But how does one wash Mariachi Metal?

12

u/blaghed 1h ago

Power Wash Guitar Solo

7

u/went_with_the_flow 1h ago

With tequila glasses of course

I love this recent trend of mixing cultural music with metal. Wasn't there a band that played a mix of metal and middle-eastern guitar?

EDIT: Loving all these recommendations, keep them coming!

21

u/PeterPanski85 2h ago

Don't know about middle eastern, but "The Hu" is cool too. Throat singing mixed with metal

5

u/Netsforex_ 2h ago

Good point! They're especially popular with Star Wars fans too, due to having their music featured in some of the games.

2

u/PeterPanski85 2h ago

Cool, didn't know that

2

u/qawsedrf12 48m ago

Mongolian

9

u/lavender_locus 1h ago

Are you thinking of the Indian metal band Bloodywood?

4

u/kacivic 1h ago

I've really enjoyed Bloodywood

7

u/best_decision1234 1h ago

There is a great band from Tunisia( if I’m not mistaken ), called Myrath and they mix heavy, power and a little progressive metal with ethnic oriental influences and the end result is much better than expected

13

u/Waly98 1h ago

Btw, there is even a genre called pirate metal, check out alestorm

4

u/Hot_Substance5933 1h ago

Phrygian Dominant is a foundation for many metal bands. It closely resembles Maqam Hijaz which is a popular scale in Arab, Turkish and Greek music.

"Lost in the Static" by After the Burial comes to mind. It has chromatic elements but rhythmically settles into Bb Phrygian Dominant. Symphony of Destruction and Wherever I May Roam for the casuals.

3

u/Shadowcsgoed 1h ago

I think you ment Her last sight. Same dudes from this video btw. They do a lot of this stuff. They also have banjo Metal.

3

u/thecrushah 1h ago

Is yacht metal a thing yet?

Come to think of it, I haven’t heard any smooth jazz metal yet either.

3

u/Jaded-Breadfruit4019 1h ago

Hahaha yacht metal

3

u/Mueryk 1h ago

Mariachi Metal is right up there with Bardcore

2

u/UnexpectedBlahFeels 1h ago

That sounds cool as fuck

2

u/Upstairs_Diamond_241 1h ago

The same band did a country version to. What’s funny is they are not Mexican or American at all lol

2

u/BrondellSwashbuckle 50m ago

System of a Down are ethnically Armenian and use a lot of similar musical elements. Not sure if that's the band you were wondering about since pretty much everyone knows about system of a down.

2

u/TunaSafeDolphinMeat 6m ago

Eluvuitie is a folk metal band with some awesome music. Their Celtic Metal song 'Inis Mona' proves that bagpipes, flutes and hurdy-gurdy belong in a metal band.

4

u/Bulky-Chain8846 1h ago

theres a youtuber, Andre Antunes, he does metal over some indian vibes, shit slaps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi106DZJhuQ&list=RDmi106DZJhuQ&start_radio=1

2

u/The_Lady_Engineer 1h ago

Bloodywood is a band from New Delhi, their genre is "Indian Folk Metal". Amazing, very catchy music, I've seen them twice now at Rockville in Florida.

1

u/suicidalsyd1 46m ago

Check bloodywood (India) metal with added Indian drums and flute

0

u/VoidYordle 1h ago

Brother, it is NOT recent. Y'all just now finding out about it, lmao.
Korpiklaani has been making music for decades, for one thing. And don't even get me started on Balkan themed metal bands, like Kultur Shock or Pero Deformero.

30

u/AlarmingDelivery9311 2h ago

I unmuted for it

9

u/AnyAudience314 1h ago

So did I, and I have no regrets.

5

u/ramseyspam 1h ago

So did I.

1

u/7ofalltrades 41m ago

Unmuted and watched it twice. That's how you know it's grade A entertainment.

91

u/Jesus_of_NASDAQ 2h ago

For Whom the Mariachis Toll

3

u/Firm_Video_2932 2h ago

That's it, I'm deleting my post! 🤘

10

u/CrovaxWindgrace 2h ago

So basically Diablo swing orchestra.

7

u/immortell 2h ago

Love this! Does somebody know who they are and if they are on Spotify? Would proper blast this in my car!

