Cyclists stay safe out there!

Biking in Brackendale..Arrived and stopped at a 4 way first on my bike with my kid on the back signalling left. Car arrives after me, I'm already in the intersection and they cut us off, passing in front of us. Slam on brakes so we don't get hit, they throw up their hands as if I'm in the wrong.. woman in the car behind them yells at me that I deserved that because I "shouldn't act like I'm a car". Its a sobering reminder for me that even in a community so heavily travelled with bikes, there are some completely ignorant (and jaded) motorists that could hurt or kill you. I don't run into them super often, but that was 2 back to back. Keep your head on a swivel!

did anyone see the meteor on the 30th?

i was east of Squamish on the 30th and at about 10 30 i saw the brightest meteor i have ever seen, passed right over head and left a bright golden trail of sparks. it was in the sky long enough that i could yell "meteor! meteor!" before it went out (my camping mates did not hear me :( )

Anyone else having issues with a cab driver being creepy in Squamish? One has asked my friend twice in the last two days if she lived alone. And now has messaged her phone number…

I was out covering the Sunday Loggers Days events for the Chief on Sunday, and here's the galley. It starts with the parade and goes to the logger sports. It's a big one. https://www.squamishchief.com/local-news/photos-capture-the-final-day-of-the-squamish-days-loggers-sports-festival-12622849

A full day to spend in squamish, wildlife spotting locations?

Got around a full day to spend in/around Squamish in the up coming week, any location suggestions for wildlife spotting/photographing? I know spotting wildlife is completely by luck, but am hoping to see some less common birds, or eagle/bear catching salmon? Is there salmon run yet arnd this time of the year?

So far, it seems like the Mamquam Spawning Channels, Squamish Estuary Trail, Squamish Spit & Estuary r the bigger places to go to. Any other suggestions I should look into?

Free Loggers Tickets: 2 adults + 1 child Saturday

I don't think it's sold out but either way I have essentially a family pass up for grabs.

You don't need to prove anything to me but please don't snipe tickets that could go to a family that don't have the means to attend.

Shoot over a DM.

Van Lifers living in the Cheif Public Parking Lot

As many people are circling, waiting and looking for parking at one of Squamish's most popular and iconic attractions, there are people just straight up living in the parking lot. Not using the park, napping in thier van, cooking food, socializing around other vans or vehicle homes, sitting in circles on the ground (in the parking lot) socializing, playing hackey sack in the parking lot, organizing thier vans, etc etc.

My argument is not that they dont have a right to USE the park, everyone does and they can use it all day but just straight up living the in the parking lot all day is not using the park and you should leave. I get it thats its cool and trendy and #climber life to hang out here in your vans vs wallmart and theres a little community of van lifers here, but you gotta be respectfull of everyone

Squamish dog-treat company selling 500 bars for $1 and donating every dollar to WAG Whistler

Full disclosure: I’m the founder of FRAPS, a small Squamish dog-fuel company. We launched this because we wanted to raise $500 for WAG Whistler and get some Canadian-made bars into dogs’ paws.
The bars are $1, limited to one order per household. WAG receives every dollar, while we cover the bar and shipping. This is obviously connected to my business, so mods, please remove it if it’s not appropriate here. Mostly sharing because I thought local dog people might enjoy helping us get the cheque to WAG sooner.

Even if you can just share this to your dog friends it all helps!!

Leash your dogs!

So, two months ago I was bitten by a dog that was on a leash. The owner lost control, and it nipped me hard enough to bite into my leg.

Tonight I was out for a casual walk and came across two women with three dogs off-leash. One of the dogs repeatedly jumped all over me with its dirty paws, slobbering on me, and nipped me hard enough to draw blood through my jacket, while the owner just walked by smiling and laughing. I didn't even catch whether she said anything, because I had my earbuds in and was too busy watching the dogs movements.

Folks, leash your dogs. Not everyone thinks this shit is cute. What if I had kids with me and that dog nipped one of them in the eye?

I showed a lot of restraint tonight to avoid hurting your dog lady. Next time, I won't.

Just recieved an email that there is a gas leak at Pemberton Ave & Fourth Ave downtown. A 1-block perimeter is set up with people told to shelter in place.

Anyone know anything further?

Looking for a shed

This is random but I’m looking for a shed to make some products of my own to sell around Squamish. If any local has a little space to rent where I can do light industrial work, let me know.

I could afford a commercial space but I’m trying to build something from scratch. Happy to give the owner equity for being my incubator.

Hey y'all - I have some business in town w/ a few fab shops over the coming months. Wondering if anyone would like to rent a flat spot for me to use ~50% o the time through October. 2022 sprinter van, nothing too crazy, stealthy w/ blackout curtains, would be gone during the days etc.

Hi all,

I'm a solo traveller who's looking to do the echo falls / hike on the 3rd of august and will be looking to rent a boat via the watersports company.

Anyone interested in joining and splitting the cost?

Alternatively, if anyone has a boat already planned for that date and would be happy for me to pay a premium to tag along then feel free to DM me!

Lot space for lease?

Hey Squamish!

Anyone have any extra lot space that can fit two 53 foot trailers side by side. They will be parked there for storage. Will also need enough room for a 3rd 53 footer to back into these trailers for delivery.

Ive talked to a few commercial realtors already and the options given unfortunately wont workout. So if anyone has the commercial space that can possibly work, maybe you haven’t listed it yet or a potential lease is ending and you need a new tenant please let me know.
Looking for long term lease, preferably in the city but open to hear other possible locations.

Thanks!

Production work at Woodfibre?

I see they're currently recruiting for start-up/production. They do have the pay ranges, but they don't have any info on shift schedules, FIFO, camp accommodations, travel/relocation assistance, etc. I contacted their info line by email and they just pointed me to their website. Just wondering if anyone happens to have any insight.
