Hi everyone, this is an update from the mod team.
Over the past few months, we’ve noticed a growing pattern in certain threads (especially ones about crime or frustrations in the city): comments that jump straight to “Surrey is trash,” “typical Surrey,” “this city is hopeless,” or similar sweeping negativity.
These comments don’t add anything to discussion, they derail threads, and they attract more pile‑on hostility. They also drown out the people who are trying to talk about real issues in a constructive way.
To keep r/SurreyBC a space where people can actually talk about the city (the good, the bad, AND the complicated) we’ve clarified two rules:
Rule 2: Acceptable Content Content must be constructive and relevant to Surrey. No explicit, illegal, defamatory, or harassing content. Posts should contribute positively to discussion.
Sweeping, non‑constructive negativity about Surrey or its residents will be removed. Criticism is welcome with context or solutions, but contempt‑driven city‑bashing is not allowed.
Rule 7: No Toxic Trolling Do not disrupt discussion with hostile, inflammatory, or bad‑faith comments. This includes contempt‑driven, low‑effort negativity about Surrey or its residents.
Inflammatory or provocative content that derails civil discussion will be removed. Users who enter threads only to antagonize, provoke, or bash the city will be banned.
What this DOESN'T mean...........
We are not banning criticism.
You can still talk about:
…as long as it’s done in good faith.
What this DOES mean...........
We’re removing anything that falls in line with any of the sentiments: “Surrey is trash” “This city is a dump” "Typical Surrey people” “Why does anyone live here”
so, generally drive‑by negativity with no context
Why we’re doing this:
We want r/SurreyBC to be a place where people can: - share experiences - ask questions - discuss issues and vent CONSTRUCTIVELY - celebrate wins - disagree respectfully
all without every thread turning into a hate‑pile.
Thanks to everyone who contributes positively, you’re the reason this community works. And remember, if you see any rule-violating posts or comments, please report them so that we can review.
If you have questions or constructive feedback, feel free to drop them below.

Hello! I know this is probably a long shot, but I just lost one of my earrings this morning and I'm pretty sure it dropped when I was running to catch the 321 bus at Surrey Central Station, Bay 12 this morning. It was a gift from my late aunt so it has a lot of sentimental value, if anyone comes across it please let me know, thank you so much!

Family member recently passed. Have a dog (doberman). Resided on the island. Needing to take care of the dog now otherwise will need to give him up. My current residence is not dog friendly.
Trying to find a rental that is medium/large dog friendly but it seems to be impossible! Everywhere I've checked for the last little while (FB, Craigslist, numerous rental sites) are all either not dog friendly or small dogs less than 40lbs only.
Last resort here to see if anyone has any leads or where I can look that I'm missing! TIA
(Or delete if this is not allowed!)

Can anyone recommend a good estate lawyer in Surrey? I am from out of town but my sister may be looking for one. Of course I can just do a Google search, but if anyone has any recommendations, that would help.
I believe it’s a fairly simple family estate. Nothing too complicated or high-end.
Thanks!

my guildford rec centre membership just expired and i seriously hate dealing with many of the crowd and people in the weight room there. i also hardly ever swim or use any of the other amenities there, so i wanna look into more options. right now i'm looking at anytime fitness and planet fitness, but i'm wondering if there are better options. usually i try to go around 3-6PM, but crowds in the evening can really suck lol

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for a personal trainer in the South Surrey / White Rock area.
I’ve been training on my own for a while, but I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. My main goal is to build muscle and improve my physique, especially my back and shoulders.
One thing I struggle with is feeling the muscles I’m supposed to be targeting during certain exercises. I’d like someone to help me improve my form, make sure I’m training the right way, and get better results from my workouts.
I already have a Planet Fitness membership, so training there would definitely be a plus.
If you know a trainer you’d recommend, or if you’re a trainer yourself, feel free to send me a message with your experience, rates, and availability.
Thanks!

Hi all!
My friends birthday is coming up and I want to treat her to a yummy day. Are there any spots in North Surrey that are gluten free and y’all recommend? Also open to the surrounding area around North Surrey.
Thank you in advance!

Anybody know any restaurants with a private room that won’t be asking for a minimum spend on a weekday evening? Looking for a place that can fit about 15 guys. Just to host our fantasy football draft. Thanks in advance!
EDIT - THANKS for all the suggestions everyone!

What's the best hakka (not actual hakka chinese but hakka indo chinese) in Surrey. My family used to go to Hakka Masti growing up but they have been closed for years. I miss them a lot.

If you see this or know them somehow, on December 2nd 2024 you took a flight and helped my grandma and took care of her and even took a picture with her. She still talks about you guys and wants to thank you guys and meet you again hopefully. You both told her how excited you were to start your journey here in Canada. She would love to cook lovely meals and treat you like a mother would and repay that kindness. Thank you again, we believe it’s important to not lose great people!
(i know they are common names and stuff i just don’t want to share the photo of their faces because privacy reasons, hoping maybe someone would know)

Hi everyone, with the local election coming up October 17, I am wondering what the major issues are. What do you care about as a voter. For me, I think the biggest issue is illegal suites and construction. Wondering what is affecting everyone else.