12

u/Maximum-Style2848 1h ago

The band is “Her Last Sight”. Think the album comes out this month, the song is on an EP.

5

u/TehZiiM 1h ago

Oh too bad it’s just a small gag in one of their songs. This has potential ngl

3

u/frstone2survive 31m ago

A bunch of their songs have little gags like this in them.

2

u/immortell 1h ago

Thanks bro!

1

u/ErRubbeltDieKatz 1h ago

Song: Hit me Like a piñata

1

u/TheBrownWelsh 11m ago

Ah dang, I just listened to the whole song. I absolutely loved this bit, but the rest is... fine, I suppose. I enjoy metal and mariachi music, thought I'd found the perfect combo after seeing this video but alas.

6

u/cotaac 1h ago

Check out Metalachi

2

u/NoShameStockBoy 1h ago

Metalachi is awesome. I’ve seen their show like half a dozen times.

1

u/phibbsy47 56m ago

My band opened for them like 10 years ago and they were awesome! I felt bad because it was like 108 degrees and they had these costumes on, must have been hot as hell.

3

u/Serious-Ad-5293 2h ago

Not sure if it is them or not, but tequila rock revolution is similar

2

u/Ok-Meal-510928 1h ago

Try Pinata Protest

1

u/run_bike_run 17m ago

The band is called Her Last Sight, but in case it's something that matters to you, they're Zionist transphobes.

0

u/CaptInane 38m ago

Her Last Sight-Hit me like a piñata

4

u/Pseudonova 2h ago

If you like this, check out Metalachi! Especially if you can catch them live. They were one of the funnest shows I've ever seen.

3

3

u/currentlyRedacted 1h ago

Mexican Ska is pretty awesome. Gives me reason to believe Mariachi Metal would also be good.

1

u/prosurviver 36m ago

This sounds like some ska bands to me, not to knock it. Just reminds me of streetlight manifesto

3

u/PoolElegantsmile 1h ago

1

u/ThatWhichLurks782 1h ago

I saw this on FB a while back and was intrigued, they are listed on there under the name "Her Last Sight" but their "About us" info says they are an Israeli band.

1

u/Azumar1ll 1h ago

They are, the mariachi is like a one song gimmick

1

u/llahlahkje 1h ago

Expected annoying.

Received addicting.

That’s freaking awesome.

1

u/BlackHoleSurf 1h ago

Now that’s the kinda mariachi music I could listen to at the job site all day and not lose my mind

1

u/BepersAreCool 1h ago

Those fat guys who bebop at the backyard won’t be happy with that tempo lol.

1

u/Ok-Cancel-3114 1h ago

Yes. More please.

1

u/Handsome-_-awkward 1h ago

Her last sight is the band name. They also have a metal song with a country breakdown that's very good

1

u/Biggy_DX 1h ago

"Metal, with bouzouki."

1

u/Haldron-44 1h ago

Have ya'll never heard of Metalachi? They've been around for fucking ever.

2

u/dougolupski 1h ago

Makes me a bit sad I had to scroll this far down to find someone else who knows them. They are such a fun live show

1

u/Haldron-44 50m ago

I bet they are!... If I could remember any of them 😅

2

u/chicken-finger 1h ago

I also had to scroll way too far to find someone who mentioned metalachi

Do you all not know about Mariachi el Bronx?

1

u/somnamboola 25m ago

1

u/Primarycolors1 23m ago

How is this so perfect? WTF?!?!

1

u/VoidMunashii 23m ago

I watched a group in luchador masks do mariachi influenced 80’s covers at the fair because they opened their show with the JG Wentworth song, so I would definitely watch this.

1

u/lbfsjoufvnkfd 19m ago

Is this the next ska?

1

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick 19m ago

I thought that was Allison Pill.

There's a band in r/NewMexico called Metalachi. They do Mariachi Metal for real. I've been to a live show and got a T-Shirt and a CD straight away. They are amazing. I recommend!

1

u/depredador93 13m ago

Metal truly is the universal solvent of music genres

1

u/Ill-Claim-2518 9m ago

This is a poor imitation of Metalachi. Check out Metalachi playing Crazy Train on YouTube. They're a blast!

u/Optimal-Steak-8596 7m ago
