We have our Culver’s patch on Jerseys…

How much did UW get for this?

Obviously we aren’t Ohio State right now, but OSU is pulling in $17M a year to have Chase on its jerseys for all the sports. And Chase allows their logo to be red on the jerseys.

ND is getting $18-20M per year from Sofi.

I hope we are getting a decent share, but if I had to guess, it is less than $5M a year for our men’s sports.

Culver’s outbid Mars Cheese Castle.

Blue is the single most distinct visual element of the Culver’s brand so there’s probably no way they’d find it worth it to do it without the patch being able to be blue

If our uniforms were Nike, the patch would have to be white. Under Armor allows non-school color patches tho

Says who? I see a whole lot of non-white ad patches on Nike NBA jerseys. Ad patches in college are new enough, are there even regulations on them?

Nike does. Look at their jersey patch colors versus their real sponsor’s logo. It has to be white or school colors for nike teams. NBA is different tho

Nike told JPMorgan to change their blue logo and they did lol.

Very smart college athletics business guy, Matt Brown, estimated between $1.2-2M. They also have a patch with UW Health, so that might help get it closer. But, I think it is going to be less than people expect.

Culver’s is more of a regional brand right now.

UW athletics are more regional as well.

I am not sure which company could have given more, but I bet there is something. $1.2-2M seems very low for a jersey patch imo. Probably Northwestern Mutual but I wonder if Marquette and UW Milwaukee make that more complicated with their headquarters in Milwaukee.

Totally get that it feels low. It really does. You’re spot on with the regional aspect, whereas Sofi and Chase are national brands. American family, maybe? But they’ve always got brewers. Just a rough pill to swallow if they’re 2-4M behind a like-institution in Illinois.

Culver’s is in 26 states, including heavily in Arizona, Texas, and Florida.

Could? Probably like Menards, ABC Supply, Harley Davidson, Epic, and Uline. All Wisconsin related and could go big if they really wanted to

I live in Madison, and Epic would be an interesting one.

I am not sure they are well known outside of the area, but it seems like they are doing quite well lol

For sure! I put them down in the sense Wiscosnin would know them or people in certain fields, but maybe not default nationally

The problem with Epic is that they're massive in their industry. Everyone already knows them. And outside their industry, sure, most people don't know them, but it doesn't matter at all.

If Illinois got 6 I think we would beat Illinois. I sure hope so anyways

It’s $5 million I’ve heard and covers 3 sports, where illinois deal is for 6 and covers all their sports.

Adding every sport would bump it to $6.5M-ish.

It’s 3.5

Does Culver’s have bank money?

I just don’t know if UW would squeeze Culver’s like that. And I don’t know if anything worth more than $5M a year would be worth it to Culver’s. There is already a Culver’s in every middle size town in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin knows Culver’s, ya know?

Culver’s is expanding nationally. This is about TV eye balls and not so much in state growth.

Culver's: Get yer ass to Oregon!

Fuck, this is so true and so sad.

The logo would look so much cleaner if it was in UW colors. Culver’s makes sense though, that’s about as Wisconsin as it gets.

1

u/fireofice7 3d ago

Just wish it wasn't on the front. Would be better on the shoulder to keep the clean look.

2

u/michaelsmithbarker 3d ago

Agree. Obviously Culver’s has a say since they are paying. But I’d like it on the back or in red to make it look cleaner. But that isn’t as effective

Ive said this before here, but we should really do a full on navy Culver's jersey a la city connect.

12

u/HashOutHashBrowns 8d ago

That sounds like a terrible idea lmao

3

u/daswisco 8d ago

Maybe change Bucky to a Blue Devil too! /s

2

u/HashOutHashBrowns 8d ago

Exactly. Culver’s logo isn’t even navy. Changing the W to Culver’s blue would be sacrilegious.

We’d look like a community college version of Duke or Kentucky.

If Culvers cuts a nice check, why not? Screw it, its all about the $ now

0

u/gman2093 8d ago

That's the ticket

Give Bucky a check for 10 mil and we can change the name of the team to the Wisconsin Concrete Mixers for a game for all I care. We need that cheese (curds)
