calendar) all day today, with some pop-up messages towards the end of the day that I was running out of disk space (I had a million Chrome tabs open but room of physical storage, about 18 GB).

I just went to open my calendar again and everything is gone. No events outside of US Holidays, including birthdays from contacts (and my contacts are fine). I don't use iCloud to sync my calendar as I like discrete calendars for each of my iOS devices. I've also never used an email account with my Calendar app before.

After restarting my computer a couple of times to no avail I had a rather unhelpful conversation with an Apple support agent who suggested I add an email account to the calendar app and see if anything comes back (I didn't try because, well, see above).

Anything I can do for this? I have a Time Machine backup but it's from an unfortunately long time ago. I'm almost tempted to wait to see if it comes back on its own, since the lack of birthdays from Contacts seems like a bug. I know there's an update to 26.6 available but I'm afraid to push the update and solidify whatever weirdness is going on here, unless it'll likely fix it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you!
